Worrying signs that Shaheen is not getting his first over swing

It’s just the swing that’s missing (first over or not) it’s his line length variation consistency speed and overall bowling nouse. Above all else he lacks a decent bowling partner to keep pressure on at the other end.

In essence I see the weakest link in Pak right now three dependable fast bowlers. People say batting but that’s never been a strong suit for us and you can muster a half decent score somehow with the youngsters that have been thrown in. That’s fair enough.

What is unbelievable is that SSA, Rauf and Faheem are the full extent of our seam options. This really is a sad state of affairs. Granted Rauf can get a wicket or two. Sure Faheem can bowl a tight over here or there. But more is expected of SSA.

Well this is all true but doesn’t solve the problem of how a country of 250 million can’t produce a hazelwood or a Bumrah. Heck even a siraj will do. I’m absolutely sick of hearing how shaheen or Rauf are this or that. They have very little development despite playing for nearly 10 years.

Of course a seaming all rounder like Razzaq is very rare. And a spinner like yadav is years in the making but really Pak need to look at their bowling coaching and player development there. Without good bowlers whatever good score the batters eke out will be overhauled. Teams these days are stronger in batting and they pounce on weak bowling or even good balls. 145kph balls are no threat even 150kph isn’t.

So often Pak are obsessed with a comparison with India or Ipl. It’s actually quite immature. Just look at how teams with comparable resources Bangladesh or newzealand develop players.

Well you’re not wrong. Pak has to improve all aspects of their game. It’s the lack of bowling quality that worries me more.
Just look at this. Zaheer khan, irfan Pathan bumrah siraj, kulasekara, vaas, Asif. All brought up on subcontinental wickets None are express, some have gone on to get over 300 wickets. But when it comes to line and length bowling with seam in seam out some swing when conditions suit they are all wildly successful. Just the current Pak lot are awful. Just comes down to how we develop players. Player development and a healthy match fit squad just sees to be beyond Pak management.
