He Used To Hit Her, Was Very Conservative': Shocking Details of Domestic Violence Emerge in Shamli Triple Murder Case

The woman who was killed by her husband for not wearing a burqa was a victim of domestic violence long before she was murdered, her aunt claimed. Calling the woman's husband "very conservative", the aunt said he used to hit her and had forced her to cut ties with her family.

Shamli: Shocking details of domestic violence have surfaced after a woman named Taheera and her two minor daughters were killed by her husband for not wearing burqa while going out of their house in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused husband, identified as Mohammad Farooq, has been arrested.

'He Used To Hit Her'

In an exclusive interview with Republic, Taheera's paternal aunt revealed that Farooq used to hit Taheera. The aunt further alleged that the man had forced Taheera to cut ties with her family and friends.

'He Was Very Conservative'

The aunt also stated that Farooq was of a very conservative nature and did not let Taheera go anywhere. She added that Taheera recently ran away from her husband's home, came to her parents' house and stayed there for a month.

'Taheera Feared For Her Life'

Her aunt also shed light on how Taheera feared for her life before her horrific murder. During her stay at her parents' house, she had told her father that her husband was going to kill her, the aunt claimed.
Farooq allegedly begged her wife's family to send her back to him, promising that he would never hit her or ill treat her again in the future. Unaware that Farooq would break his promise and would commit a horrific crime, the woman's father forced her to go back to her husband, the aunt claimed. She said that while Taheera's father told her to forgive her husband for one last time, Taheera did not want to go back to him. She claimed the victim was sure that Farooq would surely kill her if she went back to him this time.

A complete animal. I don't know what kind of religious conservative he was. Islam doesn't permit killing wife and kids like this. He also broke his promise which is another sin.

He should get the capital punishment 100%. A complete monster.

Also, the deceased wife's father should be ashamed of himself. He forced his daughter to go to that monster again.

Dead Body in Metal Box: UP Locals Follow Foul Smell to Abandoned Box, Find Minor Boy Inside

An abandoned metal box in Bareilly revealed the body of a young boy, prompting a murder probe. Police suspect kidnapping, are examining CCTV, clues, and missing-person reports to identify the child.

New Delhi: An abandoned metal box found near bushes in Bareilly’s Izzatnagar area on Tuesday drew attention due to a strong pungent smell. When police arrived and opened the box, they discovered the body of a boy aged around 8–10 years. The remains were sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of death. The box was located under the Nakatia river bridge along the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway.
Police suspect the child was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the spot to avoid detection. “When the box was opened, the body of a boy was recovered. Initial signs suggest he may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped here,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Manush Parikh, as reported by PTI. A forensic team examined the scene and collected several crucial clues, officials added.

Besides the dead body, the police found a blanket, packets of snacks and biscuits inside the box. As per the preliminary findings, the police think that the kidnapper must have lured the kid using the snacks and later killed him. Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya has formed four teams to crack the case, the media report added.

The Izzatnagar police are probing the case from multiple angles, including murder, kidnapping and the possibility of occult-related activity, as certain items found in the box have raised suspicion. Efforts are underway to establish the child's identity. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined and all missing-person reports filed in surrounding localities are being scrutinised, police added.

Bengaluru Cabbie, Fed Up With Younger Brother’s Abuse at Home, Stabs His Neck in Pre-Planned Murder

Three men, including elder brother Shivraj, have been arrested for the murder of 24-year-old Dhanaraj, whose body was found near Bengaluru. Initially suspected to be an accidental death, the case shifted after CCTV footage revealed the suspects dumping the body.

Bengaluru: Police have arrested three men, including an elder brother, for the murder of 24-year-old Dhanaraj, whose decomposed body was found dumped along the Bannerghatta–Kaggalipura stretch earlier this month on the outskirts of Bengaluru. What initially appeared to be a natural or accidental death has now been established as a calculated fratricide driven by years of domestic violence, thefts, and constant turmoil at home.
On 6 November, Bannerghatta Police found a decomposed male body lying by the roadside. With no immediate signs of external injury, officers suspected an unnatural but not necessarily criminal death.
However, CCTV footage from a nearby private company completely changed the direction of the investigation. The visuals showed a car slowing down, stopping briefly, and two people pushing a body out before driving away. This footage became the crucial lead that cracked the case.

A Family Torn by Violence

Both the victim and the main accused, 28-year-old Shivraj, hailed from Aland in Kalaburagi district. According to police, Dhanaraj had a long history of violent and criminal behaviour. He frequently assaulted family members, stole from neighbours, picked fights after drinking, and had even attacked his elder brother during confrontations.
Neighbours from their home district had repeatedly complained about thefts, including mobile phones and even livestock, all allegedly committed by Dhanaraj.Shivraj, who works as a cab driver in HSR Layout, eventually “reached breaking point”, police said.

The Murder Plan: A Job Offer Used as Bait

Unable to cope with the constant harassment at home, Shivraj allegedly decided to kill his younger brother. On 2 November, he called Dhanaraj to Bengaluru on the pretext of helping him find work.
Shivraj arrived at Bannerghatta–NICE Road along with two close friends — Sandeep (24) and Prashanth (26). The men picked up Dhanaraj, who took the front passenger seat.
As he scrolled through his phone, Sandeep and Prashanth allegedly grabbed him from behind. At that moment, Shivraj struck his brother on the neck with a machete, killing him inside the car.

Cover-Up Attempt: Body Dumped, Weapons Disposed

Police said the accused later dumped the body along the Bannerghatta–Kaggalipura road. They also disposed of the bloodstained floor mat and the machete near Electronic City–NICE Road in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Once officers reviewed the CCTV clip, they traced the vehicle number and identified the suspects. Bannerghatta Police arrested all three men and recovered key evidence.
A case of murder has been registered, and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

Desperate To Reunite With Ex, UP Man Turns To Black Magic, Doesn’t Return Home

On the evening of November 24, the accused called the victim to his village for "final rituals". A dispute broke out when Neelu allegedly demanded more money and he stabbed the man to death.

A man had gone to a self-styled 'tantrik' to win back his former lover, but was killed during a ritual, said police. The Police arrested a self-styled 'tantrik' for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old man near a mazar in Shivli after a dispute over "vashikaran" ritual.
The victim, identified as Rajababu from Arshadpur village, had sought the accused, Neelu, to allegedly help him win back his former girlfriend, who had married another man in April.
He initially paid the 'tantrik' Rs 36,000 and later an additional Rs 1.5 lakh for the promised rituals, Superintendent of Police (Kanpur Dehat) Shraddha Narendra Pandey told news agency PTI.

On the evening of November 24, Neelu called Rajababu to his village for "final rituals". After purchasing liquor, the two proceeded to a nearby field where Neelu staged a fake ritual and made the youth write a note, police said.

A dispute broke out when Neelu allegedly demanded more money. During the quarrel, he allegedly stabbed Rajababu multiple times in the chest with a knife, killing him on the spot. Neelu then placed the murder weapon in Rajababu's hand and attached a note and a photograph of his ex-girlfriend to the body to make it appear as a suicide, police added.
The youth's body was recovered the next morning (on November 25). A liquor packet found at the scene led investigators to a nearby shop, where CCTV footage showed him with Neelu shortly before the incident.
Neelu was arrested after initially attempting to mislead the probe but later allegedly confessed during questioning.
The murder weapon has been recovered, and post-mortem and CCTV evidence were also collected, the SP said.
"The crime was committed purely for money under the garb of occult practices," Pandey said, adding that further legal formalities are underway.

'Agar shor machaya...': Delhi woman pours hot oil, red chilli powder on sleeping husband

While he was sleeping, Dinesh suddenly felt a sharp pain and saw his wife, Sadhna, pouring boiling oil and red chilli powder on him. When Dinesh protested, his wife threatened him further and said: "Agar shor machaya to aur garam tel daal doongi."

New Delhi:
A shocking case has been reported in Delhi where a woman allegedly poured boiling oil and red chilli powder on her husband while he was sleeping. The incident took place on October 2 in south Delhi's Madangir after Dinesh Kumar, a 28-year-old pharmaceutical firm worker, returned to his home and slept after eating his dinner.

While he was sleeping, Dinesh suddenly felt a sharp pain and saw his wife, Sadhna, pouring boiling oil and red chilli powder on him. When Dinesh protested, his wife threatened him further and said: "'Agar shor machaya to aur garam tel daal doongi' (if you shout, I will pour more oil on you)."

However, unable to bear the pain, Dinesh kept shouting, which alerted his neighbours and the landlord. Anjali, the daughter of the house owner, was one of the people who made a run to check on Dinesh. "My father went upstairs to see what was happening. The door was locked. His wife had locked the door from inside. We asked them to open the door. When the door finally opened, we saw him writhing in pain and his wife hiding inside the house," she told news agency PTI.

Dinesh rushed to hospital

The landlord, along with his brother-in-law Ram Sagar, rushed to save Dinesh. When they arrived at Dinesh's house, they saw that Sadhna was taking him to the hospital. However, Anjali said they became suspicious of her after she headed towards the opposite direction. "My father stopped her, arranged an auto, and rushed Dinesh with Ram Sagar to the hospital," she said.

However, the Ram Sagar Hospital referred Dinesh to the Safdarjung Hospital after seeing the deep burns on his chest, face, and arms.

FIR registered

The police, meanwhile, have lodged a complaint at the Ambedkar Nagar Police Station and booked Sadhna under sections 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means), 124 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by acid) and 326 (mischief by injury, inundation, fire or explosive substance, etc) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

"My wife and daughter were sleeping nearby. Around 3.15 am, I suddenly felt a sharp, burning pain across my body. I saw my wife standing and pouring boiling oil on my torso and face. Before I could get up or call for help, she sprinkled red chilli powder on my burns," Dinesh alleged in his complaint, as reported by PTI.

Marital feud?

Dinesh, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh, has been married to Sadhna for the past eight years, but the couple has had a troubled relationship. Two years ago, his wife filed a complaint with the Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell, but the matter was settled through a compromise. A police source said the couple had a row on the day of the incident as well.

"Initial investigation suggested that there has been a dispute between the couple for a long time. A complaint was made against the man two years back, but the matter was resolved after mediation. Another complaint was filed against Dinesh some months ago," the source told PTI.

Looks like he was abusing her, previousy she filed a CAW case against him, and something happened few months ago - guessing another violence against her.

Days after a man from Punjab's Ludhiana died by suicide, his ex-wife, currently in London, released a video alleging mental torture and dowry harassment by her in-laws.

Kumar and Kaur got married in June 2019, the village sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh said, adding that the man also sold a plot of land worth Rs 11 lakh to finance Kaur's travel to England. He alleged that Kaur and her parents made Kumar sign divorce documents without his knowledge and also assured him that she would call him to England later.

Sukhwinder Singh said that after the two divorced in September 2024, Kaur married Gurpreet Singh a month later. Kumar's mother added that he himself had solemnised Kaur's second marriage in court as it was being done to facilitate her move to England on a study visa. His family said that the understanding was that once she reached England, the woman would divorce Gurpreet Singh and remarry Kumar.

He Was Depressed Over Ex-Wife's Move To UK, Then He Died By Suicide

Days after a man from Punjab's Ludhiana died by suicide, his ex-wife, currently in London, released a video alleging mental torture and dowry harassment by her in-laws.

The Ludhiana Police had registered a case against Kirandeep Kaur and her parents based on a complaint filed by 24-year-old Sunil Kumar's family, who have blamed her for his death. In their statement, the man's parents claimed that his ex-wife moved to England and had severed contact with him after leaving India, which allegedly pushed him into depression and eventually led to his suicide.

A year later, the woman left for England and was allegedly seen off by Kumar. On reaching the UK, the sarpanch said, she stopped taking Kumar and his family's calls.

Responding to these allegations, Kaur said in her video that Kumar and his parents had repeatedly harrassed her for dowry since as early as 3-4 days of them getting married. She claimed repeated threats of suicide from his end, a behaviour his family members later told her he exhibited even before their marriage. She refuted that he was pressured for a divorce, adding that it was finalised in court in August 2024 and that she has the papers.

Holding a B.Ed. degree, Kaur said she never wanted to go abroad and was forced by her husband to take the IELTS and go abroad. Later, she said, Kumar's family began torturing her mentally about her family not agreeing to share the expenses of sending her abroad.

Kaur further contradicted the family's claims of a 2019 wedding, saying they got married in June 2021. She said that they had not spoken for 25 days before he died by suicide on December 8.

An FIR against Kaur, her parents and Gurpreet Singh has been registered under the Sections 108 (abetment to suicide), 318 (4) (cheating), 3(5) (criminal act done with common intention) of Bharat Nyay Sanhita.

Hyderabad: Teased Over School Uniform, Class 4 Student Hangs Himself Using ID Card; Probe Underway

The victim, Prasanth, was allegedly distressed after being repeatedly teased over his school uniform, following which he ended his life when he was alone, using a school ID card lanyard.

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old boy, identified as Prashanth, ended his life after allegedly being harassed by his classmates for not wearing his school uniform properly. The victim, who was a class 4 student, took this extreme step in the washroom of his house a few minutes after returning from school on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the cops sprang into action after learning about the tragic case and questioned his parents regarding his death.
Reports suggest that Prasanth was allegedly distressed after being repeatedly teased over his school uniform, following which he ended his life when he was alone, using a school ID card lanyard. The victim's family rushed him to the hospital for further treatment, but he was declared dead by the doctors.

Following the legal formalities, the child's body was moved to his native village for the last rites. Narrating the tragic incident, the victim's father, who worked as a watchman in the building where his family stays, stated the boy was very active and had no problem with anyone.

In another similar incident, a 14-year-old boy in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, reportedly attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of a private school last month. CCTV footage shows him running upstairs before the jump. The student, a two-time national champion, sustained leg fractures and spinal injuries but is currently stable.
The incident followed a disciplinary action after he made a reel in class. Footage shows teachers dismissing his achievements before the principal announced his suspension. The boy had brought a mobile phone to school two days earlier, which led to a meeting with his parents.

Preliminary investigations suggest stress or fear as possible reasons. Tribal groups have protested outside the school, demanding cancellation of its recognition and the intervention of the district education officer.

Woman, 48, Stabbed To Death Inside Temple In Delhi, 1 Arrested: Cops

The incident occurred around noon inside a temple located in the DDA flats complex when the victim was offering prayers, they said.

New Delhi:
A 48-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside a temple in east Delhi's Mansarovar Park area on Sunday, police said, adding that a woman was arrested later in the day and the weapon of offence recovered.

The incident occurred around noon inside a temple located in the DDA flats complex when the victim was offering prayers, they said.

A PCR call was received at around 12 pm reporting the stabbing, police said.

The victim, identified as Kusum Sharma, a resident of Mansarovar Park, sustained multiple stab injuries to the head and upper body. She was rushed to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

"We have detained the main accused, a woman identified as Anchal Saxena. The weapon of offence has also been recovered," DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said in a statement.

He said the caller informed the police that two people had stabbed a woman priest in the head.

Preliminary investigation suggests that two people, including the detained woman, repeatedly attacked Sharma with a knife, causing fatal injuries, the officer said.

"Prima facie, it appears to be an old enmity, but further investigation into the matter is underway. Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the case," the DCP said.

Police said several teams from the district and crime units were formed to apprehend the accused and one of them was detained later in the day.

Officers are scanning CCTV footage from the DDA flats, nearby streets, parks and entry-exit points to trace the movement of the attackers before and after the crime.

Footage from multiple locations in and around the area is being examined, and technical surveillance and local intelligence are being used to establish the identity of the other assailant, the officer said, adding that forensic teams have inspected the spot.

While the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established, initial inquiry points to a possible case of personal enmity or a targeted attack, police said.

"All angles are being thoroughly investigated, including personal disputes. At this stage, nothing is being ruled out," the officer said.

Family members, neighbours and local residents have been questioned to piece together the sequence of events.

A case of murder has been registered at the Mansarovar Park police station, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Children Picking Up Drugs, Smoking In 10 Indian Cities Around 13 Years: Study

School-going children are picking up drug and smoking habits and engaging in consumption of alcohol, with the average age of introduction to such harmful substances found to be around 13 years, a multi-city survey by AIIMS-Delhi said.

New Delhi:
School-going children are picking up drug and smoking habits and engaging in consumption of alcohol, with the average age of introduction to such harmful substances found to be around 13 years, suggesting a need for earlier interventions as early as primary school, a multi-city survey by AIIMS-Delhi said.

The findings also showed substance use increased in higher grades, with grade XI/XII students two times more likely to report use of substances when compared with grade VIII students. This emphasised the importance of continued prevention and intervention through middle and high school.

The study led by Dr Anju Dhawan of AIIMS's National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre, published in the National Medical Journal of India this month, looks at adolescent substance use across diverse regions.

The survey included 5,920 students from classes 8, 9, 11 and 12 in urban government, private and rural schools across 10 cities -- Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi, Dibrugarh, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ranchi. The data were collected between May 2018 and June 2019.

The average age of initiation for any substance was 12.9 (2.8) years. It was lowest for inhalants (11.3 years) followed by heroin (12.3 years) and opioid pharmaceuticals (without prescription; 12.5 years).

Overall, 15.1 per cent of participants reported lifetime use, 10.3 per cent reported past year use, and 7.2 per cent reported use in the past month of any substance, the study found.

The most common substances used in the past year, after tobacco (4 per cent) and alcohol (3.8 per cent), were opioids (2.8 per cent), followed by cannabis (2 per cent) and inhalants (1.9 per cent). Use of non-prescribed pharmaceutical opioids was most common among opioid users (90.2 per cent).

On being asked, 'Do you think this substance is easily available for a person of your age' separately for each substance category, nearly half the students (46.3 per cent) endorsed that tobacco products and more than one-third of the students (36.5 per cent) agreed that a person of their age can easily procure alcohol products.

Similarly, for Bhang (21.9 per cent), ganja/charas (16.1 per cent), inhalants (15.2 per cent), sedatives (13.7 per cent), opium and heroin (10 per cent each), the students endorsed that these can be easily procured.

About 95 per cent of the children, irrespective of their grade, agreed with the statement that 'drug use is harmful'.

The rates of substance use (any) among boys were significantly higher than those of girls for substance use (ever), use in the past year and use in the past 30 days. Compared to grade VIII students, grade IX students were more likely, and grade XI/XII students were twice as likely to have used any substance (ever).

The likelihood of past-year use of any substance was also higher for grade IX students and for grade XI/XII students as compared to grade VIII students.

About 40 per cent of students mentioned that they had a family member who used tobacco or alcohol each. The use of cannabis (any product) and opioid (any product) by a family member was reported by 8.2 per cent and 3.9 per cent of students, respectively, while the use of other substances, such as inhalants/sedatives by family was 2-3 per cent, the study found.

A relatively smaller percentage of students reported use of tobacco or alcohol among peers as compared to among family members, while a higher percentage reported inhalants, sedatives, cannabis or opioid use among peers.

Children using substances (past year) compared to non-users reported significantly higher any substance use by their family members and peers.

There were 25.7 per cent students who replied 'yes' to the question 'conflicts/fights often occur in your family'. Most students also replied affirmatively to 'family members are aware of how their time is being spent' and 'damily members are aware of with whom they spend their time'.

Salumber tense after murders of women, 5 year old grandson

Udaipur: The Semari police station area of Salumber district remained on edge for the second consecutive day Sunday
following the brutal murders of an elderly woman and her young grandson. The victims, identified as Gauri (65) and her five-year-old grandson Surendra, were discovered with severe injuries Saturday prompting outrage among family members and villagers who have refused to bury the bodies until justice is served.

According to the police, robbery motives were initially assumed as the accused amputated Gauri's legs to steal
her silver anklets. However, further police investigations indicated that no valuable items were taken, leading authorities to
suspect foul play rather than a straightforward robbery.

Salumber SP Rajesh Yadav visited the crime scene Saturday morning alongside a forensic science team to gather crucial evidence Yadav emphasised that while the attack appeared to have been staged as a robbery, the injuries inflicted upon the
victims suggest a more calculated and violent intention. Vilagers, alongside the grieving family, are demanding the arrest of
the prime suspect—the woman's son-in-law Gangaram Meena—and compensation for the kin.

Biryani, Spiked Beer & 'Roopa' Tattoo: Bengaluru Techie Strangles Wife With Dupatta After First Attempt Fails

In Bengaluru, a young woman, Ashwini D, was brutally murdered by her husband, Vinay Kumar, following a confrontation about his tattoo of another woman. Their marriage deteriorated due to his affair. Prosecutors revealed that Kumar, fearing Ashwini might confront him or take action, planned the murder meticulously. After drugging her with a beer mixed with sleeping pills, he strangled her when she remained alive.

Bengaluru: What began as a question over a tattoo on her husband’s forearm ended in the brutal murder of a young woman and a life sentence for her husband. A city court in Bengaluru has convicted Vinay Kumar (33) for killing his wife Ashwini D (29) inside their home in April 2021, holding that the crime was premeditated and executed with chilling intent.
Kumar, an engineer and a resident of A Narayanapura in Mahadevapura, had married Ashwini in 2018 after the two met at a family wedding. Ashwini was a classmate of Kumar’s younger sister. The marriage, however, began to unravel three years later when Kumar returned home with a tattoo reading “Roopa” inked on his right forearm.
When Ashwini questioned him about the tattoo and asked who Roopa was, Kumar gave evasive replies. She later discovered that he was having an affair, according to a TOI report.

‘He Feared She Would Act Against Him’

Prosecutors told the court that Kumar feared Ashwini might take legal or personal action against him. Unwilling to end his relationship with Roopa, he decided to eliminate his wife.

As per the TOI report, public prosecutor Satyavati HR said that the murder was carefully planned. On the night of April 16, 2021, Kumar bought a can of beer and a strip of ten sleeping tablets before returning home.
After dinner, which included chicken biryani, Kumar allegedly forced Ashwini to drink beer that he had secretly mixed with sleeping tablets. She soon fell into a deep sleep. Believing the overdose would kill her, Kumar went to bed.

When he found her still breathing the next morning, he strangled her using her dupatta. “Afterwards, he stepped out of the house and raised the alarm, claiming his wife was lying motionless,” Satyavati said.
With a neighbour’s help, Kumar took Ashwini to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Initially, Kumar managed to convince Ashwini’s parents and relatives that she had died naturally. However, Mahadevapura Police ordered a post-mortem, and viscera samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory.
The autopsy revealed death due to strangulation, while FSL reports confirmed the presence of alcohol and sleeping tablets in Ashwini’s system, leading to Kumar’s arrest.

CCTV, Witnesses Seal Conviction

During the trial, circumstantial evidence proved decisive. Testimonies from a wine shop cashier and a medical store assistant, supported by CCTV footage, showed that Kumar had purchased beer and sleeping tablets on the night of the murder.
After police filed the charge-sheet, Kumar sought bail. Investigators later found that the surety documents submitted were fake and informed the court that his family had distanced themselves from him after the crime. The bail plea was rejected, and Kumar remained lodged at Bengaluru Central Prison.
The court ultimately found Kumar guilty of murdering his wife and sentenced him to life imprisonment, closing a case that laid bare how suspicion, betrayal and calculated violence destroyed a young life.

Bengaluru: A 39-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her estranged husband on Tuesday evening, December 23. The couple had been living separately for the past one-and-a-half months due to marital discord. Bengaluru Man Takes Wife to ‘Future Home,’ Claims She Died in Accident; Post-Mortem Reveals the Truth

In Bengaluru, a 64-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over frequent financial disputes, falsely claiming a road accident; post-mortem revealed blunt-force injuries, leading to his arrest and confession.

Bengaluru: A 64-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and tried to mislead the police by claiming she had been hit by a random car, officials said on Tuesday. His false claims were exposed after the post-mortem examination revealed a different cause of death. The accused, Ananth, a resident of Chikkabommasandra, was arrested on Monday and later confessed to murdering his wife following frequent disputes between them. He also explained to police how he carried out the crime.
The couple had a daughter studying in Class 12. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Ananth took his 55-year-old wife, Gayathri, a physical education teacher at a government school, to Mittiganahalli on the pretext of looking for property to purchase, police said, as per news agency PTI.

According to preliminary investigation, Ananth took her to an under-construction building on a scooter, where he allegedly struck her head repeatedly with a stone.

How He Tried to Mislead the Police
He later called for an ambulance, claiming that his wife had been involved in a road accident. She was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Initially, Ananth told police that an unknown vehicle had hit her. However, suspicion arose when the post-mortem report revealed multiple head injuries caused by a blunt object. Upon further questioning, he allegedly confessed to the murder.
Frequent Fights Over Money
Investigation revealed that the couple frequently argued over financial issues, with the accused claiming that his wife would quarrel whenever he requested money, the officer said. A case of murder has been registered at the Bhagaluru police station, and Ananth remains in custody as further investigation continues.

How dumb do you have to be, did he think the post mortem would show the injuries as nothing related to car hit???

Turned away by 2 hospitals, no ambulance: Bengaluru man dies of heart attack on road

A 34-year-old Bengaluru man died after suffering a heart attack despite multiple attempts to seek medical help. No ambulance or bystander assistance was available as he was directed between hospitals. He died on the road while being taken to a third hospital.

A 34-year-old man died after suffering a heart attack in Bengaluru’s Banashankari area in the early hours of December 13, with no ambulance support or assistance from passersby, despite repeated attempts by his family to seek medical help.

The man, Venkataramanan, a resident of Balaji Nagar in Ittamadu, Banashankari 3rd Stage, developed chest pain at his home at around 3.30 am.

His condition worsened rapidly, and he became critically ill and vomited. In an attempt to save his life, his wife took him on a two-wheeler to a private hospital, Udbhav Hospital, near Katriguppe Janata Bazaar.

As no doctors were available at the facility, the couple proceeded to another nearby private hospital, Re-Life Hospital. An electrocardiogram conducted there indicated that Venkataramanan had suffered a mild heart attack. However, the hospital neither provided primary treatment nor administered an Isordil-5 tablet, and instead advised the couple to go to Jayadeva Hospital. They were also asked to leave immediately and were not provided an ambulance.

With no ambulance arranged, the couple left the hospital on the two-wheeler and headed towards Jayadeva Hospital. While on the way, near Kadrihalli Bridge, Venkataramanan again experienced severe chest pain.

Due to the intensity of the pain, he lost control of the bike and crashed, moving forward before stopping. After travelling about 100 metres, he became extremely unwell and fell off the bike.

His wife pleaded for help from passersby, but no one came forward to assist him. Venkataramanan suffered a cardiac arrest and died on the road before medical help could reach him.
Venkataramanan earned his livelihood as a mechanic at a garage. He was married on January 27, 2020, and is survived by his wife, a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and a five-year-old son.

The tragedy has also deeply affected his mother. She had six children, five of whom died at different stages of life. Venkataramanan was the sixth child and the last surviving son. Upon hearing of his death, she suffered a heart attack and was left critically ill. She later recovered following treatment.

Heartless India, how can you turn him away, not 1 hospital but 2, what scam are the doctors doing now, dont wanna risk having a patient dying in the hospital??? do the doctors get ore money???

Dispute over friend on Lanka honeymoon behind Bengaluru newly-weds' suicide?

Just weeks into his marriage, Bengaluru man Suraj Shivanna drove nearly 1,000 km from home and killed himself after being accused of abetting the suicide of his wife, Ganavi. It has been alleged that the revelation of a pre-marital friendship during the couple's Sri Lanka honeymoon led to the trip being cut short and the couple's death, days apart.

It was a dispute over a pre-marital friendship that surfaced during their honeymoon in Sri Lanka that spiralled into a double tragedy for two Bengaluru families, according to multiple reports. Ganavi, and her husband, Suraj Shivanna, the couple from Bengaluru, died by suicide, days apart. After Ganavi died by suicide and an outrage followed, 35-year-old Suraj fled Bengaluru with his family before ending his life in a hotel room in Nagpur, almost 1,000 kilometres away. There were allegations of dowry harassment against him.

Suraj's 60-year-old mother, Jayanti Shivanna, too attempted to kill herself, but survived.

Suraj Shivanna and Ganavi got married on October 29 in Bengaluru. The newly-weds left soon after on a 10-day honeymoon to Sri Lanka. The trip was cut short within days after the alleged dispute erupted over revelations about a pre-marital friendship, leading to heated arguments and her reported expression of disinterest in continuing the marriage with Suraj.

DID THE SRI LANKA HONEYMOON FALLOUT CHANGE EVERYTHING FOR SURAJ, GANAVI?

Suraj Shivanna, a franchise owner of an online delivery service from Vijayanagar in Bengaluru, had married Ganavi, an MBA graduate, in an arranged ceremony on October 29. Family sources told The Times of India that the wedding was lavish, but Ganavi was reportedly reluctant and had been pressured into the marriage by her aunt.

Soon after, the couple left for a 10-day honeymoon to Sri Lanka. However, the trip turned sour within days, reported PTV News.

During the honeymoon, revelations about a pre-marital friendship surfaced, leading to heated arguments, a family source told The Times of India (TOI), adding that Ganavi expressed disinterest in continuing the marriage. The rift widened, and the couple cut short the honeymoon, returning to Bengaluru after just five days.

FAILED MEDIATION ATTEMPT AND THE WIFE'S SUICIDE AFTER HONEYMOON

Back in Bengaluru, efforts by family members to mediate failed.

"I tried to broker peace, assuring the couple the matter would be sorted soon, but they didn't listen," Suraj's elder brother Sanjay Shivanna told the English daily.

Ganavi left for her father's home that night. Hours later, Ganavi hanged herself. She was taken to a hospital for treatment but died.

Her family accused Suraj and his relatives of torturing her for dowry, leading Bengaluru Police to register a case of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against him. The woman's family also staged a protest demanding strict action.

30 PEOPLE STORMED SURAJ'S HOME, ALLEGES FAMILY; MADE THEM FLEE BENGALURU

There are allegations and counter-allegations between the two families after the twin deaths.

According to Suraj's brother, Sanjay, the case unleashed intense pressure on the family.

"Around 30 people stormed our house at Vijayanagar, searching for Suraj, who was named in an FIR for dowry harassment. We were traumatised and in fear. We had no option but to escape Bengaluru," Sanjay was quoted as saying by TOI.

Denying the dowry allegations, Sanjay said, "We did not make any demands. We covered all wedding expenses. It's shocking on their part to hurl such allegations. Instead, Ganavi's family had begun issuing death threats to us. My brother was scared and apologetic".

On December 23, Suraj, his mother Jayanti, and brother Sanjay drove to Hyderabad. The next day, they travelled onward to Nagpur. They booked two rooms at a hotel within Sonegaon police limits in Maharashtra's Nagpur late Friday night.

SUICIDE AT NAGPUR HOTEL, SURAJ DIES, MOTHER SURVIVES

The tragedy unfolded shortly after midnight. As per the FIR, Suraj hanged himself from a ceiling fan using a dupatta. He was found by his mother, Jayanti, around 12.30 am on Saturday.

In shock, Jayanti also tried to kill herself, but the noose snapped and she survived. She raised an alarm, alerting the hotel staff and Sanjay, who informed the police. Suraj was rushed to AIIMS Nagpur, where doctors declared him dead around 3 am.

Senior Inspector Nitin Magar of Sonegaon police station said, "Suraj Shivanna hanged himself from a ceiling fan in the hotel room. After learning about her son's death, his mother, Jayanti, attempted suicide but was saved. She has been admitted to a hospital and is out of danger".

The Nagpur Police have registered a case of the death in Nagpur for now and are coordinating with Bengaluru police, where the abetment case related to Ganavi's death is pending. Suraj's autopsy report is awaited to rule out foul play.

The story began with the marriage of Suraj and Ganavi, barely six weeks old, and then an alleged dispute during a honeymoon abroad involving a pre-marital friendship. It has ended in two deaths, with two families grieving as investigations now stretching across states.

Thane Woman's Mysterious Death: 'Snake Bite’ Case Exposed as Murder After 3 Years - Here's What Happened

Neerja Rupesh Ambekar died at her residence in Ujwaldeep Society, Badlapur East, on July 10, 2022, said a police official. At that time, it was recorded as an accidental death.

In a shocking revelation, three years after a woman from Badlapur, Maharashtra, died from a poisonous snake bite, the police have now uncovered that it was, in fact, a "murder", news agency PTI reported. The incident happened close to Mumbai, falling under the Badlapur police jurisdiction.
The Badlapur police have now arrested a man and three others for allegedly murdering the woman, who was his wife, using a poisonous snake.
Neerja Rupesh Ambekar died at her residence in Ujwaldeep Society, Badlapur East, on July 10, 2022, said a police official. At that time, it was recorded as an accidental death.

How was the 'murder' angle linked?

However, police grew suspicious after noticing contradictions in the statements of some of the witnesses, the official said.
Probe revealed that 40-year-old Rupesh, the woman's husband, was frustrated by frequent domestic disputes. Moreover, when the accused were called in for detailed questioning, they reportedly confessed, claiming that Rupesh wanted to kill his wife because he felt “mentally harassed” by her in the months following their marriage, according to a HT report.
He then allegedly conspired with his friends Rishikesh Ramesh Chalke and 25-year-old Kunal Vishwanath Chaudhary to kill her, PTI reported.

Further, they even roped in Chetan Vijay Dudhan (36), a snake rescue volunteer, who allegedly provided a venomous snake. The accused allegedly made the snake bite the woman, causing her death.
An FIR was registered on Thursday for murder. The police are now investigating the case further and the probe is underway, senior inspector Nitin Patil told PTI.

Maharashtra Murder: Woman Uses Dead Lover’s Blood as Sindoor - Did Police Suggest The Brother to Kill Him?

Anchal claimed that her family said that if he wanted to marry her, he would have to convert to Hinduism, which he was ready to do. However, her family was just waiting for an opportunity to kill him.

After a 23-year-old man was allegedly murdered in Maharashtra's Nanded, his girlfriend, Anchal, on Monday (December 1) made a shocking revelation in the case. She said that since her boyfriend was from the Scheduled Caste, her family was opposing their marriage. The woman also applied vermillion on her head with the blood of her boyfriend.
While speaking to ANI, Anchal claimed that her family said that if he wanted to marry her, he would have to convert to Hinduism, which he was ready to do. However, her family was just waiting for an opportunity to kill him.
"We were together for three years. My family got to know about it. Because he was a Scheduled Caste, my family did not agree to our marriage. My family had told him that if he wanted to marry me, he would have to convert to Hinduism. He was ready to do this also. My family was just waiting for an opportunity to kill him. We had talked in the morning when he was going to the station to drop off his aunt," she said.

Anchal continued, "Even I had no idea this would happen. I got to know about this the next day from the newspaper. No one told me about it."

Did Police Suggest Her Brother To Kill Him?

Anchal further revealed that the day Saksham was killed, her brother took her to the police station to file a false case against him; however, she did not agree to file any case.
"The policemen told my brother that instead of fabricating cases, why don't you actually kill the concerned person before coming to us? My brother took it as a challenge and killed Saksham," she added.

Anchal Married His Dead Body

The incident was reported from Nanded’s Milind Nagar, under Itwara Police Station limits, Maharashtra on Thursday evening. Police say Sakhyam Tate and Aanchal had been in a relationship for three years.
Their bond grew from friendship. Sakhyam often visited Aanchal’s home as he was close to her brother. But Aanchal's family reportedly opposed the relationship because the two belonged to different castes.
Later, Aanchal reached Sakhyam’s home after learning of his death. Before the last rites, she reportedly carried out rituals that a bride performs for her groom. There she applied haldi to his body, placed sindoor on his forehead and then filled her own hair parting with vermillion.
Moreover, Aanchal has demanded the death penalty for those responsible.

Maharashtra Class 10 boy slits throat, kills classmate during a lecture at private coaching

A Pune Class 10 student killed his classmate by attacking him during a lecture at a private coaching centre in Rajgurunagar.

In a shocking incident, a class 10 student slit the throat of his classmate during a coaching class in Rajgurunagar, Ked taluk area of Pune, Maharashtra.

The incident happened as the teacher in the coaching class was taking the class on Monday morning.

The victim was taken to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

The two students had reportedly been engaged in an argument for the past few days. The minor had arrived late to the class and sat behind the victim at around 8:30 and 8:45.

He then proceeded to attack the boy and slit his throat. He also stabbed the boy in the stomach. The student then proceeded to flee the scene on a two-wheeler.

Police had rushed to the spot to find the student covered in blood. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause and main motive for the attack.

The father of the victim told ABP that his son had been attacked by the same boy and a group of his friends around three days ago.

Locals say that the minors in the area were involved in gang activities. There have been reports of frequent incidents, including arguments and fights between students studying in the Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya and related private classes.

This is not the first incident of students similarly attacking classmates.

In November, a class 9 student in Pune attacked his classmate by slitting her throat with a broken bottle following a heated argument related to the school's annual day function. He had attacked the girl from behind, which resulted in a massive wound and bleeding.

The juvenile offender was produced before the JJB and sent to an observation home.

Sad news, you think the police would have punished the gang harder from the first attack.

Family Alleges Black Magic in Techie’s Death Protests in Jagtial Telangana

The late-night protest triggered tension and fear among villagers. While the local community continues to mourn the loss of a highly educated young professional, the strong influence of superstition surrounding her death has emerged as a major point of discussion in the district.

Karimnagar: Residents of Mothe village in Jagtial Urban mandal were left shocked after the family members and relatives of a deceased software engineer staged a unique protest, alleging that their daughter’s death was caused by black magic. The family marched through the village streets in Jagtial district, demanding that the alleged spells be withdrawn. The incident follows the death of a 24-year-old woman from Mothe village, who was working as a software engineer in Bengaluru. She allegedly attempted suicide at her home on December 12. She was rushed to a private hospital in Karimnagar, where she died on December 14 while undergoing treatment. After a post-mortem examination, her last rites were performed at the local crematorium.

The situation took a dramatic turn the day after the funeral. When the family visited the cremation ground, they found the body only partially burnt. They arranged additional firewood to complete the cremation. However, when they returned the following night, they found that the ashes and remains were missing. The family also claimed to have noticed signs of black magic (kshudra puja) at the site. Convinced that these developments pointed to witchcraft, the family organised a rally. Carrying sticks and beating drums, they marched through the village, demanding that unidentified persons who had allegedly cast the spells reverse them. The family alleged that professional jealousy or personal enmity may have led to the use of black magic against the young techie. The late-night protest triggered tension and fear among villagers. While the local community continues to mourn the loss of a highly educated young professional, the strong influence of superstition surrounding her death has emerged as a major point of discussion in the district.

India: A Country that Doesn't Like Women

It is not easy being a woman in India; from birth to death discrimination and violence blight many of their lives due to an accident of birth. This beautiful and touching film explores womens place in today’s India.Starting with the village in Rajasthan where female infanticide is a tradition.
Few dare to stand up to the men of this village who dictate that baby girls are too expensive and openly admit they don’t want women to be educated for fear of losing their power. The girls that survive childhood will often fall victim to domestic violence, we meet with one such woman back with her parents after escaping her abusive husband.
Her family however is keen for her to reconcile with him as her presence brings them shame. The women who dare to stay single and go out at night unaccompanied are at risk of being raped and have very little chance of getting justice as the police often believe that her behaviour means she wanted it to happen. Lastly there are the widows, cast out from their families when their husbands die, with no one to look after them they survive by begging in the streets.

'Bullied by Joker Gang, Strangled': 14-Year-Old Odisha Student Killed By Three Classmates - What We Know

The police have confirmed that the class IX student was strangled to death by his classmates, further revealing that the three students had formed a gang themselves and named it the "Joker Gang."

In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old student at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) was strangled to death by three of his classmates. The class IX student died on Friday after being admitted to KIMS Medical College and Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The incident has sparked protests in Keonjhar district, with his family and relatives demanding a thorough investigation.
The Class 9 student was a resident of a village in the Keonjhar Town police station area. His family staged a protest outside the Keonjhar Collectorate with the body, alleging that the institute authorities concealed facts and failed to provide medical records clarifying the cause of death.
According to the police complaint filed by the boy's father, KISS authorities contacted him on Friday morning and informed him that his son had fallen ill and been hospitalised.

"When I reached the hospital in Bhubaneswar in the evening, the doctor declared my son dead and sent the body back to the village in an ambulance," the student's father, Raghunath Munda, said. "I noticed some marks on my son's neck. I have not yet received the medical report, nor have I been given any information about it."

How was the 14-year-old boy bullied?

Police Commissioner Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, S Dev Dutt Singh has confirmed that the class IX student was strangled to death by his classmates, further revealing that the three students had formed a gang themselves and named it the "Joker Gang."
The police further said that the student was assaulted and strangled inside a hostel washroom following a dispute.

Three students detained

Three students have been detained in connection with the murder.
Eight people, including the Additional CEO, Hustle Warden, and Hustle Supervisor of KIIS, have been arrested in total and sent to court for concealing the news and not informing the family members.
"The post-mortem report has confirmed death due to strangulation. KISS authorities allegedly handed over the body after falsely claiming that the student died of a heart attack. KISS authorities also failed to inform the local police about the incident. For negligence, eight KISS officials have been arrested and produced before the court. Among those arrested are an additional CEO, a TGT, and an assistant teacher," Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh said.

Kannada producer kidnaps actor-wife to demand custody of 1-year-old daughter

A film producer was accused of kidnapping his estranged wife, a Kannada actor, to force her family to hand over their one-year-old daughter. A case was registered in Bengaluru and an investigation was underway.

A film producer allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife, a Kannada actor and the mother of his one-year-old daughter, to force her family to hand over the child.

The accused, Harshavardhan, owner of Vardhan Enterprises, was named in a complaint by the actor’s family.

According to the complaint, the accused, Harshavardhan, owner of Vardhan Enterprises and a resident of Hassan district, married actress Chaitra R in 2023 with the consent of both families.

About seven to eight months ago, the two reportedly began living separately following domestic disputes, with Harshavardhan staying in Hassan and Chaitra moving to a rented house on Magadi Road in Bengaluru.

The complainant stated that Chaitra continued working as a television serial artist and film actress. On December 7, 2025, she informed family members that she was travelling to Mysuru for a shooting assignment. The complaint alleged that the shooting was a pretext arranged by Harshavardhan through his friend Kaushik, who also paid Chaitra an advance of Rs 20,000.

As per the FIR, Chaitra was allegedly called to the Mysuru Road Metro Station in Bengaluru around 8 am on December 7, where Harshavardhan, Kaushik and another person forced her into a car and abducted her, taking her via NICE Road and Bidadi. The information was conveyed to the family through a person known to Chaitra.

Later that evening, Harshavardhan allegedly called Chaitra’s mother and threatened that Chaitra would be released safely only if the child was brought to him. A similar message was allegedly conveyed to another relative, asking that the child be brought to Arsikere in exchange for Chaitra’s release.

The complainant said Chaitra’s phone was switched off when the family tried contacting her. She added that there was a delay in lodging the complaint as she was in Tiptur at the time and returned to Bengaluru before approaching the police.

Police have registered a case against Harshavardhan, Kaushik and another accused for kidnapping and criminal intimidation, and said investigations were underway.

Caught on CCTV: 2 cars mow down biker and child in UP's Deoria hit-and-run

A shocking hit-and-run incident on NH-727A in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district was caught on CCTV, showing a biker and a 12-year-old child being struck by two cars in quick succession.

A hit-and-run incident on National Highway 727A in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district has been captured on CCTV, showing a biker and a minor being struck in quick succession by two speeding cars before both vehicles fled the scene.

The footage, recorded on Saturday, shows a red car first ramming into a motorcycle, knocking the rider onto the road. Moments later, a black Hyundai Creta runs over the fallen man and the child riding pillion, dragging the bike along before speeding away.

Locals are seen rushing to help the injured as traffic comes to a halt. The video has since gone viral on social media.

The injured biker has been identified as Rajeev Prasad, a resident of Jaitpura village under the Rampur Karkhana police station area. He was travelling towards Betalpur around noon with a 12-year-old child on his motorcycle.

According to the police, Prasad was slowing down near a divider cut when the red car hit him from behind, causing him to fall. Before he could recover, the second vehicle struck both victims and escaped.

Gauri Bazaar station in-charge Rahul Singh said the injured were rushed to Maharshi Devaraha Baba Medical College for treatment. “The victims are undergoing treatment at the medical college. The biker has suffered a leg fracture, while the child is also being treated,” he said, adding that no written complaint has been received so far. “Efforts are on to trace the vehicles involved,” Singh said.
Police said they are examining the CCTV footage to identify the cars and the drivers involved in the incident.

Shocking stuff, i said many times, india needs to introduce stricker vehicle laws, drivers laws & better highway roads infrastructure.

UP man kills parents, chops bodies with saw after dispute over Muslim wife

https://www.indiatoday.in/india/sto...tm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=recirculation

A five-day search for a missing elderly couple in Jaunpur ended after police found that their own son brutally killed them, chopped their bodies with a saw, and dumped them into rivers.

A prolonged family dispute over money, land and an interfaith marriage ended in a brutal double murder that has shaken Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur. A five-day search for a missing elderly couple ended on Thursday after police found that their own son brutally killed them, chopped their bodies with a saw, packed the parts in cement bags and dumped them into rivers.

The accused, identified as Ambesh, has been arrested. Police said Ambesh married a Muslim woman in Kolkata during the Covid pandemic. The couple have two children. However, Ambesh's family, who live in Ahmedpur village, was unhappy with the interfaith marriage and pressured him to separate.

Amid the turmoil, Ambesh's wife started demanding maintenance, forcing him to seek financial help from his parents. The issue led to frequent arguments in the family.

THE GRISLY DOUBLE MURDER

Around three months ago, Ambesh returned from Kolkata and started staying alone with his parents. Even then, arguments between Ambesh and his parents did not stop. The rage was building inside Ambesh.

On December 8, following a heated argument, Ambesh attacked his mother, Babita (63), by striking her on her head with an iron rod. When his father, Shyam Bahadur (65), tried to raise an alarm, Ambesh beat him repeatedly and strangled him with a rope, police said.

After killing his parents, the accused used a saw kept in the basement of the house, where construction work was being held, to chop the bodies into three parts each. He then stuffed the remains into six cement bags and cleaned the bloodstains using his parents' clothes.

Ambesh then loaded the bags in his car and dumped most of them into the River Gomti. One severed body part of his mother, which did not fit into the bags, was thrown into the River Sai as Ambesh drove towards Varanasi.

TWIST IN POLICE PROBE

The elderly couple also had a daughter, Vandana. After Vandana failed to contact her parents and her brother, she filed a missing persons complaint on December 13. The police investigation took a massive turn after Ambesh was traced on December 15.

During questioning, police found that Ambesh repeatedly changed his statements. However, upon sustained interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

Senior police officer Ayush Srivastava took the accused to his parents' house to recreate the crime scene. So far, divers have recovered one severed body part. Search operations are on to recover the other remains. Police have registered a murder case.

UP man who shot ex-lover had cyber fraud links, forced physical relations

Multiple CCTV clips captured his movements before and after the attack. A manhunt is underway to arrest the accused and identify an accomplice seen in the footage.

Fresh details have emerged in the Lucknow shooting case, with the injured woman telling police that the accused, Akash Kashyap, has a history of extreme violence and criminal behaviour. She has alleged repeated physical abuse, sexual exploitation and links to a cyber fraud network, even as police continue efforts to arrest the absconding accused.

The incident occurred around 2 am on the intervening night of December 11 and 12 in the Para area of Lucknow, when Akash allegedly forced his way into the rented house where the 21-year-old woman lives with her elder sister, a seven-year-old niece and a three-year-old nephew. According to the family, he was drunk at the time.

The victim sustained gunshot injuries to her shoulder and arm and is undergoing treatment at Lok Bandhu Hospital. Police said her condition is stable.

ALLEGATIONS OF VIOLENCE AND CRIMINAL LINKS

In her statement to police, the woman described Akash as “highly violent and criminal-minded”. She alleged that during their year-long relationship, he assaulted her multiple times, forced physical relations, burnt her with cigarettes and recorded obscene videos.

The victim further claimed that Akash was associated with a cyber fraud gang, arranging bank accounts to route cheated money. She alleged that he purchased a Scorpio SUV around two months ago using proceeds from these activities. According to her, he routinely carried a pistol in the vehicle and often boasted of his proximity to police officials.

She told investigators that she decided to cut ties with Akash after a crackdown by the Special Task Force (STF) against cybercrime networks. Following the breakup, he allegedly began threatening her with death.

NIGHT OF THE ATTACK

The victim’s elder sister told police that Akash arrived at their house around 2 am and pushed his way inside as soon as the door was opened. He allegedly stormed into the younger sister’s room, abused and assaulted her, and vandalised household items when family members tried to intervene.

Moments later, he allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and fired at the woman. After shooting her, the accused allegedly moved towards the sister’s seven-year-old daughter and attempted to fire again, but the child managed to flee. The accused then allegedly locked the injured woman inside the room from outside and escaped.

Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing the gunshot and screams, and helped take the injured woman to hospital. Police were informed by the hospital, following which an FIR was registered against Akash.

CCTV FOOTAGE AND PROBE

Police have recovered three CCTV clips linked to the incident. In one, Akash is seen arriving in a Scorpio and hurling abuses outside the house. Another shows him climbing upstairs and smashing a CCTV camera. In the final clip, he is seen leaving the house and getting into the vehicle, where another unidentified man joins him before the two flee. Police are working to identify the second person.

RELATIONSHIP TURNED VIOLENT

Police said the accused, Akash Kashyap, is a resident of Gauri Bazaar in Sarojini Nagar. He had been in a relationship with the victim for around a year. Both sisters worked in an orchestra troupe and lived together in a rented accommodation in the Para area.

Earlier reports indicated that the shooting was triggered after the woman refused to resume the relationship, following which Akash allegedly stalked and threatened her. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused and are probing his alleged criminal links, including claims of cyber fraud and illegal firearm possession.

Video: Car tries to run over students at university; chased, attacked with stones

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over security at Maharshi Dayanand University. Locals and students allege that the campus frequently sees the presence of outsiders and unruly elements.

Maharshi Dayanand University in Haryana's Rohtak witnessed violent clashes after a group of youths allegedly attempted to run over students inside the campus. According to reports, the vehicle rammed into people at high speed and, after a forceful collision, crashed into a tree, narrowly averting fatalities.

Following the incident, members of a rival group retaliated by pelting stones at the youths travelling in the Scorpio. The situation quickly escalated, with both groups engaging in violent clashes involving sticks and rods across the university premises.

One of the students, who is pursuing a PhD at the university, filed a complaint with the local police, stating that the car was deliberately stopped, and the occupants began arguing with him. He said he tried persuading them to let him go, but they allegedly took out weapons from the car and ran towards him.

He further claimed that a similar incident had occurred a year ago, when the occupants had opened fire on him, and that a case has already been registered in connection with that incident.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over security at Maharshi Dayanand University. Locals and students allege that the campus frequently sees the presence of outsiders and unruly elements. Vehicles with blackened windows are often seen roaming freely inside the campus, with allegations of eve-teasing involving female students being common.

This is not the first time the university has witnessed violence. In the past, incidents of open firing between groups have been reported, and a security guard had earlier lost his life after being hit by a vehicle inside the campus.

The latest episode has renewed calls for stricter security measures and tighter monitoring of entry into the university premises.

Hands Tied, Body Found in Water Tank: Hyderabad Father Alleges Uncle and Aunt Killed His 7-Year-Old Daughter

A seven-year-old girl who went missing in Hyderabad was found dead inside a rooftop water tank, her hands tied behind her back, pointing to clear foul play. Police have launched a murder probe, with forensic teams collecting evidence and the case shifted from missing to homicide.

Hyderabad: The disappearance of a seven-year-old girl in Hyderabad ended in tragedy on Wednesday afternoon when her lifeless body was discovered inside a rooftop water tank at her grandmother’s house, with her hands bound behind her back. The chilling discovery has sparked suspicions of foul play and prompted a full-scale police investigation.
The victim, identified as Humeyni Sumaiya, had been visiting her grandmother’s home along with her parents, Mohammad Azeem and Shabana Begum. On Tuesday evening, when Sumaiya could not be found, her worried family lodged a missing complaint. Through the night, police teams, investigators and concerned neighbours searched tirelessly but failed to trace the girl.

Mother’s Heartbreaking Discovery

On Wednesday afternoon, Sumaiya’s mother returned to the house to conduct one final check. To her horror, she found her daughter’s body floating inside the rooftop water tank. The child’s hands were tied behind her back, a detail that immediately ruled out the possibility of an accident.

Police rushed to the spot and confirmed the grim suspicions. “We are investigating all angles including that of any family dispute. It is a definite case of murder, and we have altered the sections from missing to murder,” Police Inspector Anjaneyulu.

The body has since been shifted for a post-mortem examination, while forensic teams have been deployed to gather evidence from the scene. Officials confirmed that the matter is now being probed as a suspicious death and possible homicide.

In other news, Hyderabad police have booked actress Dimple Hayathi and her husband, David, for allegedly harassing their domestic help after she demanded her salary. The Odisha-native woman, who had been working at their residence, accused the couple of repeated abuse, food denial, and humiliation.
Matters escalated on Monday when their pet dog barked at her, prompting her to record the incident. David allegedly snatched and broke her phone, threatening her and her family. The woman escaped and filed a complaint at Film City Police Station. The couple now faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Delhi Horror: Pregnant Woman Stabbed to Death by Former Live-In Partner; Husband Kills Attacker

Aashu attacked Aakash with a knife; however, Aakash managed to dodge the first blow. Aashu then turned towards Shalini, who was seated in an e-rickshaw, and stabbed her multiple times, police said.

A pregnant woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her former live-in partner in Delhi's Nabi Karim area before her husband overpowered and killed the attacker.
The incident took place in full public view on a busy stretch near Qutub Road, triggering panic in the area, reported PTI, citing Police sources.

The incident happened on Saturday night when the deceased woman, identified as Shalini (22), was on her way to meet her mother, Sheila, on Delhi's Qutub Road. Shalini was travelling with her husband Aakash, when her former live-in partner, Aashu suddenly arrived there.

Aashu attacked Aakash with a knife; however, Aakash managed to dodge the first blow, the news agency reported. Aashu then turned towards Shalini, who was seated in an e-rickshaw, and stabbed her multiple times, police said.

"Aakash rushed to her rescue but was also stabbed. He, however, managed to overpower Aashu, snatched his knife and stabbed him during the scuffle," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan said in a statement, as quoted by PTI.
Shalini's brother Rohit and some local residents took all three to a hospital, where doctors declared Shalini and Aashu dead, police said. Meanwhile, Aakash, 23, who sustained multiple stab injuries while saving his wife, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
"During inquiry, it was found that Shalini was pregnant at the time of her death," police said. Based on Sheila's complaint, a case has been registered under sections 103-1 (murder) and 109-1 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Nabi Karim Police Station.

According to Shalini's mother, the couple's marriage had been strained a few years ago, during which she entered into a live-in relationship with Aashu. Later, she reconciled with Aakash and returned to live with him and their two children, said the DCP. This enraged Ashu, who also claimed to be the father of Shalini's unborn child, police said.

Attacker Listed As 'Bad Character': Police

According to the police, Aashu alias Shailendra, 34, was listed a "bad character" at the Nabi Karim Police Station. "Aashu was a listed Bad Character (BC) of Nabi Karim Police Station and had previous criminal records. Aakash, too, has three past criminal involvements," he said.

Minor Found Dead in Mumbai Train Toilet; 30-Year-Old Unemployed Cousin Killed Him Over 'Taunts'

An unemployed man, Vikaskumar Shah, killed his maternal aunt’s 3-year-old son, abducted him, and dumped the body in a train toilet bound for Mumbai. Police later arrested Shah in Mumbai.

Mumbai: In a brutal crime, a 30-year-old jobless man killed his maternal aunt's son, 3, and dumped his body in a train toilet going to Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), the police said on Tuesday. When a cleaning staff member entered the toilet of the express train, he raised an alarm among the officials, prompting an immediate investigation. The police reached the spot and found the body in a garbage bin kept inside the toilet, reported PTI.
It was the Kushinagar Express (22537) train, which runs daily between Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), where the body was found three days ago.

The police tracked down the accused, Vikaskumar Shah (30), who confessed to the crime, explaining that he was fed up with his aunt’s nagging about his joblessness. He said he carried out the murder out of the grudge with her aunt because she used to constantly taunt him about finding some work as he was jobless, a release issued by the Surat police said

Accused Seen Boarding

On August 21, the woman living in the Ganeshpura area of Surat city approached the Amroli Police Station with a complaint that her elder sister's son, Vikas, had abducted her three-year-old son.

During the investigation, the police found CCTV footage wherein Shah, a native of Bihar, was spotted boarding a Mumbai-bound train with the boy, a release by the Surat police said.
On August 23, the minor's body was found in the toilet of a train at the LTT while Shah was still missing. Based on technical surveillance of his mobile phone, he was found present in Bandra, Kurla, and Dadar areas in Mumbai. Police formed various teams and started searching for the accused after taking mopeds on rent, it said.
On Monday evening, he was finally nabbed from a place in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and was here on Tuesday, the release said. According to the police, Shah is a native of the Siwan district of Bihar and worked as a labourer in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait before returning to his native place in April 2025.
Since he was jobless, he came to Surat along with his mother nearly 15 days ago in search of work and started living at his aunt's place in Amroli. But since he was not doing any work, his aunt started nagging him to find some job and asked him to shift elsewhere.
Fed up with this constant taunting, Shah abducted her son and killed her using a sharp weapon before dumping his body on board the express train, the Surat police said.
