Time up for the Babar Azam-Mohammad Rizwan opening partnership in T20Is?

The most impactful innings of the match by far Was Fakhars 33 of 16, who unselfishly went from ball one .

That’s what an impact player /match winner does .
 
Good to see Pakistan winning accolades against the NZ C side with Rizwan being removed.

1) Khusdil shah and asif Ali as your lower order
2) Umar akmal, Imam, Shehzad and Irfan as your front lines.
 
how saim is playing its better to go back with this combo atleast we will be able to survive a power play without throwing too many wickets.

Would be a terrible decision and would destroy a very good pair.
Eventually what will happen that we will see short term success with a new pair that hits boundary, than it gets exposed, and than we will be running back to Babar and Rizwan pair when its too later.

Losing wickets in powerplay is not a problem... Every team lose wickets but that doesnt stop them hitting boundaries and sixers and go into shell being feared of their own shadows under the floodlights..

In 2021 WC India lost their top order against Pak didnt stop them to put a total in excess of 150+
In 2021 WC semis Aus lost half their side for 80 odd runs and still had 100 runs to score in last 9 overs and they did it..
In 2023 WC India lost their top order again against Pak didnt stop them to go on and win the chase

This idea of playing slow and wasting balls as dots when losing a wicket or 2 in the powerplay was long cultivated by the dot ball maestros Misbah, Hafeez, Shehzad and long it continues...

Exactly. T20 has changed. Teams don't mind losing wickets. They prefer to be all out of 9 out at the end of 20 overs. But they stay on 10 runs per over path.
 
Please, for the love of god end this torture.

Rizwan and Babar are not good enough to be playing T20 cricket let alone opening for Pakistan.

For all the Rizwan and Babar fans, go do one.

I can no longer stand posters who put the blame on other players when the players who they worship aren’t doing their job in the team.

lol and who will you bring in?

Had Azam Khan, Imad and Usman Khan not played in this world cup, fans would had said that had these three been there we would had won.

Today we saw how terrible Usman is. Every other batter sucks.

Babar and Rizwan can atleast bat compared to above mentioned guys that cant even strike the ball.

We dont have replacements and are just a mediocre side.
 
Saim was not given a chance to play in the World Cup for this rubbish?

Literally anyone, even Misbah’s kid.

Azam Khan is rubbish, I gave him a chance because every players deserve to be backed once they’ve been given an opportunity to play for Pakistan.

Imad Wasim is a bits and pieces players, same goes for Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Ifthikar.

Usman Khan was scoring big runs in franchise leagues, I’m not a fan of selecting players based on league performances but that’s the current criteria to play for Pakistan.

Bring in Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Harris and Abdullah Shafique as the number 3.

They won’t be averaging 50+ like our queens Babar and Rizwan but they also won’t be playing with low strike rates that’s for sure.

How can you advocate ffor dropping of Rizwan and replace him with Farhan when they are both similar in scoring rate?

Lets asume that Abdullah Shafiq plays at no.3 and fakhar zaman plays at 4. If we play Harris at 5 and not perform, than fans will whine that its not Harris fault because he is being made to play that position.

Forget about fans whining, it’s time for change. You cannot keep picking the same players over and over again and use the excuse - “we have no replacements” to justify their selection in the team.

2021, 2022, 2024…do you really want the same top 3 for 2026??
 
I've been saying from day one that it's stupid for these two to open. It weakens the batting.

They should be in the middle order and act as a safety net for two specialist openers who can play freely at the top (Saim, Usman, Fakhar, etc). Look at how brutally they got exposed in the past two games because there's no middle-order depth once these two open.

It's just rookies, openers playing out of position, fake all-rounders, or guys that are too old.
 
Definitely times up for both of them in t20 cricket. Pakistan should hit the refresh button at least in t20 cricket just like England did post 2015 wordcup debacle.
 
After this World Cup, I suspect the entire batting line-up will be modified.
 
AUS can discard someone like Steve Smith because they have both the realization he's not what T20 game demands AND they have the talent to replace him.

PAK cannot discard someone like Babar because they have no talent to replace him.

IND has the talent to discard Rohit and Kohli but they wouldn't because they lack the clear thinking and decision making of AUS.

India doesn't discard not because of lack of the clear thinking. It is because tons sponsors have invested in those players. Them playing internationals is vital for BCCI.
 
No no, let’s give them more time. They are the best in the country, look at their stats. Look we need to accept we just don’t have the players, we need to accept yes these guys won’t get you much more than 160, but that’s the best we can do. We need a strategy where the bowlers can keep the opposition down to under 160. Then you’ll see….oh boy you’ll see - these two will come in to their own.

Oh wait….errrmmm…

This whole world cup has put the lid on how poor Pakistan and these 2 truly are.

Ireland is the weakest minnow and their troubling Pakistan, heck Pakistan only best them 2x cause Ireland experimented with their be ch strength and even the commentators said in wprld cup at full strength these 2 teams are even.

NZ mainstring have no clue how to play anymore despite that NZ literally just needs chapman to solo Pakistan. Their one batter performing is enough

I expect another Canada mauling coming up
 
I think time is up for rizwan now to be a part of the T20i team... he should better concentrate on ODI cricket where his batting style suited the most.
