Alhamdulillah brother, wholeheartedly agree with you.

I hope he scores runs against Pakistan but Australia lose, so that we win the match but his average is not disturbed.

Usman bhai is a role-model for us.

This Sunday, you're on a roll. :)))

Too much free time? :baelish

Congratulations Australia and Australian fans.

Your fanbase is just going to get tripled in the near future.

In All honesty i do attend, thunder games, if you know a bit of history about usman, he did what most of the muslims choose to do, he refuse to have beer as the sponsor, from that day on the amount of respect he has around the local community is immense, you know how they say the harder you work, the more luckier you get.

What sarcasm? Perhaps you are unaware that we pray for the likes of Amla bhai and Moeen bhai to perform against us so that their averages aren't affected. Why should Usman bhai be treated differently?

Because Uzzie is going to score runs next summer regardless

you win my keyboard warrior friend :)

Mohsin Khan once said to me that Khawaja wouldn't have played for Pakistan as he wasn't good enough.

Hes been phenomenal actually last few months.

Forget about the amazing numbers, just look visually how much he has improved.

It just shows how hard work pays off. Pakistani batsmen should taken a cue out of his book when everyone was doubting him 3 years ago. But I doubt they will.

He might not survive the turning tracks in subcontinent; who knows?

He plays spin like the typical modern Australian batsman.

Has also historically been bogged down and unable to rotate the strike against quality fast bowlers. Which has put big pressure on him and his batting partner.

He plays fluent and free flowing shots. Tbh, his style is a bit similar to Lara's. Sometimes goes too hard at the ball (maybe because of the format today) and looks a bit vulnerable to spin.

That will be his downfall on non-flat pitches. I feel he has a Rohitsque career ahead of him..

Looks a quality bat with arry of shots all around the wickets, certainly on merit he justifies selection in all Aussie formats

Just doesn't get low enough while playing spinners. Will continue to struggle against them like he did against Swann till he sorts out his technique.

It is quite sad that Pakistanis are now in awe and all hyped over a batsman of Pakistani origin playing for another country. This tells me Pakistan as a nation is looking for a superstar batsmen and the fact that they cant find one is leading them to overly admire Pakistanis who play for other nations. I hope that a Pakistani superstar batsmen will come of age and he dominates batting charts and bowlers from all over, Pakistan truly deserves one.

He has class.. which finch doesn't.. nothing to do with religion of bhaism or bhaigiri I suppose....whatever amla Moeen or khawaja all has earn their place on merit.....

Has improved his shot selection and may b stance a bit...it is more open and he is judging the length early and finding the gaps too....

Harsh, but somewhat true

Most players in world can't play spin...add kohli to that must too....quality players of spin... are rahane pujara...Vijay...rohit Sharma ...Smith frm Australia...root...billings buttler....frm England...sarfraz younis misbah frm pak.... are some of the playrs who can....plus Williamson guptil and devilliers...

I like him, but it'll not at all end well when/if he ever has to face Ashwin in India, or any other decent offie on a turning track. It'll be reminiscent of Phil Hughes' tour of India in 2013 - something like, 59 balls, no runs, five dismissals (up until the second innings of the third test in Mohali).

As a left hander he has that disadvantage against right arm off spin. There are hardly any right arm leg spinners so right handed Aussie HTBs won't get found out nearly as easily by spin as the left handers.

Ashwin's gonna eat him for breakfast (literally, in the morning sessions) in India

I loved the way, how you used overseas Pakistani :)))

Will see how much overseas Pakistani he is when he smashes daddy hundreds against Pakistan next year.

He is NOT overseas Pakistani, He is an Aussie. Getting tired of this Bhai culture.

He isnt Pakistani so stop that . If he was playing in Pakistan he would be out of team after few matches and every one would call him ****** etc etc. Remember how bad he played when in his first matches for Australia but since Australia has the best domestic system he managed to come back and doing great.

We have talent but we dont know how to polish that talent. And our public and media is most pathice i have seen.

That's not going to stop some people..Amla bhai example is already there.

He is neither a Pakistani nor Overseas Pakistani.

He is an Aussie and a product of Cricket Australia.

I typed this before I realised to check it. Yes he is a overseas Pakistani but truly and surely product of Cricket Australia and an Aussie.

It would be interesting if next year he plays for islamabad United in PSL edition 2 but Cricket Australia won't allow him. This year too they did not give NOC to any Aussie cricketer for PSL.

He is born in islamabad Pakistan :-)

Does anybody know whether he holds a Pakistani ID Card and Passport ? Well he is entitled to both of them.

Why give NOC for IPL and not PSL or other leagues? Seems little shady.

Bar too low.. Perhaps bar doesn't even exist

Good question.

Australia , England & India are Big 3.

Because IPL is tw richest league and Cricket Australia earns alot from series with India so they don't say no to IPL and Aussie cricketers get a fat check too.

Than it is cricket Australia's policy that they want there contracted players to play in BigBash league. And to some who aren't part of central contract they give them NOC to play for T20 league under ECB of Big 3.

If they give NOC to their players for PSL , CPL , BPL and Ramslam than there players would be worn out and their international cricket will be affected so IPL is there 1st go to league (for contracted) and ECB T20 blast is their second priority for non contracted players. This way BCCI & ECB both are happy.

He is an oversea Pakistani since he was born in Pakistan unless he gave up Pakistan's citizehip which is unlikely. However like talentspotterpk said he is a product of Australian cricket, plays for Australia, his failures and successes are attributed to cricket Australia. But said that, I am very happy that an oversea Pakistani is making headlines for the right reason.

As an oversea Pakistan I have witnessed myself oversea Pakistani staying aloof, not integerating with local population, so Khwaja is a welcome change. I would rather have oversea Pakistanis taking up local sports and integerating in the society instead of becoming religious, living in their own world. I have seen Indians praising oversea Indians when they become CEOs of yahoo and Microsoft, so this is not uncommon in third world countries.

Yes there are people who go overboard but you will have these people in every society. Loving or hating someone just because of beard is ridiculous, however there is nothing wrong in wishing an oversea Pakistanis a successful career.

Too often we are given credit for horrible news so there is nothing wrong in getting a tad excited if a oversea Pakistani does well.

Good post. Agreed.

Because right now they have shield cricket going on. They want their players to play domestic cricket and improve their technique. Plus they would be playing against NZ in NZ and Khwaja is a member of that squad. When IPL Dtargs Australia's cricket season is already over so players and CA makes them available for the IPL.

I knew he was a Pakistani when I saw his constant refusal to tuck his jersey in, which doesn't matter since he doesn't have a Pakistani professional cricketer's superb physique anyway. Doesn't matter though as he is in the form of his life.

We? I thought only one poster(Bilal7) said that and you make it sound like every Pakistani shares his view. Has any other poster claimed that they want Amla to do well against Pakistan?

I have never seen someone so obsessed with someone on forum like Mamoon is with Bilal7. He keeps mentioning him in every thread. Hates payers, teams he like. Generalize every Pakistani based on his opinions. His obsession with Bilal7 is unbelievable.

I can recall 2/3 who agreed with him in that particular thread, and many other people in general do have an obsession with Amla. Have noticed this in real life too, not just PakPassion. Can only speak from my experience, maybe you haven't noticed it.

As many here would testify, it is a two-way street.

I know Amla has a fan base here but that's understandable as people tend to support cricketers they relate to.

However I personally haven't seen any person wishing that Amla scores or does well against Pakistan. If such people exist I would think they are in a minority.

Why are some people criticising about his poor innings against Ashwin or spin ??

I suggest people judge him on what he done in the last few months which has been nothing short of exceptional.

When and if he fails against Ashwin (who is decent but over hyped) or any other spinner then that will be the time to criticise his failings but not when they haven't happened.

Some really bizzare lame arguments against this guy.

Seems like a privileged group. I must say, cricket seems to be in good hands.

PSL is right after BBL. If players can play in the BBL they can play in a short league like PSL. I think it's a money issue, but that might not be 100% the case as even the non-contracted players are not available.

no, the shield cricket is still going on. Shield cricket is Australia's four day tournament.

Take a step backwards.

Khawaja missed Australia's only international match this summer on a sporting track against a good attack - at Adelaide against New Zealand.

All of his runs have been scored on easy batting tracks against substandard attacks.

Well he is no salman butt :yk2

He has done well till now but mostly on easy pitches. I will wait for NZ tour then only I can really come to any conclusion.

Khawaja was born in Islamabad, Pakistan, and his family emigrated to New South Wales when he was a child. He became the first Muslim cricketer to represent Australia when he made his debut in the 2010–11 Ashes series. He is a qualified commercial and instrument rated pilot, completing a bachelor's degree in Aviation from the University of New South Wales before he made his test debut. He attained his basic pilot licence before his driving licence.[20] He was educated at Westfields Sports High School.

Did he learnt Cricket in Pakistan?

well I'll say what what I see.

This discussion has gotten so stale. Yes, I view Amla and Moeen and Khawaja and Ozil and Amir Khan as role-models because I can relate to them better than I can with other athletes. I fail to see the problem with this.

Maybe Mamoon will be kind enough to say why it irks him so much.

Please stop derailing the thread Mamoon and Bilal7.

And I have deleted other rubbish too, anyone referring or using the term bhai to take the mick out of others will be warned.

Thanks.

Usman Khawaja is the best ethnically Pakistani batsman outside of Pakistan. No debate here.

Sikandar Raza was doing well too but he seemed to have lost his form.

I remember one Owais Shah who was a fine batsman as well during his day. Khawaja being the only player of Pak descent in the Aussies side sticks out a bit which is why us Pak fans like him.
