What's new

Imran Khan 21/07/2019 jalsa in Washington D.C.

When I made this thread I did so because I was worried that IK would not be able to fill the arena, and this would give those who call him "Selected PM" an early Eid present.

What a jalsa. This should be just the start, he should have one now in London, Dubai, Toronto, etc anywhere where expats live.

And i hope those who call him "Selected PM" will have some shame, and at least avoid that term for the next few months.

Bhai there is no denying he is selected....... selected by the Pakistani awaam to be their leader.

Mamoon and the copy paste king can go cry in the corner.

Don't worry, that "SELECTED" brigade was badly REJECTED and embarrassed by tribal people in KPK elections just yesterday and now overseas Pakistanis have given them a tight slap. Anyone with tiny bit of shame and self respect would realize that PEOPLE cannot be forced to attend political rallies. Year after year, jalsa after jalsa Imran Khan has proven to be a crowd puller who is loved by masses. He brought youth, women and kids to jalsas which were previously considered boring and useless. This "Selected" narrative was built by REJECTED lot and their beneficiaries in media houses otherwise Imran Khan had been making HISTORIC jalsas for many years now.

So he can't even speak correct English, nvm Urdu. Kaun si zubaan sahi bol sakti hai yaiiiiii.

DC is a bad spot to be honest.

Not enough density of Pakistanis around the area and the ones there are there are the professional kind who may not have the liberty to take the day off and to.

Should have done NYC or Houston or Chicago!

DC has one of the highest density of professional Pakistanis in the U.S. especially Reston and herndon.

This was huge. So many Pakistani from my city Philedelphia attended as well. My friends forfeited Sunday cricket league matches to attend this instead.

Heading back home from the jalsa. Insane atmosphere! You just had to be there. Pakistani diaspora in America definitely came out in huge numbers. 30k+ people inside and thousands outside.

Unreal feeling! Had goosebumps.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing a large crowd at a community event at Washington's Capital One Arena on Sunday, said that a 'Naya Pakistan' was being created in front of people's eyes.

"People ask where is 'Naya Pakistan', it is being created in front of your eyes," the premier said.

Earlier, the organiser of the event Dr Abdullah Riar had said that they were expecting between 15,000 and 20,000 at the event.

PM Imran was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, and Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari.

Addressing the crowd in the American capital, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the problem in Pakistan was that when political leaders were asked for answers, they say that [political] revenge is being taken and when courts make decisions they say 'kyun nikala'.

"Today what is happening in Pakistan, is the formation of Naya Pakistan — these people had never been asked for answers before."

He said that in Pakistan, the leadership had never been asked for answers before and this was the creation of a 'Naya Pakistan' taking place.

The premier said that there were two mains reasons — a system of merit and leaders being answerable — that democracy had gone forward in the world and left monarchy behind.

Citing a sports example, the PM said that the Australian cricket team had gone forward as they had a system that brings up talent and relies on merit.

"I have played cricket all around the world. I have seen the most cricketing talent in Pakistan. But [because] there is no system of merit, we can't bring that talent up.

"This is why we are not dominating the world because there is no meritocracy."

PM Imran said that America had a system based on meritocracy, through which good leaders replaced bad ones.

He said that in Pakistan there was a "type of monarchy" and merit did not come into play in the country.

"A society that doesn't have merit, doesn't go forward."

The premier said that the second factor that took democracy forward was the leaders being answerable.

"Democracy is successful when the leadership is answerable."

Prime Minister Imran said that cases against political leaders in Pakistan were not new.

"All the cases against them are old. We did not [start] any case [...] all we have done is make institutions independent."

"We have seen Pakistan go down before our eyes," he said, adding that when he was growing up in the country during the 1960s, Pakistan was considered to be the fastest developing country in the subcontinent and Asia.

He said the Pakistani bureaucracy was considered the top one in Asia and people used to come from abroad to study in the country.

"This is the same Pakistan we saw go down."

PM Imran explained that the form of socialism in place during the 1970s had led to industrial growth in the country stopping and then after 1985, bribery came into politics when the "real damage" took place.

"We saw Pakistan go down before our eyes."

He said two things — public office holders being held accountable and merit — were required to lift the country up.

"Anyone who is a public office holder should answer to the people."

While referring to political leaders in the country, the premier said: "They have one purpose, they want to hear three words from me NRO [National Reconciliation Ordinance]."

He said that now the powerful individuals in Pakistan were being held accountable, which included the seizure of their benami properties.

"Remember this is the time that Pakistan will change, it is changing before you."

The premier added that a merit-based system was required in the country.

"A system of merit will come when family-based politics end.

"Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is the first party where no relative or friend of Imran Khan is in any post," he said, adding that new leaders, such as Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division Hammad Azhar, would emerge from the party.

"Our country will rise before you. You will see we will fix the system and let the lower segment come up."

'Where did the money go?'
The premier said that ten years ago, the country's debt was Rs6,000 billion.

"After ten years, these two raised it to Rs30,000 billion," referring to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

"Where did the money go? We need to take [back] this money from them. I want to tell them again that you can do what you want.

"Everyone comes together to save democracy, to save their money. Come together, if you want to stage a 'dharna', I will give you containers.

"Do what you want, you will have to return the money."

While referring to Nawaz, PM Imran said that he would remove the former premier's TV and air conditioner from jail.

"I know that Maryam [Nawaz] bibi will make a lot of noise, but Maryam bibi give back the money, then he can go from jail."

PM Imran said that he had noticed that when former president Zardari went to jail, he would spend all of his time in the hospital.

"Asif Zardari, [we] will also keep you in jail, there will no TV nor will there be an air conditioner."

"It is very easy to be released from jail: return the money, we will release you from jail."

"Until today, the powerful in Pakistan were never questioned. This is the biggest change and this is why our country will rise."

Education
PM Imran said that the education system in Pakistan did not allow the less privileged to come up.

"There is an education apartheid. Here [in America] people are given opportunities."

The premier said that for the first time in Pakistan, they were attempting to fix the system of government schools in the country and attempting to introduce one main syllabus so that people have the opportunity to rise up.

Corruption
"Our country has been left behind because of one reason: corruption," said the premier.

He said that he had met companies in the United States, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and China for investment and they all said that they don't come to Pakistan because there is corruption.

"Through a clean government [and] by ending corruption, we will lift this country."

Riyasat-i-Madina
The prime minister said that the current government's vision was to turn the country into a welfare state on the pattern of Riyasat-i-Madina, Radio Pakistan reported.

He said that the principles of Riyasat-i-Madina were compassion, justice, rule of law, and looking after women, children and elderly.

The premier said that he would present the case of the Pakistani people before President Donald Trump, who he is scheduled to meet on Monday (today).

"I will not let you be embarrassed in front of Donald Trump."

During the event, a documentary of PM Imran's journey was also shown to the audience.

The premier concluded his address by vowing that he would never let Pakistan bow down before anyone.

Selected Prime Ministers are a real curse for developing countries. These hard-headed, dogmatic & "Khar dimagh" people are hell bent on introducing anti-democratic values in our country. A true democratic Pakistani PM doesnt travel from a commercial flight, and that too on a state visit? That is short of treason.

Democratic PMs are supposed to carry themselves in a manner that does NOT reflect the fact they represent a 3rd world economy. True Democrats are entrepreneurs who have a hard time articulating a few words on their own, and thus have to read from a piece of paper.

Because Democracy is a trait that is transmitted through blood, democratic leaders are required to take their family members along on state visits, for which the tax payers must pay.

Who would you have representing you on a state visit to a global power: A selected PM who's mentally independent and has no vested Bussiness interests or a Democratic PM who runs the Country like a bussiness and lobbies for personal gain? Ofcourse the Democratic leader, because this is the way of our Fathers and grandfathers, do you expect us to turn on our heels and not follow the way of our forefathers?

So, let's all take a minute to thank true representatives of the poor and down-trodden people of this country; Maryam Nawaz & Bilawal Bhutto. These two are the future of South-Asian politics, because they struggled throughout their lives to liberate the people from feudal slavery and Personality cults.

🥂

haha so much for the so called "selected PM" as suggested by some posters here, the ones in extreme minority along with majority padosi posters :))

That's how you tell that a PM is selected by the nation, man is loved and cherished by masses be it local or abroad.

Nation is fed up with corruption and looters, so this man is a breath of fresh air for Pakistan. He is leading a third world country which is looted down to cents. His efforts and policies will eventually return good in the due course.

Some politician and their supporters have been so used to and been beneficial of the corrupt system, they can;t survive in a system of accountability, hence they can't stand an honest PM. Too bad their future in now in jail. No one is shedding any tear on their being behind the bar.

What purpose did it serve?

People travelled on the weekend for a family trip, listened to the speech, socialized, and then came back home.

Did anything else happen?

Great turnout by the Pakistani yanks.

Imagine when he arrives in London? Wembley stadium will not be big enough.

So 9,000 cult followers (don't go by the 30k propaganda figure) swayed and swooned in the presence of their Kaptaan. It couldn't be better for them - if they come to Pakistan, they get to spend 35% less, which means they are richer by 35%. If they remit, the recipient gets 35% more.

Majority of the expat Pakistanis suffer from identity crisis. They call themselves staunch Pakistanis but come up with a billion excuses if you ask them to return to their homeland. I wonder why they are still living abroad when they believe that Naya Pakistan is already here.

Pakistan is now overflowing with jobs, unemployment has been minimized, "chors and dakus" are behind the bars and the looted billions are now back in the coffers. Pakistan is a now a Medinah welfare state. What else are these overseas champions waiting for now?

Furthermore, they labor under the delusion that they are helping Pakistan's economy with the money that they remit home. In fact, on the contrary, they are affecting the economy negatively because all the money that they send home to improve the standard of living of their families are spent on imports, thus, increasing dependency on remittances.

These remittances are largely used to improve the daily lives of their family members. They are not used productively and do not create jobs and tax base. We have seen the recent flop shows such as the Dam fun and the Pakistan Banao certificate. All the bhangra by expats does not translate into large-scale business or investment back home.

As far as identity crisis is concerned, expats will continue to suffer from this syndrome until their future generations grow up and have no connection with the land of their ancestors. Mirpur is a very good example - it was once known as "Little England" because British Pakistanis would send tons of money that would be used to build beautiful houses.

However, the newer generations are now selling these houses at throwaway prices because they do not intend to come back and ultimately, these remittances will dry up.

Gathering large crowds will help Imran Khan collect money for SKMH but it will not fix our broken economy. Naya Pakistan can only be built by Pakistanis living and working in Pakistan. It is the only way forward.

On a side note, I wonder if that cult doctor was in attendance. Here he is:

I completely agree with you on this. 99% of the people just went for fun to hang out with their family and friends. They would also have no problem donating a couple of hundred dollars to the hospital. However, none will be willing to give up the comforts of their life in America to go back to Pakistan. Even, majority of the patriotic keyboard warriors here will not go back to serve their country.

Only people living in Pakistan can make Pakistan better.

Adnan Sami is back!

The capacity of the arena is 20,000. The organizers saw the crowd and added 10k more seats in the playing arena (it is a basketball stadium).... and every seat was taken. Heck there were more people will to come in and the organizers had to shut the front door. Every single news outlet has confirmed a full house, but Shri Mamoon Ji in his infinite wisdom claims it was only 9000 people. He himself teleported to Washington and counted every single entrant. :vk2:vk2

Compare this with Sharif... hardly 150 people and most of them friends and family :)))

The size of this Washington jalsa is incredible, considering this is not Pakistan and there was not much time to arrange the entire thing itself. So whoever is salty about this jalsa should simply find something sweet to eat nearby else the tastebuds can be permanently damage and he would find salt in each piece of news.

Stop spreading fake news. Were you there? I was. There was definitely 30k people inside the Arena and thousands more outside who couldn't get in (including a few of my friends).

I'm a foreign Pakistani and my family has investments in Pakistan. Stop assuming and spewing the same crap over and over again. If you hate Pakistan so much, then leave. Instead of sitting there and crying about how foreign Pakistanis are not coming back and so on and so forth. We were brought up here, for some of us, our kids are born here (3rd generation), but according to you, we can't have feelings for Pakistan? Stop your **. I have family, as for many on here, who live in Pakistan. So according to you, we shouldn't hope for a good life for them? Bhai, no matter what, we are still American-Pakistanis or Pakistani-Americans. Pakistan gives us an identity everywhere in the world. Tum apna propaganda jaari rakho.

We don't need a self-hating Pakistani telling us what we need to do/don't need to do. Us sitting abroad have more patriotism then you ever will. Pathetic!

Calm down.
Why are you so overexcited?
What has IK even done in the one year he's been in power that makes you gloat this much?
Don't fly so high mate.

Mamoon it was 20-25,000 people at the venue. The 9000 figure is a misnomer said by a random lady who doesn’t even work there as far as we know. It was a throwaway video made

The venue holds 20,000 people and then there was further seating in the middle where the basketball game and oncourt seating usually is. So easily a higher figure.

If you really deny this you’ve got your head in the sand. You might actually have been there since it is close to where you were from what I remember.

So you expect him to work miracles in one year and reverse the abject rape by Sharifs and Bhuttos over the course of 30-40 years?

Can't you take criticism?

I asked a simple question: "why are you so overexcited?" I expect a simple reply back not this.
First you talk smack to Mamoon now me.
I'm not a IK fan nor a hater. I don't even support a specific party and NS is the last person I would want to be the PM.

IK fans really are soft. Smh.

As for him reversing the abject "rape", I would expect a well wisher of the state to at least improve the situation instead of making it worse. I wouldn't expect him to make it perfect in a year but he should have at least made it a bit better. Heck, the guy has put us near our all time low.

But no... these IK fans don't want to hear that coz they think Ik is a prophet or something so it will be considered blasphemy.

And what's with you and always rejecting Mamoon. The guy made some valid points but you gave a completely irrelevant reply.

Learn how to argue

You mean people like Hafeez Shaikh who served under PPP and who IK has bought into his cabinet? Or by recycled comedians like SMQ and Fardous Ashiq? These people will not lead Pakistan forward.

Why is PTM sitting with PPP and you support PTM?

Let me make this clear:

To say that there were 9k people in yesterday’s jalsa is a ridiculous thought.

There are several videos on Internet of the jalsa in which can be witnessed that the amount of people was definitely more than 9k if not 30k (what the actual turnout was).

So to say this is very weird.

Look I don’t want to say who we guys have to support or which political party the best option is for Pakistan.

But can’t we just for once neglect all the facts and figures and support our PAKISTANI PM in a country where our bilateral relationship are probably at its lowest between the two countries history.

After all we all are Pakistanis first and then a supporter of a certain political party.

What has this got to do with PM select Imran Khan and PTI?

You are right he is PM selected..... selected by the Pakistani awaam and the 17 million voters. Do remind me how many seats did PTM win in the elections held a couple of days ago, specially from Waziristan where their movement started?

Any evidence of just 9,000? and after claiming to live in D.C area, one would know how big that arena is? stop speaking out of your rear-end. provide evidence or else you are a liar and got caught again with your hands in NS pants.

Majority of the expat Pakistanis suffer from identity crisis. They call themselves staunch Pakistanis but come up with a billion excuses if you ask them to return to their homeland. I wonder why they are still living abroad when they believe that Naya Pakistan is already here.

Delusional you are so you believe everyone is, too, which is pretty evident by your comments. Naya Pakistan is already here and it is evident by your comment, since you can't come up with solid and weighted criticism you resorted to childish and the most immature played out argument, LOL. Time to gather yourself and get back on your A game, this one makes you look extra weaker. LOL

Pakistan is now overflowing with jobs, unemployment has been minimized, "chors and dakus" are behind the bars and the looted billions are now back in the coffers. Pakistan is a now a Medinah welfare state. What else are these overseas champions waiting for now?

Aww, here you go again, cute again, your argument sound pathetic and of mohalay ki aunty kind, I can't imagine what would happen if you were genuinely to hate IK, if not and this immaturity is shown to appear different on a forum then carry on, everyone needs a hobby.

Furthermore, they labor under the delusion that they are helping Pakistan's economy with the money that they remit home. In fact, on the contrary, they are affecting the economy negatively because all the money that they send home to improve the standard of living of their families are spent on imports, thus, increasing dependency on remittances.

Stick to the hobby of appearing different on a forum, economy isn't for you, and it is pretty evident by that comment :)

These remittances are largely used to improve the daily lives of their family members. They are not used productively and do not create jobs and tax base. We have seen the recent flop shows such as the Dam fun and the Pakistan Banao certificate. All the bhangra by expats does not translate into large-scale business or investment back home.

of course not, no overseas Pakistani claim that it does, if Bhangra were to do that then NS and the rest of the family members would be fitter than usain bolt because all they had to do was to do bhangra daily for couple of hours, now be honest, would you have joined them in Bhangra, you know how to do bhangra, yea you do, you little wanna be Daler Mehndi

As far as identity crisis is concerned, expats will continue to suffer from this syndrome until their future generations grow up and have no connection with the land of their ancestors. Mirpur is a very good example - it was once known as "Little England" because British Pakistanis would send tons of money that would be used to build beautiful houses.

LOL, after claiming to spend 3 years in US and yet you make this claim, did you not socialize with Pakistani American in US? or this is another claim you created out of this to appear different?

However, the newer generations are now selling these houses at throwaway prices because they do not intend to come back and ultimately, these remittances will dry up.

Gathering large crowds will help Imran Khan collect money for SKMH but it will not fix our broken economy. Naya Pakistan can only be built by Pakistanis living and working in Pakistan. It is the only way forward.
NO kidding sherlock, thanks for stating the obvious

On a side note, I wonder if that cult doctor was in attendance. Here he is:

"cult", what are you, what label should you be given, i am sure if the supporter of Imran Khan are labelled then you should be labelled, too, which 'cult' do you follow?

He stood proudly wearing his scrub, claiming that he will quit his job and return to serve Naya Pakistan. Unfortunately, we haven't heard from him again. I heard he chickened out from returning to Pakistan because his wife and kids gave him a good drubbing.

Showing your class again, and it is out desperation, you had few days to come up with a better response but this is the best you could have done?

Regards.

And, whats up with immature troll, claiming to never to go back to Pakistan criticizing Pakistani for supporting IK and not going back. LOL

That says more about them than it does anyone else. I'd say you're lying but I've come across them on social media myself, Majority of them are PPP and ANP accounts on twitter, who had an affinity for Afghanistan. Maybe PPP want a return to the heady days of Ijaz Butt, and ANP proudly wear and bare their 5th column tattoos.

Nothing is more important than Pakistan.

Except you do actually sound like a neutral. There is a reason why noone is criticising you. But these noonies come under the cowardly guise of 'we are neutral' which is dishonest. Much like their leader.

Here he is:

He stood proudly wearing his scrub, claiming that he will quit his job and return to serve Naya Pakistan. Unfortunately, we haven't heard from him again. I heard he chickened out from returning to Pakistan because his wife and kids gave him a good drubbing.

Lol fantastic mathematics skills

A stadium which holds 20k spectators was filled to full capacity and some and the discredited brigade can only count up to 9k? Brace yourself, there will be many more similar painful days for the supporters of corrupt mafia. 4 more years to go, the show is just getting started!

Pathetic!

Very well said.

Us overseas Pakistanis do our fair bit (between us and Allah, and genuinely for the sake of our country and for our impoverished brothers and sisters back home), and we don't need to justify ourselves, especially to the Adnan Samis of this forum who themselves seek education abroad.
