Not sure, but he has to show more and consistent ability to sufficiently swing it both ways.

At his trundling pace, he has to be able to swing it like Amir/Asif else he'll be another Ehsan Adil or Asad Ali.

I suppose the balls being used in these A games against England must be with Kokaburra balls or else no point is testing new talent...he did well there

I find Pakistani fans quite strange. This place different expectations depending on the player.

For example someone like Gul, Junaid, Tanvir and all the other seasoned trundlers, all it takes is for them to take 2 wickets in a match and they are given free pass to international mediocrity for 4 years :91:

But when a player who has no international experience, he is expected to deliver Malcolm Dale Steyn Marshall level performances for a decade before he is worthy. :91:

He is the most exciting upcoming prospect in our ranks, and its not as if we are overflowing with quality. Not a single world class pacer in our ranks at the moment and the likes of Junaid, Irfan and Gul (who is angling for another comeback) are tried and tested failures. Certainly, there is room for someone like Hamza to be tried and assessed?

He should be considered for the ODI series because Rahat is not an ODI bowler and Irfan is finished.
 
Mir Hamza and Majid Ali. Been campaigning for these players for months. Even before it became mainstream. Excellent prospects.

hopefully he is 6 feet+ but doesnt look so.

Bilawal bhatti height type players never work for us.

Even Akhtar I think would have been much greater if he was 6+.

His height seems decent enough. He looks above the average height in the team from what I saw of him against England. Shouldn't be a problem, he's definately not close Bhatti's height.

Judging by this pic, he's almost as tall as Wasim, who's 6.2

So yeah, he's definitely taller than Bhatti.

He is a lamba chaurha dude. Hv Seen him personally.
If not for that lazy eye, he packs a good personality.
But his voice isnt deep enough to go with it. A bit like in misbah's case where he has a high pitched, whiny sort of tone, totally different from the appearance

You've only found out about them recently. Ppers including moi have known Mir and Majid for a year now. Mir even longer.

Not fat, at least not anymore. Has a Starc/Johnson type physique.

Mir Hamza is a very good prospect not now but since his first FC season 3 years ago. He has had 3 camps with Wasim akram and he impressed wasim in the first camp.

He has reduced his weight in last 1 year and has increased his pace by 5 kph and has improved his yorkers ad slower ones. Both these deliveries were not in his armoury 1 year ago and we saw only him and shehzad Azam rana to bowl these two deliveries with perfection and precision in last held T20 tournament.

But.

Having said all that I request Fans not to over hype him. He isn't rebirth of Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, shoaib akhtar , shahid nazir, Mohammad Zahid, wasim akram ,Waqar younis or imran khan .

Do not overhyped him as a young sensation.

He still needs to improve his runup and pace . He is not of Boults pace as people are comparing him to Boult and saying he will be trent Boult of Pakistan. Mir with this pace can be success in south Africa, England, new Zealand. But don't expect him to bowl like Amir or Asif if subcontinent , uae and zim etc

He is one of the better products of our domestic but he bowls between 128 to 140 kph mainly between 132 to 137 kph. So he needs to add 5 kph to his average pace to succeed on these pitches and to have a better record than imran khan , Junaid Khan and Rahat ali on subcontinent, UAE and zim pitches mir needs to increase his pace by 5 kph still.

Backing someone does not mean they're hyping him to become the next superstar. Nobody's called him the next sensation, he's a quality thinking bowler and would be a nice addition to the fast bowling lineup.

Mir isn't an LOI bowler anyway.
 
Mir Hamza is just another overhyped trundler. He is a mediocre bowler who is made to look good by seaming wickets and poor batsmen. I think its time to stop bump this thread.

I hope that he gets picked by a PSL team. I have hope in Mir Hamza and Majid Ali. The only two who i have backed before it was cool.

Must be a bad day at office if anything. Its silly to use one match to define a player.
 
It was just a bad day at office. Still I have faith in his abilities. He has in him to excel at international cricket.

He hasn't played much listed overs cricket in his peak years ie last 1 year or so , so [MENTION=139353]ChachaCricket[/MENTION] his list A stats are misleading.
[MENTION=138379]#GreenRoars[/MENTION] I would prefer him over Zia ul Haq aswell because Zia is erratic.

And those who are over hyping Junaids today's performance should better read the Commentary thread regarding his wickets. With this performance it cannot be said that Junaid is back. Junaid will be back when he will be bowling 135 to 145kph with both swings and still both these things haven't been rediscovered. I am his fan and I want him back at the same level and I wish I am proved wrong but with that knee I don't expect Junaid to comeback to 2012 level.

And technically Junaid needs to reprogram his runup fully. He needs to get rid of the runup jump fully (completely) and run with same rhythm from start to end without the midway break and jump.

He does not look suitable for LOIs, but can do well under swinging conditions in Tests.

Need England like conditions to be effective.
 
Not sure what to make of Mir Hamza, Zia ul Haq and Sadaf Hussain. They may be really talented bowlers or they may be trundlers making merry on the green pitches that are regularly found in our FC competitions.

I don't get this logic, this is defensive posture. Why a bowler cannot bowl in LOI? - Cannot swing or don't have control or bowl too many rubbish balls or have no pace? What is the issue?

There are one too many issues with pacers now a days with Pakistan, to begin with they don't have pace. Which used to be the bench mark. When you don't have pace, you have to work very hard or need to have exceptional skills and control to be effective at international level, which only Asif had in last 30-40 years, none of the other pacers, had relied just on skills and control to survive or thrive at international level. Even at international level only McGrath, Ambrose and Pollack are ones who thrive on control and skill(Even then important of height can not be underestimated). If guy have no pace, I would write him off!!!

Pakistan had history of pampering their batsmen in domestic level with lifeless pitches, that test nothing. When they come to international level they had nothing in terms of skills, even playing spin they learn at international level. Look at all new batsmen, Rizwan, Harris, Babar, Umar etc none of them can play spin, the only guys who can play spin(YK, Misbah, Malik, Hafeez, Sarfraz etc) are the ones who had being playing test cricket or international cricket for 5 years, they were dud when they first came to international cricket as well. But now non of them can play fast bowling...

This pampering of bowlers with green wickets is a disaster strategy, this will kill whatever bowler culture we had in past. Now Pakistan is starting to doing that for bowlers as well. Quality of ball, pitches is such that pacers are well below international standard. They cannot swing the ball( used at international level), don't have pace, no reverse swing, FC is factory of completely useless trundlers :facepalm:

No. If someone has no skill you can put them out of your mind and you will never be wrong. No matter how fast they will disappoint. See under Sami. It doesn't cut the same way with speed. Its silly to write them off because you do not think they are fast, because there is at least a chance they will do well. See Asif, Anderson, Philander, Southee, the late Lillee, or even the late Steyn, whose mostly mid to high 130s these days but still very useful.

Ultimate we all love to see bowlers who are both fast and skilled. Indeed the ability to harness speed, via variations in pace, etc, is a skill in its own right. But of the two, the one ingredient you cannot do without is control.

Echoing a recent post on this Board, I would say that the other, less talked about problem for some years has been a dearth of senior bowlers in the national outfit who are able to pass on skills to the junior ranks. Even someone as absurdly talented as Akram need to learn from Imran. And Akram was there to teach Akthar etc. In the current side, the senior statesmen of seam are...Wahab and Irfan. And Waqar, whatever his other merits - I can't see any but others insist he has them - has not been able to plug the gap.

From a neutral point of view. They should have played Mir Hamza today. Not sure why. Is jk feeling unsecure?
