Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, speakers gathered at an international conference in the Turkish capital agreed on Wednesday.

Kashmir Turmoil: Emerging Threats to Peace and Role of International Community was co-hosted by Turkey’s Institute of Strategic Thinking and Pakistan’s Lahore Center for Peace Research.

The speakers added that India's Aug. 5 move to unilaterally scrap the special provisions of the disputed region is a potential trigger to cause instability in South Asia.

The provisions allowed Jammu and Kashmir to enact its own laws and protected the region's citizenship law, which barred outsiders from settling in or owning land in the territory.

LOL @ Internal matter .... :))) :))) :)))

Credit to Turkey clearly going out of their way.

This is exactly why India needs to be careful, hopefully the ship orders are cancelled if its not then clearly there is corruption in the BJP govn over those orders.

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has urged the Turkish government to play its role in opening a humanitarian corridor for supplying aids and medicines to the besieged people of the disputed territory, which has been under military lockdown for over three months.

He made the appeal during interviews with Turkish and other foreign media channels in Muzaffarabad on Thursday.

While describing the situation prevailing in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) as “horrible”, the AJK president said that the silence of the United Nations and influential countries over the Modi government’s brutalities amounts to giving free hand to the oppressor to perpetrate more oppression.
“Kashmir is undergoing the darkest era of its history, where state terrorism and worst human rights violations have now become the norm,” he added.

New Delhi’s obstinacy — including random use of force in IOK and threats of aggression and military operation against Pakistan and AJK — is mounting to danger of war in the region, which is a threat to peace and security of the whole world, he added.

President Masood regretted the fact that 8 million Kashmiris have become detainees – living like aliens in their own homeland. However, he said, the UN remains unmoved. “This situation is alarming for not only Pakistan and Kashmir, but for all those who believe in humanity.”

He reiterated that Pakistan along with Kashmiris want a peaceful political and diplomatic solution to the Kashmir conflict under the UN auspices but New Delhi — demonstrating its stubbornness — rather “believes in a militarily solution”.

“Such Indian actions in IOK are not only violation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions but also war crimes under the Geneva Convention,” he said while quoting the Genocide Watch that Indian atrocities amount to genocide and ethnic cleansing.

While strongly opposing the bifurcation of the Himalayan valley through the August 5 illegal action, the AJK president said the New Delhi’s move was against the will of Kashmiris and the act of revoking some key laws related to properties, employment and education of people in Kashmir are “beginning of a change in demography of the Muslim majority state”.

Calling upon the UNSC, President Masood urged the Security Council to take immediate steps in order to resolve the Kashmir issue — in accordance with the resolutions of the world body — and play its role to avert the danger of war in the region by preventing ethnic cleansing of Kashmiris.

Appreciating the efforts of global and Turkish media in highlighting the situation of IOK in its real perspective, he said that the international media has started showing the real picture of Kashmir to the world after a long time.

The AJK president hailed the policy of humanitarian diplomacy adopted by the incumbent Turkish government, and thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for extending unflinching support to the demand of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

Turkey has always been our loyal friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Please don't laugh, it's serious.

co-hosted by Turkey’s Institute of Strategic Thinking and Pakistan’s Lahore Center for Peace Research.

I am also hearing that Turkey and Pakistan's involvement in this event gives it more credibility because both countries have set an example when it comes to establishing peace and stability in the region. :)

I wonder why Turkey is doing this? Is Erdogan trying to position himself as the champion of the Islamic world by taking on causes which most would avoid due to financial interests? India is an important market, this takes quite some cojonas to take a principled stand.

Erdogan is an Islamist.

Spot RSS/BJP supporters who are getting excited because RSS/BJP can get away with killing, raping, making kids blind and continuous occupation against the will of the people of Kashmiri.

Basically these Hindutva RSS/BJP are saying we fully support rape, murder, making people blind and continuous metal torture.

On this blessed day of Jumma, may Allah swt. ease the suffering of the people of Kashmir.

Most of the western world were misguided, was told that their army in other countries to spread democracy and having no internet in those days helped.

RSS/BJP supporters are fully aware of whats going on in Kashmir, openly cheer their army crimes against Kashmiri and try to ridicule anyone who show them mirror. Some of the most bigoted and ignorant people on the face of this planet.

Who are we of all people to teach anyone a lesson. This news has terrified a lot of us. Tough times ahead.

Lol. Turkey can do jack. It has no leverage over India.

you ( BJP/media ) cannot bully Turkey, no matter what. they are high above your game. at best you can only postponed the visit, thats it. you also have no leverage over Turkey.

Erdogan is an Islamist.

What is Modi? A secluar liberal? lol

Turkey has billions of trade with India but unlike other nations it will call out the human rights abuses of India.

Waiting for Indian retaliation which will never come.

Any surprise muslims countries sticking together.
Maybe Pakistan and turkey will start the revival of Caliphate... such exciting times ahead.
India’s cowering in the corner with this great move from the islamists.

Turkey doesn't look like an Islamist country to me. I was there a few years ago and the locals were wandering around in beachwear with bars on the promenade. Or maybe I just have a wrong idea of Islamist due to images we see of Al Qaeda or Hizbollah on our tv screens in the west.

He’s a gradualist Islamist rather than a jihadi one
He also talks about attaturk a lot especially since he became president which is against islamism

If you want to know about Turkish islamism make sure you watch ertugul

We dont have leverage. Neither are we bothered with them. They are immaterial. They cant bully us, they cant economically, militarily or diplomatically do anything to us.

Islamist radical organisations in parts of the country including Kerala and Kashmir are being supported and funded by Turkish outfits backed by Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government in Ankara, people familiar with the development have told Hindustan Times.

“There is an effort to radicalise Indian muslims and recruit fundamentalists coordinated from Turkey,” a senior government official said, underlining that a recent assessment in New Delhi had noted the emergence of Turkey as “the hub of anti-India activities” next only to Pakistan.

Ankara’s attempt to expand its influence among South Asian muslims comes against the backdrop of President Erdogan’s continuing pitch to challenge Saudi Arabia’s dominance in the Islamic world at a global level and offering a reshaped, conservative Turkey with Ottoman traditions as the model for other Islamic nations to follow.

The reconversion of the Byzantine cathedral Hagia Sophia to a mosque last week was a giant step in this direction, counted by commentators as a milestone in Turkey’s rebirth as a powerful, muslim nation. The church had been converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople, now Istanbul - and from mosque to museum in 1934.

The change fits in with Erdogan’s long-term plan to project himself as a global protector of muslims, much like the Ottoman Caliphs. He had last year taken baby steps to build an alliance of non-Arab Islamic countries along with a handful of countries including Pakistan’s Imran Khan and Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad. Iran and Qatar were also roped in.

Pakistan watchers say Islamabad latched on to Turkey’s Erdogan after India deepened its ties with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Imran Khan, however, backed out of the meeting at the last minute due to pressure from Riyadh but has made up by feting Erdogan - called Sultan by some supporters - at home, even emulating some of his policies back home.

Officials believe that Erdogan’s political agenda has driven his government to expand its influence with South Asian muslims, particularly those in India.

Indian officials said the Turkish government had funded Kashmir’s hardline separatist leader such as Syed Ali Shah Geelani for years. But it is the rapidly expanding scale of the effort that recently nudged security agencies to carry out an extensive review.

The Erdogan government has been funding religious seminars in India, recruiting fundamentalists to radicalise people and even take freshly-minted radicals on all-expense trips to Turkey to reinforce their learnings.

The security review also referred to a Kerala-based Islamist radical organisation that had been funds from Turkey for some time.

“We are also aware of some people from this group travelling to Qatar to meet some people from Turkey to seek funding for their activities,” a government official said. “That amounts as high as Rs 40 lakh are being offered to preach radical Islam in Kerala”. Besides, officials said Turkey, along with Pakistan, have also been funding Zakir Naik, the controversial Islamic preacher accused of radicalising muslims, via Qatar, a senior official said.

Turkey has become Pakistan’s “new Dubai” at a smaller scale, the official added, a reference to the United Arab Emirate’s city that used to be a second home to Pakistan’s ISI between 2000 and 2010 and the epicenter of anti-India activities in west Asia.

During this decade, Pakistan’s ISI was able to radicalise some Indians and turn them against their own country. It is also here that the founders of terror group Indian Mujahideen were first radicalised. Since 2014, however, the United Arab Emirates has turned into one of India’s closest partners with no protection or sanctuary for anyone indulging in anti-India activities.

Turkey also stepped in early this year when protests broke out over India’s amendment to the citizenship laws, not just to criticise the change that was perceived to potentially hurt the interests of muslims but also with money to keep the protests going, according to an intelligence assessment accessed by HT.

Indian security officials believe that much of this radicalisation effort being bankrolled by Ankara was being carried out in coordination with Pakistan’s deep state. To be sure, Erdogan was the only world leader to speak out against India in the UN general assembly over Kashmir.

On a visit to Pakistan earlier this year, he went on to assert that Kashmir is as important to Turkey as it is to Pakistan. “Kashmir is and will be the same for us. It was Çanakkale yesterday and it is Kashmir today, he said in February.

Turkey is the only country that actively backs Pakistan’s Kashmir agenda in OIC and is also forging close economic ties with China.

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned Prime Minister Imran Khan and exchanged views on a range of “important issues”, a statement from the PM Office said on Saturday.

Both the leaders exchanged Eid greetings and best wishes for the two countries and peoples on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Azha, the statement added.

PM Imran congratulated President Erdogan on re-opening of Hagia Sophia for prayers and informed him that millions of Pakistanis watched it live on television.

Recalling President Erdogan’s visit to Pakistan for 6th session of High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) in February 2020, Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further fortify bilateral cooperation in all areas.

He also appreciated Turkey for its role in the global fight against COVID-19 and for extending support to a number of countries, including Pakistan.

The prime minister also briefed President Erdogan on the government’s strategy to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Pakistan, particularly focus on saving lives, securing livelihoods, and stimulating the economy.

Prime minister Khan and President Erdogan agreed to stay in close contact on all issues of common interest.

The two leaders also discussed the need for Pakistan and Turkey to jointly work for medicine development.

“The Pakistan-Turkey strategic relationship is underpinned by unique mutual trust, understanding and close cooperation. Pakistan deeply appreciates Turkey’s steadfast support for the just cause of Kashmir, which President Erdogan reaffirmed during his Address to the Joint Session of Parliament in February 2020,” the press release added.

Erdogan reaffirms support on Kashmir

President Erdogan called President Dr Arif Alvi to convey warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Adha and reaffirmed his country’s support on Kashmir issue.

According to a press release, Dr Arif Alvi highlighted the plight of Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, and the Muslims in India who were living under the shadow of fear and discrimination.

“He recalled President Erdogan’s unequivocal statement before the UN General Assembly and expressed the hope that Turkey will continue to raise its principled voice on this issue as the world approaches the first anniversary of illegal and unilateral actions of India in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir,” it added.

President Alvi said during these difficult times, the occupation regimes continued their extreme repression in Palestine and Kashmir. Turkish president assured that his country would continue to support Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir as both the brotherly countries have similar goals.

Alvi reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support to Turkey on its legitimate interests and assured that Pakistan would continue its policy to provide Turkey with all possible support.

President Erdogan also invited President Arif Alvi to visit Turkey.

Glad the US failed it's coup attempt.

United Nations: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the issue of Kashmir during his address to world leaders at the high-level 78th session of the UN General Assembly session here.

"Another development that will pave the way for regional peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia will be the establishment of a just and lasting peace in Kashmir through dialogue and cooperation between India and Pakistan,” Erdogan said in his address to the General Debate Tuesday.

"As Turkiye, we will continue to support the steps to be taken in this direction,” he said.
