Nikki Haley, the US envoy to the United Nations, said on Thursday her country is urging Pakistan more strongly not to give safe haven to terrorists.

She said Pakistan has been cooperating with the United States, but Washington cannot accept any government protecting terrorists.

“We are communicating this message to Pakistan more strongly than in the past and we hope to see changes,” Haley told members of the Observer Research Foundation, an Indian think tank.

Pakistan's cooperation is seen as key to the success of President Donald Trump's Afghanistan policy. The country is under pressure from Washington and the Afghan government who accused it of offering safe haven to militants blamed for attacks in Afghanistan, a charge Islamabad denies. Pakistan also insists its influence over the Taliban has been exaggerated.

Earlier in the day, Haley undertook an interfaith journey in New Delhi, visiting a Hindu temple, a Sikh shrine, a mosque and a church in old parts of the capital.

Haley, who was born in South Carolina to Sikh immigrants from the northern Indian state of Punjab, rolled breads at the Sikh shrine, a religious way of paying obeisance to Sikh gurus.

After visiting the Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques, she interacted with a child sitting outside.

She is on her first visit to India since becoming the US ambassador to the United Nations in 2017. She met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday.

Haley visited India in 2014 when she was governor of South Carolina.

Surprising to see no comments on this thread while Imran kneeling at the shrine is going hot!

These are real issues faced by Pakistan and we as Pakistani don't even spend time reading such news. Pakistan is slowly getting exiled in the international community. Pakistan has been borrowing endlessly from overseas with not much positive economic indicators. Together with high rates of unemployment, devaluation of currency, inflation, etc I don't think the international community would be interested in continuing its trade with Pakistan which is the reason we see why exports are falling on annual basis.

Pakistan has to spend money on its people so they can develop and start doing business which would help improve the economic indicators and overall international picture of Pakistan. Sad part is I don't see PMLN doing this (they haven't done that in past 10 years what would make me believe they would do it now?) and worrying part is Pakistani's are still in favour of PMLN.

So disappointing to see this thread empty. Bans are being removed on terrorists and people are sleeping. When will we speak up against the extraterrestrial force who support these terrorists? We have been grey-listed today, tomorrow we'll be black-listed. Wake up guys!

Well that explains a lot.

Isn't she the one who was begging countries in UN to support US resolution on Gaza??

Who cares who she is? Do we really need anyone to tell us that removing the ban on ASWJ Chief was wrong? We are already suffering from isolation internationally but our establishment keeps coming up with new ways to ruin our image worldwide.

Today Pakistan got Graylist in FATF. Interestingly our friends, I mean BFF(Best Friends Forever) aka Saudis and China, sold us down the river, they had personal gains to make at International Political stature. Slap in the face of all Pakistanis. Where are the friends when you need them, Where is the powerful military now??

A 37-nation FATF plenary held its first meeting on Pakistan in February where China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia opposed the United States-led move to place Pakistan on the watchlist. But the US pushed for an unprecedented second discussion on Pakistan, held on February 22.

By then, Washington had convinced Riyadh to give up its support to Pakistan in return for a full FATF membership. This left only two – China and Turkey – in the Pakistan camp, one less than the required number of three members to stall a move.

At this stage, the Chinese informed Islamabad that they were opting out as they did not want to “lose face by supporting a move that’s doomed to fail”, an official source had told Dawn.

Pakistan appreciated the Chinese position and conveyed its gratitude to Turkey for continuing to support Islamabad against all odds,” the source added.

Our powerful military is very busy unbanning terrorist chiefs and supporting their election campaigns. Who is going to clarify why the ban on ASWJ chief was lifted today?

When will USA stop protecting ISIS in Syria?

Which ISIS leaders are running for elections in the USA? Which ISIS leaders walk around freely and collect funds there? It's high time we clean our own house before pointing our fingers at others.

Only the Saudis ditched Pakistan.

That is expected from them.

Being Arabs they are event backstabbing Palestinians, they could care less about Pakistan.

China only withdrew because three countries were needed at a minimum to stall the verdict. Since Pakistan only had two in its favour, they rightly opted out as it wouldnt have helped Pakistan in anyway, just made China lose face.

China has vetoed many resolutions against Pakistan in the UN.

The American propaganda combined with Indian propaganda is so strong that our own people are starting to believe what they are saying.

Every country has their own narrative.

Even when U.S. is dead wrong (i.e. chemical weapons in Iraq) they are still seen as the good guys after killing 500,000 civilians for no reason other than control of oil.

Even when India occupies Kashmir with 500,000 soldiers and brutalizes Kashmiris, they are still seen as good guys.

But yes, throw your own country under the bus for them.

U.S. wants Pakistan military to take action against Afghan Taliban right?

So that when the United States leaves Afghanistan (which is almost a guarantee as it is an unwinnable war) who will be caught between a rock and a hard place? It will be Pakistan.

If Pak attacks Afghan Taliban, then in turn they will attack Pakistan. Regular Americans wont feel that pain as they live across the globe safe in their homes. Who will feel the pain? Pakistanis.

The best Pakistan can do is fence the afghan border so that Afghan taliban stay in Afghanistan. That way NATO can solve their own mess. Pakistan has repeatedly said the Afghan war cannot be fought on Pakistani soil.

I’m not someone who believes that countries should do whatever the US tells them to do. For e.g. I don’t agree with some of the comments Ms. Haley made about India’s relations with Iran. Persians are our friends and they hold a positive view on Indians. Yes, the current government and their policies may not be the best, but we can’t just disconnect ourselves completely from them.

But this particular comment she made is very relevant and important. Pakistan should take some action for its own good. Terrorists and terrorist organisations are slowly brought to the mainstream, which is a very very dangerous trend. If Pakistan doesn’t do anything about it this time, it’ll be blacklisted by the FATF. It’s in the grey list now because they accepted the action plan proposed by Pakistan. But some action should take place now. Global isolation can affect the economy very seriously.

China’s interest in Pakistan is limited to the financial gains it’s planning. They’re literally taking over the economy. One should always look at the cost-benefit ratio. Pakistan should look to develop as a country on its own, which it can if it tackles the terror elements within it. Good relations with all countries, including India will benefit Pakistan a lot. A balanced foreign policy is very important. These are things every Pakistani should think about instead of showing an everything is fine or I don’t care attitude, which is pretty evident from the lack of interest in this thread.

Isn't Nikki Haley is married to an American military man, Michael Haley? I think it is unfair of the US to give her roles involving India when she would prefer to concentrate on living an American life with her husband. Smacks of racial profiling.

POTW! I couldn't have put it any better. We need to sort out our own domestic and foreign policy before blaming everything on Indian and American propaganda.

I agree with you completely.

This same week we have removed Ludhianwi from fourth schedule, allowed Hafiz Saeed's party to run under AAT banner and had an Ahmadi Muslim brutally killed.

We then complain that there is an international sazish against us and that we are being marginalised by certain lobbies.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee.
