[VIDEOS] Pakistan to host Champions Trophy 2025

Pak PM likens Kashmiris to Palestinians. and some in Pakistan think that the Indian cricket team will tour Pakistan for Champions Trophy. Ok.
You guys get hung up on these things too much.

What does Modi like the situation in Azad Kashmir to? Do you think he is happy Pakistan is in control of what you guys see as Indian territory?

There are remours that Mohali stadium will host all matches of Indian cricket team for champions trophy 🏆
Won't happen.

This would be an own goal for Indians.

A tournament on equal footing, coordination on logistics etc with a country they don't want any association with would be a massive own goal.

Better to have a tournament solely in Pakistan than a joint Indo-Pak tournament.

Will India play ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan? PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to meet Jay Shah in Dubai

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, was recently elected as the chairman of the ICC. He will also start his tenure on 1st December. The Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan next year will be his first big event. There is still suspense over the Indian team’s visit to Pakistan in this tournament.

Meanwhile, a big update has come out. According to Pakistani media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is going to meet Jay Shah next month during the Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. During this, he is going to demand the ICC to approve the schedule of the Champions Trophy. Along with this, there will also be talks on the participation of the Indian team in the tournament.

Will Jay Shah take the historic move after 16 years?

The Champions Trophy is to be held from 19th February to 9th March. The PCB is pushing to get it held entirely in Pakistan. According to a report by Pakistani website Geo SuperTV, Mohsin Naqvi and Jai Shah may meet in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in Dubai. During this, he is going to try to get the entire tournament held there by convincing India to come to Pakistan. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether Jai Shah is kind to Pakistan or not. Pakistan’s entire preparation depends on his decision.

Team India last visited Pakistan 16 years ago in 2008. There has been no bilateral series between the two countries after 2012-13. According to the PCB schedule, if Team India goes to Pakistan, its base will be in Lahore. Although Pakistan has put forward this proposal on its behalf, Jai Shah’s decision will depend on the Indian government. Players will be able to go to Pakistan only after the permission of the Indian government. BCCI has also said this.

An official announcement may be made in October:

The official announcement of the Champions Trophy schedule by the ICC may be made in October. Meanwhile, the repair of the stadium is going on in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board has also started provisional booking. All the tournament information will be finalized as soon as the green signal is received from ICC Chairman Jay Shah.

If the Indian team goes to Pakistan, then more solid preparations will be needed, which will take time. Therefore, the PCB chairman wants to meet Jay Shah as soon as possible to decide on everything.

ICC delegation inspected:

The ICC delegation recently visited all the venues decided for the Champions Trophy. During this, they inspected the preparations in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. According to Pakistani media, the ICC delegation is satisfied with the facilities and preparations.

Please keep politics separate from cricket thanks

Thats honestly impossible . To some extent politics will always be interwined in sports. Assume if Israel and Pak were in the top 5 soccer teams in the world, would they play each other in their home countries ? A global FIFA WC event at a 3rd party location - yes I would assume so.
Am not saying the Ind Pak situation is exactly similar - but just the nature of geopolitics in sports.

He’s just spitting facts
His comedy would only worsen an already bitter India Pak relation at all levels. There are no takers for his jokes at global level. First he should concentrate on the atrocities being done by PAK ARMY on BALOCHS. ALAS ! he can't as he himself is a puppet of Pak Army....
Even Naqvi would be cursing him for such statements as it only damages any chance of Indian team visiting Pak...It only proves Pak Govt. and Army do not care whether Indian team comes or not. Naqvi is wasting his energy when he has no support from the Govt. backed by Army infact only obstacles created by them.

There are far bigger things to worry about than the Indian team visiting Pakistan. If you think the Pak government has “India coming to Pakistan to play cricket” as a qualifier for how they operate then you’re out to lunch. Besides, according to the numerous official BCCI spokespersons on this forum, there was zero chance India was ever coming to begin with.

Keep in mind that Naqvi is also the Interior Minister so probably knows a lot more about what is happening behind the scenes as compared to any other PCB Chairman.

Personally I think there are some backchannel discussions going on at a very high level. Media on both sides of course are not in the loop due to the sensitive nature of the talks.

That is also why there is no official statement from the Pak Govt nor GOI as negotiations are ongoing. Unlike 2023 Asia Cup.. I am speculating because BCCI has all the leverage but they have not taken a firm stance ever since 2025 CT was announced to be in Pakistan back in 2021

Let’s see how this plays out in the next few months. I think a final decision will be taken by December.

More they delay the decision Better for Pakistan .

If decison not came in next month's then Pakistan will host the champions trophy because in short period of time they can't change the venues due do logistics issues.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla on Monday said that the Indian government will take the call on whether the national team would travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 9.

“No decision has been taken on it. But our policy is that for international tours, we always seek permission from the government. It’s up to the government to decide whether or not our team should go to any country,” Shukla told reporters.

“Whatever the government will decide, we will abide by that,” he said, adding there is no deadline given to the BCCI by ICC to take a call on this matter."

The GOI make a decision now. Don't see whole point in delaying. Just tell ICC if your sending the team or no.

Your confusing Apples & oranges again.

Let me break it down simply for you.

We are discussing the outcome of what happened due to the Asia cup being removed from Pakistan as the consequence proves the indian boards ill intentions towards Pakistan cricket.

Shah doing the action proves what I said is correct.

More valuable than a statement for you to read.

It really isn't that hard to understand.

I 💯 agree that the PCB shouldn't have accepted the hybrid model but that is not the discussion.
Your reply is in the post above (post # 1935) by the PP mod himself - Bald Eagle. Enjoy ! And this time it's straight from the BCCI spokesman directly.

Lots of words but nothing is being said nor worked upon since 2021..

Very disappointing

Agree - don’t think Jaishankar would have come of there was genuine risk to traveling to Pakistan..

Elections are over so doubt politics for BJP is going to be a roadblock.

Not sure, news say last FM visit was almost a decade ago.

Anyway, good signs overall.

One thing I can guarantee.

The crowd roars and cheers will be the highest for Virat Kohli - much more than even Babar Azam or anyone else from the Pak team.

That's a massive positive.

Hopefully, this is a sign India comes for the Champions Trophy.

India media is so cancerous. They call it “while the stadium is being repaired” when the stadiums are clearly being renovated. You can tell the deep seated hatred these guys have for Pakistan. They struggle to even hide it professionally. Bottom dwellers.

During interaction with media at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi:

"I have full hope that the Indian team will come to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year. There have been no indications to suggest that they would postpone or cancel their visit. All teams are expected to participate."

"The Champions Trophy is a big opportunity for Pakistan cricket, and we are looking forward to welcoming teams from all around the world."

The renovation of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is progressing, with several key developments as of October 12, 2024:
  • The basement work of the main building has been successfully completed.
  • The old scoreboard has been removed to make way for a new one.
  • Additional construction equipment has been brought in to accelerate the progress of the project.

The National Bank Cricket Stadium upgrade project is progressing rapidly. Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, visited the National Bank Stadium in Karachi and reviewed the progress of the project.

Chairman Naqvi inspected the ongoing construction work and observed the upgrade project. He directed that the scoreboard screen should be installed at an appropriate height to ensure it does not obstruct the view for cricket fans. To further facilitate the spectators, he instructed that the parking area should be moved closer to the stadium.

Chairman Naqvi emphasized speeding up the work on the upgrade project so that it could be completed on time. Hosting the Champions Trophy is a prestigious event for Pakistan, and Chairman Naqvi stressed the importance of completing the project before the top teams arrive for the tournament. He issued directives to the FWO officials to ensure the timely completion of the project. FWO officials briefed him on the progress of the upgrade project. Adviser Aamir Mir, National Bank Cricket Stadium Manager Arshad Khan, and senior FWO officials were also present on the occasion.

No helmets in construction zone!! Good headshots in photo-OP trump safety :ROFLMAO:

That's pretty bad, India should travel Pak, all the teams have travelled and had a safe stay. People would love to see Indian stars playing in Pakistan.

Champions trophy should go ahead without India if they don’t visit. Invite next in line to replace them.

If it is taken away from Pakistan. Pak should boycott and also not travel to India next year for the T20 World Cup.

Yes go ahead without india and tell ICC that whatever lose occurs ,PCB or You can pay them to ICC . :kp

PCB put up a video on Youtube stating that they have had anything from India to state they want hybrid or are willing yo negotiate it.

So its final, random group games will be played in Pakistan, SF & F will be in Dubai.

its officially PAKEMIRATES CT

The BCCI has communicated with the PCB that due to security concerns, they won't travel to Pakistan for 2025 Champions Trophy. Their desire is to play all their games in Dubai.
And BCCI decison to not send indian team to Pakistan due to security reasons is justified .

I'm glad Naqvi is taking a stand on this hybrid model nonsense. And I hope he continues to do so as the time for this tournament draws near, and the pressure on him to accept it grows. This hybrid model crap should never have been accepted by that clown Zaka Ashraf in the first place. By agreeing to it, he set a bad precedent that the BCCI can use whenever Pakistan is hosting a tournament that includes the Indian team.

At any rate, sometimes cutting your nose off to spite your face is the only solution. And I would rather see the Champions Trophy moved out of Pakistan than see part of it held outside Pakistan.

India aren't travelling to PAK, confirmed now. Telegraph and Cricinfo did report there were hybrid model contingency plans available.

Ball in Pakistan's court now. They should just chuck India out and play with the next best team (West Indies?)

It's time for pcb to act as ppers wish and throw ind out of tournament. Pride is more Important than share from next few years tournament in india.

You will only be able to watch the CT final in Lahore if India fails to make it to the final. If India is in the final, you will be watching the live broadcast from Dubai or Colombo. :klopp
Correct 💯 :kp
Every few weeks, Indian media makes a “bold report” repeating the same claims. No one should give a toss, indian journalism is a stinking pile of garbage. Its well known. 90% of their media is godi media, their news press agency ANI has been known to spread fakes news multiple times. I wouldnt lose sleep over their “bold reports”.

At the end of the day, Pakistan is the official host and that is the only truth. I doubt PCB and the current political establishment will take such a big L of kneeling before the “supposed” demands of BCCI. Not going to happen.

ICC also is not in a position to ask PCB to do any such thing because Pakistan will not come to India ever again.

Cricket is game played by only 8 countries mainly. Too high of a risk.

Heres the official word so far:

ICC team has visited Pakistan, did their checks and have greenlighted every thing. BCCI has not made any official statement and actually have signed the MPA implying their yes to participation in CT 2025 in PK. Rest is just indian media noise.
Bro always in denials mode.
