[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Shaheen Shah Afridi - Performance Watch

The fact that they wrote left-arm medium...the guy clocked 91.5 mph in the recently concluded T20I series.

Even Shaheen senses his partnership with Naseem will be the new W's partnership. The 2 Shahs.

One of the only two cricketers in the team worthy of praise and recognition.

He is growing well as a fast bowler. But he still has many challenges ahead. Being a left arm pacer is not easy in traditional Asian conditions and close to impossible in UAE.
I hope for him he doesn't play that many tests in UAE.

was over-bowled today... lack of better 5th bowling option and shamefull performance by Yasir shah meant that SSA was under more burden

Pak need to quickly think how to get rid of YAsir and bring some1 who can , if not take wickets, atleast hold 1 end solid so other bowlers can rotate around him

Harris Sohail was getting better bite than Yasir which shld make Yasir feels junk to say the least

Speaking to press at end of the match:

"I would like to thank the Almighty that He bestowed so much honour for me at such an early part of my career"

"I am happy that I took 4 wickets for my team but I will be happy with even one wicket if that means that it helps the team"

"In Pindi, fast-bowlers get a lot of help during morning time"

"We will try and win the match as our team is better than theirs"

"I am working very hard with Waqar Younis and my brother Riaz Afridi and alhamdolillah there is a lot of improvement, and am learning a lot"

PP experts were writing him off at the start. Who can forget the world cup where everyone was after him. Won't be surprised after a bad game or so they will pass their expert opinions again.

Bowled so well today. Was a pleasure to watch. Such a full length as well! Making use of a little bit of help from the surface. Abbas also was spectacular today.

what did I say? I thought so. he is destined for greatness if he realizes his potential. He can bowl all kind of variations and he has pace. Plus the height factor. If he can just improve his lengths he would be a complete bowler.

That 4th wicket of today was just filth.

Can watch it all day.

Cheetah.

His seam position is so good these days. Haven’t seen a seam like that from many Pakistan bowlers bar Wasim. Waqar had good seam position in later part of his career

Very pleased to see him bowling and getting a wicket with in-swing to the right hander.

Immediately he should quit this team.. Any team would love to have him in their squad

Incredible performance again from him. Unfortunately, his bowling partners let him down; Rauf not performing was surprising.

Incredible performance from Shaheen. Looked solid with some maturity and great variation.

This guy is superhuman. Swings it both ways and can almost bowl 150. Can bowl through a whole test match without his pace decreasing. He's also clever and accurate. A real hard worker who is highly competitive on the field. He isn't afraid to get in the batsman's space and give him a few words and a stare.

All this at 19. Mark my words, he will be number 1 in all formats before 23.

He should be dominating batsman of Psl quality and it's good he is doing that this season. Naseem will also do it once he has few games under his belt. Both these two and Babar are too ahead of anyone in this league be it local or international.

I just don't like the kisses he blows after taking a wicket. It just seems too feminine to me.

That celebration is cringe

He should watch videos of Shoaib and Flintoff celebrating after taking a wicket. Truly electrifying

Waqar Younis on Shaheen Shah Afridi:

"Shaheen Shah Afridi is a great learner, he likes to listen to you and I have been working with him for a good year now; He is very emotional as you can see, shaking his head when he is not happy and very aggressive by nature; I am also working on his temperament as he gets very aggressive at times, always keep on telling him have ice in the tummy, just keep it cool, you are better than that"

Interesting stuff but I don't agree with Waqar on the "keeping cool" bit. If Shaheen is "aggressive by nature", he should embrace it. He should embrace the aggression and display it on the field. He should not curb nis natural instincts. We need maverick players that show their ferocity on the field and play with passion!

lol at shaheen being aggressive. He looks like a 15 year old kid. He is the definition of achha Baccha. But Jee he is a real good bowler.

I have seen him sledge quite often, which is a good thing.

I said it ages back even before the world cup that shaheen is the real deal. Best Pakistani bowler by a country mile. Has potential to be a superstar. Even during the under 19 world cup I knew he was the best talent from that batch.

naseem Is good but shaheen is much superior in every facet of the game.

shaheen doesn't even have to be great in australia and south africa. He just needs to help pakistan dominate in home conditions and wreck teams there. We all know he can swing the ball well. So he will be useful in England and n.z.

most ATGs have underperformed in certain countries.

India, australia, south africa don't have a talent as good as shaheen under 23.

He is so good.

I just don’t have words to describe him.

Might be the best bowler in the World, at the moment.

I reckon he could be by the end of this year, provided Coronavirus doesn't cause cancellations throughout the year.

I don't rate many bowlers these days. Too many home bullies and SENA bullies out there who are being overrated like they are the second coming of steyn rofl.

But I rate this man. He has the skillset.

If injuries do not interfere, he will dominate cricket for the next 5-10 years.

This was ridiculous. Ball of the tournament. Such a shame there was no crowd to react to the wicket.

Pitched up, 140k, late movement. Absolutely brilliant.

His yorkers have to be the best going around right now, they are deadly, they come at pace and from a height. Especially the new ball yorkers.

Shaheen got a big job this morning getting some early wickets. Started off a bit sluggishly.

He's bowled well in his first spell, could've had another wicket easily.

Bowling really well atm. Very intelligent bowling.
I’ve seen comments in a few different threads complimenting each of Shaheen, Naseem and Abbas for how well they have bowled today - and yet the facts are that opposition is 300-4 and the pace trio have bowled 55 overs between them and taken two wickets combined.

Is that really good enough?

Would we say they bowled well if they carry on bowling this well tomorrow also and take another 4 wickets after a hard day’s work , with the opposition scoring 550-600 ?

Not questioning their commitment but maybe if they are bowling to the best of their abilities and only able to take a wicket after 20-25 overs of sweat and toil then there’s clearly a question mark over their ability... or do we still praise them?

(And to make it more fascinating as soon as England pacers will come on to bowl , the ball will be seaming/swinging around everywhere on the same wicket , and Pakistani batsmen will be in survival mode, looking as if they might get out on every ball pitched up)

He was bowling well at that point, but he did lose it later on.

Not a great outing for Shaheen in the 2nd T20I - 0-44 after 3.1 overs.

It has not been a great tour for him, but we must be patient.

Lets not forget he was going through a similar slump in the 2019 ODI series vs England and the first couple of games he played in the WC.

He has the quality, he has shown that on the International scene and in the PSL.

Maybe he should be dropped for the next game, however he should still remain in the long term plans.

I request Pakistan fans to show the same respect to Shaheen, that they show other young bowlers. Pretty certain Naseem, Hasnian, Rauf etc would have been bashed endless here, had they gone for 13 RPO.

He has a major meltdown issue. He freezes when the batsmen take him on. He needs to learn how to respond under pressure. A bowler of his talent should perform better, rather than resort to bowling filth.

He has had a really bad series. He needs some support and to work with a good bowling coach. I don’t have a lot of faith in Waqar.

The kid cannot land 2 deliveries in the same area.

Full tosses, half-trackers, so much leg-side rubbish.

What is going on with him.

Mentally drained he just played 3 test matches back to back getting battered in the process he should have been rested like naseem

Yes he should he dropped anywaiz he shouldn't have played the t20s not even 1

Expectations are sometimes unrealistic. He was part of Pakistan team after just 1 FC match and few PSL matches. He has started his career much better than many, he is still 20 years old and will get better with for experience and games under his belt.

I guess expectations of hitting constant line and length with as limited FC experience as Shaheen had was unrealistic. Yes he has been part of Pak team for sometime but nothing can replace the toil of hard day of 4day match as thats the only thing which develops the natural line and length around that off stump area. Learning on the job in tests and in international cricket was always gonna be inconsistent with ups and downs. He obviously has the skills as he has shown on multiple occasions, just needs cover those 15-20 4 day games which most youngsters play before their debut pretty fast.

Shaheen knocks Bairstow's off stump out the ground 4 balls into the innings. Don't write him off someone with his talent after a few bad games

Anyone noticed how much more threatening Shaheen looks today for once on this tour bending his back and getting to 90mph — clearly he’s giving it his all today as it’s the last 4 overs he’s bowling on this tour — but why can’t he bowl with this style and aggression in test cricket, just bowl him in short 3-4 over spells if that’s what it takes ?

Ditto goes for Naseem as well who is even more raw and under cooked and both are expected to win SENA tests when they have not won any yet for their quaid e azam trophy sides.
Need to show patience I will not mind if Ehsan/Hassan takes Naseem place for couple of years while he plays loi regularly.
