[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Sahibzada Farhan - First impressions

Apart from one technical glitche , Hafeez has been a terrific player . Mind you he is an all-rounder. There are some players you just know aren't good enough.

Looks incredibly nervous. Also clueless against pace. Not international material from the sample set so far, but I’ll still give him the next game if Fakhar is injured.

I would question all the fans of Pakistan shouting for Farhan for over a year now.
The guy has NO footwork, technically handicap.
Out of so many Farhan fans, how come none saw his technical disability in domestic?

Ahmed Shehzad would've been proud of that knock. Really struggles to rotate the strike.

He looked much better in his first season. Wasn't crouching as much, feet weren't in cement. Just looks awful now, and hasn't really done a lot this season in terms of scores either.

I saw Farhan bat first time and I was surprised he looked totally like A tailender. I was reading from various Pak fans that he is very talented and one for the future. Looks like those fans of Pakistan have zero knowledge about future prospects. To me at the moment Babar is the best batsmen in Pakistan followed by Hafeez and Malik. Rest r hit and miss

Didn't see his 1 off 8 today. How did he do?

I was never convinced with this guy's batting even when he was piling runs in LA cricket. He always seemed to be technically deficient and limited in short making ability to me. There are better openers than him in domestics.

Give him next 2 T20s so that the people who asked for his inclusion keep their mouth shut and then show him the door.

No one is going to develop if we keep dropping them after 1-2 games. The people over here who have never played a game of professional cricket in their lives should rightfully be ignored by the PCB and Mickey Arthur

I am all for giving people a run and with him i would give him a couple of more games. However, he didnt look much again but as we won, give him the remaining games to swim or sink.

On top of that, he looks unsure as to whether to stick or twist.

He needs work to be done with. He clearly can be a big hitter but needs to work on a lot with.

I guess whilst not writing off this lad just yet, this begs the question regarding the standard of domestic batsmen in Pakistan?

It would be unrealistic to expect high quality cricketers to come through domestic cricket in Pakistan right now given the numerous problems in our domestic cricket right now i.e. poor slow low bounce seaming wickets which aid millitary medium pacers and hence the result is we have been developing batsmen who either block or hit out and have no other gear in their batting.

I think it’s pretty clear that he has the same issues as most upcoming Pakistani batsmen ie high dot ball percentages lack of release shots and hardly any footwork It’s just not good enough to be able to strike a big ball Strike rotation is a key area in limited overs cricket and if you don’t have it your not gonna do well over time

I think it’s Time to go back to the drawing board and look at other options for the team

His fans seem to have vanished. A few months ago they were crying foul at Imam ul Haq being picked over this guy but from what I've seen, it was the right decision.

Waiting for the next upcoming batsman to be hyped to the moon.

People just do not realize that 99% of our young batsmen are out of their depth at the international level. The likes of Babar and Imam etc. are exceptions.

A few bad series and they too will be labelled as hype jobs

Yes, but they have shown the capacity to perform at this level. Most others look out of their depth from the onset.

You need to see the technical ability and sense of cricket in a player. If someone posess them but fail to score (like Umar Amin), you can afford to give them time to build confidence. But if the player has no skill, the more matches you give him, more of time you will be wasting.
At first glance, Fakhar did not look good but he performed. Farhan is not performing rarher showing how handicap he is technically.

Must back hard hitters like Shahibzada Farhan, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Aamir Yamin and Co

Looks very limited player and they step up to "A" team level made him look like a Novice and looks like he will be further exposed at highest level as well.

He doesnt have the correct technique and extra pace of international bowlers (I mean above 130kphs) making him jump and dance at the crease instead of standing still as he will do at domestic where bowlers are more like 120kphs. Its just goes to show how weak our domestic set up is that the highest scorer is jumping and dancing at first glance of swing and little extra pace.

He had good domestic stats but lots of people saying that he looks like a tail-ender. Not good to hear as I was excited for him to put on the Pakistan shirt. Let's see how he can do tomorrow if FZ is still injured.

Any one who hits the ball hard must be backed. This is the era for hacks.

Capacity means jack if you actually do go missing 90% of the times. This is the era for hard hitting batsmen, the more players we have like Sharjeel, Fakhar, Shabzada Farhan, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf the better it is for the explosiveness of our batting line up.

Please increase your knowledge of cricket its an era of fast scoring batsmen who are pilling up runs quicker and faster than ever before not hacks averaging 20s.

We don't have high averaging batsmen with quick modern strike rates. Better to invest in players with high strike rates, encourage them to play their natural games and back them to get their averages up.

Footwork is the major problem.

His feet are planted and he doesn't get his head in line of the ball.

He is particularly vulnerable to the outswinger.

If we can spot this so quickly then what are his coaches in domestic cricket doing?

How many more years of watching cricket before you will realise hacks dont average 50? Please post sensible comments.

Well those problems are not exposed in domestic so its difficult to change a batman method if he is scoring runs. Domestic cricket with exception of one or two bowlers most bowl at 120kphs that too on slow and low wickets where his technique looks fine.

The standard of first class cricket needs to get better. Less teams so higher standards to get into first class teams plus hard fairer pitches are needed.

Sahibzada Farhan led the home side from front by cracking a 164-ball 88 in Round 6 of QEA for KPK

On final day of QeA20 2nd XIs

Set a 191-run target, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reached the target for the loss of four wickets in 47.2 overs on the back of an unbeaten 100 off 147 balls (19 fours) from Sahibzada Farhan.

Another decent knock in the second XI one day cup, top scoring with 67(75) in a losing cause. What does that say about the quality of our second tier of cricket?

Day 1, Round 10, QeA20 - Sahibzada Farhan (62 off 87, six fours and three sixes).

155(135) in today's Pakistan Cup match against Balochistan. Helped chase down a mammoth total of 377. Do you feel he is better suited to ODI cricket than t20s?

His domestic stats endorse the same. A SR of 104 in T20s suggests he isnt someone who can tstart pushing the RR straight away and possibly struggles to handle the urgency present in T20s (Not uncommon). His list A average of over 50 and SR of 90+ suggest that he is able to play better in 50 overs cricket where he has more time and less urgency.

Hopefully he has worked on his technique as in the T20 internationals he played he got stuck on his crease. Could have been nerves along with the fact he was playing in the format which isnt much of his strength considering his overall style of game currently.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan scored a sensational 155 to help Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chase down 378 runs against Balochistan while Asif Ali’s smashing ton helped Northern beat Southern Punjab in the Pakistan Cup powered by Servis Tyres – One-Day Tournament 2020-21 third-round matches in Karachi on Tuesday.

Sahibzada Farhan produced a sensational 155 off 135 balls (15 fours, three sixes) to spearhead Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s stunning chase.

Farhan added 185 runs for the third-wicket with Kamran Ghulam (Highest run-getter of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21) who contributed 81 off 68 balls (three fours, four sixes) to set the base for the chase.

113* at the moment in the 2nd semi final of the Pakistan Cup - could win the game for them?

An unbeaten century in the Pakistan Cup final today against Central Punjab.

I must admit when I saw him bat in international cricket I thought he looked awful, but it seems he's worked on his game.

For all the critics , he has back to back 100’s to in a semi and final to win the Pakistan cup for his team.

Is it possible he was picked for the wrong format? Let’s be honest won’t be the first time it would in Pakistan cricket .

His stats are Impressive to have 7 hundreds in 38 matches with a strike rate of nearly 90

I said it a while back (few years) when his average was nearly 50 in List A that he should have been given a shot in ODI's rather than T20 where he expectedly failed and then discarded.

He had a great tournament, including performing when the stakes were highest. For ODI Pakistan have plenty of players now for opener, but he should be one of the options.

Still has the same issues back when he debuted for Pakistan. No real feet movement. Inability to rotate strike but his game awareness has improved massively

He has been great starting from Pakistan cup last year and now he is 🔥national t20 but i still believe he is more suited to ODI because he doesn't have singles game he either hits or blocks.

Enjoying himself in Muzaffarabad

Sahibzada Farhan scores his seventh T20 half-century during the Nat T20

Another player who will not push himself out of his comfort zone

He is no better than Rizwan/Babar/Abdullah Shafique/ Shan Masood/ Imam ul Haq etc at the top of the order

107 today in the Pakistan Cup as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat Southern Punjab by 36 runs at the NBP Sports Complex

Lahore Blues v Peshawar at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad

Day 3, Round 4 of QeA Trophy

Peshawar’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan scored 132 off 175 balls to help his side ended the second day’s proceeding on 224 for four in 62 overs.

Sahibzada Farhan starred with a hundred 171* Runs on third day of fifth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

Sahibzada Farhan has scored his maiden 200 in the match against Lahore Region White in the fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Excellent batting from him and some lovely shots he played in that mammoth double century.

Highlights of his double-hundred

Shaibzada Farhan has scored a 50 in an on going Semi-final of the Pakistan cup while playing for Peshawar Region against FATA and is still on the crease . He has a good outing recently and has been knocking on the door of selectors.

Quality player nepotism at the top won’t let him play. They will only play rizwan and imam in all three formats. Pakistan selection loves nurdlers not power hitters
