Scotland wrestled free from the shackles of injury and self destruction to muster a precious point against Switzerland to keep their Euro 2024 campaign alive.

Qualification hero Scott McTominay's deflected shot almost lifted the roof off the deafening Cologne Stadium on 13 minutes.

However, a bewildering blind back pass from Anthony Ralston giftwrapped an opportunity for Xherdan Shaqiri to sweep home a sublime first-time shot high beyond Angus Gunn.

Kieran Tierney pulled up clutching his hamstring as Dan Ndoye ran on to squander a golden chance when through on goal.

But the Scots, already patched up in defence, roused themselves heroicly in the closing stages which saw Grant Hanley strike a post with a header from an Andy Robertson free-kick.

The Swiss spurned a host of late chances, but not enough to deny Scotland a point to move third in Group A, with victory against Hungary on Sunday surely enough to see them out of a group stage for the first time in their history.

Serbia threaten to quit Euro 2024 over chants

Serbia have threatened to pull out of Euro 2024 over chanting between fans at the match between Croatia and Albania on Wednesday.

Fans could be heard chanting about the killing of Serbians during the 2-2 draw in the Group B match.

The general secretary of the Football Association of Serbia, Jovan Surbatovic, has called for the strongest sanction to be taken.

He told the Serbian state-owned broadcaster RTS: "What happened is scandalous and we will ask [European governing body] Uefa for sanctions, even if it means not continuing the competition."

Serbia are in Group C and began the tournament with a 1-0 defeat by England on Sunday.

Surbatovic said that he was "sure they will be punished" following Uefa's decision on Wednesday to cancel the credentials of Kosovar journalist, Arlind Sadiku.

Sadiku made a nationalist double-handed eagle gesture towards Serbia fans during the game against England. The gesture mimics the eagle on Albania's national flag, which can inflame tensions between Serbian nationalists and ethnic Albanians, who make up the vast majority of Kosovo's population.

"We will demand from Uefa to punish the federations of both selections," Surbatovic added.

"We do not want to participate in that, but if Uefa does not punish them, we will think how will we proceed."

The BBC has contacted Serbia and Uefa for further comment.

Serbia were fined £12,250 after fans threw objects during the England match.

Serbia and Albania were also fined as fans from both countries displayed banners of nationalist maps, external in their opening matches.

"We were punished for isolated cases and our fans behaved much better than the others," Surbatovic said.

"One fan was punished for racist insults and we don't want it to be attributed to others. We Serbs are gentlemen and we have an open heart, so I appeal to the fans to remain gentlemen."

Serbia's next match is against Slovenia at 14:00 BST on Thursday.

HALF-TIME

Slovenia 0-0 Serbia

That's that. It wasn't great for 30 minutes but it's finally started to wake up in Munich. Goals in the second half, please.

Luka Jovic scored a 95th-minute equaliser as Serbia grabbed a last-gasp draw against Slovenia at Euro 2024.

Luka Jovic scored a 95th-minute equaliser as Serbia grabbed a last-gasp draw against Slovenia at Euro 2024.

Full-back Zan Karnicnik slotted home a low cross from close range with 20 minutes remaining to put the Slovenians on the verge of a first Euros win, which would have pushed Serbia to the brink of elimination.

But former Real Madrid striker Jovic rescued his country with a near-post flicked header from a corner to spark Serbian joy in Munich.

A draw meanwhile benefits England - Gareth Southgate's side are guaranteed to progress as Group C winners if they beat Denmark later on Thursday.

Serbia manager Dragan Stojkovic criticised his side for showing England "too much respect" in their Euro 2024 opener, however they produced a similarly slow start in Munich.

Unlike against England, there was no notable improvement after the break before Karnicnik arrived late at the far post to finish Timi Elsnik's cross.

Slovenia seemed certain to claim just their second win at a major tournament - their first was against Algeria at the 2010 World Cup - and move to the brink of reaching the knockout stages of a major finals for the first time.

But Jovic's goal means both sides still have everything to play for going into their final group games on Tuesday, when Slovenia face England and Serbia take on Denmark at 20:00 BST.

The Slovenians had two shots on target in the opening 12 minutes - the same number they managed in the entirity of their draw with Denmark - and the best of the first-half openings.

On 38 minutes Elsnik hit the near post with a powerful effort. The rebound fell to Benjamin Sesko, but the tall striker - previously linked with Arsenal and Manchester United - skewed his shot wide.

At the other end, Serbia talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic was twice denied excellently by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak one-on-one.

Slovenia continued to push after the break, Predrag Rajkovic going full stretch to tip over a Sesko drive - but he could do nothing to deny Karnicnik, who sent the white-shirted supporters into raptures.

The right-back was then the hero at the other end as he made a last-gasp block to deflect Mitrovic's close-range volley on to the bar.

The story seemed written that the smallest nation at Euro 2024, with a population of 2.1 million, would secure a historic win.

But just as the mood was turning nasty with warnings broadcast at the stadium in Munich for fans to stop throwing bottles, Jovic stepped up to keep Serbia's tournament alive and break Slovenian hearts.

Usually stuff from England take 1-0 lead then proceed to play rubbish afterwards.

Now its 1-1

HALF-TIME

Denmark 1-1 England

The half ends with Phil Foden lifting another one over the bar.

England have to get it together in the second half.

They have not played well and it has been sloppy.

Surprise Surprise TAA who isn't a Midfielder and has been rubbish is replaced by Gallagher.

Southgate predictable as ever

What about Rice the water carrier. Absolute joke. Majority of the England players are made to look good amongst the more rounded foreigners.

Palmer and Gordon not used.

Kane rubbish today, foden non existent.

2 holding players in Rice and Gallagher

Southgate ball is 😴😴

Rice has been poor as has the entire England midfield and forwards

The usual uninspiring shower of 💩 known as Southgate-ball.

Usual score an early goal, then proceed to play like a Sunday league team.

TAA In midfield running around like a headless chicken.

Gallagher replaces TAA (predictable as usual)

Watching paint dry would be better than this.

England should take a leaf out of Ivory Coasts book and sack the manager now and try and salvage the tournament

Unless England produce kroos Gundogan type midfielders then they will continue to look predictable.

As it stands. The low block style is more suited to Watkins than Kane

If England finish second , looking likely with how rubbish they’re playing, it will be Germany . Musiala & Writz will open them easily.

Germany are weak in certain areas but those two are special players .

England can still improve their form but the problem is after all these years Southgate hasn’t come up with a distinct style of play. No chance England are winning this.

Horrible to watch, they will be smashed to bits deeper in the tournament by top sides. With the style they play, it will be difficult to find form and chemistry, they will heavily depend on set pieces and luck again.

England are tactically rubbish. Neither stones or gheui are being allowed to come out the back.

TAA is not a midfielder, either play him RB or you don't play him. He's not good enough to play ahead of walker.

2 holding players in Rice and Gallagher don't work either.

Foden is better as an 8 or 10 instead of out wide

Kane dropping deep with no midfield runners or wide players getting inbehind.

Southgate is inept as they come.

England should sack Southgate now, get a last minute caretaker manager in

England have good midfielders in rice, Foden, Bellingham. If they were played in a midfield 3 under a tactically astute manager England would be way better then the 💩 they are producing.

Look at home these players play at club level in comparison

Spain looking electric here, but missing chances galore

England also lack direct wingers.

The best England player in 2020 Euros and 2018 world cup when they did well was sterling, who is quick and direct, so is a inform rashford.

Without that, Kane has to be benched, and either play Bellingham as a false Nine or play Watkins

England have had better INDIVIDUALS in the past. The key word is individual.

Rooney
Gerard
Lampard
Scholes
Terry
Ferdinand
Cole

Yet they won nothing, and even then they had a elite foreign manager in Capello. Bottom line is, English players mental midgets, and they crumble under pressure

England have Palmer and Gordon who both like to get the ball and run at people. Problem is the manager has no interest in playing expansive football or with any fluidity.

Look at how fluid Spain and Italy look in this game. Most players in this England team are use to possession based fluid football like Foden, Bellingham, Rice saka or players use to playing on counter attack like Palmer, Watkins, Gordon

England are doing niether.

Bellingham is more than capable of playing as a number 8 or 10, same goes for Foden.

Foden has been rubbish in both games.

Rice hasn't been great either, but when manager is asking you just to sit infront of back 4 and pass backwards and side ways you aren't getting best out of him

You telling me if Pep or Anchelloti was in charge of this England team they would be playing this clueless dross.

Also England's left side is non-existent which is again down to southgates ineptness

Spain secured their spot in the last 16 of Euro 2024 with a scintilating performance against defending champions Italy in Gelsenkirchen.

They created countless chances and were utterly dominant but won by a narrow scoreline thanks to an own goal by Riccardo Calafiori in the second half.

After being kept at bay by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for almost an hour, Alvaro Morata's flick-on was poked in by the knee of the unfortunate Calafiori.

There was no response from Italy, who were comfortably second best, despite playing their part in a captivating game of football.

Two European giants meeting in the group stages of the tournament meant there were high hopes and it lived up to its billing with an electric opening half.

Spain were the ones delivering most of the eye-catching stuff, moving the ball around beautifully with intensity and creativity, while Italy succeeded in keeping them out - but only just.

They had Donnarumma to thank as he made three excellent saves, tipping over Pedri’s header in the first two minutes, before later denying Fabian Ruiz and Morata.

Spain’s Nico Williams should have scored when he headed wide then struck the crossbar but he put in an impressive display, alongside teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, 16, who played with freedom, curling an effort of his own narrowly wide later on.

Italy had just three touches in the opposition box in the first half and not a single shot on target and they did not up their game after the break.

There were glimpses of a threat on the counter-attack but it was Spain who continued to rack up the chances - Pedri and Morata coming close again as they eased into the last 16 with two wins from two matches, having not conceded.

Italy still have a chance of progressing. They face Croatia on Monday - a nation that has finished in the top three of the past two World Cups - while Spain take on Albania.

Capello was in charge of lampard Gerard Rooney Terry Cole and co and the results were awful.

Bottom line is, the English players perform well at their respected clubs because of elite foreign players around them

I've never ever seen a England side play expansive football.

Even with the likes of Gerard Scholes Rooney Beckham lampard in the team .

It says something. When it comes to tournament English players get stage fright. They are mental midgets, and the foreign brigade who are equal to them at their respective clubs are no longer there to help them.

Judging the past and present , this is the reality of England sides when expectations are blown out of proportion.

Today's fixtures in Euro Cup 2024 for 21 June:

Group E: Slovakia vs Ukraine (Düsseldorf, 1:00 pm GMT)
Group D: Poland vs Austria (Berlin, 4:00 pm GMT)
Group D: Netherlands vs France (Leipzig, 7:00 pm GMT)

Thus far it is a wonderful tournament with plenty off goals being scored. I was disappointed with Italy's performance versus Spain yesterday. They created nothing at deservedly losing the match to an own goal.

England as always have been unconvincing thus far. Their pundits sit in the studio's talking them up as if they're the best thing ever while on the pitch they struggle to impress. Struggling to defeat the average Danes tells us where the English team stands.

I expect Scotland to reach the semi's

Apart from venables and hoddle, no England manager has ever attempted to try and play positive football.

Capello and sven were never known to play that way.

Yeah Normally England are underperformers in tournament, but for once they have a good squad and a manager who is clueless.

If Southgate was Germany or Spain manager you would same level of 💩

And do you know what Capello said of the then so called Generational talents of England?

He said English players are tactically inept. They can only play in a ltd way.

Been a fun tournament so far. Enjoyed the matches of so called lesser teams more than the big teams. Like Turkey, Swizz and even Romania bashing up Ukraine.

As for England - they are performing as expected. When you have Kyle Walker and Trippier as your full backs and trent in midfield who is then replaced by Gallagher the outcome is always going to be dead football.

It wont happen but I would put Trent back in as right back and Gomez as left back as he did well for Liverpool this season gone when he had to cover LB. Bring in Mainoo with the midfield of him Rice and Jude.

Kane has been bad but he bangs goals.

Southgate is trying to put in all his talented players and hope it works but its tournament football and he should utilise his squad. Also he bought the Palace kid a long to instead of Grealish who can make things happen as an impact sub. The palace kid is brilliant so play otherwise why did you bring him a long.

I have never been a massive England fan tbh. I mean I would love for them to win but its same ol England.

Euro 2024: Eight England fans arrested in Frankfurt - as offences revealed

Eight England fans have been arrested in Frankfurt, where the Three Lions took on Denmark on Thursday night in their Euro 2024 clash.

One was detained for riding an e-scooter while under the influence of alcohol.

Others were held for bodily harm and violating narcotics laws.

The police also confirmed one arrest had been made after a person attempted to enter the stadium dressed as a referee - though their nationality was not specified.

Hessen Police said no Danish fans were arrested in the city yesterday.

A spokesman added that there was an "exuberant mood" among the fan groups - and despite the arrests, there was a "peaceful togetherness on the streets".

On Wednesday, three England fans were also arrested by German police.

Their alleged offences included bottle throwing, throwing a missile at an officer, and being in possession of drugs.

Although there was a small amount of unrest, the UK Football Policing Unit said no major issues were reported as 2,000 fans packed into the main city square.

"This is indicative of what we have seen across Germany so far, with the vast majority of England fans behaving extremely well," the statement added.

Ahead of the Group C clash - which ended in a 1-1 draw - local detectives had classed the match as "high risk".

But while there was an increased police presence in and around the stadium, there was no ban on alcohol sales within the venue.

In the run-up to England's match against Serbia last weekend, riot police were forced to intervene outside a restaurant festooned with Serbian flags.

Video posted on social media showed men throwing chairs at each other.

Seven Serbia supporters and one England fan were detained after the brawl and missed the game.

Last week, Sky News spoke to the British officers deployed to Germany to help monitor England fans.

PC Stuart Dickerson, from the UK Football Policing Unit, said: "We have seen people openly taking cocaine off the back of their hands.

"They're drinking beer that's a lot stronger than they're used to and people tend to get carried away and do things they don't do at home."

He warned that "the slightest thing" can change the dynamic in the crowd after hours of drinking - with something as little as a smashed bottle or a cross word sparking a fight.

"They're singing a song and all of a sudden, they just turn, and you see the body language change, the chest puffs up," he added.

Spotters in the crowd have identified English supporters who have previous convictions for football violence - and at the time of the interview, PC Dickerson said about 100 known hooligans had been seen.

After a disappointing draw, attention now turns to England's final group game in Cologne.

Gareth Southgate's side will face Slovenia in Cologne at 8pm UK time on Tuesday.

The European Championship starts in Munich's Allianz Arena on Friday and finishes at Berlin's Olympiastadion on 14 July.

Twenty-four teams will contest the tournament, which will be played out in 51 matches over 31 days, including hosts Germany and holders Italy.

Who will get their hands on the Henri Delaunay Trophy this time? Who are the other main contenders? And how will England and Scotland do?

Alan Shearer: England can go all the way. This is the greatest chance we've had in a long time.

If it's not going to be England, then I would have to go with France. With some of the talent and experience they have, they will be really really tough to beat.

Wayne Rooney: England have to be looking at winning the competition. I also have a feeling for Portugal, they have got a really good squad, good individuals. They will have a good go.

Thomas Hitzlsperger: Top of the list is always France, and they have to be the favourites, but I see England and Portugal as also being in that top group of contenders and of course every German football fan thinks we can win it, playing at home.

Izzy Christiansen: It's got to be England, finally! After reaching the final last time out, let's hope they can take the next step this time, just like the Lionesses did in 2022.

Leanne Crichton: It’s probably France for me. They are probably the most consistent team in terms of a squad who have been there and done it before, with quality, experience and world-class players.

Micah Richards: England are going all the way to the final but if they don't win it, then you have to look at France. You could argue that, individually, we have got the better players but as a team they will be hard to stop, with the way Olivier Giroud leads the line and how Antoine Griezmann plays in the pocket... oh, and they have got Kylian Mbappe.

Joe Hart: It's England's time.

Steven Thompson: England, Germany and Portugal will be strong but for me it's France - because of Mbappe, the strength of their squad and the hurt from the way they lost the World Cup final to Argentina. They will be extra-keen to make amends for that here.

Martin Keown: France or England. I don't want to put any pressure on England, but France are quite magnificent.

Ashley Williams: France have got such a strong squad. All those young players are growing into mature stars.

I'm Spanish supporter, but Portugal gonna win this time considering the team.
They were unlucky in the WC23, with having so much quality in their team.

I'm Spanish supporter, but Portugal gonna win this time considering the team.

Yes Portugal look strong. Nut so do Germany, Spain. And the french are the top dogs over the last 20 years of international tournaments, so they can never be discarded.

A very limited player.
Interesting view point. One you are entitled to. But respectfully that's absolute nonsense

He is limited due to the set up of the team. Players differ in systems. Rather than individuals I would say Southgate is the one who is limited.

After watching the season Rice had with Goals, Assists to go with the recovery tackles and runs etc. You come up with conclusion that he is limited. Okay fair enough. Have a good day

Another example. The so called best player in the premier league (foden) is a misfit if not in his favourite position. That is totally absurd.

Musiala a proper baller, plays CAM, LW, RW with distinction, so does wirtz. I've always maintained and yet to be proven wrong, the English players are vastly overrated, and are proven bottle jobs

Zinchenko getting beat to a header at the back post while having zero idea whether anyone is around him. WOW SHOCKER. Didn't see that coming at all...........

Arsenal need to keep well away from lunin and Dovbyk, very mediocre players in Ukraine team

Watching Zinchenko get humilated in Euros is entertainment

Roman Yaremchuk scored a crucial winner for Ukraine as they bravely fought back from behind to beat Slovakia and keep their Euro 2024 campaign alive

The Valencia striker had been on the pitch for 13 minutes when he gave his side the lead.

Yaremchuk was alert to Mykola Shaparenko's ball over the top and finished smartly.

A brilliant touch allowed him to delicately nudge the ball past Slovakia goalkeeper Martin Dubravka into the bottom left corner from six yards out.

Ivan Schranz scored after 17 minutes to put Slovakia in front, with his second goal in as many games, before Ukraine came back to seal a huge victory.

Shaparenko equalised for Ukraine in the 54th minute, sweeping home from close range following Oleksandr Zinchenko's cross, before Yaremchuk made sure of three priceless points ten minutes from time.

Ukraine move level on points with opponents Slovakia and Romania, who play their second group-stage match against Belgium on Saturday.

Serhii Rebrov's side were below par in the first half, despite creating plenty of chances.

The decision to drop Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was tested in the opening 10 minutes when replacement Anatolii Trubin made two crucial saves.

He denied Haraslin's low-angled finish with his legs and then thwarted Schranz from close range.

Trubin was called into action again, saving David Hancko's free-kick which he palmed out for a throw-in.

Hancko took the resulting set-piece and found Lukas Haraslin who got in behind the Ukraine defence with ease and swung in a cross which was pounced upon by Schranz.

Mykhailo Mudryk initially struggled to impose himself on the game and had a wild shot when through on goal

He did improve and passed to Artem Dovbyk who performed some clever footwork in the box with his shot at the near post blocked by Peter Pekarik.

However, Ukraine's second-half showing highlighted the fighting spirit in their side as they kept going after Shaparenko's equaliser and were rewarded when Yaremchuk sealed the victory, becoming just the second Ukrainian substitute to score at a major tournament.

There were emotional scenes at full-time with Yaremchuk in tears as the Ukrainian players applauded their fans after a much-needed victory.

HALF-TIME

Poland 1-1 Austria

Austria defend the resulting corner, and that will do us for a very entertaining 45 minutes.

1718993865114.png

Late goals by Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic gave Austria a hard-fought win over Poland and boosted their hopes of reaching the last-16 at Euro 2024.

With both teams losing their opening matches in Group D, to France and the Netherlands, they came to Berlin knowing that another defeat would put them on the brink of elimination.

The high stakes gave the encounter the feel of a knockout tie, with both sets of fans creating a noisy atmosphere at the Olympiastadion, matched by a frenetic tempo on the pitch.

It was Austria who struck first, when Gernot Trauner rose at the near post to head home Phillipp Mwene’s cross.

Poland were struggling to get out of their own half at that point but quickly improved and began pushing for an equaliser.

It arrived after 30 minutes, when a cross from the right was not properly cleared, and although Jan Bednarek’s shot was blocked, Krzysztof Piatek was first to the rebound to fire low into the net.

Clear chances were at a premium after that, even when Poland’s talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski belatedly entered the stage, but as the game entered the final stages, it was Austria who found the inspiration they needed.

Arnautovic’s dummy allowed Baumgartner time and space to advance to the edge of the area, before he coolly slotted past Wojciech Szczesny.

Austria’s victory was sealed a few minutes later. With Poland pouring forward in search of an equaliser, Marcel Sabitzer ran clear and although he was brought down by Szczesny, Arnautovic converted the resulting penalty.

Xavi Simons had a second-half goal controversially ruled out as the Netherlands and France played out the first goalless draw of Euro 2024.

The French started without Kylian Mbappe after he broke his nose in the win against Austria on Monday and they clearly missed their captain as they failed to take a number of chances.

But it will be the Netherlands who will feel most aggrieved at not claiming the three points after Simons’ strike was chalked off.

The 21-year-old’s drive from distance was disallowed by the on-field officials, led by referee Anthony Taylor.

That prompted a lengthy check by the video assistant referee, who ultimately backed up the original decision.

It was harsh on the Dutch, but they could have been two or three goals down before then if Antoine Griezmann had not missed a number of big chances.

He first missed a shot from close range in the first half after being set up by Adrien Rabiot, who perhaps should have shot himself. Griezmann then sent a decent chance wide before prodding a tame effort at Bart Verbruggen after good work by N’Golo Kante.

Wout Weghorst, who scored a late winner against Poland in the Netherlands' first game, was again sent on in the closing stages but could not find the net this time.

The result means both sides are on four points in Group D, while Poland are eliminated.

A real tactical battle. The Dutch really must feel hard done by for that disallowed goal.

However, France missed 3-4 Great chances before that even though they were far from their best.

France Germany or Portugal, but after watching Spain, they look the real deal.

As for the delusional " it's coming hpme" brigade, nothing has come since 66, and I feel England blew their best chance last Euros which was effectively a home euros during covid and major teams were in transition. Would be very surprised if England win anything for the foreseeable future.

Substitute Saba Lobjanidze wasted a golden chance for Georgia with the final kick of the game as the debutants claimed a first ever point in a major tournament with a 1-1 draw in Hamburg

Georgia, the lowest-ranked side in the tournament, took the lead in first-half stoppage time when striker Georges Mikautadze slotted in from the penalty spot.

But Czech Republic - quarter-finalists three years ago - were by far the more dangerous side throughout and finally replied when Patrik Schick turned in after substitute Ondrej Lingr hit the post.

Schick then limped off with an injury as Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili produced save after save to ensure a share of the spoils.

And there was still time for Lobjanidze to fire over after a three-on-one encounter in the final seconds of the match.

The result means both sides will head into their final games in Group F on Wednesday with a chance to progress to the last 16.

HT: Turkey 0-2 Portugal

This is the first Euros game since Greece v Spain in 2004 to see five yellow cards in the first half.

Turkey 0-3 Portugal - MATCH REPORT

Portugal booked their place in the last 16 as group winners at Euro 2024 following a routine victory over Turkey in Dortmund.

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva opened the scoring midway through the first half, striking first time past goalkeeper Altay Bayindir after Nuno Mendes' cross from the left was deflected fortunately into his path.

A calamitous own goal doubled Portugal's lead when defender Samet Akaydin did not look up before passing it back to Bayindir, who could not prevent the ball from rolling into his own net.

That dampened the exuberant Turkish support, which had begun with hundreds of fans marching to the stadium from the city centre, draped in flags.

Portugal's support was equally impressive, if fewer in numbers, and they celebrated as their side played with fluidity and composure.

Their team sealed the win when Cristiano Ronaldo unselfishly teed up Bruno Fernandes for a tap-in to make it 3-0 before an hour was played.

The 2016 champions will take on Group F opponents Georgia on Wednesday knowing their job is complete in the group stages, while Turkey can still qualify when they travel to Hamburg to face the Czech Republic.

Full Time, Belgium 2-0 Romania

Kevin De Bruyne inspired Belgium to the Euro 2024 victory they desperately required with a virtuoso display in a thrilling victory over Romania in Cologne.

Belgium were under pressure in Group E after losing their opening game to Slovakia, but responded with an outstanding attacking display to illustrate why they are rated among the favourites in Germany.

In a magnificent, colourful atmosphere, Youri Tielemans put them ahead after 73 seconds, and Belgium went on to create a host of other chances.

The luckless Romelu Lukaku saw a third Euro 2024 goal ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee, adjudged to be offside from De Bruyne’s perfect pass.

Belgium and De Bruyne were not to be denied, and the midfielder made the game safe when he poked from from close range after 79 minutes – leaving the group on a knife-edge as all four teams have three points.

Group A: Switzerland vs Germany (Frankfurt, 11:00 pm GMT)
Group A: Scotland vs Hungary (Stuttgart, 11:00 pm GMT)

Albania forward Mirlind Daku has been banned for two matches after leading his country's fans in derogatory chants.

Daku addressed his country's supporters with a megaphone following Albania's heated 2-2 draw with Croatia in Hamburg.

Uefa also fined the Albania Football Association €25,000 (£21,250) for "transmitting provocative messages not fit for a sports event".

The Albania FA were charged an additional €22,500 (£19,000) for pitch invasions and the lighting of fireworks by supporters.

The Croatian Federation were fined €28,000 (£23,600) for the throwing and lighting of fireworks.

Uefa added its investigation into "potential racist and/or discriminatory conducts by supporters in this match is ongoing".

Doku took to social media to apologise on Friday.

Serbia had threatened to pull out of Euro 2024 over chanting between Croatia and Albania fans.

The Serbian team played their match with Denmark a few hours later, drawing 1-1.

Daku's actions also resulted in the North Macedonia's football federation demanding an apology.

Substitute Niclas Fullkrug scored a late equaliser for Germany as they rescued a draw with Switzerland to top Group A.

The Swiss thought they were going through to the last 16 as group winners after an early goal from Dan Ndoye until Fullkrug headed in the equaliser.

There was an outburst of celebration from home supporters behind the goal as Germany maintained their unbeaten start to Euro 2024.

It was a blow to Switzerland, who had defended resolutely for over 90 minutes but they still progress to the knockout stages.

Scotland crashed out of Euro 2024 in the most heart-wrenching fashion as Kevin Csoboth's 100th-minute winner earned Hungary an astonishing victory.

The Scots, who could still have held faint hopes of the last 16 with a draw, were stung on the counter attack to spark bedlam in the Stuttgart Arena.

It means Steve Clarke's side, who didn't register a shot on target themselves until injury time, once again fail to make it out of a group at a major tournament.

Hungary, who lost Barnabas Varga to a sickening injury, finish Group A in third, and still have a chance of going through as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Scotland boss Clarke furious at '100% penalty' denial

Furious Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has railed against the decision not to award his side a penalty as they crashed out of Euro 2024 in dramatic fashion.

With just over 10 minutes remaining against Hungary in Stuttgart, substitute Stuart Armstrong went to ground in the Hungarian box under pressure from Willi Orban.

However, Argentine referee Facundo Tello waved play on and VAR Alejandro Hernandez opted not to intervene.

"The moment in the game for me is the penalty," Clarke told BBC Sport. "It's 100% a penalty.

"Somebody has to explain why it's not because otherwise I'm thinking there's something wrong.

"I don't understand how VAR can look at that and say it's not a penalty."

Former England striker and BBC pundit Alan Shearer agreed that Scotland should have had a spot kick.

"The penalty decision was terrible," he said. "For me it was a penalty all day."
