[VIDEOS] Fakhar Zaman - Pakistan's most frustrating batter?

Sad to see him not being able to middle it today.
 
I don't know how he's managed to survive 37 balls with his technique!
 
His roll is to be the attacking player at the top of the innings, to take advantage of the PP and to put the opposition under pressure. We have plenty of consolidator players, so I don't know why he is playing like this. Today he has played 30 dot balls after facing 47 balls. I don't mind him getting out early if he's attacking but like this there is no point.

Saud won’t make a difference to the middle order .

Give Fakhar a break for the remainder of the tournament.

Very to early to say he is done and dusted . Prior to these 9 innings he had scored 3 100s in a row , and it was only this calendar year that this happened .

He will comeback inshallah.
 
There's no point persisting with Fakhar anymore. We aren't going to bat him back into form. He needs to work on whatever is going wrong over in the NHPC rather than on the pitch.

Two options now. Promote Rizwan up to open and bring Saud into the middle, or swap Fakhar and Mohammad Haris directly.

My concern with Rizwan opening is the new white Kookaburras are swinging prodigiously.

We saw him struggle in AUS in the T20 WC when the ball moved sideways.

Think if anyone should open it's Babar.
 
This guy was never that good to start with. Unless you drop few chances the guy is bound to fail. Such a timid personality.
 
Fakhar Zaman has been replaced by Muhammad Harris in the match against SL.

Fakhar now needs to understand that his inconsistency can cost him ODI career.
 
Good move to drop Fakhar, hopefully gives him time to take a breather and come back stronger for the WC.
 
I get that it’s a different management but we’ve tried Fakhar in different positions in T20’s, a format that he struggles the most in, but, we can’t try him at 3-4 in ODI’s? The only player in the team that’s actually suited to modern day cricket gets dropped.
 
I would want him to play tomorrow's game against Sri Lanka but the team management has decided to go with Haris at the top with Imam-ul-Haq. Hopefully, it turns out to be a good decision for Pakistan and the openers would provide a good start tomorrow as we need to make a good total with our relatively weaker bowling line up in the absense of Naseem Shan and Haris Rauf.

No doubt Fakhar has slowed down, but how does Imam remain in the xi but Fakhar doesn’t?

Shame we don't get Abdullah.

Haris should not open, he's a no 7. If saud doesn't play at no 4 and Management drops him, then allah hi hafiz hei. Zaman Khan being added is good though.

The only problem is he will go into the World Cup having been in awful form and dropped and with pretty low confidence levels.

Yeah this Asia cup has truly screwed up all the plans. Not sure what the line up for the first game will be now.

This is the reason why you must keep trying your bench strength to keep players on their toes. Fakhar has been the recipient of the golden boy treatment from the team management for far too long and it has hurt his career i.e. dont worry about 6-7 failures, the day you click you will single handedly win us the match. Professional ruthless teams do no tolerate such mediocrity for very long.

Why is he the only one in the top order getting dropped??

Fakhar always geting out in 20's which means he is not improvising.

What's the use of having someone in a playing 11 who can't get going after reaching double figures?

The runs Imam and Rizwan scored and the rate they scored them at against Bangladesh will be the reason if Pakistan do not qualify on nrr

I get the recent criticism of Fakhaf. He’s been short of runs, but he has always averaged 45 plus . So I don’t get this whole golden boy treatment and mediocrity tag that is being branded about him .

Even if he was not to play any further matches he is easily our second best opener in one dayers after Saeed Anwar . With an average of 45 and SR of 90 plus . That definitely not mediocre . Let’s not confuse him wit the likes of Shehzad, hafeez and Jamshed etc.

I am sure he will bounce back . This break will do him good In my opinion and he will deliver in the World Cup.

Well now it's a case of, poor form, dropped and replacements who have hardly had any recent chances.
 
I hope Pakistan loses all 10 matches in the World Cup

They deserve this when they have different selection criterias for different players!

If they lose all matches then they won't qualify for the semis hence they will be able play only 9 matches.
 
I think he needs a rest and hopefully he is refocused for the World Cup.

What if our current batting line up composed of fakhar, Imam, Babar, rizwan, Agha, Chacha and shadab, Nawaz and Faheem (Keep the bowling trio same for both sides, naseem, Shaheen and haris)

Compete with our 2nd string composed of Abdullah, Saim, saud, Tayyab, Haris, Imad and usama, Ihsanullah, zaman Khan (Same bowling trio of naseem, Shaheen, Haris)

Who do you think wins? I think the 2nd string ironically destroys our 1st string lol.

Imam has a back spasm and Fakhar gets a second life in the Pakistan XI...
 
He is finished and should be dropped. With his abysmal technique, he was never going to have longevity.

He walked off against Kuldeev Yadav when the umpire gave him out in the Asia Cup 2018 tournament even though replays showed he clearly gloved the ball and he had a DRS review available. He similarly chose to walk off against Avesh Khan in the 2022 Asia Cup tournament when the umpire gave him out caught behind and the replays showed he didn't nick the ball and he had a DRS review available. It clearly shows that when the going gets tough Fakhar chickens out mentally and doesn't want to be there.

Apart from the novelty factor in the 2017 CT, he has done zilch for Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup, the 2019 ODI WC, the 2022 Asia Cup.

He has shown zero improvement in his technique, he still struggles on the leg side when the ball is delivered on his ribs, hips, he struggles against the short ball, bouncers, he struggles against the moving ball, he is a very nervous starter against Spin. He still hasn't figured out how to bat on slow two paced wickets.


Do not be fooled by his average of 45-46. It is massively boosted by his 210 against Zimbabwe, 193 vs South Africa and his hundreds against NZ. The guy has gone missing way more than he has delivered.

Being under pressure, struggling for confidence and form in a major tournament is part and parcel of international cricket but all great players have shown the character to rise to the occasion and to put in that one special performance when it really matters for themselves and their team but Fakhar has shown throughout his career that he just doesn't have it.

He has a very meekish looserish body language and should be kept away from the team out of fear of infesting the team with it.

T20 Semi final- 56 not out . Took starc to the cleaners .

Not to forget two centuries in deciding bilateral matches against South Africa and New Zealand.

Think he’s done his fair share for Pak in crunch matches and delivered when it matters .

Ah yes, don’t look at his average because that’s influenced by the only double century in Pakistan cricket history, and a phenomenal innings against South Africa that almost single handedly took them to victory. And let’s also ignore his 180 against Newzealand.

Amazing logic.

Let’s not talk about his other clutch knocks either like the one against Australia in the semi final of t20 World Cup 2021.

People are saying that SL pitches didn't suit his style but even recently he's been awful during match which was played in pakistan too on batting friendly tracks. His form is one thing but he have issue with his technique no way he should be picked ahead of Abdullah/haris/shan

It must be extremely frustrating to see inconsistency from arguably the most dangerous batter in the Pakistan team and i think now Pakistani fans can have a slight idea the frustrations we have felt regarding KL Rahul who when in form is Cricket God level good.

I am still disturbed by some fans, analysts, ex players still calling for his inclusion and for him to be included in the playing eleven under the pretext that Fakhar is still the only player capable of playing modern cricket in the team, the only real exclusive match winner who on his day can singlehandedly win the match for the country.

The man has been in horrible form for a long time and is badly struggling for confidence. He has a history of becoming a total mental midget and giving up vs the opposition when not on song. Carrying such a player undeservedly is bad for team morale and gives a bad message to the others that of you are in the captains, managements good books there will be one rule for you and another for someone else.

I wont say a long time- Was only this year he scored 3 100s in a row and won ICC player of the month.

Yes his last 10 innings have been poor but lets not make things sound worse than they already are.

Those hundreds came against the C, D team of New Zealand and on his home pitches. ICC awards mean nothing when Pakistan frequently plays their A side vs minnows and the C, D teams of England, Australia, New Zealand.

In his last 10 innings he is averaging 19 and his SR is 65. He is a complete mental midget right now. There is no way this mediocrity would have been tolerated by the likes of Australia, England, India. Even in India, a batsman fails in 3 innings, he gets replaced by someone else on the bench.

We need to hold our players accountable.

The think-tank have put all their eggs in the Fakhar/Imam opening basket.

When you've not tried alternatives then you are only left with Plan A, unless you want to go into a World Cup with untried options and take big risks.

Lol Fakhar himself would happily accept being dropped from the team right now. It is you who needs to quit advocating for the mental midget in his present form.
 
Another day, another failure by Fakhar. He has a great record and on his day, he is a match winner

Batting woes aside, his fielding has been on point for majority of his career (Minus Ind in AC). He consistently saves multiple boundaries in the outfield with his quick running makes sure that we stop as many doubles as possible. His throws are also quite accurate and powerful.

Shan Masood is way better than Fakhar as a batter.

If Shan had been given as many opportunities, he would have been much further ahead than Fakhar today.
 
Shan possibly would have scored more runs but unlikely to have impactful match winning innings that Fakhar has achieved.

Lol, like you'd ever say this to his face.

The last thing Fakhar can be described as is timid. Guy clears boundaries like it's nothing, has served in the navy and is a gun fielder. You couldn't achieve any of this if you tried.

We know he's a confidence player, so your suggestion that we give him a tongue lashing is the opposite of what anyone with a brain would do.
 
Pakistan is likely to keep the same line-up for Tuesday's match, handing a lifeline to out-of-form opener Fakhar Zaman who scored just 12 against the Netherlands.

I am not worried about his form, he is a good player and is just one innings away from a big score, said Arthur of the only Pakistan batsman to have made a double century in ODI cricket.
 
They will play the same xi Fakhar has proberly 2 games left unless he finds form.
