“Everyone is in pain and sadness as to what went wrong. Everybody knows where we went wrong and we have to learn from these games and situations and become better. The unit that we have here, should not be broken, and no one should raise fingers at any player for their players for their performance.”

“There will be no negative talk, we will learn and hope not to repeat the same mistakes in the upcoming games. We have worked hard to make this team and build this unity, and one defeat should not affect it"

“As a captain, I back everyone on and off the field, and the team has a family-like atmosphere, and everyone has taken responsibility in every game. The effort is in our hands, the result isn’t. The results will follow if we keep continuing to put effort as a team on the field and let this not lead to a fall for anyone.”

"Lets all lift each other up, back each other as this is the time when we have to support each other; If I hear that someone is blaming another, then they will hear words from me as well. No one is to talk [blame] the other. Lets keep the same atmosphere [of a team bond] going. Yes it hurts but lets learn from it and sooner we learn from it, the better it will be for all of us"

Matthew Hayden

"We put in every last bit of effort that we could and left nothing on the field of play and we should all be proud of ourselves, certainly I am very proud of you all; There were some extraordinary performances, with Rizzy and Shoaib to get up for tonight's game; It takes great courage to get involved in a tournament like this - great courage"

"So keep those heads up - the pain will be short term but remember what it takes to be the best, some of those areas you need to work on both individually and collectively; Gosh I am so proud of you and its been a great month"

Vernon Philander

"These things happen, but for me its about the learnings that we take from these moments; Of course we are hurting and its a bitter pill to swallow, especially when we had an amazing run and had momentum on our side; As I said, its a bitter pill to swallow but let us learn the lessons about where we could have been better tonight because ultimately these are the moments we play for which are the big games; The sun will come out again tomorrow - lets get through this together"

"From my side, thank you very much and I am really proud of the way you guys fought together; We asked you guys to come back every time and every time you guys gave us an extra 5% we were looking for; Unfortunately the result went against us tonight but heads up boys and lets learn from this"

Too much brotherhood in the unit is not good. A captain has to make difficult decisions in the interests of the team ie dropping an out of form player when he has been given enough chances to find form

One statement outside, another one inside :jimmy

But to be fair to Babar, he probably was pressed into publicly saying what he did by Bazid's leading question - what was the game changing moment - and the fact that it was right after the game, in the heat of the moment.

Nice acting by everyone involved. They were reading a script for the camera. This is social media PR.

I bet the joker Hassan Ali got a well-deserved mouthful behind cameras.

Babar maintained a similar stance to this video in the presser as well.

Happens with every team in any sport

He specifically pointed out Hassan Ali's mistake.

I am talking about the press conference after the match. Yes in post match interview when Bazid asked about the turning point he mentioned the drop alongside batting finish(I think) but, there is nothing wrong in being honest without naming or blaming anyone that yes it was an important moment however its part and parcel of the game.

More quotes from Philander and Hayden added to post #1

People shouldn't be making too much of Babar mentioning the dropped catch in the post-match interview. Bazid asked a question about "turning point" and Babar felt he needed to mention the catch. Even then he just said the result could've been different.

Could've avoided mentioning it altogether, I guess, but Babar's not very experienced at this.

There will be questions asked of Babar and his side - he needs to be able to explain his thought process clearly so we can understand

1. Where we went wrong
2. How he intends to fix this

Keep making same mistakes for years but yet to learn anything. Both Hafeez and Malik proved that out of form oldies will be always burden to the team.

Is Saqlain, Philander, Hayden and wannabe coach Majed's term finished or will they continue?

People shouldn’t over react.

20/20 is a game that has very fine margins, and in this case winng toss was a factor as well (but not main factor).

This tournament is in its 7th edition and we are about to have a 6th different champion. There is a reason for that as on the day there is no guarantee you will win as you can stumble at the last hurdle like England and Pakistan did in their semis despite being the best 2 teams.

The only thing I will say is always about play your best players that are in good form so you have the best chance to win.

it's pretty much clear that players are not happy with the performance of Hasan Ali, and why they wouldn't be? You can not stick with the weak link, who let's your performance down as well due to his non-ability and lack of interest on cricket.

Didn’t Babar himself throw Hasan under the bus in his post match interview?

The catch was one thing what I don’t understand is;

1) Why Hafeez didn’t bowl earlier to Warner before he was set?
2) When Imad came on to bowl his third over he bowled a really good one with only three singles I think which took the Required rate up, why did he not come back for the 4th instead he was replaced with Hasan bowling his 3rd and 4th back to back?
3) Hasan had some kind of issue after bowling his third over he went down on his knees and physio came out surely if he wasn’t 100% after he bowled his 4th he should have gone off the field allowed a sub on who perhaps would have taken the catch.

Man, this is not your mohallay ki team where you need to keep selecting and backing the players even when they do not perform. This is Pakistan team where a lot of players are waiting in queue and you have to take difficult decisions which are in best interest of Pakistan team, not your friendship.

And what is this stunt of team meeting videos by PCB's media? I have not seen any professional board posting these team meeting videos after matches on their social media accounts.

Words of true wisdom and great to see the collective spirit of brotherhood. Anyone who states otherwise has never been in a leadership position.

First lesson of good leadership is to back your team members but let not honest be a victim. There will be badly informed idiots who will try to infect your culture with negativity and such people should be treated for what they are, idiots!

This is the best I have seen the team play in years.
Yes people made mistakes but learn from them replace players but more to improve the team not to single people out. IF you perform you play.

Shoaib and Rizwan great fight to come back from illness.
Shaheen Shah Afridi had Australia on the ropes early on but they fought back.

Learn:
1. When Warner was in, Pakistan were running out of ideas.
2. Australia batting tempo even after wickets was better than Pakistans, improve this with a attacking approach in T20.
3. No balls, silly double bounce 9 runs.. ultimately add up.
4. Mix it up at the end, the time off every ball a yorker against some players is over.

Great effort but snatched defeat from the jaws of victory just like England a night before.
