Umar Amin replaces Shoaib Malik in ODI squad

Wellington- 18 January: "Shoaib Malik is doing better after sustaining a delayed concussion during the last ODI in Hamilton. However, he has not made a full recovery to be available for selection in the Wellington ODI", said Pakistan Team Physiotherapist, Vib Singh.

After consultation between Head Coach Mickey Arthur, Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, Umar Amin has been drafted in to the ODI squad to replace Shoaib Malik.

Umar was already available in Wellington as part of the T20I squad.

Umar Amin should open with Fakhar Zaman in the 5th ODI - he's most likely playing in the T20Is so give him a game under his belt.

Faheem Ashraf was a left-field choice of opener that didn't work out. Bring him back down the order where he's suited.

Ideal world we could replace hafeez with someone dynamic and not useless and doesn't play for him self. Sarfraz needs to bat at 5 and hafeez needs to take 6 but that won’t happen

Umar Amin should be expected to play since the management wouldn't really be bothered to do this if it did not serve a purpose. Hopefully he takes this chance and solidies his place in the ODI line-up. Quality player but mentally one of the worst to represent our country.

Even if Umar Amin does'nt score much, but play positive cricket he would be able to get into the squad.

The two cases Yamin and Imam inclusion remain a mystery.

Yamin who wishes to get into the team, is being denied by the management who is more inclined towards bringing back Imad Wasim.

Hope Yamin gets a game in t20 series though now I doubt whether he would get any match on NZ tour.

Imam will only play if Arthur pressurize him. Imam also is more happy to stay away from the playing XI and is not willing to play in NZ conditions.

Malik is meant to be the most senior batsman in the side
and yet hasn't scored any 50's in his 4 games, even Hafeez
has 2 half centuries. This is why is say I prefer Hafeez over
Malik. Especially if Hafeez can bowl 10 overs with low economy.

Good that AMIN and Yamin gets a game. Hopefully Amin opens the inns and scores at least a fifty to impress the selectors. Glad that MA and team mgmt chose Amin instead of the golden boy shehzad. Amin has been in fine form in the recent past but still opening the inns in breezy and cold NZL wickets straight after landing is a tough ask let’s see what he can do. I would have liked him to be selected pretty much in the ODI squad to have chances like that.
