[VIDEOS/ PICTURES] Mohammad Nawaz - A risky pick for Pakistan's spin attack?

If i face Nawaz i would take off stump guard and pretend to back away. I will earn like 10 wides in an over lol IT is too bad some players are not spotting this clearly. Make him bowl straight and thrash him. He has no spin or anything. He just darts into pads.

No just his bowling, saw @Saj analysis of the SA game where he lays into Nawaz for playing a brainless shot and getting out where all he had to do was manoeuvre the tail in order to bat out the 50 overs.

This was criminal as those extra runs by playing out the overs would have put more pressure on SA. Also proves in a team full of mental midgets, he's one of the worst culprits.

There is no one in Pakistan team who knows the art of playing with tailenders, I have seen many times main batsman exposing the tailenders even in test matches. When Shaheen got out, Nawaz was looking for quick 15-20 runs since there were no wickets left but he eventually ended up playing a careless shot like many others. It was next to impossible for Wasim & Harris to survive full 4-5 overs. Nawaz should be blamed for his wicketless bowling in this whole WC which has severely affected team's performance.

I was looking at his ODI bowling stats and it's so obvious that his best performances have come against the weak/weakened sides.

He has struggled against the better sides in ODIs.

At the end of the day Babar wanted him in the squad and has stuck by him, so there is no need Babar yelling at his boy when he bowled a half tracker at the end of the South Africa match.

The Graham hick of pakistan
Domestically tops all rounder charts every year in quaid e azam trophy but looks like a deer in headlights trying to eke out runs wheb hes selected for internationals

This guy is a serial match loser. He cost us against India and Zimbabwe in last year’s T20 World Cup and now he has cost us again. He is a daarpok cricketer who shouldn’t play for Pakistan again. You look at his face and you can tell that he is a deer in the headlights. He is scared of the spotlight. Such daarpok people shouldn’t play for Pakistan again.

Firstly Shadab and Mir are more to blame as they are the proper bowlers but still Nawaz didn't live up to expectations and spin is the main reason why we've been absyml this WC , don't forget we conceded 340+ against SL too.

Infact replace any of Nawaz Shadab or Mir with Zampa or Yadav and Pakistan would have been on 10 points.

PCB should make it public who ignored Abrar and accountability should be held

It's not difficult to check his record, it was pretty obvious that he was a club bowler who could do well on rank turners but that's about it. I always assumed he got picked because he could smack a really long six now and then. These sort of things seem to impress our selectors.

How do players like nawaz and Anwar Ali keep getting selected?

Ik the whole talent thing In Pakistan is lacking but their are a million better choice selections then nawaz and sheddy in our circuit?

I don't think we are going to see Nawaz playing another game in this World Cup and we may not see him in national colors after the World Cup as well, at least in the near future.

If there was scale of mentality with pictures going on each end.

Stokes/Kohli would be the mentality monsters and then South Africa for their choking history way way down the scale and then Nawaz right at the end epitomising the definition of a mental midget. 2016! he made his debut 2016! To think Agha Salman is on the bench. Sigh and I dont even rate him highly

Nawaz has scored a brilliant 72 runs off 36 balls for his team Rawalpindi Region against Abbottabad Region in the ongoing National T20 Cup. His Inning includes five fours and 5 sixes. Superb batting while playing at number 6.

Nawaz is a really productive batter. If PCB grooms him, he can be a very handy middle-order batter.

We desperately need Nawaz to be at his best for the entirety of 2024. Imad Wasim's selfish retirement means we need Nawaz more than ever.

He doesn't need to take wickets, just keep it tight during the middle and let Shadab bowl the attacking lines and lengths. With the bat, he needs to be the same pinch hitter than won us games against India and New Zealand.

Nawaz is a mediocre cricketer who is not cut out for international level.

He defines the term 'Rellu Katta'.

I don't see how we continue to pick him. He isn't good enough in either facet. We're better off choosing a specialist spinner in his spot. We might be lengthening the tail but Nawaz is hardly strengthening it either.

According to my assessment, Nawaz can be a brilliant middle-order batter. He has scored 3063 runs in 56 first-class matches with an average of 36.03. Additionally, his highest score in List A cricket is 187.

Who? Which spinner will be ready to bowl in a world cup within the next 6 months and not be an absolute passenger like Usama Mir was?

He is not capable. He is mentally shot. And out of form. Needs to be played in first class cricket for 12 months minimum to prove himself

Mohammad Nawaz's 72 (36) in the National Cup today. A couple of edges, but overall, looked like quite a commanding knock. I hope it doesn't put him in contention for the T20 WC haha

Good point. However i maintain that Nawaz has been proven not to be the answer any more than Usama is.

Perhaps we go with 4 pacers + Chacha and Shadab depending on form.

To be honest, I’ve always felt a bit bad for Nawaz. It seems he always has to bat/bowl in the hardest situations. Asking spinners to defend on the last over, unless they’re absolutely world class, is always a hard ask. His 72(36) knock was very good today and he seems to be as good in domestic cricket as anyone else is. I hope he works on his bowling and power hitting and works towards getting his spot back in the T20 team.

Mohammad Nawaz has replaced Usama Mir for the 3rd T20 match against New Zealand. How well will he do in Dunedin? Can he do nay better than Usama? I guess he can do well because he can bat a bit as well and is a gun fielder. Let's see.

Incredible, thought we had seen the last of Nawaz but as they say this is Pakistan cricket. He is the poster boy for the new crop of Pak mental midgets.

Him and Shadab are permanent spin All Rounders in T20s.

I guess the team management has seen enough of Mir and they probably are also scared of losing the series or worse losing all matches. Which despite all support to the management and selector Wahab before the series from experts, ex cricketers and fans. They themselves will be first to put pressure for another overhaul in management when they lose all games.

There's no breathing space here when you're involved with the team. Fans expect quick turn around. So damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

Position 7 is a pressure position, so often the difference maker between defeat and victory. You need guys that as well as their skills can handle the pressure and have some composure which sadly Nawaz has none of these attributes.

Nawaz also has not proved his worth recently, he was poor throughout the world cup along with Shadab. I wonder if Pakistan's domestic circuit has no quality spinner to replace such hack?

Zafar Gohar is the only name that comes up really, and he is nowhere near the side. That must be for a reason.

I think Agha may be able to do a job, but also t20 may be too intense for his bowling ability.

Shoaib Malik as a wildcard???

But realistically there are no options, so by default we keep turning to Nawaz.

Mehran Mumtaz is good. He can be our Santner

Why not just play another batsman who can maybe bowl a bit of spin as I think we need strengthen in this department? Do we really need 5 bowlers, its only a T20? No point in going backwards if a better option can't be found.

Cronies with senior and also part of Yazoo group? Hard to differentiate between cricketer and politician

I still don't understand why Nawaz gets selected all the time with such performances. Now, we are replacing the worst player Usama with an even worse one for the 3rd T20.

He got tonked 44/1 today
But he made 28 (15) with the bat.
Unfortunately, that will be enough to secure he next 5 games.

Nawaz is still a better choice if you Usama in the squad to replace. If Shadab comes back, he should play else nawaz is better than usama.

Nawaz has come good with his bat in the 4th T20 I game of the series today against the Kiwis. Smashed 3 back to back sixes of milne in the 19th overs. Let's ee how he performs with the ball now.

There's very little to choose between the three you mention. Would rather have a specialist bowler or batter depending on opposition.

runs he scores in batting mostly get equal when he comes to bowl so what's the point of keeping him as an all rounder? It's better to go with a proper batter or a bowler.

Mohammad Nawaz produced a remarkable spell 2/18 (4 overs) in 5th T20I against New Zealand. He not only maintained economy and applied pressure but also claimed two crucial wickets. Truly outstanding performance. Seems Saeed Ajmal's coaching is working for him.

Good bowling today by nawaz. The pitch was also supporting the bowlers overall but still you have to bowl good line and length to take advantage of the conditions. Well done to him for this spell.

Useless bowler, not a good pitch to judge his ability. I would rather pick Iftikhar as off spin option than Nawaz.

This one good bowling performance will mean that Nawaz has secured his place in the Pakistan team for the foreseeable future. He is still an awful cricketer who shouldn't even be playing club cricket.

I have been very critical but has performed well playing in this series. Crumbles under pressure but remains to be seen if he has improved in this department. His mental collapse against Kohli was a shocker and unforgiveable.

Mohammad Nawaz is batting beautifully atm in his first outing in BPL 2024. Currently batting at 45 off 30 balls against Rangpur Riders.

Helped push his team to a decent score

They were getting 140 max but they have 160

An outstanding all-round performance by Mohammed Nawaz for Khulna Tigers against Rangpur Riders in BPL 2024. He showcased his batting skills with a score of 54 (34) and made a significant impact with the ball, securing 2 wickets for just 13 runs in 2 overs. His performance played a crucial role in Tigers securing a 28-run victory over Riders.

For the Khulna Tigers, Mohammad Nawaz showcased an impressive performance, securing three wickets for just 15 runs in four overs against Durdanto Dhaka during the BPL 2024. It seems to me that Saeed Ajmal has played a significant role in enhancing his bowling skills.

Mohammad Nawaz likes it in Bangladesh. Played another brilliant innings in the match against Fortune Barishal. 4 sixes in his innings of 38*(23) and no 4 in his innings. Good run of form for him in this BPL.

In the absence of Imad. Nawaz must be part of the XI for WT20. He's the best All round finger spinner in the country that is not retired in this format

Yeah -- he's probably the least worst option. Which is really sad to see that our quality has sunk to these levels.

Mohammad Nawaz faced some challenges in the recent BPL 2024 match between Khulna Tigers and Comilla Victorians. With the ball, he conceded 31 runs in 3 overs. In his batting innings, Nawaz played a steady but brief knock, scoring just 7 runs off 13 balls. Unfortunately, Khulna Tigers found themselves in a tough spot at 67/6 in 12.3 overs. It seems that Nawaz's efforts couldn't quite turn the tide, and now the team needs a solid recovery.

SHAN MASOOD EXPECTS MOHAMMAD NAWAZ TO PERFORM BETTER IN THE KARACHI-LEG OF HBL PSL 9

Shan Masood, the captain of the Karachi Kings, has expressed hope that the all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz will perform at his level-best in the upcoming matches of the HBL PSL 9.

Masood, while talking to the media, stated that Nawaz has yet to perform according to his potential but showed faith in the seasoned all-rounder.

“Mohammad Nawaz has not been able to perform according to his abilities and potential, but he has shown glimpses of his talent,” said Shan Masood.

“We are expecting more from him as an all-rounder, and I am hopeful that he will perform at his best in the upcoming matches,” he added.

Upon being asked about the inclusion of young all-rounder Arafat Minhas, the Karachi Kings captain praised the youngster and stated that he would get a chance according to the situation.

“Arafat Minhas is a talented player. We select our playing XI according to the conditions and he will get the chance whenever the team need his service.”

The left-handed batter also acknowledged that he could not perform as per the expectations but expressed optimism that he would do better in the upcoming games.

“I am not satisfied with my performance. I am getting good starts but have not been able to capitalize and perform well despite being set at the wicket,” he said.

“But I am positive that I will perform better in the upcoming games and it will be more beneficial for the team.”

Notably, Karachi Kings have won two out of three matches in the HBL PSL 9 and will face Islamabad United today at their home ground in Karachi.

Nawaz is a busted flush

Wasim Akram and Misbah ul Haq feel that Nawaz has just lost his confidence in his own bowling and thus is unable to perform well. Misbah feels that Nawaz won't get back at his level best until he diminishes his mental block.

enough of this nawaz now has already given lot of chances already, i don't know on what basis Karachi Kings picked him in the platinum pick.

On this day in 1994, left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz was born. He represented Pakistan in 6 Tests, 37 ODIs, and 60 T20Is so far he took 108 wickets and scored 1,027 runs in international cricket.

Happy Birthday to him.

the way shadab is getting smashed in every other match they should have picked nawaz instead

after all he is a match winner of our Kaptaan! lol

No point tbh, especially when you have Imad and Ifthikar that play similar roles with bat and ball.

Honestly, he’d be a decent pick for our test team as an all rounder, but he probably wants to play franchise cricket.

Nawaz has to work hard to get ack into the team. With the likes of Imad Wasim and Abrar+shadab in the squad, it is not going to be easy to find a spot in this team. Until or unless one of these players gets injured or something, it is gonna be pretty difficult.

M. Nawaz in Global T20 Canada 2024 claimed 1/25 in 4 overs against Bangla Tigers Mississauga while playing for Toronto Nationals.
