Maybe because there are other means of entertainment available to people in Karachi as compared to smaller cities which barely has anything, so they get excited to watch a cricket match.
Didn't know that the L.A of Pakistan i.e Karachi had more means of entertainment than small towns like Mumbai, kolkatta, Bangalore, Chennai etc
Did you see the way those hillbillies attend every other match?
I tell you Mustafa bhai should make one Bin Qasim park and one park tower /forum in each of these cities, only then karachi could get rid of so many indian tourists![]()
Actually there are no "Pind" near the Karachi like FSD, otherwise it would have been jammed pack![]()
Some people taking shots at karachi, some lahore, some faislabad and some peshawar.
No wonder Pakistan is going down and out! Just enjoy the bloody tournament rather than being worried about this non-sense.
Seriously some pathetic thinking by some of the posters.
Well, if we leave aside the obvious hate-filled posts on here, there is a valid concern. This is supposedly Pakistan's premier domestic
T20 competition (a form of the game which draws crowds all over the world), and it appears as though there are very few people there to see it.
It's certainly not nonsense or pathetic thinking. There's no point fighting to get international cricket back to Pakistan if we can't back it up with good attendances at the grounds.
Iam sure foreigners preferd security more than crowds, is there enough crowd in uae where they are ready to play.
Also intl games are a differnt thing compare to domestic games!
The first point was about security conditions, Foreign teams are more botherd about Security rather than crowd. The clear example is of UAE, not much of a crowd but secure enough for foreigner to visit.
Now this nullify ya point that we needs crowds in these games for any future intl games.
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Getting international cricket back to Pakistan is supposed to be in the interest of the Pakistani public, as it gives them the opportunity to go and watch their team play. I never said we NEED crowds for international games to take place, clearly that is not true.
But what's the point of international cricket taking place in empty stadiums? It's not enjoyable tow atch on TV and it can't be enjoyable for the players.
If we get similar crowds in the UAE that we get in Pakistan, why not just make UAE our permanent home? Or for that matter, try England again where we will undoubtedly get more people coming to watch the games?
The point is, the public in Pakistan should be making more of an effort to demonstrate their enthusiam and passion for cricket. Clearly there is a problem here that shouldn't be ignored.
Could some of the Karachi PPers perhaps explain why they feel that the turnout was poor today at the NSK despite the free entry?
Maybe because there are other means of entertainment available to people in Karachi as compared to smaller cities which barely has anything, so they get excited to watch a cricket match.
I was going past NSK yesterday with a few friends and not even for a moment we thought we should go and watch a poxy slogfest. We thought we would rather go to atrium to watch a movie and have a meal.
exactly. We can watch cricket anytime. The recently held tournament at moin khan or the ones at rashid latif or asghar ali shah attract good crowds.
OP bechara faisalabad ka roona rahaay gaay but pindh maay kiya chahiyaay.. watching a cricket match may be the epitomy of entertainment there but thankfully not in karachi.. plus we have bloody work to do.. most people here work from 9 to 9.. cricket is the last thing on our minds.. ive not even followed the scores
Just out of interest, which test series are you referring to?
and there we have it..if your that nonchaltant about it why watch cricket at all? I think tournaments like this should go back to the pindh since people at least care..in karachi it seems unless its run by karachiites for karachities its boring and not worth it..after all "yay dhoti naswaar kahan say aye"!!

The Sarcastic Irony Trophy
Ah right, apologies, should've seen that lol!
I agree, attendances in most places in pakistan have been disappointing. But rather than pointing fingers etc, we need to come up with a solution.
Why are you on this forum if you "seriously could not care" about where cricket is played?
This is not a personal attack on you, i'm simply trying to find out why the interest in cricket has fallen so much.
I am a follower of Pakistan team and feel no affection for either of the Karachi team or any other cricket team for that matter.
The last test match I went to was the Sri Lanka one and the crowd was very thin even then . There are multiple reasons like poor facilities like food and drink or toilets plus lack of corporate facilities. The thing is going to cricket in Pakistan is not a day out like in the UK. You have to be a committed fanatic to make that journey
I think if the residents of the city/ province felt assosiated with the city i.e. it was an independently run side with no political interference then along with marketing the fan base could be created..Ok, thanks for the explanation.
I can see two issues based on your post. Firstly, perhaps more needs to be done in terms of creating a fan base for domestic teams. More marketing and publicity to try and promote the local sides. Maybe that will generate more interest in the domestic competition??
The facilities are a major reason for the downfall and its not as if people of Karachi cannot afford to pay 6-700 for a ticket like they do for a movie. The overall product makes a huge difference casein point atrium cinemas who are by far the best in Pakistan and the most expensive in Karachi but are booked well in advance. The free ticket crowd is not condusive eitherSecond of all, and i'm sure most people were already aware of this, the facilities at the stadiums need improving to entice people to come in. Does the PCB need to make it a priority to improve the stadiums? Surely now is a decent time to do this (depending on availability of funds), with no international cricket taking place in Pakistan for the foreseeable future.
Another question for Aampakistani, do you think that more sporting pitches would have an effect on attendances?

This is something i am wondering as well
Karachi is extremely big with the middle to lower income class population is spread to the far corners
I say middle to low income class is because the Upper Middle and Elite Class has tons of Places to go in Karachi as someone mentioned Atrium which the average Karachiite doesnt visit
True ... Karachi should never host such low level and pathetic tournament.
Guys don't turn this thread into a pro and anti Karachi thread.
Stick to the discussion and that is about the lack of crowd for a large part of the tournament.
Better turnout today though which is good to see.
Host this tournament in Manchester or Birmingham or London and I guarantee you great crowds every day.

Guys today will be the day when karachi fans will come up to support Dolphins and our very own Boom Boom Afridi.
Frankly speaking guys karachi life is pathetic, jobs, studies, trafic jams, whole day finishes in it.can't come on every single match.that's why most of the karachiites made the plan to visit Dolphen games. hope we will get the best crowd today
Why was it not held in Faisalabad? They had the best crowd.
pcb should look to host it in the uk as they have the best crowds

There was a considerable presence of Afghan supporters for last nights Rawalpindi vs Cheetahs game. They were louder, more enthusiastic and HAPPY to be at NSK.
By the looks of it - the Afghan supporters dwarfed the local crowd.
Afghans also live in Karachi.
I am truly saddened by the type of comments I read about Karachi not only in this thread but others as well.
EVERY single inch of Pakistan is sacred to me. Every city and its citizens are my brothers and sisters.
This thread and the jealousy on display actually brings tears to my eyes.
Guess Pakistan is not the same anymore. RIP Quaid-e-Azam
unbelievable!, Now the karachi commentators are blaming security personnels from Lahore for low turnout
This constant paranoia and victim mentality is the sole reason for karachi's isolation from the rest of Pakistan!
Even the pictures outside the ground (with not a single person outside ) are not supporting their remarks yet the keep spitting this regional hate![]()
Conspiracy theorists at their best!
When the first tournament was held in Karachi, I think the crowd turnout was great.
It has gone down after that and this year is really bad. Perhaps the last minute switch, marketing, along with all the other mess that is going on has contributed to people just not caring much.
Either way, it is a simple economics principle here. If people are not interested here, move it to some other cities. After a few years, if there is more of demand, hold one in Karachi.
All this could be said and discussed, without taking jabs at the population and making it a political/regional bashing thread.

Seriously Aly what's your problem? you have used Victim Mentality word hundreds of time since you started this thread. And I agree with Legend Killer you are the one who is trying hard to spread regional hate on the basis of language. It was a serious problem in Lahore and Karachi administration did their best to host the tournament in such a short notice. Jealousy at its best.
By the way I am a Proud Punjabi who doesnt have any problem whether this tournament is being held in Karachi or anywhere. It was very good to see Afghan supporters cheering for their team and it could be possible only in Karachi as large number of Afghan population live here. Also even Afghans rejected to play in Lahore because of Dengue fever.
I am very surprised this thread is still alive anyways should have been locked long time ago.
Nice photos @ Free Hit but according to OP National Stadium Karachi is the most darkest and ugliest stadium of the world
