[VIDEO] Why Usman Khan would be better off playing for the UAE instead of Pakistan

Was it the right decision for Usman Khan to give up his UAE contract and play for Pakistan?

Mediocre PSL bully. Garbage second grade bowlers like Siraj are making him dance on the pitch.

Rubbish

I can bet on my house that there is no chance for his success

At first I was worried for his decision, now you reap what you sow. Please drop this useless batter and let’s move on.

Pakistan may as well pack their middle order with technically correct(er) batsmen. These psl superstars are always found wanting at this level. Drop ifti, Usman, shadab and Imad. Bring in Shafique, Shakeel, Haseebullah/Saim and Jamal.

Id give him the remaining two games purely because I have even less confidence in Moin’s beta and Ifti

Azam K has a better technique :ROFLMAO: This one needs 2 years in domestic cricket. He reminds me of a worse version of Khurram Manzoor.

I already predicted that he will never succeed at international level. You needs eyes, stats are not everything.

Reminds me of nz tailender Chris Martin.. 1 decent short ball his international career will be over!

He played one of the biggest games in sport.

Just the game is bigger than a potential career in UAE. He made the right decision as did Pakistan by selecting him.

Not every selection works out but you have to try.

Told it before and will say again he has destroyed his future himself . He was bound to fail and will be thrown out of team soon . I don’t blame him but he should have been smart enough to know what will happen if he fails .

What a horrific batter and fielder. A deer in front of headlights. Everytime he stepped in, specially with the bat. He had no clue what was happening.

He is lucky to play for Pakistan. UAE would probably be feeling relieved that he is out of their plans.

Probably will be dropped from Team Pakistan soon.

He should've stayed with UAE. He could've been settled financially.

I called it before he was even picked that he's garbage at best. Clueless posters were saying he better than anyone in Pakistan. Should be his last game and binned forever as he clearly doesn't have the skills or the talent to succeed.
I would rather play Khushdil and Asif than him

Don't even feel bad for him. He made his bed by denouncing uae. Now he's back to playing pak domestic like before. We need to stop selecting guys based off of psl.

What will happen to Usman now. He killed the hen that laid golden eggs and laid eggs himself in every innings he came out to bat this world cup.

So... he is banned from UAE, but he can always go to another country.. :afridi

There is a big difference between hacks and power hitters. Stoinis, West Indian mercenaries, Tim David are power hitters. Usman khan is a hack.

This scenario has played out many times. He’ll either be dropped soon or given another series after Babar and others are dismissed following the World Cup. Alternatively, he might be recalled in a year or two after putting up useless numbers in the PSL. However, it's likely, if not certain, that his international cricket career for Pakistan is nearing its end.

Eventually, he'll appear on Geo or ARY and vehemently criticize the PCB, claiming he was misled and not given a fair chance. He’ll say that any other country would have invested in a player like him. He'll critique the technique of the Pakistani openers with no self-awareness, oblivious to the irony in his words. Years later, we’ll learn he’s settled in England. When approached by the PCB for a coaching opportunity he will decline saying associating himself with Pakistan cricket was the worst decision of his life.

Time to settle in USA and make friends with the desis in USA team. Be the next USA player to down Pakistan in the next t20 WC.

He will make money in T20 leagues including PSL. He will be financially set even if he isn't representing Pakistan.

That's some foresight!

We didnt help Usman by constantly moving his number from 3, to 4, to 5.
The usual lame excuse. We know what we would have said had Saim played at 4 and failed.

Usman is 100% responsible for failing so far & if this is it for him, he can’t blame PCB.

Kept telling people that guy isn’t cut for international cricket @Savak kept arguing otherwise.

Many other domestic bullies are going to fail like him. Right now Pakistan is seriously short of talent.

He is one of the worst player I have ever seen.
Look at the way he bats.
He has zero footwork, can't play short ball at all.
So awful and he was probably the worst fielder in the world cup.

He should be kicked out of Pakistan and UAE banned him. Pakistan should ban him as well.

Usman khan should have gone to UAE.

Pcb is not the board that can iron out your issues. You ain't going to become rohit sharma aka a faiked middle order bat becoming an atg opener.

Granted rohit even as a MO was leagues above usman ever can hope to be.

This lad just doesn't have the capability. But very very poor from Babar on not trying to give him a push because he is obsessed with opening or no 3

I doubt he will be out of the team for long if at all.

This was a disasterous world cup for batsmen.

He will get more chances.

The funny thing is that many posters in this thread are advocates of aggressive and positive mentality but are critical of Usman for taking a risk and burning his bridges with the UAE lol.

Usman has played one of the biggest fixtures in world sport, will likely play again for Pakistan and has backed himself to reach the highest level.

I hope people don't have such a lack of ambition in their everyday lives or pass this level of pathetic fear down to further generations.

Should get more chances on the usual flat tracks in t20s, these tracks were just too hard for the normal t20 hacks, only proper batsman could score on these pitches.

The way it's going, it seems UAE will have more upcoming batting talent than Pakistan, so Usman will be glad. He will get more chances despite failures in Pak than in UAE.

True, playing for Pakistan in a wc is something very few can boast about. It's a big deal and a dream come true, UAE just isn't the same

I know Usman was selected over the domestic performers and PCB made a mockery of the system, but this was not Usman’s fault. We are also judging him based on performances on some of the worst batting tracks in the world which is not fair to him.

To be honest Usman looked pretty decent against India. He also looks fit and is also not fussed due to his changing batting positions.

I would stick with Usman for 2 more series.

I think he has played his last game for Pakistan

Apparently Mohsin Naqvi encouraged him to give up on his UAE contract, dreams to play for Pakistan. If he is dropped from the team now, will Naqvi compensate him?

He doesn't have the technique or shot selection to succeed.

Same with azam, These 2 don't have any proper cricketing strokes and look very ugly, Basically gully cricketers.

League is different. International involves the 15 best players from the entire planet while League involves a mix of Everyone and everything. David wiese from Nambia is a star in League lol.

Again, as I said previously in this thread, I don’t understand this attitude. Why should he be treated differently to any other player just because he ran away from Pakistan to try his luck elsewhere?

Naqvi or any other chairman or any selector/captain cannot guarantee him that he will be selected or have a long career with Pakistan.

He was encouraged to give up his UAE contract because Pakistan wanted to consider him for selection and they did. How long he lasts for Pakistan and what happens from here depends on whether he can grab his opportunities or not.

To claim that he should be compensated when he couldn’t perform for Pakistan and for dropped is laughable to say the least.

Should get 5 more chances on your usual phatta batting wicket and see what he is made of if he failed again then discard him.

I dount after such horrible performance Usman Khan going to get any further chance in Pakistan team.

His technique is horrific. It's like he's just learned how to bat a couple of years ago. Most of our batters are the same, flapping around the bat, not moving their feet and not understanding the technicalities.

Amazing how he was able to perform in PSL but it's more to do with how medicore the quality of PSL is.

We need thoroughbred middle order batters with solid technique and temperaments. Someone who has lived and breathed cricket since a young age.

I wish him well on his future endeavours.

But Usman is a domestic performer.

PSL is domestic cricket and he performed.

Just a couple of years ago we were all hyping PSL as the league with the best bowling quality. This guy came in and done well over a couple of seasons.

It's the same PSL that made people want Imad back.

Usman more than justified his selection.

Where are you hoping to find these thoroughbred cricketers?

It takes time to adapt to international cricket.

Usman Khan should be stuck with for T20 and ODI cricket.

Iftikhar and Shadab both need to be kicked out.

Is he getting dropped because Naqvi didn’t like his face or his name? He is getting dropped because he failed. He got a fair run and he failed.

Usman is not an international material. His technique is horrific. He might succeed in UAE with this kind of game against minnow teams but aginst proper attack, he is a walking wicket.

Should be sent back for some domestic cricket.

Funny thing is in PSL he looked okay-ish but in international he seemed like a tailender. Yes his technically bad but I think pressure got to him and his feet got glued, consequently he seemed worse. He had no balance. It seems like, he was playing without the lower body.

I am worried what would be his future now after horrible start for Pakistan

will he get another chance to play or has he had enough chances to prove his mettle?

The guy hasn’t been fairly treated. Just messed around in random positions. Clearly was the 2nd favourite to Saim. Yet he got the best stats by a country mile last PSL no one even came close.

I agree he looked bad. But the point of giving him a chance is to experiment if he can come good. If it doesn’t at least we tried and we will know for sure. He hasn’t even been given a run at the opening slot yet or really extended chances at any position.

When batsmen are called up to the international side, they need to be given a proper chance to see if they can perform. Otherwise there is no point choosing them for the international squad in the first place. With some cricketers it feels almost they get calls up just to prove they will fail. Give him a run at the opening position. Then we will know for sure if he’s good enough or not.

We pulled the plug on Saim too late. It was clear he wasn’t going to perform after Ireland series concluded. Usman should have opened against England. Then when Saim failed against England, they went back to Rizwan and Babar. I still would have just told Usman you have all of the World Cup as opener. Instead I think the man will just be gone out of the international squads now without a proper run.

Usman Khan really looked all over the place when he batted. He looked to be struggling every time he was oni the crease. Not sure if he is an international material after such a horrific start.

Usman Khan's crucial 38 off 36 helped Shaheens recover from early wickets, leading to a successful chase against Melbourne Renegades in Top End Series match. How would you rate his crucial innings today?

Usman Khan is the top run-getter for Pakistan Shaheens in the Top-End T20 series in Darwin.

Matches: 7

Runs: 163

HS: 57

SR: 129.37.

With such a performance, will he maintain his place in the Pakistan white-ball squad?

one thing has been established that he is not an international material who cant handle pressure at all so it would waste of time if he again get a chance to play for Pakistan

His numbers are not bad considering the empty cupboard we have , he must open with Rizwan with Babar coming one down followed by saud , Fakher and Niazi at 4,5 and 6 and then we can have Mubasir/Arafat as an allrounders and 3 pacers and Abrar/Arif being specialist spinner.
Add Jahandad in to the mix as well

It’s not fair to make that judgement. He hasn’t been given proper chances, and just random positions in the side. He absolutely dominated PSL and done well in this shaheens series too.

I agree he didn’t look great at the crease but would rather give players like this time to at least prove for sure he is not good enough. I think a run of games as opener would be good to see how he does.

We go through batsmen more than any other country. There comes a point where we can’t keep doing this. If Usman fails after a run of chances, we’ll know for sure. It’s also not like there’s much competition right now to try instead so might as well give chances to Usman.

Ikr? We do go through batsmen more then any other country, yet you don't seem to have any issue with rizwan replacing fakhar.

Fakhar has had 92 games in t20. 36 as opener. And still in the team. Rizwan literally won t20 player of the year after he took up opening after fakhar was struggling. And whether that title is overrated or not, it was more than what fakhar was outputting in t20s at the time.

You can not compare the amount of chances Usman is given to that. Give Usman 30 chances as opener in t20s and I think he will outperform Fakhar’s return so far there too. Most would.

I have no objections with fakhar being tried again as opener. In fact I was for it. Especially after the ODI World Cup.

This narrative of how fakhar was betrayed is wrong. He underperformed. Even Fakhar himself admits it. I also find it double standards that people overlook chances for fakhar at 3 claiming its ill suited as an opener. And yet Usman has had 5 chances at 3 (and none at opening) and yet that’s enough to make a conclusion on a “top order player”.

Wrong, this is the issue with people looking at crininfo stats and not understanding consistency is not greater then value.

Fakhar was never meant to make pathetic 50 of 40's. Fakhar was the guy who took pakistan to no 1 rank by scoring 91 of 46 against australia in a tri series final, That was an attack filled with zampa, Stark, etc etc.

Rizwan being icc cricketer of the year is meaningless. Fakhar was the guy who gave you the no 1 rank that day, He was the guy who won you ct, he was the guy who saved your stupid campaign againat NZ before RR messed it up.

Rizwan as an opener has been infuriating with consistent losses being caused by him especially 2022 final in asia cup.

You guys just don't understand that value is greater then consistency. No wonder threads about Misbah > Inzimam are made smh.

Fakhar was not a failure in t20 opening by any means just because you look at espncricinfo stats and don't actually bother watching that era or have memories of a gold fish.

He was the primary reason you achieved no 1 rank and Rizwan is a major major major reason why Pakistan have not been able to win tournaments even local Asia cups.

Stop looking at icc cricketer of the year. This is the same board that thinks Babar is no 1 in the world.

If it weren’t for his ODI career no one would vouch for fakhar in t20s. Even not opening is not excuse for that sort of record. And it has nothing to do with value, the guy is just a very unusual player. I have never seen an opener as good as him, who is that inconsistent early on. He actual struggles more as a player in the opening overs than later on where he accelerates where he is difficult to get out. This isn’t normal opening behaviour. Compare to Sharjeel who is also a big hitter, Sharjeel dominates the attack from the start which is really what most aggressive openers do. That is just the player he is.

I’ve never really understood the whole fakhar vs Rizwan debate. Rizwan didn’t keep fakhar out of an opening spot. Fakhar was struggling as an opener and management made a decision to open with Rizwan. People act like Rizwan has full control of the team. I’ve always thought our strongest combination would be Fakhar and Rizwan opening, with Babar at 3. I’ve never understood why this combination has not even been tried yet.

It doesn't matter.

I already told you that his stats aren't reflective one bit.

It's the same misbah vs Inzi argument all over again.

Fakhar was the one who took you to the no 1 t20 rank that day in the tri series while rizwan is the one who's taken you out of the Asia Cup, amd to the no 7 rank in t20. Case closed.

I will go against the grain of this thread and say all Usman needs is confidence and one good inning in International cricket. He should be given more chances considering he left UAE for Pakistan.

Its rare to see a bloke place his country first. He should be persisted with. Thats all I will say.

So mediocre performance continues from this guy. Could not even show against club level teams that he has got the game.

Looks like he will soon be thinking about his decision of staying back in Pakistan.

I mean uae wasn't that prosperous either.

Problem with Pakistani people is lack of education.

It's not like netravalkar who is enjoying the good life, aka gets to play cricket and earn income on the side.

Gets to work at Oracle, which is literally top 5 largest programming companies and the largest database management company in the world.

Dude went to Cornell university, has a senior position in the company and to top it off his wife owns Bolly X, the fitness app which is popular in USA for Indians and even featured live on shark tank.

Compare that to Someone like sami aslam who had nothing, and went to usa only to work at a gas station.

Usman Khan would have been more messed up in UAE because unlike usa their is no chance of becoming a UAE citizen.

People don't understand that Usman Khan would have suffered in UAE as well and wouldn't have any opportunities. His only opportunity is to become mainstay in pakistan cricket team, otherwise he's done for.

Netravalkar is different, you're comparing Usman Khan to an IVY league graduate working in a multinational company + a waifu business owner who has made multimedia appearances.

Their ain't no way Usman Khan would be living the dream life lol.

Right now UAE must be thanking him for his decision to leave their cricket. lol

Usman Khan steals the show with a blistering 87(60) in Pakistan Shaheens' 8-wicket win over Bangladesh 'A' in 1st One-Day match. His impressive knock propelled the hosts to a successful chase in just 27.5 overs.

Now, will Usman Khan continue to play for Pakistan Shaheens, or does this performance revive his chances with the national side?

Like it or not he is the best better for Shaheen in both Darwin tour and now against BD A , deserves a proper run in both T20s and ODIs on flat wickets he is the closest to dynamic modern day batter we have in our ranks.
