Umesh Yadav Performance Watch

Zaher and Ishant looked quite slow compared to Umesh, the pace was troubling the batsmen and got Punter in the helmet first ball, umesh is steaming like :akhtar while zk and ishant are steaming like trundlers :yk

No. He wouldn't be in my top 10 current bowlers. Not that great, terrible shots.

Expecting a bowler playing his 3rd match to be in top 10 bowler ...... eh.

Umesh bowling 143-144 consistently with the top speed of 148. Very impressive first spell in Australia.

Ishant too has been hitting 142-143 consistently with a top speed of 145 but like always a touch short. Needs to pitch it up even if it means being driven for a few 4s.

great dude
in the past 6-7 months india has consistently had 2 guys hitting 140kph. (ishant, aaron and this guy)

i guess the trundler days are over

If Ishant could start picking wickets for a change, our bowling attack will not look bad. Ashwin's is a nice addition as well.

not a gr8 bowler but a gr8 talent...
im indian..would only get my hopes high after 1 year lol
but he is doing some damage wicket wise and also helmets wise :D

^ where lol ?
i support every good cricketer
amla to me is one of the best test batsmen currently super consistent

Match has just started... let pass the couple of days... and you will all be cursing him big time... hahah... even Doda ganesh can take couple of wickets on that pitch...

What a delivery to Ponting. First softened him up and then a classical out going delivery.

He is surely getting better and better.

Lol at a couple of posters here showing sour grapes. Everyone else is pretty impressed by this guy. Above 145 consistently and touched 150.

He's a decent prospect for India.

Miles ahead of some of the others that they have introduced.

i saw his first 2 dismissals and they were more down to bad shots rather than good deliverys

Very impressed with the bowling I saw from him - if nothing else for bowling +140kph consistently - seems like a perfect foil for Zaheer.

impressive bowler. does go flat out so tends to get hammered. but still looks the deal in tests for the time being.

All Indian pacers look like world beaters in 1st 6 months. lets see if hes still around this time next year.

He bowled well in patches today at MCG.

Definetly gives the attack more dimensions. I thought he was terrible watching the first over. Then he started bowling heaps better. A traditional quick I guess so far, expensive and trying for wickets.

expensive bit will go with experience, hope the pace doesnt

good to see he is not so arrogant as he used to be...

He needs a fast bowler mentality coach. Should've given Ponting some gaaliya post-helmet-hit :sami

Those who are getting all so excited seeing Ponting getting hit on the helmet, take a close look at the replay. He was in perfect position to play the ball (Frame at 3 sec) but went a fractionally too quick at it. Ball was actually SLOWER than he anticipated. There was nothing special to go gaga over this ball. Yadav however is a good find for India.

^If its nothing to go gaga about, why even bother to come and post in the thread which is about Yadav and take so much effort just to show your bitterness.

The first Indian bowler to touch 150 in test cricket.

And looks like the team management has asked him to go flat out without worrying about runs conceded. Bowled too many short balls today, but when he got it right looked threatening. Hope to see him pick a 5-er tomorrow.

Still to early to say how good he is or not especially being an Indian bowler but a good find for India. He bowled well and his biggest advantage is he has a bowling brain. It will be interesting to see how he comes back on day 2 to deal with the tail.

Can he be classified as right arm fast ?

Sure. I saw him bowling at average speed of 142-144 KMH for the whole test in India and here he is bowling a bit higher speed in general and touched 150 KMH.

Now if you can not classify this as fast then we will have very few bowlers in history, not just right now, who can be clasified as fast. Some bowlers like Lee and Akhtar can be clasified as express but you can count the bowlers on finger who can bowl faster than this for an extended period.

He lacks some control though so yet to be seen if he improves in next few matches. Just bowling fast is useless. Saami used to bowl fast but he should have never played the test cricket.

The only stream that I could find online was Star Cricket and they weren't showing bowling speeds.

Did other broadcasts show speeds? The commentary guy form cricinfo said they didn't show speeds??

yes Ch 9 were showing the speeds, his highest was 150.1 and average about 144-145.

bowled atleast 3-4 balls over 150
and msot of them were over 144
he is a fast bowler accepting or not accepting it wont make a difference

actually this guy is totally diff from sami
sami didn't know how to take wickets
this guy knows how to set up people already!
control he was nervous i ve seen him bowl much better then this
moreover he was given license to attack..so probably got carried away lol

also one major difference is that When Sami started his career he bowled spell consistently in 150-155 Kph range with odd deliverey above 155Kph.

Hence was rightly considered genuinely quick.

I was not comparing him to Sami. I was only using Sami's name to make a point.

I did not watch too much of Sami but I did watch him intially when he started. I don't remember him bowling 93 - 96 range consistently though.

in india he uses reverse swing
wont happen here i think zack would be the one to get the tail..

i dont even care if he is considered medium fast or wht
sami even with his express pace was never effective in tests
even if yadav bowls in 140's lower 140's and gets wickets thats good enough

Too early to call. Jury is still out on Cummins.

to be considered fast you have bowl spells ranging in 150-155. But thats just my opinion.

I think you are talking about express bowlers only 2-3 bowlers in recent history have bowled 95MPH like Lee and Akhtar. While rest bowl mainly in the 140s clocking 150s occasionally.

Good prospect, way better than the over hyped and over rated Ishant sharma.

Shaun Tait has done it. Shane bond too. Sami has bowled those speeds as well.

Yea Tait has done it but he doesnt play Test cricket.

Bond was more of 140-150k bowler with the fastest around 153ks.I show his entire career, and i dont think he ever bowled 150-155ks continously.

wrong. If he Bond was an indian one billion would be beating the drum of his speed, like they are for Yadav. who is not quite in the league of Akhtar, Lee, Bond, Tait and Sami yet. not to mention the speed merchants of the 90's and the 80's.

After watching him, he seems to a good bowler, he looks big and strong which is helping him bowl fast and if he is managed properly then he could be bowling with control at serious pace. ATM though, the indian camp should be asking him to bowl flat out quick on these bouncy wickets.

I will settle it for you cricketjoshila. Yadav is right arm super-fast. Happy?

Hes not fast medium he is fast. Not express pace but is a fast bowler.

Malcolm Yadav has promise but as AJ said, Indian bowlers all look brilliant in the first six months.

Looks to be a strong lad with an appetite for the contest.

I like Yadav, he seems to be a humble guy unlike other Indian youngsters. Hope he has a good career.
