He should play some Pakistan Cup matches and regain his confidence in domestic cricket. Looks mentally and technically shot.
He's been told by PCB not to play in the Pakistan Cup and instead play in the PSL.

And playing PSL will help him learn art of bowling in Tests and ODIs ? Unbelievable from PCB.
Only imaam and naseem he stated injuired cant remember him saying any other

haha indeed.
The importance of the golden goose that is PSL strikes again.
But they’ve also said that he’s injured. If he isn’t playing Pakistan Cup, that means there is credibility to the injury and it’s not just an excuse to drop him
I've asked him if he's injured. He said he's100% fit.

Why isnt he playing pakistan cup then?
Because he's been told by PCB that he cannot/shouldn't play in the tournament.

they can't stop him if he is fit. If they are stopping his development then he should move to another country which will develop him.
Shoaib Akhtar averaged 40 with a strike rate of 70 after his first 13 Tests. Not to say Naseem is Shoaib but that it is far too soon to write Naseem off. The important thing now is to get him training with the right coaches so his technical faults can be sorted. Pakistan’s pace bowling stocks aren’t in a state where one can turn away a kid who can bowl 145+ and get movement off the pitch.
When did he last hit 145+?
Before his runup and action was modified and he was told to focus on line and length.

As Saj has said above, Naseem has himself confirmed that neither his action, nor his run-up, was modified by anyone and he was NOT asked to focus on line and length. People are just making up excuses

Watch his bowling videos in his debut series against Australia and the recent series against New Zealand and then tell me his action and run up haven’t been adjusted. It seems pretty clear to me. Somethings obviously not right when a kid loses 10kph of pace in a year with no major injuries.

Our fans will overhype mediocre players and then act surprised and blame everything in the firing line when the mediocre players do not deliver.
Naseem is a rubbish bowler with no talent and no skills. He has been humiliated in Australia, England and New Zealand. End of story.
He is just a nothing bowler with no ability and a big mouth.
We're getting overboard with 'mentoring'. Naseem is not a baby. He was selected hastily yes, but that was also his opportunity to grab with both hands which he hasn't done.
As much as I dislike the management of Misbah and Waqar, they're not on the field fielding and bowling. An average cricketer can also punch above his weight and show glimpses of any xfactor or scope. Naseem, under bowling friendly conditions has dissappinted. He may, or may not come good in the longer run hut for now he's lost his opportunity.
If Hassan Ali is fit and still interested in playing cricket (a big if) , he is our second best bowler after Shaheen.
This passage will be crucial for Naseem and say a lot about his temperament. He will always be on the selection radar, is still young and we should expect him to put the hard yards in the domestic circuit.Fans have to relax and stop with the criticism and abuse. Yes people have every right to be frustrated with Naseem and he has now rightfully been dropped. Whatever happens to him and his career at this point is up to him
Ishant Sharma after a good start was ordinary for so long but under Bharat Arun and Kohlis captaincy, the guy is averaging 22 in the last 5 years. Some players mature peak later on in their careers as they understand their games better
The concern for me isn't just his pace dramatically falling, but his lack of confidence now.
He looks shot.
In fact he shouldn't be playing any internationals for the foreseeable future. He needs to play club cricket and gain some of what he had at the start of his young career.
I do feel for him tbh. He's been thrown in at the deep end, with no real experience player there to help him manoeuvre international cricket.

Who is mentoring these kids? Aren’t there any local coaches who can enhance/correct their actions off-season?
yes we can't miss another good one due to our liabilitiesCan we send Naseem to a county for a couple of seasons please? He has all the ingredients. He just needs to learn a bit about consistency and discipline. He is a little too erratic at this moment in my opinion. Can't waste another good bowler due to mismanagement.

I don't think this is fair.
Naseem Shah is not 17, but he is probably 19 years old.
It's incredibly rare for a bowler to be the finished article at that age. Waqar Younis supposedly was - but in reality he was about 23 when he went from having previously has Naseem-like figures in Australia to genuinely breaking through at international level.
A fast bowler who has significant flaws can often conceal them if he is very tall. Shaheen Shah Afridi is an example of this.
Naseem Shah is what he is. He has a lovely action, but he is at the absolute rock bottom minimum height for a successful Test career. His short height will mean that he is always at risk of getting battered.
If you want to bed in a very very young pace bowler on SENA tours, you really need him as part of a 4 man pace attack so that if he gets attacked you can protect him. But Misbah ended up extraordinarily reliant upon Naseem Shah because his leg-spinner was bowling 1 maiden every 10 overs and because his fast-medium metronome had become a military medium boredom machine.
I haven't seen Naseem Shah have a big mouth. I have seen a young kid promoted too soon because Misbah refused to negotiate with Mohammad Amir.
Naseem will never make it. He is not good enough. It is up to people to blame Naseem or Misbah or Waqar or whoever is in the firing line.

Seriously man. This is international cricket most people don't make it. Whether he is 17 or 21, the guy has decent raw ingredients. He may or may not make it but for you to say that he definitively will not is a little far fetched and borderline ignorant. In fact you are not too far off from the absolutist Pakistani fans that you mock. Basically you are the inverse of them. Both lack any analytical sense
They probably want to manage his workload.
I have seen what I needed to see, and I don’t see any ingredients. Feel free to call me out if he makes it in the future. I personally don’t see it happening.
What have you seen. Please limit it to technical and skill deficiencies that can not be overcome. Saying things like he has a poor attitude is pointless.
His stock has fallen badly. He is going the Mohd Sami route. I am surprised Quetta picked him given that he hasn't shown good form for ages. Nasim looks ineffective with this shortened run up.
Looks confused and down on confidence.
A huge change from what we saw from him in last year's PSL where he thought he could take a wicket every ball.
It can happen when everyone is trying to advise a young guy about his action and how to bowl.
It is all a learning process for him right now.
It will take a good couple of years until he understands what works for him.
Talk about jumping the gun.
There are 10 different kinds of things going on in his head right now.
He isn't clear headed or trusting himself at the moment.
Give him time.
He has been dropped from the national team. That is good enough for now.He shouldn't have been picked without showing form. He needs a few seasons in domestic cricket to understand his bowling better. Jimmy Anderson had to be dropped due to bad form and made to toil in county cricket before being recalled back 2-3 years later
He was rushed into international cricket too early. He should play first class cricket for another two or three years to improve his game.He needs afew sessions with a good bowling coach preferably from England or Australia.
He isnt concentrating on where the ball goes right now, but rather on his bowling action, which has been tinkered with a number of times now in the last 3 years.
Such a stage comes in most fast bowlers' lives and is extremely tough especially when there is so much spotlight on you.
He needs time away from the spotlight to just bowl and understand his action.
The clueless bunch will be busy calling him names, but they dont matter.
Let their song and dance continue because this guy has enough ability and character to prove them wrong. InshaAllah!

I actually felt he looked in better rhythm today. He bowled 3 deliveries at 147 km/hr plus and was rushing the batsmen, unfortunately he went for runs. What he needs is to bowl in domestic cricket with his new run up, get loads of wickets and confidence before being in the spotlight.
He's 20, bro. There's nothing to worry about. He's gonna learn so much about himself.
I dont really understand what they are making him do now.
Why reduce the runup when it wasn't that long or overstriding anyway?
He was a mixed action bowler with front on upper half and side on lower half in 2018.
They changed it to fully side on and now from what I am hearing from Cork in the commentary box; they are changing his lower half to more "midcrease" or should we say straighter left leg placement.
It isnt clear.Who's making these changes?

Getting a bowling action tinkered the right way is always tricky, but the run up definitely didn't warrant a change.Cork was saying these changes will reduce the stress on his calf and lower back. He has had a stress fracture and his bowling action does look demanding but i wonder if his run up was the issue?

Waqar is the coach right now. Zahid has left. He was working with Mohsin Kamal recently, but most of these changes were seen on the England tour.
Thing is, should we worry about stress and injuries in young players enough to change their actions and bowling?
Cummins had the exact same issue. He had 2 heel injuries, side strain and then two stress fractures of his back. These injuries kept him out for years. Yet they ever changed his avtion or run up and today he is arguably the best bowler in the world
