[VIDEO] Chasing 373 to win, Pakistan end Day 4 of the 1st Test against New Zealand on 71/3

This is what separates great teams from average teams.

We did not even have enough planning and common sense to bowl short to Chris Woakes, who is prone to the short ball.

Similarly, if we'd have bowled short in the first innings after seeing that there was nothing on the pitch, we'd have gotten a lot of wickets.

I stated the same but there is a simple lack of cricket intelligence in our camp.

If you plan to make Yasir Shah bowl then you must take some risks by trying to build some pressure on the batsmen.

Take a slip, a silly mid-on and a silly mid-off, and ask Yasir to bowl at a length where the batsman is forced to move forward on the front foot.

Otherwise, plan to pull a controlled stunt and hit the ball on his head in a throwing attempt towards the keeper, and Yasir can then fake a concussion injury, which will help us get a replacement and another spin bowler, Sohail Khan, can try his luck.

For pace bowlers; if they can't move the ball on a good line and length, then they must have a plan B.

Get a fielder on the long leg, and bowl short. You can also surprise the batsman by a good Yorker while is expecting a short ball.

I have a feeling that NZ pace bowlers will send a barrage of short balls to Pak batsmen and our batsmen may fall like flies.

Why shouldn't we try a few short balls?

I see Rashid Latif criticising Yasir Shah for giving his cap to a fan and some supporting him by saying test caps are treasured and should never be given to fans unless they go to exhibitions and museums.

He is right though, who gives Test caps that are supposed to be worn by the player throughout his career to random fans?
