Not always. There are lot of other factors involved. We can never come to the conclusion whether test cricket is harder or ODis are.
 
Faheem was selected in the team as fast bowling allrounder. He is not performing at all with the ball and is getting in the playing 11 from backdoor, by scoring some runs. Until recently he was a failure as a batsman too.

If we needs someone to score runs them guys like Saud, Ghulam and Salahuddin deserve a place.

If Faheem performs well with the ball and score some runs too, he should be kept in the team but not solely on the basis of his runs .

I think Amad Butt should be given a chance if Faheem fails to take wickets.

He plays all three formats so deserves to be in category B
 
A couple of decent performances then more struggles.

Really needs to up his game and start performing on a more consistent basis.
 
No point sticking with someone that hasn't got the sticking ability.

Thing is Pakistan coaches and selectors have both themselves in a corner with their persistent indulgence to a poor cricketer.

Shaheen whose considered as a bowler averages more than our all rounder. Things only a Pakistani cricket fan could ever say.

Honestly, I just want to skip forward 10 years because I can’t bare to see players who average 50 get dropped for players who average 12. It doesn’t make sense.

You’d think Pakistani sports journalist would have a lot to write about, but they seem to be more concerned about how many Karachi players are in the team. When was the last time a journalist put Misbah or Wasim on the spot? When was the last time they asked about how Faheem got into the team?

PCB has invested heavily in Faheem and I guess they want to give him every chance to succeed. But the consistency is lacking and the performances are rare. Sooner or later patience with him will run out.

Faheem is not the only failed investment of PCB , Misbah has been the biggest failure.

Averages 12 with bat and 42 with ball, and is considered as an all rounder.

I’m done with this team.
 
The first time he played I’ve been saying since then he is a nothing of a player and now everyone is seeing the light. He can’t bat , he can’t bowl and can barely field. This obsession of trying to find an all rounder has lead to us having these toothless useless players in the team. Needs to never play for Pakistan again. His stats are disgraceful
 
His bowling is not getting better and we need to think about his future.

He was somewhat a part time bowler to begin with, although he was able to generate some pace a couple of years ago. He seems to have dropped off a bit since then, and without pace, he hasn't really got much else.

No zip, no pace poor line and length.

Doesn't look fully fit either.
 
Time to drop him him.He is a bits and pieces player.A specialist spinner or faster bowler will better.

Form is temporary, lack of class is permanent.

It is easier to bat in Test cricket which is why he has done well, but I think things will go south for him in Tests as well.

Just a poor cricketer with little talent and no intelligence.

That has always been the story with past Pakistani allrounders.....afridi, m.hafeez, and the like. If you can persist with such craap, then we can stick with him, too

Afridi has played some of the greatest innings in all 3 formats both with bat and ball. By far our best All rounder after IK.
 
An absolute rabbit with the bat. Mentally weak. Bowling is tripe no intelligence. Can't catch either. Welcome to Pakistan first eleven. Ticks all the boxes

He’s been playing for Pakistan for a good few years now, how many times has he been touring England , and the guy still looks like he’s a debutant finding his feet at this level.
 
I reckon he’ll be averaging 1 before he gets dropped.

Would be interesting to see who has the lowest batting average with the number of games Faheem has played. [MENTION=138771]Firebat[/MENTION]

He is in the side for the opposition.
 
He must have some serious stuff on Misbah and Babar to blackmail them.
 
He's not a wicket-taker, nor a run-scorer.

Babar plays him because he can bowl 10 overs and not concede too much, and he gives Pakistan this feeling of hope that he can find some luck with the bat.

He is not good enough for international cricket.

Hasan Ali is a better option for a fast-bowling all-rounder. He should spend more time with Mohammad Yousuf, learn how to rotate strike and play the short ball. If he can do that, he will be a very, very useful cricketer moving forward.

If I've understood your query correctly: Faheem Ashraf has played 30 ODI's, so of all players to have played at least 30 ODI's (823 players), Faheem ranks 673rd in batting average (meaning 150 people have a lower batting average). Big caveat is that this includes bowlers, as trying to filter them out becomes a bit of a grey area. Though, that only makes it more worrying that he ranks so low, since he's supposed to be an all-rounder.

I used to think Moeen Ali had terrible record for an all rounder in ODI but this guy makes him look like Jayasuriya.

Neither a batsman nor a bowler in any format of the game. Absolutely astonishing how he's been a regular for 3 years without anyone questioning his selection.

he is not an allrounder,
he is not a batsman
he is not a bowler

What exactly Misbah likes about him ?

Are you seriously comparing Hafeez and Afridi with Faheem? Just look at each of their stats and performances in LOs cricket.

I mean really, for a nation that has produced Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Imran Khan. Is this really the best we have to offer.

Hasan Ali is a better bat than him. If Faheem plays at no.8 and Hasan Ali at no. 9 that means the management rates him higher than Hasan Ali as a batsman.

Hasan Ali fits perfectly at no. 8 and below that number I don't care if the player can bat or not. I want a teams best bowlers playing at no. 9, 10 and 11. If they can bat then it's bonus.

It's just an excuse to say Faheem is playing because he can bat a bit in LOs.

True. In fact at the moment I have more faith with Shaheen as a batsman than Faheem.

I wonder if this is another case of PCB putting all their eggs in the wrong player's basket.

I lost count on how many times I had to read over that post. Imagine putting Faheem Ashraf in the same sentence as the likes of Afridi and Hafeez

This is what I mean with all their eggs into certain baskets.

It seems that some players at the moment have a clear run on selection whether they perform or not. This guy has played 81 times for Pakistan but has still not established himself in any format.

When did I saw that zip , pace, line and length. Sorry can’t remember if he had that then his avg wouldn’t be 45 in odi cricket. There are many pseudo allrounders and the hype brigade put them equal to Lance klusener and Abdur razzaq

Aamer yamin should have been persisted with, at least he had swing and at better than this Fahrenheit ashraf who yet score a 30 or face score 30 balls in odi cricket.
 
He never flashed in the pan or in the past. Only Pakistan can stick faheems and wahabs with such inconsistencies
 
Man Faheem Ashraf is struggling for form man. I think in Test cricket he has relatively done well with the bat. But in LOIs, he's been poor, bottom line.

With Amad Butt and Aamir Yamin more than capable with the bat and bowl, its a wonder why wasting time with Faheem is necessary. The big problem is he's in the tour for West Indies as well as likely being in the T20 World Cup team. Him and Shadab need to be dropped.
 
We should just play a front line spinner instead of Faheem. I cant see why Usman Qadir not average more than 11 with the bat and also take crucial wickets in the middle.

Agree any bowler including Usman and Hasnain can contribute with bat in scoring what Fahim does, then there is also the new Wasim guy.
 
Torture of Faheem

This guy has been given numerous chances to showcase his skills and every time has disappointed. If a fans we can see this guy does not deserve to play at international level, why can’t the selectors??? When is this going to end? We need to replace this garbage!!! Bring in someone new from the domestic level who I am sure can perform better than this garbage.
 
Has to have some sort of connection in the PCB, there’s no way a player with his stats can survive 2 different managements and 2-3 chief selectors.
 
Well that explain the situation. As long as players are being forcefully brought into the team, we will continue get humiliated defeats. Someone has to be held accountable for this nonsense.
 
Faheem showed a lot of promise with the bat in NZ series. But since then he has been playing like a tailender once again.
 
Average speed around 80mph at the moment.

The England batsman walking down the pitch to him as if he's a spinner.
 
First game short and wide
Second ODI short and wide
Third ODI just plenty of width for the batsmen

He is the worst player we have had for a long time.
 
There are mediocre players but then there is a talentless trash like Faheem. Sorry but this guy won't even make a club team. He is a tailender with the bat and his bowling is really really average as well. Medium pace nonharming pies. Batsmen would love to bat against this guy.

He is like a robot. There is zero intelligence or hard work behind his bowling. It is amazing how players become bad to worse when they join national team.
 
Wahab Riaz is much better than Faheem : Salman Butt

In an emotional outburst, he said that Wahab Riaz is much better than Faheem in all the facets of the game. He's a much better batsmen, bowler and fielder than Faheem and I find it hard to argue against that.

Behaviour is also important. Alex hales is one example I can think of.

People need to know they are not above the game, I am not saying Wahab does or doesn’t think that. I’m just saying can’t have a bad attitude in the team

England can afford to drop Hales, Pakistan can’t.

I’d rather have a player who has behavioural problems but performs over someone who behaves well but doesn’t perform, in other words, an Asad Shafiq type of player.
 
Yes, for white ball cricket (Especially with Hassan around as well with some batting ability) he probably is but for how long exactly can he play for Pak especially in 50 overs cricket?

World cup is in 2023, Wahab will be 37 by then. So I personally dont think that would be great planning for 50 overs world cup. For 50 overs I would rather try either another pace bowling all rounder like Amad Butt or Nawaz/Imad depending upon the combination or even a specialist bowler who can ideally bat a bit atleast while Hassan can also provide bit of depth.

Yes for T20s with two world T20s coming up he can be considered.
 
The likes of Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmad must regret they did not play in Faheem and Shadab’s era as they were all superior batsmen and could be classed as all rounders today.
 
These days Pakistan cricket's definition of an all-rounder is generous.

Very soon we will be labelling Shaheen an all-rounder, because he can lift a bat and can hit the occasional run.
 
Faheem has become a harmless trundler who can give 10-15 overs a day in Test cricket and occupy the crease to score 30-50 runs. He has become useless limited overs cricketer who cannot be relied to give 10 overs with couple of wickets and score quick runs in the end.
 
PCB NHPC need to acknowledge the mistake and need to cut there losses in Faheem, cause clearly the lessons have not either been adhered or the players ability wasn't good enough. Faheem for me has shown enough to be presisted with in Test cricket.

His LOI's future has fallen below the depths, time to spend some time in domestic cricket and churning some performances for a comeback cause right now, this Faheem Ashraf is a huge problem for Pakistan. Amad Butt and Aamir Yamin are waiting in the wings, better time now than ever to bring them in.

He's always been a good cricketer in my eyes and can always give you those part time overs to fill in. I mean if you really wanna trial someone then perhaps give Wasim Jr as go, he had a decent PSL and not a bad domestic season in the Pakistan Cup plus the boy does have some good shots he can provide in the back end of an innings.

Amad Butt and Aamir Yamin are just about ok with the ball and both are about par with the bat with Yamin probably being the better batter. I wouldn't invest in either of these guys.
