What's new

[VIDEOS] "I needed to prove my form and my fitness and I did that" : Hassan Ali

Hassan proving too expensive at the moment in the T20 World Cup

Had a serious injury which has rendered him a trundler. Is what it is and he's probably cost his team today.

Even more shocking that Dahani is not in the 11

Issue is even if they try wasim now, you can’t judge him off Minnows.

Going forward they can’t rely on Hasan bowing 4 overs. Babar messed up by not bowing Hafeez today

Hasan hasn't had a good WT20 so far, especially in this game. However, you can't just drop the dude willy nilly. He's still a quality strike-bowler in t20s and can still provide lusty blows with the bat. If Pakistan win today, which would fully book a semi final spot, I'd drop Hasan for the next game just to reset and then come back for the final game as warmup for the semi final. If Hasan's replacement (Dahani most probably) does wonders then that would be a bit of a dilemma. At the same time, people need to realize that dropping Hasan and expecting his replacement to perform is a bit much considering this is a world tournament, granted the next games are Scotland and Namibia but still.

3 strikes for hassan.

Hard to keep him for the next game but i do think they will retain him to gain some form against the two weaker teams we are playing next.

Lacking that zip and not getting his length right so far at the T20 World Cup.

Not been at his best.

It's easy to dismiss the severity of the injury he suffered. It's almost reckless expecting him to regain even half the impact he had a few years ago but even then he was leaking runs.

Notje just gave a 13 run over to Sri Lanka!!
Drop him immediately

Hassan Ali is yet to play his batting cameo in the tournament. We have forgotten that he is the second best hitter in the late order after Asif Ali.

I think Hassan Ali will do something special with the bat in the semi final IA.

He's been a bit expensive but I wouldn't drop him yet- too hasty.

The side is winning, he adds a bit of hitting power and actually took a couple of big partnership breaking wickets v India.

Give him a couple more games at least to show something.

I would say drop him for the next game for Wasim Jr or, if possible, Dahani. Just so that he fully rejigs himself and gets his mojo back vs Scotland and then be fully prepared mentally for the semi-final.

He's releasing the ball well though, seam up. Maybe the wickets just don't suit him if he's not opening the bowling. I still say he is a big match player, we can't afford to drop him for flavour of the month.

Dahani can't play as he is a reserve, Wasim Jr can.

The idea that dumping a player mid tournament & then re-picking them no matter what a game later will help improve his form, confidence & mindset is unique to Pakistan cricket.

I would not drop him yet. Sure he is leaking runs but he deserves some slack as he has put in some decent performances since his comeback to the Pakistan team.

And his only two replacements in the squad are Wasim Jr & Mohammed Nawaz.

True. It's also unique that Pakistan are sitting at the top of the table in a world tournament with games to spare, so low-key I'd be kinda surprised if they don't make any sort of changes to test their bench. Let's see what happens.

Has no rhythm whatsoever ATM. That's why he keeps overstepping as well.

If Dahani was in the main 15 then it would've been an easy swap. I don't really rate Wasim.

At the moment...Hasan Ali appears as one of the weak links in our bowling..Batsmen can take him apart and change the entire course of the game IMO. I don't know if people were following the SA warm up game,,but he was belted around by Van Dussen, along with Haris Rauf. Although I must say Haris has worked on his bowling and performing bit better and taking wickets too...I wish he regains his form and performs well as we have important games coming against tough teams in Knockouts..

In Warm up he was the worst bowler giving 52 runs in 4 Overs!...and Haris was the second worst..

Somebody should tell him that rather than doing Yes Yes and nodding your head to Philander, he can actually say i am not getting what you are saying.

Shoaib Malik speaking to the press:

"There's nothing wrong if a player is unable to perform in a couple of matches of the tournament and no player can be judged based on that. Hasan is a fighter and will make a comeback with good performances in the tournament,"

He seems out of touch a bit. Definitely the weakest link in Pakistani XI currently.

All eyes on him ahead of the semi-final:

Hasan Ali has bagged the unwanted record for most no-balls bowled in T20 internationals

He bowled his 10th no-ball today!

So happy to see him not perform the generator show-off move. Seems more humble and focused this way.

I'm backing Hasan to come good. He will deliver in the semis insha'Allah.

I think Hasan should be used in middle overs and if hes doing well use him again later ... But if he leaks runs and takes no wicket better have a plan B ready for some other player to bowl the remaining 3 overs of his..

Itd be a good idea to get hafeez in early against the aussies to get an over or two away just in case the poor hasan ali version shows up in the semi

If Hassan Ali is going to play, he can’t be given more than 2 overs. Not sure why they won’t let Hafeez bowl a couple of overs.

I trust Hassan Ali to perform he likes the big stage but Hassan Ali knows he hasnt been at his best.

Hasan Ali won the Test Cricketer of the Year for his 41 wickets in nine Tests, including a 10-for and five, five-fors as well as two player of the match and one player of the series awards.

Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam bagged the ODI Cricketer of the Year award for accumulating 405 runs in six ODIs with two centuries and a half-century.

Hasan Ali: “Test cricket is the pinnacle format of the game and to be adjudged as the Test Cricketer of the Year is a proud moment for me. Last year was sort of a comeback year for me after I had missed international cricket in 2020 due to an injury. I was not only able to make a successful return to international cricket but also played my part in the team’s overall success in 2021.

“Taking 10 wickets against South Africa in Rawalpindi in my second Test in nearly two years and helping Pakistan win the series 2-0 was one of my highlights of the year and a very happy moment that set the stage for the remaining part of the year.”

Speaking to a media outlet:

“I’d prefer their [Australia’s] full strength side to visit so that we also can gauge our strengths and weaknesses in our home conditions,

“So far, I think, the full team is coming, but we can’t say much about it right now.”

“It always makes me happy whenever cricket comes back to Pakistan and PCB is making commendable efforts for it,”

“If this kept up then hopefully Pakistan will play full-fledged cricket at home and I am looking forward to playing against Australia.”

“I’ve liked Test cricket since day one and I don’t feel good when someone labels me as a T20 or one-day player only,”

“I’ve been performing in all three formats. But it’s an honour for me to be named as the Test Cricketer of the Year."

“I play the format with a lot of happiness and my performance speaks for itself. It’s only the longer format that can make you a proper player. It tests your patience, temperament and fitness.”

“My performance is in front of everyone. I was Pakistan’s highest wicket taker in T20s, was second in Tests and also got a five-wicket haul in one-day cricket"

“Ups and downs in performance are inevitable and one series can’t decide a player’s career."

“But the way Babar has backed me — he knows that I can fight for him and win matches for him — this is the change of culture we needed and I think this has been going on since a while now.”

The unstoppable Hassan

Not great for him this PSL 0/43 in 3 overs vs LQ

So far in PSL7:

15-0-179-5

Economy rate of 11.93

Poor numbers.

The guy simply hasn't got a brain-cell to use.

I'm shocked there's no coach/sports psychologist out there to help him. This simply isn't about how to bowl and where to bowl, but seems to have a poor mindset in consistency.

If I'm a captain or coach I'd tell him to fix up or be shipped out.

Awful Theres just no consistency with him, full short both sides of the wkt You cant set a field for him

In more matches than not hes always being taken to the cleaners

Needs dropping and for him to have a good hard think at what hes doing on the pitch

he spends most off his time in india with his wife

He's given another chance today against KK.

Let's see if he comes good.

3/30 for Hassan Ali in an important game

Desperately needs a good series against Australia like he had against SA last year. Has had a pretty abysmal few months with the white ball.

Surprised the golden egg didn’t get picked, why did Pak prefer Naseem over him ?

Pakistan will need him for Karachi BUT only if he is 100% fit.

Hassan Ali should play the second test alongside Shaheen and Fahim and 2 spinners.

Hassan ali has not been match fit for a long time

if you remove this innings thus far and go in reverse time

vs a Poor Bangladesh: 2/37 in December 2021 (3 months ago)
vs a Poor Bangladesh: 7/103 in December 2021 (3 months ago)
vs an OK West Indies: 2/67 in August 2021 (7 months ago)

vs a Poor Zimbabwe: 5/37 in May 2021 (10 months ago)
vs a Poor Zimbabwe: 9/89 in May 2021 (10 months ago)
vs a Good South Africa: 10/114 (12 months ago)

the last time he was bowling at his best was around a year ago. He had a poor T20 WC and has been poor with every decent batsmen he has faced since August of 2021

No way you can call him match fit

Hassan having some fun today on the field - did a little dance to amuse people

Yes the opposition is weak but how can u call 5-37 poor.

Match awareness?

Legend says he still running

He's being trolled on SM for his celebration and rightly so. Why would you even think of celebrating when your team trails by 400+.

This team is full of clowns and it’s embarrassing. I thought watching the Pakistan women’s team was embarrassing but the mens team take the cake.

Are we seeing the demise of Hassan Ali as a cricketer?

Are we seeing the demise of Hassan Ali as a cricketer?

The same thing happened at around the 2019 world cup. Back then Hassan was dropped but impressively forced his way back in with a barnstorming QeA trophy.

The same thing will have to happen again. Hassan needs a breather from international cricket and to go back to the drawing board. If it brings out the best in him once again it'll be ideal.

Hes looked horribly ineffective with bat and ball this series

We cant afford to have players blowing hot and cold for periods on end

Its not acceptable

Are we seeing the demise of Hassan Ali as a cricketer?

After two innings when he clearly isn't a hundred percent? He shouldn't have played any test this series.

We never learn how to manage palter injuries. Even recently we have had Naseem in NZ and now Hassan here. In both cases, there is no rhythm, pace is down and everything just looks wrong. And yet nobody in the management is noticing anything.

Management is there to have fun with the bois , check out Saqlain fun with bois videos...

And yet he is stil picked for the limited overs squad instead of resting him.

clearly just getting picked because he is a mate.

I still cant get over the t20 WC debacle.

Quality player at his best, but he seemed to have rushed back from injuries and its cost him and pakistan a lot

I had to look twice to see if I was reading his Test series against Australia stats correctly:

Bowling average of 96
Batting average of 4.33

Not only should he be sent back to Domestic Cricket. He should also be told that he will not be picked for Pakistan in Test Cricket unless he shows he can occupy the crease for a decent amount of time, can play to the situation and develop a proper defense. Don't think that will do much, he will be happy playing in T-20 Leagues

He was the weakest link in the Pakistan side during this series. Must be dropped now - we have seen the best of him already. He is just too short to be a Test quality fast bowler.
