Superb innings today. Proud of him. Hope this is not a false dawn. It's good to see he accepted his flaws and worked on them, it's a very good attitude.

Another impressive day from him - now needs to get a big hundred - AND his bowling!
Shan is educated in British system, extremely fit & hard working, intelligent, great communicator and at the right age. He should be made PAK Test Captain in next Test series after WC. If he can make ODI side, can be thought of that as well. If PAK is to play a specialist captain, that too a batsman - it has to be Shan.
Remarkable to see what hard work can do. He was only PAK player comfortable against short staff and first time I saw him pulling, while Luke’s of Azhar seems to be forgetting. Also, Shan is born and brought up in Kuwait, schooled there as well, which suggests his certificate age is probably genuine, around 29 now which easily could have been between 23-25 had he been born in PAK & grew up as usual, so I do belive he has at least 7/8 years left in the game at highest level, if not 10-12.
Shan for Test captaincy - the demand starts from today, those who agree, join me.

Will he partner Zaman in next series? He can bowl some medium pace too. Can play Hafeez role for WC in England.
Just over 6 months ago everyone and their mother had written Shan off and convieniently referred to his inclusion in the team as nepotism. Goes to show how you really can’t take the ‘experts’ view on this forum.
The same is happening with Imam right now lol. When imam got the loi call everyone said he’s suited for tests and now the same posters say he’s better in Odis.
What a joke
4) Has a powerful relative within the PCB chain of command therefore will be very hard to remove once made Test Captain.

Some of you have really lost it
Shan Masood as captain. Based on what? One fifty and a forty-odd?)

To be fair Shan has done alright. He has shown a bit of class. He should have scored a 100 though.
The other gem we missed on this tour was Sami Aslam. He could have been our Dean Elgar
He’s just played 1.5 games since his return and he can become captain in all formats. Not bad.
I doubt he intentionally does anything wrong, but Shan is a smart guy, how can explain the discrepancy between the amount of chances he gets he has gotten at Intl Cricket ( and still being in the big picture) desptie having relatively average domestic performances and worse Intl performances.
Cold hard facts : Shan averages 34 in FC cricket, even the season that many hear lauded prior to his selection, he only averaged around 43 in , which is the below the career average of others.
Now people can rightfully say that we shouldnt pay to much attention to averages, okay lets look at intl performances, 9 tests at an average of 24, where he looked utterly out of dept against anderson in UAE, let alone anderson in Eng. I felt sorry for him, it was though to watch
Also before people point to his list A average, look at the strike rate of of 72
There are better options that dont even get a look in at the camps, we have to ask ourselves why
Do you actually think he will do a good job? Will the PCB make him captain?
I wouldn’t jump on the bandwagon until he makes the team on merit.
Check Page 1 of the thread to see what it takes to change opinion these days.

Just a few days back he was a nepotistic selectionShan is the best cricketer in Pakistan at the moment.![]()
I think we need to take a step back and examine why Masood should attain the Test captaincy before any other candidate.
Before the sour taste left in our mouths from Sarfraz’s stint, Masood was deemed as an appointment of nepotism.
However, two decent knocks and fluke wickets in SA will not change the fact that he has a mediocore FC record behind him.
His posh-style will not suit well with a lockeroom of individuals who have attained the perfect balance between a seniority-fetish and lackadaisical youth.
They are immature, inadequate, and unfit to be able to respond to the astuteness that a simple individual such as Masood will require.
But the writing is on the wall because Mickey Arthur’s prayers have been answered and Masood has appeared as a Godsend.
He can perform the following under Mickey Arthur...
1) Communicate on a higher level due to speaking English.
2) Be meek enough to not want to butt heads with Mickey but understanding enough to incorporate his instructions.
3) Become a puppet-captain; essentially the Wilhelm II to Mickey’s Bismarck. A reversal of the Kohli-Shastri dynamic.
4) Has a powerful relative within the PCB chain of command therefore will be very hard to remove once made Test Captain.
5) Scores runs while taking wickets and operating at a pristine level of fitness after listening intensively to the coaching staff? Every coach’s wet dream.
Officially a Shani fan!
Join the petition then ....
Shan Masood has played nicely but would be good if he can make it count and come up with a big score.
The embarrassing situation right now with Pakistan’s batting is that Shan could score 30 here and a couple of fluent 20s in the next test and he would probably still be Pakistan’s best batsman on this tour and we could be boasting about his great performances in South Africa in test cricket for years to come....

Wow, I didn't know Shan averages 56.52 in List A cricket.
That's about as good as it gets.
Missed a golden opp to get a top score
