[VIDEO] "What I will tell my team is "bilkul ghabrana naheen hai" [no need to panic]" : Babar Azam

If that is the literal translation of what Babar actually said in Urdu than that is actually a fantastic response.

That was the best answer anyone can possibly give. Someone needs to ask Shoaib what is the actual definition of a “brand” and a “star” according to him. It was interesting at first, then it was funny for a while but it is just lame and boring now.

I will actually like if Shoaib is given a dual role in the PCB in their Brand and Marketing Department and maybe to work with the bowlers in the off season. Unless the PCB pays him top dollar, i doubt he will be interested as he is already living a very comfortable life outside the PCB. If you actually listen to his interviews regarding Branding and Marketing, you realize that he knows what he is talking about and is not necessarily being Jazbati. Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan even approached him once to help them find sponsors for the domestic regional teams. I will be very interested to see him own a Rawalpindi PSL Franchise down the road.

To work in a Brand and Marketing department in a leadership role is not anyone’s cup of tea. MBA’s from top schools usually handle those roles and you want someone like Shoaib Akthar to be the head of that :)).

Akthar’s skill is that he is good at is bowling, maybe he should start helping out with that.

Also no doubt Shoaib Akthar is fantastic at promoting himself, incredible he has 1.5 M followers last time I checked on YouTube and probably more by now. As you said he might have good business sense but again that will only help him but not sure if that will translate into a leadership role for a pretty big and by all accounts a very complex institution like PCB.

TBH you don't necessarily need degrees to be a good salesman and self promoter. Some people are just born with the soft skills and you can't really teach those soft skills. It doesn't necessarily have to be a leadership role but a role where he has an opportunity to give Marketing, Brand Management, Social Media advise to players. If you listen to his interviews, you actually can see the guy deep down has a very good business brain and some of the things he suggests to the PCB to diversify, expand their broad casting, commercial revenue is worth listening too.

The only marketing that you will learn from top MBA colleges is the one that they did for convincing you to spend the absurd sums of money on their MBA course.

The time to worry is definitely here.

If Pakistan manage to lose a series 3-0 to an England C team then there is something horribly wrong and it needs looking at.

Shoaib Akhtar is a fraud post his retirement. I will tell you what will happen: he will make a few statements saying that he should get a job to bring "jazba, deleri" into the team, and will back away once the PCB attempt to approach him.

He is taking credit for the performances of Saqib Mahmood though he had no part in it at all. If he coached Saqib, then I'd give him credit, but I doubt Shoaib Akhtar's tips helped Saqib to that extent.

All he knows how to do is make boisterous claims and feed into the flames of already agitated fans to boost his own following and ego, but in terms of cricketing knowledge and analysis, he has nothing to offer.

If he gets a PSL franchise, it will be among the worst in the league.

A guy who thinks Rizwan should be dropped after averaging 80+ with a SR of 140+ has no cricketing IQ but instead operates on an agenda to boost his own ego and play into the hands of the media for any shred of respect.

I'd like anyone to show me something where Shoaib Akhtar has said something sensible and given suggestions. All he can do is point out problems that everyone can see, fun fact, all of us have eyes.

What is wrong is clear to see Pakistan simply does not have the kind of players they used to have years ago. The team is so bad they even miss a player like afridi who is a better bowler Afridi or shadab on current form? Who is a better batsmen.

What is the role Ruaf is given and what good does he bring to the team? He doesnt move the ball an inch and always goes for plenty and pick up some cheap wickets?

How come every new comer who comes in the team is such a poor fielder?

Yes, being the best batsman in the team with not many great players. Flemming was not a good captain from day one, it took loads and loads of experience for him to develop and grow as a captain. Continous chopping and changing is going to be very damaging for the team in the long run

I wouldn’t argue against giving Babar a long rope but for that he will need to continuously deliver with the bat at the very least, it would be horrific for the team if his batting slips due to captaincy, Flemming was a tough cookie, too early to tell if Babar has a similar level of mental strength

The management should be blamed they batted rizwan at 4 even the English commentators mentioned that he should be at 5 or batting after 20overs ish.they also mentioned that saud should be batting at 4 I totally agree.thiers no use of saud batting down the order.

Babar Azam after today's defeat:

“We gave away too many runs, perhaps 30 extra, and were not able to carry the momentum we built at the start. I backed my decision to bowl first as we have chased down totals in the past. [In the run chase] I then lost my wicket at a crucial stage. I hope for an improved performance in the decider."

Babar Azam speaking to the media:

"Faheem's performance was there for all to see. He showed his aggressive intent and he shows that same aggressive mindset every time I asked him to bowl. When you play back to back cricket games, then it obviously puts a load on your body and keeping that in mind we rested him a bit on the tour and prepared him for the Test matches and the results of that preparation are apparent to everyone"

"He put in a great effort on behalf of the team, regardless of whether he was bowling, fielding or even batting as we saw when he batted alongside Fawad Alam in that crucial partnership in the first Test. He is improving day by day and that is great news for me as a captain"

"When we batted second, we knew we had 150 or so runs in the bag and if could double that lead, it would be good for us which is what happened; We also planned to make West Indies bat for about 20-25 overs towards the end of the day, so we batted according to that plan and we told each batsman to play with a positive mindset; All our batsmen, including the openers played with a positive mindset and achieved the total we wanted"

"There was no pressure on as such after we lose the first match - Of course if we had taken the opportunities offered to us in the first game, we could have won that game too, but sometimes you do well and other times you don't too good"

"Conditions in the West Indies were different and the openers were finding it tough, but yes, the performance of our openers wasn't as good as we demanded and expected from them. This is the time when as a captain you need to back your players and support them as much as possible because they have performed well before also"

"The next Test series is not for a while so we will think about it at a later point but we need to recognize their contributions as well. Imran Butt may not have done well with the bat but he made good contributions by taking outstanding catches. So sometimes, you can do well in one aspect of the game not so good in the other"

"There were many positives such as Shaheen Shah Afridi's bowling, Fawad Alam's batting and the way he and the players performed as needed by the team in difficult times"

"Then we had the bowling of Nauman Ali on a pitch which didn't appear to be one that would take turn but using his experience, he took some crucial wickets"

"Improvements are needed by the openers and we also need to work on our fielding a bit and we also need to make sure we don't lose the positive momentum we gain at times"

"You have to be involved in the game at all times as captain and show your positive intent as the whole team is looking at you for direction"

"My ideal captain is Imran Khan - from what I have heard of his leadership from former players, I know that he was active on the field and took bold decisions so I am trying my best to follow him"

"Kemar Roach did not bat like a tail-ender in the first match, he batted like an all-rounder and we tried different tactics on him but unfortunately that didn't work; We did try bouncers also, but remember in Tests we dont bowl like in T20s where we bowl yorker after yorker as the other side also comes prepared; If we had taken catches, the scenario would have been different; We do make plans with Waqar Younis for our bowlers to follow but unfortunately sometimes they don't work"
