[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Is Shaheen Shah Afridi the best fast-bowler in the world right now?

The world will quickly realize when I say Shaheen is the most overrated bowler right now in cricket. Even Ravi Shastri agrees. Acts like Wasim Akram, quality like Jaydev Unadkat. Nothing more than a trundler. He gets cheap wickets nowadays to boost his figures.

Pakistani fans will remain under the delusion that Shaheen is injured and needs more time to rehabilitate. It's been more than 1 year since his injury. Apparently, somehow he still hasn't recovered. God knows what injury it is that allows him to play all matches but doesn't allow him to bowl at 140+kph.

Mitchell Starc, 10 years older than him has had all sorts of injuries (knee, shin, calf, ankle, back stress fracture, metatarsal) throughout his career but he comfortably bowls 145kph regularly. Mohammad Sami maintained a pace of over 140kph throughout his international career but Shaheen cannot because he's 'injured' since July 2022. Great.
One of the most overrated bowlers in Pakistan. Had a good initial 2-3 years (2019-2021) with his one trick pony stuff. Got found out and never worked hard to develop his skills. Another guy in the long list of letting fame get to his head.

Test cricket is the criteria, where legends are built unfortunately SSA chickened out henceforth the regression.

All Great fast bowlers made their names in Test cricket and the reputation enhanced in white ball.

Shaheen Afridi will have to take a leaf out of Zaheer Khan's book. Zaheer was dropped from the Indian team some time in 2006 and fell out of favour with the selectors. Zaheer in an interview mentioned that he felt he was very hard done by and initally looked for soft corners i.e. blaming team politics, Greg Chappel, Selectors but then he won a county stint and he played county cricket for 4-6 months and that stint transformed his career i.e. it was the most relaxing cricketing experience he felt where you played cricket properly as a professional, no cameras, no media, no scrutiny, nothing, you quietly play the game, bowl 15-20 overs an innings, you introspect after every game, quietly work on your craft, skills with the help of good professionals and team mates and repeat.

Zaheer Khan when he came back later into the team was a transformed bowler and he was wrecking through teams at home with the old ball.

Shahid Afridi has enough clout and so does Shaheen where he can benefit from a few county stints.

1 thing for sure... He did not let us miss Haris Rauf with his pathetic bowling... Salute to LQ brothers... Aaqib Bhai zindabad...

Thanks for reminding me of that Zaheer story. You’re right, it absolutely transformed his bowling.

Zaheer Khan before being dropped had issues bowling inswinger. This weakness became even more apparent after another left armer Irfan Pathan came to scene. County stint helped him develop in swing which made him very effective. He also worked hard on reverse swing.

Back in form after regaining full fitness.

He’s looking class apart.

He has to go through proper rehab, he is playing with half fitness. It’s common knowledge within Pakistan cricket circles.

Shaheen and Naseem have messed up their careers by being stubborn.

Looks so soft

Nothing bowling from him. Reminds me of Irfan Pathan. Trundler

Irfan Pathan played crucial roles in us winning a world cup and CT. He was man of the match in the world t20 final, taking 3/16 with his bowling after contributing throughout the tournament. Afridi can only dream of it.

Afridi was player of the tournament of the same final u are talking about.

He than directly won a world t20 in 2009 by playing a match winning innings in the semis and in the finals.

Naseem was highly rated garbage from day 1.

He was the most overhyped player around here. @Mamoon pointed out the flaws in his bowling, but got hate. Eventually he was proven right.

Naseem is what Adam Milne was. Just pace, and thats it. Naseem does get it to swing outside off, but doesnt get any wickets.

Talking about Shaheen Afridi bro. That was the post I was replying to, comparing Shaheen to Irfan

Shaheen is trundler... Simple fact that is harsh for many to accept because he replaced Rizwan as captain so they are doing bhangra over it... people dont care about win or lose. they just wanted riz out and they are happy over that...

Has been finished for 4 years now. Just an average trundler now always on the cusp of getting carted around. Needs to retire. But the talent cupboard is soo dire we have no option but to play this cannon fodder of a bowler. Won’t be surprised if he starts conceding 100+ runs in his allotted 10 overs consistently soon.
