[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Bloodshed in the land of Palestine - 2023 Edition

The letter has gone viral so western media ran to remove it. lol. His points regarding Israel and Palestine was too much for MSM.

A decent debate.

However Hijab should point to the occupation. According to Int law an occupying power has NO right to self defence.

As for Hamas, they were born occupied. If they commit some atrocities its murder but again an occupied people cannot be terrorists as they have a right to self defence and resist inc with arms.

This so called Rabi is as extremist as one can be.

2.2 million need food assistance as Gaza Strip risks ‘sliding into hunger hell,’ says WFP

Almost the entire population of Gaza risks “sliding into hunger hell” unless fuel deliveries are allowed to resume and there is a rapid increase in food supplies, an official from the UN’s World Food Program warned on Thursday.

It came as the UN said 2.2 million Palestinians in the territory now need food aid to survive. The WFP said that with “winter fast approaching and unsafe and overcrowded shelters that lack clean water, people are facing the immediate possibility of starvation.”

Abeer Etefa, the WFP’s senior regional communications officer for the Middle East and North Africa region, said: “The collapse of food supply chains is a catastrophic turning point in an already very dire situation. Gaza was not an easy place to live in before Oct. 7, and if the situation was better before this conflict, it’s now disastrous.”

The UN should take initiatives to safeguard lives instead of just issuing such reports.

Netanyahu says Israel 'not successful' at minimising Gaza casualties but blames Hamas

Israel's prime minister has said it is trying to minimise civilians casualties in the war in Gaza but has been "not successful", blaming this on Hamas.

In an interview with CBS News, Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas was firing at Palestinians trying to get safety.

Hamas "don't give a hoot about the Palestinians", he said.

More than 11,500 people have been killed in Gaza, Hamas's health ministry says, since Israel went to war after Hamas's deadly attack on 7 October.

Some 1,200 people were killed and about 240 were taken back to Gaza as hostages when Hamas gunmen burst through the border and attacked Israeli communities and military bases.

Several of the missing people have since been confirmed dead, with Hamas blaming Israeli air strikes, although the claim cannot be independently verified.

Mr Netanyahu told the BBC's US partner CBS that Israel would "try to finish the job" of wiping out Hamas in Gaza with minimal civilian casualties.

He said: "That's what we're trying to do: minimal civilian casualties. But unfortunately, we're not successful."

Mr Netanyahu said the Israeli military dropped leaflets urging people to leave certain areas and called civilians on their mobile phones warning them to leave but claimed Hamas was preventing this "at gun point".

"Any civilian death is a tragedy. And we shouldn't have any because we're doing everything we can to get the civilians out of harm's way, while Hamas is doing everything to keep them in harm's way," he said.

He added Hamas had "fired at the safe corridors that we provided for the Palestinians".

Addressing Israel's military raids on Al-Shifa hospital - the biggest medical facility in Gaza - Mr Netanyahu said there were "strong indications" that Israeli hostages were being held there and this was "one of the reasons we entered".

He said there were no hostages at the hospital when forces entered the hospital on Wednesday, claiming: "If there were [hostages], they were taken out."

Israel said it has further intelligence about those being held, but Mr Netanyahu said "the less I say about it, the better".

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of housing a major base underneath Al-Shifa - something which Hamas and hospital authorities have always denied.

Mr Netanyahu did not elaborate on what information Israel had to suggest that hostages had been held at Al-Shifa.

But he said Israel had "concrete evidence" that there were "terrorist chieftains and terrorists" in the hospital who he said had fled as Israel's forces entered.

"Hamas was using the patients in that hospital as a human shield," he said.

Mr Netanyahu said Israel had warned the hospital authorities it was going to enter the facility and to move patients out of the way, adding they were "doing this very gingerly" because they were trying to "do the moral thing".

Israel's military said its soldiers had found the bodies of two hostages - 65-year-old Yehudit Weiss and 19-year-old soldier Noa Marciano - in the vicinity of the hospital.

Israel allows two fuel tankers into Gaza daily

Israel’s war cabinet has allowed the delivery of two tankers of diesel fuel daily to the embattled Gaza Strip, Israeli officials said Friday, as hospitals and aid schemes shut down over energy shortages.

Israel has come under increasing international pressure as the United Nations warned this week its aid work in the war-torn Palestinian territory was grinding to a halt as fuel reserves ran dry.

Erdogan in tense talks in Germany as divisions over Gaza war deepen

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was on a brief and tense visit to Germany amid deep differences between the two NATO allies over the war in Gaza.

Erdogan has called Israel a “terror state” and pointed to its Western allies, including Germany, for supporting the military’s “massacres” in Gaza.

On Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz underlined Israel’s right to defend itself.

“Our solidarity with Israel is not up for discussion,” he said at a joint news conference with Erdogan.

“We don’t owe anything to Israel, so we can speak freely,” Erdogan said, referring to Germany’s responsibilities in the Holocaust and how Berlin can influence its relationship with Israel. “If we were in debt, we could not talk so freely. But those who are in debt cannot talk freely,” he said.

The Turkish leader also lashed out at Israel over its relentless air and ground offensive in Gaza, saying that attacks on children and hospitals had no place in the Jewish holy book.

“Shooting hospitals or killing children does not exist in the Torah, you can’t do it,” Erdogan told reporters.

Ismail Thawabta, the director general of the government media office in Gaza, told reporters on Friday that the total number of Palestinians killed since the war broke out on October 7 has exceeded 12,000, including 5,000 children.

Frosty start

This was Erdogan’s first visit to Germany since 2020, when he attended a conference on Libya in Berlin.

Before the visit, the Turkish leader stepped up his condemnation of the Israeli assault on the besieged Gaza Strip, saying it had “unlimited support” from the West.

He had previously called for Israeli leaders to be tried for war crimes at the International Court of Justice in The Hague and repeated his view – and Turkey’s longstanding position – that Hamas is not a “terrorist organisation” but a political party that won the last Palestinian legislative elections held in 2006.

Since October 7, when Hamas fighters stormed southern Israel killing around 1,200 people, and prompting the Israeli government to retaliate with a devastating air and ground assault on Gaza, the Turkish president has hardened his criticism of Israel.

After the Hamas attack, Scholz travelled to Israel to offer Germany’s support.

This month, Germany announced a complete ban of Hamas activities, as well as those of the German branch of Samidoun, known as the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, claiming it “supports and glorifies” groups including Hamas.

“In our country, anti-Semitism is not permitted in any way,” said Scholz at the news conference.

“I would like to emphasise there are five million Muslims living in Germany and they have a place here,” he added.

Erdogan rebuked suggestions that his attacks on Israel had anti-Semitic undertones.

“For us, there should be no discrimination between Jews, Christians and Muslims in the region. I have fought against anti-Semitism. I am a leader who is leading this fight,” he said.

German authorities have prohibited many pro-Palestinian demonstrations in what they said are efforts to prevent public anti-Semitism and curb disorder.

Uncomfortable partners

The two countries have always been, as characterised by Scholz’s spokesman, “uncomfortable partners”.

Berlin has been a loud critic of Erdogan’s clampdown on domestic dissent while recognising that getting regional power Turkey onside was necessary to tackle thorny issues.

Despite their differences, economic cooperation between the two countries has continued, with bilateral trade reaching a record 51.6 billion euros ($56.2bn) in 2022.

Germany is home to the largest Turkish diaspora abroad. A majority of the Turkish community of three million are supporters of Erdogan.

Erdogan’s stance sparked questions in Germany about the wisdom of hosting the Turkish leader at this time, with the opposition conservatives and even the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP), a member of Scholz’s coalition, urging the chancellor to scrap the invitation.

While much of the news conference was dominated by the Israel-Hamas conflict, the two leaders also spoke about the Russia-Ukraine grain deal, which Turkey helped broker before Russia withdrew from it.

They were set to attempt to find common ground on a migration pact struck in 2016 between the European Union and Turkey to stem arrivals in Europe.

Erdogan linked continuing discussions on that deal, which some European countries would like to revive and amend, to Turkey’s EU accession process, which was been on ice.

He also hoped to win Scholz’s backing to revive talks on modernising Turkey’s customs union with the EU, and liberalise visas for Turkish citizens ahead of upcoming municipal elections where he hopes to win back the country’s largest cities including its capital Ankara and Istanbul.

Turkey has wanted to buy 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, which, according to Turkey’s Ministry of Defence, co-manufacturer Germany has opposed.

Erdogan is all talk, until we see some sort of action. Turkey is supplying Israel with oil coming from Azerbaijan, which accounts for 40% of Israel's yearly oil use. If Turkey were to stop this , it would stop the fight very quickly but wont.

Turkish people are great but the nation is part of Nato.

All Muslim states should cut ties with Israel completely.

It is shocking that some of these states still haven't cut ties with Israel despite the Gaza conflict.

Israel-Hamas war live: 26 reported killed as Israel strikes southern Gaza
  • At least 26 Palestinians, mostly children, killed in an Israeli bombardment of Khan Younis city in south Gaza, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.
  • Israeli forces accused of ransacking al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where thousands of patients, medics and displaced people are trapped.
  • Al-Shifa Hospital administrators say 40 patients, including four premature babies, died since November 11 due to power outages, UN reports.
  • Israel to allow two fuel trucks per day into Gaza to power water, sewage operations. Aid groups say the amount is far from adequate.
  • The health system has collapsed in Gaza, just one element of a wider humanitarian crisis amid fears of disease and starvation.
  • Elon Musk threatens to suspend users from X, previously Twitter, for using pro-Palestinian phrases.
  • At least 12,000 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7. In Israel, the official death toll from Hamas’s attacks stands at about 1,200.

Pro-Palestinian protest organisers have planned a national day of action across the UK - instead of a large march in central London.

The demonstrations will take the form of 100 smaller rallies at various locations around the country.

Around 100 pro-Palestinian demonstrators have been removed from London’s Waterloo station after holding a sit-in protest demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.

The group chanted: “Free, free Palestine”; “Sit down, join us”; and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” as they protested in the centre of the station.

Police officers surrounded the protesters before they were escorted from the station, with at least two demonstrators carried from the scene.

The British Transport Police (BTP) said at least five protesters were arrested at Waterloo station and no train services were affected.

Israel-Hamas war live: ‘Death zone’ – WHO says of al-Shifa Hospital

Israel hopeful of Hamas deal to release hostages in 'coming days'

The Israeli ambassador to the US says he is hopeful a deal for the release of a significant number of hostages will be reached "in the coming days".

Michael Herzog told ABC "serious efforts" were being made, but that the fewer details he revealed, "the better the chances of such a deal".

Hamas took an estimated 240 people hostage during their 7 October attacks which killed 1,200 Israelis.

Qatar, which has been mediating, also says a deal is within reach.

The Washington Post newspaper has reported that Israel and Hamas are "close to agreement on a US-brokered deal that would free dozens of women and children held hostage in Gaza in exchange for a five-day pause in fighting", citing "people familiar with the emerging terms".

Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said on Sunday that only "very minor" practical and logistical obstacles remain, adding that "we are close enough to reach a deal".

The US has not confirmed any details of progress.

White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson posted on X: "We have not reached a deal yet, but we continue to work hard to get to a deal."

And Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out a full ceasefire.

Qatar has been playing a leading role in mediation efforts to secure the release of hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.

It was involved in the negotiations that have seen four people freed so far - a mother and daughter, who are US nationals, and two elderly Israeli women.

The small, gas-rich Arab Gulf state is home to the political leadership of Hamas, which has had an office in the capital, Doha, since 2012, headed by its leader Ismail Haniyeh.

On Saturday, protesters calling on the Israeli government to prioritise securing the release of hostages walked from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem before holding a demonstration outside Mr Netanyahu's residence.

Mr Netanyahu has been criticised for not doing more to free those held by Hamas.

In a press conference on Saturday night, he said the first goal of the war was to destroy Hamas, the second was to return the hostages and the third was to eliminate the threat from Gaza.

"We want answers," said protester Ari Levi, who had two family members - including his 12-year-old son - taken by Hamas from kibbutz Nir Oz on 7 October.

"It's not normal to have children kidnapped for 43 days. We don't know what the government is doing, we don't have any information," Mr Levi told the AFP news agency.

"I want the government to bring them home to us," said Dvora Cohen, 43, whose brother-in-law and 12-year-old nephew are both believed to be held by Hamas.

This week Israel's military said it had found the bodies of two hostages - 65-year-old Yehudit Weiss and 19-year-old soldier Noa Marciano - in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has launched a massive retaliatory operation - involving air and artillery strikes as well as ground troops - with the aim of eliminating Hamas.

The Hamas-run health ministry says the death toll in Gaza since then has reached 12,300. More than 2,000 more are feared to be buried under rubble.

Hopefully, this deal will stop the killings and suffering of the innocent people that is now going on for several weeks.

The Israeli air and ground attack continued as the death toll has crossed 13,000 including at least 5,500 children in Gaza since October 7.

The civilian death toll in Gaza was “staggering and unacceptable”, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Sunday, again appealing for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Moreover, the Committee to Protect Journalists says 37 of those killed were Palestinian, four were Israeli, and one was Lebanese.

It added that nine journalists have been injured, three are reported missing, while 13 have been arrested since the Gaza war began.

Gaza hospital official rejects Israel tunnel claim

  • At least eight people killed following direct Israeli strikes on northern Gaza’s Indonesian Hospital.
  • Mounir el-Boursh, the Gaza health ministry director, has dismissed Israel’s claim that it had found a Hamas tunnel at the al-Shifa Hospital, describing it as a “pure lie”.
  • Israel has continued its deadly strikes on Gaza, targeting several areas in the enclave, including the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital. More than 13,000 people have now been killed since the bombardment began on October 7. In Israel, the official death toll in Hamas’s attacks stands at about 1,200.
  • The Committee to Protect Journalists has said 48 journalists and media workers have been killed since the start of the conflict; 43 of those killed were Palestinians, four were Israelis and one was Lebanese.
  • Yemen’s Houthi rebels have seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship in the Red Sea and taken two dozen crew members hostage, raising fears of a wider escalation.
  • The World Health Organization has said it evacuated 31 prematurely born babies from al-Shifa Hospital to the European and Nasser hospitals in the south of Gaza. More than 200 patients are still stuck at the hospital.

Stopping conflict is not enough. Israel need to be held accountable.

Over 13,000 Palestinians died.
Hamas thought that the conflict would spark a world war III. They hoped that all Arab nations and Muslim nations in the world would unite and fight Israel. But their plans backfired. No one is daring to help them let alone go to war for Hamas.

This whole situation is all because of Hamas and their brainless attack on Israel. Not even Iran is stepping up for Hamas.

Who will hold Israel accountable? Hamas? Iran? Turkey? All of these 3 are a joke and no one takes them seriously.

May be Bangladesh can flex its muscles and show Israel who the real boss is.

Not sure why you are bringing in Bangladesh here. This is an Israel vs Muslim battle. May Bangladesh never recognize Israel.

Turkey can defeat Israel one on one (if there is no interference from USA).

Either way, Palestine will one day be free by the will of God.

Protesting in Europe and US is pointless. They are thousands of miles away from the actual conflict.

What actually will help innocent Palestinians is either Military assistance or Political assistance. They are getting none of it and will never get it.

I believe vast majority of the people/countries do not support Israel. They know what's happening in Gaza is pretty much an evil genocide.

Israel seems to be using Hamas as an excuse to take over Gaza. Just like America's WMD lies in Iraq.

Yes, its all about cleansing the land so they can take over , as part of their Greater Israel messianic plan.

Zionists own many goverments but mostly the US, EU. They know they have have the biggest military support in history but this can never overtake the heart of the resistance.

I cant post videos on here but the IDF are getting a beating, one IDF invader stated its like fighting Ghosts!

A war victory is based on their stated war aims , which here is to fully eliminate Hamas as an organistion. They lost before they started as this is impossible. Hamas will now have more recruits than ever!

In terms of Hamas fighters v IDF. Nearly 100 tanks have been put out of order and nearly the same amount of IDF eliminated. We dont know the numbers of Hamas fighters killed. More IDF would have been eliminated but they are sending in tanks with the infantry nowhere to been seen atm.

There are reports IDF is retreating in some areas of Norther Gaza now, as they are unable to locate the resistance who are attacking them in guerilla warfare tactics.

Biden says he believes Gaza hostage release deal near

WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden said on Monday he believes a deal is near to secure the release of some of the hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza, telling reporters "I believe so" when asked at the White House about a possible agreement.

Reuters reported last week that Qatari mediators had been seeking a deal between Israel and Hamas to exchange 50 hostages in return for a three-day ceasefire that would help boost emergency aid shipments to Gaza civilians, citing an official briefed on the talks.

About 240 hostages were taken during Hamas's deadly cross-border rampage into Israel on Oct. 7, which prompted Israel to invade the tiny Palestinian territory to wipe out the Islamist militant group.

About 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed in the Hamas assault, according to Israeli tallies, the deadliest day in Israel's 75-year-old history.

Since then, Gaza's Hamas-run government said at least 13,000 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 5,500 children, by unrelenting Israeli bombardment.

If Biden is giving such statements then the deal should be near. Hopefully, this deal will put an end to this fight.

He has been saying this for a couple of weeks now.

Hamas has offered 3 DEALS for releasing hostages, ALL REFUSED by Netanyahu.

They dont want the hostages, this was always nonsense, they want the land... Gods chosen people of course.

Hamas leader Haniyeh says ‘we are close to reaching a truce agreement’

The chief of Hamas told Reuters on Tuesday that the Palestinian militant group was near a truce agreement with Israel.

Hamas officials are “close to reaching a truce agreement” with Israel and the group has delivered its response to Qatari mediators, Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement sent to Reuters by his aide.

US President Joe Biden said on Monday he believed an accord was near. “We’re closer now than we’ve been before,” White House spokesman John Kirby said of an agreement aimed at securing the release of some hostages held in Gaza and a pause in the fighting that would allow much needed aid into Gaza.

Two sources familiar with the truce talks have told AFP a tentative deal includes a five-day truce, comprised of a ceasefire on the ground and limits to Israeli air operations over southern Gaza.

In return, between 50 and 100 prisoners held by Hamas and Islamic Jihad – a separate Palestinian militant group – would be released.

They would include Israeli civilians and captives of other nationalities, but no military personnel.

If Israel wants to take over Gaza, they would have never given Gaza to Palestinians in the first place. Israel even offered Gaza to Egypt and Westbank to Jordan. But neither wanted it.
The only reason why Israel wants to take over Gaza now is to neutralize Hamas. On Oct 7, Hamas attacked a country, killed its citizens and did atrocities to a sovereign nation. No country would sit idle when an army of foreigners attack them with no rules.

If Hamas really cared about Palestinians, they would surrender right away. But they do not care about common civilians. Their evil masters are sitting in Qatar and Iran and even in West in their comfy chairs shouting war cries.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says war against Hamas will not stop after cease-fire

JERUSALEM — Israel and Hamas on Tuesday appeared close to a deal to temporarily halt their devastating six-week war for dozens of hostages being held in the Gaza Strip to be freed in exchange for Palestinians in Israeli prisons.

But as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his Cabinet for a vote, he vowed to resume the Israeli offensive against Hamas as soon as the truce ends.

“We are at war, and we will continue the war,” he said. “We will continue until we achieve all our goals.”

The Israeli Cabinet was expected to vote on a plan that would halt Israel’s offensive in Gaza for several days in exchange for the release of about 50 of the 240 hostages held by Hamas. Israel has vowed to continue the war until it destroys Hamas’ military capabilities and returns all hostages.

Hamas predicted a Qatari-mediated deal could be reached in “the coming hours.”

Netanyahu acknowledged that the Cabinet faced a tough decision, but supporting the cease-fire was the right thing to do. Netanyahu appeared to have enough support to pass the measure, despite opposition from some hard-line ministers.

Netanyahu said that during the lull, intelligence efforts will be maintained, allowing the army to prepare for the next stages of battle. He said the battle would continue until “Gaza will not threaten Israel.”

The announcement came as Israeli troops battled Palestinian militants in an urban refugee camp in northern Gaza and around hospitals overcrowded with patients and sheltering families.

Details of the expected cease-fire deal were not released. Israeli media reported that an agreement would include a five-day halt in Israel’s offensive in Gaza and the release of 50 hostages held by Hamas in exchange for some 150 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Israel’s Channel 12 TV said the first releases would take place Thursday or Friday and continue for several days.

Talks have repeatedly stalled. But even if a deal is reached, it would not mean an end to the war, which erupted on Oct. 7 after Hamas militants stormed across the border into southern Israel and killed at least 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and kidnapped some 240 others.

In weeks of Israeli airstrikes and a ground invasion, more than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed, two-thirds of them women and minors, and more than 2,700 others are missing and believed to be buried under rubble, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry says it has been unable to update its count since Nov. 11 because of the health sector’s collapse.

Gaza health officials say the toll has risen sharply since, and hospitals continue to report deaths from daily strikes, often dozens at a time.

The Health Ministry in the West Bank last reported a toll of 13,300 but stopped providing its own count Tuesday without giving a reason. Because of that, and because officials there declined to explain in detail how they tracked deaths after Nov. 11, the AP decided to stop reporting its count.

The Health Ministry toll does not differentiate between civilians and combatants. Israel says it has killed thousands of Hamas militants but has not provided evidence for its count.

In southern Lebanon, an Israeli strike killed two journalists with Al-Mayadeen TV, according to the Hezbollah-allied Pan-Arab network and Lebanese officials. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military. A separate Israeli drone strike in Lebanon killed four Hamas members, a Palestinian official and a Lebanon security official said.

It seems that if we're going to see a ceasefire, it would be temporary. There should be a permanent solution to this issue as people in Gaza have been suffering for several years now.

Israel have officially lost 66 soldiers in Gaza so far (reference: https://www.timesofisrael.com/sever...d-offensive-were-the-result-of-friendly-fire/). Real number is possibly higher than that.

Yes the real number is far higher, in the hundreds imo. But at present its mostly tanks, armoured vehicles, there are many videos of them and recordings of them saying this.

Meanwhile, more talk from the Saudis. They need to do some action, stop the oil, gas or other practical measures. If the west goes into an economic disaster, as gas and oil is already high, the people here are not Palestinians or Africans, they cant live without money, food, tv, toaster, booze and fags.

Israel and Hamas agree on 4-day truce, agree on release of some hostages and Palestinian prisoners

Israel’s government and Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a four-day truce to allow the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza in exchange for 150 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.

Qatar, which has been mediating secret negotiations, said the starting time of the truce would be announced within the next 24 hours. In a statement, it called the agreement a “humanitarian pause”.

A statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said 50 women and children will be released over four days, during which there will be a pause in fighting.

For every additional 10 hostages released, the pause would be extended by another day, it said, without mentioning the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange.

“Israel’s government is committed to returning all the hostages home. Tonight, it approved the proposed deal as a first stage to achieving this goal,” said the statement, released after hours of deliberation that were closed to the press.

Hamas said the 50 hostages would be released in exchange for 150 Palestinian women and children who are held in Israeli jails. “The truce deal will also allow hundreds of trucks of humanitarian, medical and fuel aid to enter Gaza,” the Palestinian group said in a statement.

Israel had committed not to attack or arrest anyone in all parts of Gaza during the truce period, it added.

US President Joe Biden said he welcomed the deal. “Today’s deal should bring home additional American hostages, and I will not stop until they are all released,” he said in a statement.

The accord is the first truce of a conflict in which Israeli bombardments have flattened swathes of Gaza, killed 13,300 civilians in the tiny densely populated enclave and left about two-thirds of its 2.3 million people homeless.

But Netanyahu said Israel’s broader mission was unchanged.

“We are at war and we will continue the war until we achieve all our goals. To destroy Hamas, return all our hostages and ensure that no entity in Gaza can threaten Israel,” he said in a recorded message at the start of the government meeting.

Hamas said in its statement: “As we announce the striking of a truce agreement, we affirm that our fingers remain on the trigger, and our victorious fighters will remain on the lookout to defend our people and defeat the occupation.”

These temporary cease-fires are good for the people of both sides but we really need a long-term solution for this conflict. How long will it take before a world sees another world war starting?

Pope Francis on Wednesday met separately with Israeli relatives of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinians with family in Gaza and said the conflict had gone beyond war to become "terrorism".

Speaking in unscripted remarks at his Wednesday general audience in St. Peter's Square shortly after the early morning meetings in his residence, Francis said he heard directly how "both sides are suffering" in the conflict.

"This is what wars do. But here we have gone beyond wars. This is not war. This is terrorism," he said.

He asked for prayers so that both sides would "not go ahead with passions, which in the end, kill everyone".

Both groups were holding separate news conferences later on Wednesday.

The meetings and the pope's comments came hours after Israel's government and Hamas agreed to silence the guns in Gaza for at least four days, allow in aid and release at least 50 hostages captured by militants in exchange for at least 150 Palestinians jailed in Israel.

If hypocrisy had a face.

Israel has agreed a deal with Hamas for the release of some hostages in Gaza in exchange for a pause in the fighting.

It involves swapping the hostages for Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel.

The Israeli prime minister's office said 50 women and children being held by Hamas would be freed over four days - during which there will be a pause in attacks on Gaza.

Israel said it would stop its offensive for an extra day for every 10 additional hostages released.

Hamas also said it had agreed a four-day pause in hostilities with Israel.

The group said it had agreed to release around 50 women and children hostages in exchange for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails.

It is the most significant diplomatic breakthrough since the conflict began on 7 October.

Key points, according to Israel and Hamas statements:

• 50 Israeli women and children to be released over four days, during which there will be a pause in fighting
• For every additional 10 hostages released there will be another day's pause
• 150 Palestinian women and people under age 19 in Israeli prisons to be freed
• Humanitarian relief, medical and fuel aid to be allowed into all areas of the Gaza Strip
• Aerial surveillance by Israel to stop for four days in the south of the Gaza Strip
• Aerial surveillance by Israel to stop from 10am to 4pm for four days in the north of the Gaza Strip
• During the truce period, Israel is committed not to attack or arrest anyone in all areas of the Gaza Strip

US President Joe Biden welcomed the deal and said it should mean more American citizens being able to come home.

Qatar, which has been mediating negotiations between Israel and Hamas - along with Egypt and the US, confirmed a deal had been agreed.

It said it was committed to "ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions, stop the bloodshed, and protect civilians".

In a statement, the Israeli government said it was "obligated to return home all of the hostages".

"Tonight, the government has approved the outline of the first stage of achieving this goal, according to which at least 50 hostages - women and children - will be released over four days, during which a pause in the fighting will be held," it added.

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron called the deal "a crucial step towards providing relief to the families of the hostages and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza."

So Hamas indeed kidnapped Jewish women and children and held them as hostages.

Gaza belongs to Palestine, how can Israel "give it to them"? It is Israel who is the illegal occupier here, millions of Palestinians were forced out of their own country in order to ship in foreigners from all over the world to steal their land and claim it for their own. You left out that bit.

Gaza was given to Palestinians by Israel after Arabs lost the war to Israel.

According to some Islamophobic Indians, Israel belongs to Jews because they were here 2000 years ago. Funny thing is current Israeli Jews are primarily European Jews; they are not natives to this land. They are Europeans primarily.

But, even if we apply their logic, everyone (including Indians) should leave North America because Native Americans were here first.

It is really pointless to debate with them.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called on all countries during an extraordinary summit of the BRICS group of nations to stop exporting weapons to Israel.

Hahahaha 😂

His regime has killed more Yemeni civilians than Israelis have killed Palestinians. The irony of the pot calling the kettle black! The Saudis continue to kill Yemenis using American and British weapons.

In fact the UN said Yemen remains one of the world's largest humanitarian crises! MBS must've struggled to hold his laughter while reading that 'empty' statement.

Meanwhile, more talk from the Saudis. They need to do some action, stop the oil, gas or other practical measures. If the west goes into an economic disaster, as gas and oil is already high, the people here are not Palestinians or Africans, they cant live without money, food, tv, toaster, booze and fags.

That will be the Saudis shooting at their own two feet. If Saudis stop oil exports they'll simply ruin their market share of a surplus commodity. So not only will the Saudis loose income, the biggest beneficiary of increasing oil prices will be the world's largest oil producer ie. the US, incidentally Israel's biggest supporter.

Right now OPEC+ is trying to hold oil prices steady by curtailing oil production due to stagnating demand, so no, Saudis will never do anything to hurt their oil exports even if it's to their worst enemy. The old days of a middle east oil embargo are gone, oil production is in abundance globally.

So Hamas indeed kidnapped Jewish women and children and held them as hostages.

170 children alone are being held by Israel. They regularly kidnap small kids from 5 years old and abuse them , torture them.

Those taken by Hamas are treated like humans, see the testimonies of those released.

Palestinians were already in Gaza, it was part of Palestine. Forcing out the locals and renaming it Israel to accomodate European occupiers can't change that fact.

Jews also belong to Palestine, they were there historically at the same time as Arabs. Palestine belongs to both peoples, but it doesn't belong to many of the current European settlers and their offspring who forced out the local Palestinians to create a new state which was solely for the Jews.

US doesnt produce enough oil for its domestic needs, it needs imports. It wont be as effective as it was 50 years ago but it will still raise prices at pumps in USA. Along with this, Gas can be embargoed to Europe, its already broke and suffering. Finally Turkey can stop oil directly to Israel. All these together will have a huge impact and their supporters.

Correct. 99% of the Jews in Israel have no historical ties to the holy land, they are mostly European Jews from Germany, Poland and other lands, inc Ukraine, UK, USA.

Even by their own religion, Jews cant return to the holy land until the Messiah returns and the temple is built. So far the temple is nowhere to be seen apart from an old broken wall, which want part of the temple.

Oil trade isn't a switch that can be turned on or off, future contracts are booked months in advance if not years. By the time a Saudi embargo comes into action, other plays will take place. Saudi is just 12-13% of oil production. The world can survive without Saudi oil but the Saudis will not survive without the oil business, that'll be the end of them. The Saudi economy is a one trick pony.

Such an embargo, all that will lead to are two things hurting the Saudis, 1) Demand destruction when oil demand is already stagnating and 2) Lose market share to other players. Such a move doesn't benefit the Saudi economy in anyway irrespectively of how many people Israel kills.

That's understandable, no country will want to ruin it's own economy. Imagine if Pakistan decided to stop exporting to it's biggest market the US, who exactly is it going to hurt.

There's a lot of surplus oil production in the world today. And that's despite sanctions on countries like Iran, Venezuela that have some of the biggest reserves.

It wont ruin Saudi economy as it will be very very short period. They can then raise prices later to compensate.

But again... with Gas embargo to Europe, No oil via Turkey to Israel and this would be huge if implemented in unison.

Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that the war against Palestinian militant group Hamas goes on, despite a deal for a brief ceasefire and the release of some hostages taken in the murderous raid on southern Israel on 7 October .

“The war continues,” said the Israeli prime minister at a press conference now airing live on TV.

“We continue until we have achieved complete victory,” he said.

He has thanked allies for helping negotiate the deal with Hamas for the release of dozens of hostages from Gaza, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

But he said Israel would not stop battling until all hostages are brought out of Gaza.

Israeli and US officials have said a four-day Gaza truce and hostage release will not start until at least Friday, thwarting the hopes of families that some captives would be freed on Thursday.

As the wait continued, Khan Younis in southern Gaza was hit by Israeli airstrikes and artillery in at least two waves early on Thursday, Palestinian media reported.

Tensions also rose on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon early Thursday, after Hezbollah said five fighters, including the son of the head of the militant group’s parliamentary bloc, had been killed.

Israeli national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi indicated the release of at least 50 Israeli and foreign hostages held by Hamas was on track, but would not happen until Friday at the earliest.

“The contacts on the release of our hostages are advancing and continuing constantly,” he said in a statement. “The start of the release will take place according to the original agreement between the sides, and not before Friday."

Despite all the talks of ceasefire starting in the morning, Israel continued to rain bombs overnight. Now this has been postponed by a day, that's if Israel doesn't change its mind.

I don't understand how Hamas will agree to a ceasefire and face the Palestinians after losing half their land. A priority must be for Palestinian refugees stuck in the south to return back to the north. Otherwise at the end of this Hamas will have little to show for the attacks apart from a hundred odd captives, which by now is clear that the a Israeli government isn't bothered about.

War rages on in Gaza as truce delayed until at least Friday

GAZA/JERUSALEM, Nov 23 (Reuters) - War raged on in Gaza on Thursday, as a proposed truce and release of hostages was delayed for at least another day.

More than a day after plans were unveiled for the conflict's first ceasefire, the anticipated announcement of the official start time had yet to materialise. Israel said it would not begin at least until Friday.

Clouds of smoke could be seen billowing above northern Gaza's war zone from across the fence in Israel as daylight broke over the Gaza Strip, accompanied by the sounds of heavy gunfire and booming explosions.

In Rafah on the strip's southern edge where hundreds of thousands have sought shelter, residents combed with their bare hands through the ruins of a house smashed in a giant crater. A grey-bearded man wailed in sorrow, lying among shattered masonry while another man lay his hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

The Israeli military said it had launched 300 air strikes in the past day.

"The negotiations on the release of our hostages are advancing and continuing constantly," Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi said in a statement overnight. "The start of the release will take place according to the original agreement between the sides, and not before Friday."

The first pause in the seven-week-old war is meant to be accompanied by the release of 50 women and children hostages captured by militants who raided Israel on Oct. 7, in exchange for 150 Palestinian detainees from Israeli jails.

Israel has said the truce could last beyond the initial four days as long as the militants free at least 10 hostages per day. A Palestinian source has said a second wave of releases could see as many as 100 hostages go free by month's end.

Both sides have said they will go back to fighting once the truce is over.

"We are not ending the war. We will continue until we are victorious," the chief of the Israeli general staff, Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi, told commanders in a video released by the military on Thursday.

Israel launched its war in Gaza after gunmen from Hamas burst across the border fence, killing 1,200 people and seizing about 240 hostages, according to Israeli tallies. Since then, more than 14,000 Gazans have been killed by Israeli bombardment, around 40% of them children, according to health authorities in the Hamas-ruled territory.

'WE NEED TO KNOW IF THEY ARE ALIVE'
The delay to the start of the truce meant another day of worry for Israeli relatives who say they still know nothing about the fate of hostages, and of fear for Palestinian families trapped inside the Gaza combat zone.

No one seems to have a clear idea, when and how this war is going to end.

Hamas can end this tomorrow if they give up the captives, which will stop this justification of hunting them that Bibi tells the Israeli public. But then what explanation will Hamas give the Palestinian public who have lost so so much, loved ones, property, land..... literally everything they have been living for. You conducted an operation and kidnapped them for what exactly? This is the Hamas is stuck in, they have no answer.

Israel wants to continue with this irrespective of the casualties, they do not want a ceasefire. They would've never dreamt of taking over half of Gaza and turning a city into rubble with such little opposition.

I think Israel is looking to take over Gaza. Hamas is just an excuse.

After Gaza, they may do the same in West Bank.

That's what it seems like.

Israeli PM has already said it. They will take control of Gaza.

The Zionist war aim is to eliminate Hamas, they dont care about the hostages. IDF gunned down hundreds on Oct 7th and refused hostage exchange 3 times before this deal. Hamas is exchanging the hostages for 3 x the hostages in Israeli jail cells and you ask what for?

Its a fair point.

10,000 kids have been killed for the exchange of hostages.

It seems too high a price to pay.

Ok, so be it.

So who exactly are these 'occupied' here, because let's not pool Hamas leadership and Palestinians in the same boat and distribute the pity. Mashal, Haniyeh and rest of the leadership cohorts are very very wealthy and lead cocooned lives in Qatar and some in Turkey. Are these your occupied? They called the shots but aren't the ones paying the price.

What exactly was Hamas's objective here and how exactly did they prepare the people of Gaza fron Israel's counter offensive. As thick as Hamas is, I'm sure they weren't stupid enough forget Israel will bite back?

Hamas members are those who grew up in an open prison or a concertation camp. The leadership was voted for in a free and fair election back in 2004, as witnessed by an Ex US President. They have to live aboard as they did to an former disabled Hamas leader who physically was no threat. Its not upto you to tell the Palestinians who is the occupied and who can resist. They are backed by every Int and moral law.

The aim has always been the same, freedom.

But let me ask, if anyone come to your house to kick you and your family out, would you smile and walk off to a refugee camp?

Hamas is backed by what international law? Exactly what freedom winning idea did they execute?

In fact if you told me that Hamas was an Israeli proxy willing them on to take over Gaza, I'd believe that argument. Hamas gave them a reason and broadcast it all over the world. Wasn't Hamas Nethenyahu's pet project? Didn't Hamas leadership serve reduced sentences and be released by the IDF to become political activists.

It'd be interesting to see how much more 'freedom' Hamas are able to gain in the form the occupiers by resorting to more stupid acts.

Qatar says 13 hostages to be released, after Israel-Hamas truce starts at 7am on Friday

Qatar's foreign ministry says that 13 women and children held hostage by Hamas in Gaza will be handed over to the Red Cross.

A four-day cease-fire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas will begin Friday morning, Qatar said, a day later than originally announced, as negotiators worked out final details of the deal, which is to lead to the release of dozens of hostages held by militants and Palestinians imprisoned by Israel.

The diplomatic breakthrough promised some relief for the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza who have endured weeks of Israeli bombardment, as well as families in Israel fearful for the fate of their loved ones taken captive during Hamas’ 7 October attack that triggered the war.

The cease-fire was originally set to begin Thursday morning, but it appeared to hit a snag the night before when Israel’s national security adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, announced a one-day delay without providing a reason.

On Thursday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari announced the cease-fire will start at 07:00 local time Friday, which is 05:00 GMT.

First group of hostages to be released
The minister said the two sides had exchanged lists of those to be released, and the first group of 13 women and children held by Hamas would be freed Friday afternoon. He did not say how many Palestinian prisoners would be freed, but officials have said three would be freed for every hostage.

Increased aid for Palestinians will start to enter Gaza “as soon as possible,” al-Ansari said. The hope is that the “momentum” from this deal will lead to an “end to this violence," he told reporters.

Euronews understands that a 9-year-old Irish-Israeli girl, Emily Hand, will be included in the first group of hostages to be released.

All hostages should be freed and the fight should end. Too much damage has already been done.
