[VIDEO] Why Usman Khan would be better off playing for the UAE instead of Pakistan

Was it the right decision for Usman Khan to give up his UAE contract and play for Pakistan?

Once again Usman Khan started with a failure in domestic cricket scored 8 (14). Why doesn’t the PCB negotiate with UAE and send him back there? This guy is of no use to Pakistan cricket.
 
You have to give credit to Saqlain Mushtaq for changing the batting style of Usman Khan

He is playing very mature innings and building innings like a senior batter should for the Panthers against Dolphins in Champions One-Day Cup 2024.
 
Usman has decent List-A stats. Still early days but I like the way he has approached this game against the Panthers.
 
3rd fifty of List A career for Usman Khan today against the Panthers. He has played 5 games total including today's game and has 3 50s so far. Good start.

Lol Usman Khan has proved his quality in international cricket.

He is just a hack who can't play any decent bowling at all.

Below are screen shots of Usman Khan's T20I international career....and Babar's last 8 tests.

Umsan failed in six out of 8 failures... he was the highest scorer at Oval vs England with his 38.

Babar Azam ..... on the other hand, has technically failed in his last 15 test innings..... so how many more chances Babar should be given before dropping him from the test team?

P.S. I am not comparing Usman with Babar... only asking should we use the same method to measure both batmen performance or different? Why or why not?

I said we do. I gave you Fakhar as an example. Babar has a 160ish against England as well, Imam has also hit 150.

If a top 3-4 player scores a run a ball hundred, he can really maximise and go for 160+

There are some players who can cause more damage once they get their eye in. Usman Khan has that potential. You will see it some day, he will score a big hundred
 
You want to see how far Pakistan team has fallen just look at the poll results. Funny thing is I bet the people that felt Usman should make use of more financially lucrative possibilities are probably those that want other players to prioritise country over franchises.

Usman played well today. He has played well in the past. I'm not sure why people are always so keen to write him off. I hope he goes from strength to strength.

Why has been written off as a tailender? Just because he had a poor world cup where everyone failed?
 
Usman should've stayed with UAE. His career and livelihood could've been secured.

Possibly a major career blunder.

Excuse me , but what livelihood would have been secured? All he would have had is ECB contract which is not very lucrative and access to playing T10 league. There is no citizenship or anything, he would always just be an expat.

Anyday trying for a PCB contract as a national player is a more financially lucrative and achievement wise more prestigious proposition.
He will also have PSL league and if he shows his skill there can play in 2 other leagues around world.

I do not like the way the poll on this thread has been framed. It is showing a false dichotomy of foreign riches vs national pride.

Pakistan is not a small cricket country and deciding to play for Pak over a member nation (especially UAE) is not some noble or magnanimous gesture. It is a privilege to play for Pak and Usman has taken the decision after considering all financial ramifications.

Excellent point about the wordings of the poll options...simply because nobody knows how much he was being paid for playing in UAE for UAE. If it was more than what he is being paid now, most of the 2nd tier players would have left Pakistan to play for UAE.
 
Usman is showing his form and that too in the middle order. But the real problem is if he gets selected in the squad, will he play at number 4? I don't think so.
 
Really & truly whoever was in the middle/late order in paks World Cup team should never play for Pak again,usman Ifty azam should find new jobs.. 48 of 48 with 8 wickets in hand.

Fakhar is so inconsistent that I almost dont count him. If he comes good, hurray. If he doesnt then we need to rely on other batters, as always.

I have no intention of rubbing you the wrong way but there are currently only 3 batters in Pakistan who can consistently score 130+ in an ODI innings if sent to open. Babar, Riz & Imam. I agree that may not be a match winning 130, but that is the best you will get as far as Pakistan’s current reserves are concerned.

Pakistan’s best chance to be decent in ODIs is to launch 6 proper bowlers. The batting will not score 350+ even if you play 11 batters.

Anyone in the Pakistan side on their day and against a weak opposition can score a 130+ score if they are sent up and take their time…that’s not the point

There are those batters who have a habit of going massive more than others. Guys like Rohit, Warner, DeQock etc. Most big teams have had that big daddy hundred player or players in their side. Fakhar is that big daddy hundred player in the side, he hasn’t just done it once…he has Megaladon hundreds on a few occasions.

That’s 4 big hundreds out of his 11. So he clearly has the fitness and know how to keep going once he gets the hundred.

In your current lot, Saim and Usman Khan have that ability.

Usman may be, but I have seen Saim fail so many times that I find it shocking that he makes it to the playing XI of Pakistan and domestic sides almost every time. His match temperament is beyond disappointing.

Sharjeel has written off his own chances by signing up for Legends League and by doing nothing about his fitness and fielding.

Usman Khan has kept exceptionally well in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 so far. Previously, his wicket-keeping had been inconsistent, so it's great to see him showing improvement

Imam vs Fakhar ODI Stats against main teams since 1/1/2017:

I did not include Zimababe which eliminated Fakhar's 200 vs that team.

Rizwan has never opened an innings in an ODI for Pakistan. Where as Babar has opened in only two innings in ODIs back in 2015 -- scoring 22 and 4.
 
He is a decent player who can contribute in the middle order for Pakistan in both 50-over and T20 cricket, but people should not expect miracles from him. It will take time for him to become a consistent performer at the international level, as the standards are much higher compared to domestic cricket. However, if he is performing well in domestic cricket and deserves a place on merit, he should be given more opportunities, as there is potential for growth.
 
The problem with Usman is that he can only play on very flat tracks with no pace on offer , he will thrive and score tons on such surfaces irrespective of the opposition bowlers.

consistency is the issue with this guy on top of that he cant handle pressure of International games so no point keep investing on him.

No worries. I suspect Fakhar’s strike rate during power play is very poor and he only makes it up later in the innings. He is wasting power play but is still our best modern day player as per a genius gang.

Bairstow and Butler have played many matches togethers.
Sri Lanka has played as many as 4 keepers in the same match in last 2-3 years.
 
Usman Khan shined for Panthers today in the Qualifier of Champions One-day Cup 2024 as he played a blitz knock of 54*(26)

You played him in a t20 cup and took him right off the bat with virtually zero experience and didn't even hive him a proper role, as it was unclear if he was a no 3, 4,5 half the time.

You shoved him out to die as everyone was expected to go bang bang because of 2 fraudulent openers.

It's unfair to compare someone who was shoved under such circumstances over rizwam and Babar who's played over 100 games at their favourite positions and have had enough time to settle.

Rizwan averaged 11 when he came out during his early days and now that I think about it, He and misbah should have died together rather then ressructing in 2020

So why is Rizwan looking like a deer in front of headlights in the same competition with Rizwan for the past two comps? Usman outbatted him too in the PSL as well.

What’s the point of this competition if you are going to assume Usman can’t play international cricket????

It's not one of the other necessarily. Considering Saud's struggles, it's likely his spot is in question and may make sense to try Usman at 5. He does well vs spin and when he is set, he does have another gear.

Maybe he's not good enough for international cricket but with the piles of runs he keeps putting up and at a good SR, it certainly makes sense to give him a bit of a rope in international cricket to see if he can figure it out.
 
He is only a league cricket bully. Once international cricket resumes he will return to his real form.

Is it also not pakistan's problem that you removed an opener who got you 2 wins over full strength Australia to get you the no 1 rank but you shoved him aside at no 4 on the excuse of consistency when t20 is meant to be the most inconsistent format?

Or is it not pakistan's problem that your frontline keeper is the GOAT who averages 29 in this tournament and is playing filth?

Am not really a fan of Usman, but the lad got spirit and he’s a risk taker. Would definetely pick him over Rizwan.

Usman sacrificed a comfortable secure life style to play for his country with no guarantees and then there’s Rizwan while bending:

‘Babar idar maro football.’
 
PCB’s goal with this tournament was to tell us that you only have Rizwan in Pakistan.

My my my my, how that back fired lads 🙈

I bet you Rizwan got advance notice to, more time to prepare and do his famous conditioning work outs with his best mate which his fans keep banging on about.

Babar looked like "deer in front of lights" in last 8 tests and 15 innings...& misberably failed... what do you think, we should we do with him? Or you think, we should have different rules for both Babar and Usman?

How many more chances Babar deserves in test matches before he is dropped?

Why is this discussion about Usman vs. Rizwan? If both wicketkeeper-batters are good enough to be in the team as pure batters, why can't they both play? There are plenty of examples of this happening in other teams.

I don’t see why there isn’t room for both Usman and Rizwan in the lineup. It’s not like we’re overflowing with top-quality batters, and not every batter needs to have the same playing style.
 
If a poor player like usman khan is topping champions cup then it tells you lot about cricket talent in Pakistan. You have to be really bad to get out performed by a nothing player like Usman Khan. He showed his true colors in world cup. Such a poor batsman.
 
This nonsense of him replacing Rizwan aside, there is room for him in white ball cricket.

He can play at 5 in both white ball formats. Don’t come up with this rubbish excuse that he should only open or bat at 3 and don’t use that rubbish excuse if he doesn’t perform at 5. That’s the only spot for him right now.

If he is good enough, he will adjust. If he is not good enough, he won’t adjust and he will only have himself to blame.

People always conveniently use the position excuse to justify failures. Saim Ayub failed for 15 straight T20Is while batting in his preferred position. If he was batting in the middle order, people would use his position as an excuse.
