"You're gambling with World War III," Trump told Ukraine's president. He added, "You've got to be more thankful," and said, "You don't have the cards."

There has been a contentious meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. The discussion turned into a heated argument, with Trump telling Zelensky to "make a deal or we're out" during a tense exchange in the Oval Office. The meeting was part of efforts to finalize a deal involving Ukraine's rare-earth minerals and security assurances against Russian aggression

President Donald Trump shouted at Ukraine’s leader on Friday during an extraordinary meeting in the Oval Office, berating President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for “gambling with millions of lives” and suggesting his actions could trigger World War III.

The last 10 minutes of the nearly 45-minute engagement devolved into a tense back and forth between Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Zelenskyy — who had urged skepticism about Russia’s commitment to diplomacy, citing Moscow’s years of broken commitments on the global stage.

Only UK is holding its promise now.

Trump and Putin are the worst of creatures. And anyone who likes Trump's behaviour, he should also then like Netanyahu, Modi and perhaps even Hitler too.

Ukraine got chewed up and spat out by NATO. I feel sorry for their people. If the deal was to give up land and resources for protection then they would have been better sticking by Putin's side.

So maybe pak can help zelensky out?? Why do they need US dollars and weapons? And what guarantee?? Ukraine doesn't exist without US support. And they need to stop this long war and compromise. If they dont want compromise- they should fight it themselves. Dont ask the US for any aid..

Thanks for stating the reality. Whether folks like it or not- this is the reality. Let zelensky go to China EU ME - but he wont.. he knows none will give him financial aid or weapons. Let the other countries put their money where their mouths are. They wont - not even one... they all want an "alliance " with the US

He can't fight it himself. Who fights themselves? Does US fight itself? Most wars have multiple parties. US and EU led Ukraine on and now are putting the blame on Ukranians because they can't admit to concede to Russia.

This isn't an American win by any means. It's a big loss for the people of Ukraine though they have suffered big time

US shouldn't have been involved in this at all ftom the beginning just like Iraq war and Afg war. Trump was against them as well. Biden and his Dems funded the Ukrainian war. Now Trump is in charge and he's doing it his way. And what do you mean fighting themselves?? No blame here. Trump says stop the war or else no funds- dont waste US taxpayers money on stupid wars. Yes and we as Trump voters wanted the US to end these stupid foreign wars and to stop funding them especially as they want the funding but want no responsibilities or accountability. They can go get their funds from China ME etc etc.. and absolute success for the Trump voter. He shook things up in 4 weekd what Biden couldn't do in 4 years. Trudeau as well mellowed down from his we dont care for US belligerent talk. And not Starmer.. I think we should also look inward at some of the UK Pakistanis cheering for Trump. What should we say about the Pakistanis who were supporting Trump and are silent in shame now?

Ukraine entered into an agreement with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia to secure guarantees for its borders in exchange for relinquishing its nuclear arsenal. Trump has claimed he bears no responsibility for Russia’s actions during the tenures of previous presidents, but this stance is inaccurate since Ukraine’s agreement was with the U.S. as a nation, not specifically with the president in office at the time.Now Trump again wants Ukraine to give away its territory without making any security deals and only believing in Trump. Is it really JUSTICE?

One pro-Ukraine expert, normally supportive of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, cautioned that today’s shouting match between him and US President Donald Trump should be seen in a clear-eyed way.


“Ukraine is losing this war,” the expert said. “Russia is making tens of thousands of drones per month, and Ukraine can’t shoot them all down. Russia is making advances because Russia doesn’t value human life and is OK to lose thousands of men a day. Ukraine can’t keep up with that and shouldn’t.”


There are three options for Ukraine now, he explained.


  • “One, America can send military weapons and manpower and potentially, this starts World War III.
  • “Two, Ukraine can surrender and give in to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin.
  • “Or three, we give this ceasefire plan and deal that Trump is pushing a chance. I would go for option three. Trump was talking about Ukraine getting land back that it has lost just yesterday,” the expert said.

I don’t agree. In this world you’ve got to align yourself to one of the superpowers, USA or China. Pakistan itself has benefitted in a large extent from US aid and support. Yes it’s sad that Pakistan has bombed its own country as a trade off but given Pakistan’s terrible economic situation I can’t really say Pakistan would be better off standing on its own. And as we’ve seen there’s no other country but USA who is willing to support Pakistan in the way that it does. Have to be realistic. Again with Ukraine without USA, it might have lost the war already.

I don’t like Trump but I can’t realistically see any other solution. Russia will keep bombing Ukraine. The west will never give enough weapons and won’t deploy troops in order to win the war as they fear a world war. All they will give Ukraine is enough to hang in. Thus the war will go on forever and Ukraine will be reduced to rubble. Putin isn’t going to be easily disposed either and he won’t want to lose face, he has to get something in this war.

Trump can easily blame previous regime in Biden, make a deal with Russia and stop the war. He’ll even relish the credit of ending it. It isn’t fair, as Ukraine shouldn’t have to give up concessions to Russia, Russia invaded them.

As the saying goes the most disadvantageous peace is often better than a war. Ukraine (and Russia) are suffering every day, as well as countries wasting money funding this war. It’s the same situation sadly in Palestine, they have been suffering for decades and had they taken some of the peace deals laid out before they would be better off right now. Even if those peace deals were unjust, they just like Ukraine don’t really have the power to negotiate.

"" Am a total believer in this. Nations can use those funds for development, education, growth etc instead of wasting money and more importantly human life. No I don’t think he is. Even if he stops the war and holds onto some of Ukraine territory as an exchange for ending the war, Russia overall will be worse off than if they had never started the war. The hit to the Russia economy, trade and relations with countries (particularly Europe) has been too severe. Russia is now even weaker and more behind US and China as a result of this war.

Arguably what has transpired from this war is Russia and Europe have got weaker in comparison to US and China. Though having said that given that US and China, their biggest rivals are each other, it probably doesn’t mean much to them. It’d probably be in Europe’s best interest to work together to form a power that could possibly rival the weight of China and US, but clearly that isn’t going to happen.

Everyone is looking after its own interest. and now US is looking after its own. There is no absolute justice in the world.

It depends upon what YOU can OFFER.

Even without any agreement, it is the DUTY of the CIVILIZED world to stop the aggressor, which is clearly Putin here. And if the civilized world does not do it, then the world will turn into "Might is Right".

Yes, Trump wants to end all morals and laws, and want to make this world "might is right" and the "law of jungle" while it suits to all DICTATORS, and he is himself the biggest of dictators.

So you want people with mindset of "Might is Right" are right?

The West Europe saw no war in the past 75 years while they became civilized and they learned how to respect others.

But then there are dictators like Netanyahu, Modi, Putin & Trump etc who want to end UN and play might is right everywhere.

Instead of opposing this mindset, you are now supporting it one way or another. And the result will be disastrous as Putin and all these other dictators will not stop here, but they will then attack Greenland, Canada, Panama etc.

And be assured, it will be an end of Palestine too.

And Muslims all over the world (in non-Muslim countries) will also be killed left and right and no one will provide them with any justice.
 
This is a reality check for all countries of the world. Primarily those who often depend on special financial favours from other nations in goodwill but often there are vested interests on geopolitics, natural resources or trade.

It’s the US today that’s decided to publicly insult its historic allies like Canada, EU, Ukraine.

Tomorrow it might be China under a different regime. You never know when things change there also.

Current Trump regime reminds me of the Baniya / Thakur villain in old Bollywood movies who would shamelessly ask for unjust favours when a financially weak woman would go to them for help.

This is by far the biggest economy in the world, majority of the political issues in the world has some US meddling involved historically. They are the only country to have ever nuked another and after all these years they want to flex now, like this.

If it's the above agreement, then Trump didn't violate it at all. There is no defense pact not even a guarantee.

It's more like a MoU than a legally binding document.

Have given the explanation for this with the fine print above. And yes still will support Trump because he wants to end the war and not prolong it. And duty of civilized world?? Every country has its own interests. Why doesn't UK EU China Pak Saudi support and aid Ukraine? Why is it the sole burden of US?? All countries pay lip service but none want to provide any financial or military aid. Moral support is empry words..

Trump is a dictator?? He is a democratically elected president. Maybe it is an alien concept for Pak folks or ME but people vote to elect their president and Trump is looking after US interests firat as it should be..so Trump supporters have no morals?? Have explained it in the fint print details above. Actually US did way more than what they were legally obligated to do while EU and UK governments are just moral statements and words.

Read the whole thing and not cherry pick. No excuses. If EU Japan SK care so much- let them go help amd fund Ukraine. But none want to do. Talk is cheap.. let them put their money where their mouths are.

There will be betrayal if obligation is written in the agreement.

Show me the quotes in the agreement where there is obligation.

Allies who dont contribute their fair share are not allies. China is the biggest threat to the world by far. Russia is nowhere near. Its just the old timers in US who view Russia as the biggest threat. Its a reality check for these countries who constantly ttry to criticize US without contributing anything. There is a reason why Trump and Modi get along so well and the US Ind Strategic partnership will be defining partmership of the next half century. For both its country first. Modi as well has spoken out against the war. No winners in a war. Just prolonged misery. All the EU nations Canada etc are trigger happy for a war with Russia. If so- they should do it themselves and not ask US for help.
 
Very poor from Trump to humiliate Zelensky this way. He could’ve been slightly softer in his words when the cameras were on and given him stern words when cameras were off.
Zelensky is the leader of a free nation and did not deserve to be humiliated that way.

And that is what Trump is trying to avoid getting the US into. He is a complete 360 degree ttpe of president the US has never seen with respect to US foreign policy. Turning it on its head. And the banitmya thakur analogy doesn't apply here - as Trump is not asking any special favors for the aid. He is asking for the war to be ended and also save young Ukrainian and Russian lives as well. He is very anti war- the first US pres to be so anti war in along long time and willing to talk to adversaries like Putin, Jim etc

I used to be a critic of Modi saheb in his initial few years when I felt he became insensitive to people’s sufferings after becoming PM. But he grew on me as our representative in international politics. The world looks at him as a strong, patriotic leader and also a rock solid one whom they will keep seeing again and again, being the election winning juggernaut that he is.

But an insecurity is growing in me when I think of the succession plan. We are fortunate to have had his strong leadership. Modi has elevated us from a G20 to a prominent Top 5 player in global politics. We need to keep this legacy and have an equally strong and smart leader as his successor.
