What's new

[VIDEOS] How good is Chris Woakes?

Has to bowl with that new ball . Preferably around 8-10 overs before lunch itself.

Whatever little he can do in Asia will be in that phase.

This guy is the very definition of a home-track bully. And now he's not even that anymore. It amazes me how England were okay pushing out Anderson to 'look to the future', but not him.

He is coming up on the end of a reasonable career. Surprisingly his batting hasn't clicked on these flat wkts this summer.

I still believe Eng should take him just as a squad member to Aus. If wkts are like last year's BGT where ball was swinging as well as seaming then he is a better pick than playing trash spinners like Bashir and he contributes with bat.

He's visibly lost pace. He use to bowl in 140s. In this series, he's in low 130s or late 120s. Batters are finding him easier to negate now.

I don't recall him ever being faster than mid-130s. His strength has always been relying on swing

@Nikhil_cric
No he was medium pace early on in his career. And was dropped in 2014 to add pace which he did. I remember him bowling in 140s starting from Pakistan 2016 series till 2019 wc atleast. Hadn't noticed his pace till this series and was surprised it had gone down now. But that's probably because of age. Pushing Anderson into retirement looks silly in retrospect considering their bowling is lacking a leader and bite.

Woakes has been a pretty ordinary bowler in this series. Not sure about his selection for the next game if Gus is fit.

He was good at this peak. But, he has clearly declined. I can see him retire or getting dropped soon.

He was pretty quick when he came on to the scene.

In the 2016 PAK tour of England , I'm pretty sure he was averaging 140 kph (87 mph) for most of that tour.

Performances against Pakistan need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Even Crawley scored 267 against Pakistan, you take out that score and his stats look even worse.

I wasnt talking about his performance. Just talking about his pace. He was the fastest bowler in that series , except for maybe a couple of spells by Wahab Riaz.
