Pak vs Aus in Bengaluru - Pakistan fans present in the stadium were cheering ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ as the officials present in the stadium intervened to stop them. Think fans should be allowed to support their favorite teams.

it's really simple: don't host a world cup if you're not okay with supporters from other countries.

Brave lad but maybe should have thought about it, the police will probably be waiting for him at the exit.
Unlikely. Cop tried to show his power. When the guy stood his ground, like all bullies, he scurried away claiming he needed to check with his senior officer lol.

What is bothersome though is why he felt he could get away thrusting his personal views there.

Or it's worse, and not a personal opinion, and there has been some silent diktat handed down the various departments.

I'd like to believe it's a personal view that he tried to force there.

Shame because the crowd themselves have been decent after the ugly atmosphere at Ahmedabad.

Bangalore is slowly and steadily being saffronized..
One of the first things the Congress did when they came to power was issue a ruling to the police department that cops were not to pose wearing saffron in photos or make any such public displays. That's how badly that kind of nonsense had seeped into the department under the previous BJP government. It's sad that a love for saffron has now warped into some kind of putrid nationalism.

Yeah, I am guessing this is just remnants of the BJP rule. Hopefully, we can get rid of this Saffroization soon.

Karnataka is helmed by the Congress and still you have some crap like this.

If India can't get over its jingoism, we shouldn't be hosting international tournaments.

Still can't get over that last guy though :rp

It's good saar, please sit down
What's funny about the last part?

Really poor that from the police officer.

I can't work out who the other guy is who is trying to calm things down.

Very poor, this is awful and would not have happened pre Mumbai attacks. India's current nationalistic jingoism directly results from what happened that day. Coming from Chennai, I hope this never happens in Chennai. This should also not be swept under the cover, did the officer do it under his discretion or the direction of a senior? There should be a public apology or else sack everybody involved and let it serve a lesson.

I don't usually care about crowd booing etc. It's their right, like they did in the IND game against us.

However,

This is truly pathetic and unacceptable. You cannot prevent a fan of X, Y, Z country from rooting for his team.

Truly pathetic and I hope there are severe repercussions for this - IND should not be allowed to host any Olympics-related events and there is enough evidence for that. They have deliberately been biased against not issuing visas to PAK fans, just does not happen in any other sporting competition.

Again like I said if it was anything related to Olympics or other sporting bodies where IND does not have clout, the reaction would have been severe and IND banned from future events.

This will NOT happen when it comes to ICC.

They simply do not have the clout or $$ to challenge the biggest market.

Ok now match is over .so thing is going to be hot thread :p
Why we are giving them chance man .why police Stop them as it's nothing wrong chanting Pakistan zindabad by Pakistani fan's.

Good on the Pakistan supporter to stand his ground, sent the policeman scurrying out of the ground probably. Embarrassing

Guys he was sitting in the same enclosure as me ..he's name was kaseem and he was entertaining evey one in the stand .that was a small incident and that cop was sent away by other inidan spectators and this guy continued supporting Phil team..he was a very spirited guy ..many people became friend with him and during breaks many Indian fans were having drink with him..after pak lost he was crying inconsolably and many Indian fans were consoling him ..looked like a nice chop

The cop would be the one helping the Saffron gang lynching him for supporting his team in a cricket match.
You need to get off SM mate. The way he was fumbling about the guy probably still doesn't know what happened, much less have the wits to gather men around him

Mark my words, India will find a way not to come to pak for the CT.

I was there, sitting next to Kasim who was the Pakistan supporter with a couple of his friends, when this incident happened. Multiple times i encouraged him to keep cheering for his team and a couple of times i along with a lot of folks cheered with him for Pakistan. You all can say whatever you can, but the chain of events started with couple of idiots shouting bharat mata ki jaai in jest to his Pakistan zindabad slogans. Cop being extra sensitive came and asked him to not stand on the seat and not shout Pakistan zindabad as it was leading to commotion. Was cop wrong, yes perhaps but did he have any mal intention absolutely not. Most people were calling him brother brother, hugging him but in a stand of 1000, you can't control a few folks to get excited with naarebaazi.

There's always two sides to a story for sure... sadly, this reflects so badly on the cop and the general feeling towards Pak from Ind etc.

Appreciate you stood with the brother.

i was there as well

I'm seeing more stuff like this from the game. It seems like not a one-off. And suggests there was a direct order from someone higher up. The claim being made is that it was to avoid any confrontation or potential violence.

Then don't host a World Cup. You can't have an international tournament and pick and choose who is allowed to be cheered for.

Shocking this has happened in a Congress-ruled state.

The cop was wrong.

The chain of events does not entitle him to stop a foreigner from rooting for his team.

He instead should’ve stopped others not the guest.

In fact no need to stop anyone. Sloganeering is part of every sports ground.

This call was really bad.

Cricket fans from different parts of the world should be allowed to cheer and support their teams.
These police officers need some basic training before attending cricket matches and understanding what should be allowed and what should not.

It's funny how some posters have blamed the BJP for the Ahmedabad match and are still blaming the BJP in the Bangalore match, even though the state is ruled by the Congress.

Maybe he didn't know that it was a Pakistani, who should be absolutely free to cheer for his team. If it was an indian, then should be tried for treason. Cop should be told to verify the nationality first and not to err on the side of caution.

Pathetic and deplorable behavior from the cop. It's shameful, frankly. He should be fired! Every fan should be allowed to support whoever they want to and chant whatever they want to support their team (within limits of decency, of course).

Its funny.
Why is it considered wrong when spectators are chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'? Fans can cheer and shout whatever they want as long as it's done without making derogatory comments.

Their country their rules. Stop being awful at everything as a country then complain about this stuff.

He knew.

Guy also said I’m Pakistani.

This is not a National tournament though. We have no excuse for this. I've also seen a video of a Pakistani fan and his wife/gf being stopped from entering the stadium with a Pak flag.

These days even Pakistanis are having to struggle when chanting that, good on the Indian for chanting it.

Thanks for the parosi love :dhoni

It doesnt matter.

Regarding hating India, we follow the same story of wolf and lamb.

You are making by water dirty.

Please sir, water comimg from your side.

Then you must have made it dirty last year.

Please sir, I was not born last year.

Then it must have been your mother.

And eats the lamb.

We're you the one wearing Indian jersey and hugging and chatting with that kaseem guy all the time ?
No sir, that guy was an idiot and I ain't that old :). They were initially arguing about something but later they couldn't stop hugging and touching each other.

India wasn't playing the game and common sense says that if someone is emotional and cheering his team and ur team isn't playing then it makes no sense to start chanting ur team name.

Very sad to see this. Zindabad means longlive it’s just a slogan. Not defaming any other country by the chant. Such a pathetic shameful act by that police man.

Well done to that supporter for standing his ground and sending that cop scurrying away.

It's good saar, please sit down :rp
@Nikhil_cric
Absolutely pathetic from Bangalore cops. There is absolutely an urgent need for police reform in Bangalore. Still remember when I was a college student and I was intimidated and bullied by cops and taken to J.C. Road Police station for apparently smoking in a non-smoking zone when I don't even smoke in the first place!

And when I protested I was abused and threatened once again at the Station. And I was forced to pay a fine. They can be absolutely pathetic and parochial and use moral policing and bullying to make money off those who they think can't defend themselves. And especially if you can't speak Kannada(thankfully I can), they're even worse. Cretins.

Glad that guy shut him up.

Cope has done right thing bcos he may be afraid of Aussies may file complaint against crowd’s conduct and behaviour to ICC

Asked ICC about this. Their response:

We don't have a comment to make on this, but for your understanding and background, please note this was just an isolated incident which was addressed immediately and amicably.

The crowd has been enjoying what has been an action-packed game for nearly seven hours now and there is nothing much to report as the fans continue to back their team.

Not for the first time in India, fans at a sporting venue were asked not to wear black attire, lest it be construed as a mark of protest.

Supporters who thronged the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday for the Australia-Pakistan World Cup match were in for a shock when they were asked to remove black shirts and caps before entering, though not uniformly enforced across stands.

The reason

Police sources said that with the Israel-Palestine issue dominating global headlines, and this being a Pakistan match, black costumes were disallowed.

It is to be noted that the city had witnessed a flash protest on Monday demanding the condemnation of the attack on Palestine. “They didn’t allow me to wear a black shirt,” said a fan who wished to remain anonymous.

“So I bought an India jersey and wore it. They didn’t give any reason. Just said it was an order from the higher-ups.”

It was also learnt that cops combed the stalls selling merchandise around the stadium and asked them to not sell anything that was black.

The city had seen a similar rule in place two years ago during the Khelo India University Games closing ceremony which was graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other prominent politicians.

In 2018, the Chepauk stadium in Chennai also saw such entry restrictions amid demonstrations over the Cauvery issue.

This is pathetic from us. They can chant Pakistan zindabad what is problem with this??
I think most of the jingoism is for likes on social media. Nobody ever cared if Pakistani or any other country's fan was supporting their own team.

Sounds like a statement you'd expect from the BCCI.
