[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Shaheen Shah Afridi - Performance Watch

The way he raced in his first 2 overs bowling an avg speed of 90 mph, why can't he do that in all his spells? The guy is almost 7 ft tall and doesn't bowl enough rapid bouncers? Why?

Our only bowler with genuine potential. Rest are all products of overhyping.

Anyone noticed how much more threatening Shaheen looks today for once on this tour bending his back and getting to 90mph — clearly he’s giving it his all today as it’s the last 4 overs he’s bowling on this tour — but why can’t he bowl with this style and aggression in test cricket, just bowl him in short 3-4 over spells if that’s what it takes ?

Because Misbah is a brainless oaf who refuses to play a 5 man attack.

Ever thought of of 5 bowlers may help?

U cant have Shaheen and naseem bowling 3 over spells hes a new ball bowler you ahve to atleast bowl 5-6 overs espically when you play 3 fast bowlers they are expected to bowl the first session atleast

Becouse in the tests he had to bowl long spells and also played all three tests your not going to bowl at 90mph in tests and t20s but I agree with his height he should be able to bowl bouncers at will

Very impressed with shaheen today. At 20 this guy is best young quickie in world for me. Bowling 90mph today. Has it all including a good cricket brain. He and naseem shah will give some
Batters nightmares in the future

What a ball.

That ball was actually swinging in with the seam and then went away. Unplayable delivery and not to forget Shaheen was bowling at an average speed of 89 Mph in that spell.

To be honest, was so quick, I didnt even see it hit the stumps - thought it was an appeal for an lbw lol!

Couldnt even catch it in real time - it was that quick.

His new-ball spell yesterday was insane. Was clocking 90 MPH but it looked faster. Batsmen were getting rushed almost every ball.

It was disappointing that Babar didn’t let him bowl one more there when he was on song. Instead, he brought on Haris/Wahab for the last two overs of the powerplay and England got some momentum going then. Thought that was a pretty ordinary decision. When your bowler is bowling like that then you can let him bowl an extra over and deviate slightly from the pre-prepared plan.

Babar should have bowled 3 overs espically when wahab and rauf are better after 6 overs and better at the death overs

Well done Shaheen played all 3 tests and both 2 t20s excellent fitness and top speeds today

That yorker to dismiss Bairstow was absolutely devastating! In real time it was lightening quick, I didn't even notice it was out at first, that's how quick it was.

Outstanding in the National T20 where many bowlers have struggled on flat surfaces and with short boundaries.

After how bad he was in the England tests, I've lost faith in him.

He has a low bowling IQ.

Once again showcasing your cluelessness and lack of understanding.
Contrary to your assumption, Shaheen has very good bowling IQ.
He is a guy who needs to bowl a lot of overs to get into rhythm and the 6 month break did him no favors.
It was clear in the English test series that he was short on rhythm and practice, which was evident from his underpar speed readings and lack of correct execution.
This even continued on till his stint with Hampshire and he only regained some of that rhythm in the last match where he took 6-for. Since then, he has been going from strength to strength and has already picked up two five-fors in the flattest conditions ever.

There is criticism, then there is this reaction. Not many were pleased with how Shaheen bowled, but there is no doubt that he is our future.

Shaheen needs to be managed properly, and motivated to work on his shortcomings.

He is world class odi and T20bowler. Don't think he would do too well in tests to be fair.
He may improve but he definitely appears to be a shorter format star. In odi and T20 he is already a top 5 bowler.

When he applies himself he will be a brilliant bowler, i hope he doesnt follow the Hassan Ali model, i remember seeing him at one of the world cup games last year, once the fans started to cheer his name he straightened his back a bit and you could see he was enjoying the adulation, unfortunately for him he misfielded 2 easy balls straight after so a sign of him maybe losing focus and trying to run before he can walk.

He has the physical attributes to become a top class strike bowler in Test, age is in his side as well; but what I don’t like is he is focusing too much on T20 cricket where he’ll always pick wickets. It’s the Test & ODI where he needs to strike early, with new ball. Hasan Ali went to same route and it didn’t help. Shaheen shouldn’t play any T20 tournament outside PSL while he is probably playing whatever coming - from BPL to CPL to National T20. This year is a bit different as players got 6/7 months paid leave, but from next year PCB must be strict - PSL & May be one more & no National T20. Knocking PAK domestic batsmen in T20 won’t take him much further apart from aggravating hidden tears in ligaments & joints.

Nope, Naseem, Rauf, and Hasnain are also good bowlers not because of their pace but they don't give you free runs. Haris is wayward sometimes but After Shaheen, he is the only one with good yorkers.

You get paid more and well in T20. Of course he will play. Can't blame him.

Tests is the most important format but I think Shaheen will have to manage his workload better if he wants to become an all format star.

He some how became a different bowler after 3rd T20 Vs England his pace increased using crease nicely, taking advantage of his height. I hope his performance is test also improves.

That's the issue players should not think about cutting down their workload it should be management but they are so headless that the player himself takes a decision about how I can save my career by not overplaying. They have a very good example in NewZealand and Aussies how they rotate their bowlers but they are not learning.

You can think it other way - maximise earning 3-4 years or get a steady income for 15 years. It’s the story of golden egg lying goose. The way PAK pacers are dealing ... in 5-6 years time their income would come down to domestics only. Three years back in 2017, Hasan Ali was the hottest cake in cricket world .... in three years time, he might end in Ramadan league & T10 in UAE - still in his 20s.

Think about Mo Amir - when he went for few easy bucks more, PAK players were not banned in IPL; relationship with PCB & ECB was better, lots of PAK players were playing in Dhaka Premier League at very good money for 10-12 weeks, there were other endorsements, sponsorships ...... outside India that guy could have been the highest paid cricketer in world - yet he opted to dirt his hand for an amount less than his one match fee!!!!

Players have to realise where their long term prospect lies - be it illegal activities or maintaining fitness. There is absolutely no reason for premier pacers to waste energy behind T20 - if required, PCB has to pay them out. Mustafiz so far has got from BCB around $75k for skipping IPL - PCB can manage that as well. SSA is not like the other hyped talents - PCB has a responsibility as well.

Afridi is a real deal. PCB has to protect hem. I am pretty shocker reading scorecards around the world with him in it.

What? He just placed test series, first class practice matches and a t20 series after a long break. Why is he playing anything in domestic at all. He is above that. Batters I get. But your premiere pacer. Don't do M Amir with him.

I had to google David Wiese almost seems like I ve been living under a rock w.r.t T20

Shaheen is probably the first bowler after Shoaib Akhtar who looks like he's going to take 200 Test wickets. Even against England, Shaheen was terrific with the new ball. Made Rory Burns look like a tailender. However, he still has lots to learn with respect to Test match bowling. This is where development of a Test bowler comes into play. I'm not sure Waqar Younis is the guy who can take Shaheen to the next level as a Test bowler. Probably no one in Pakistan can. He needs 5 years of county season with qualified English coaches. Also, a great bowler at the other end will help him a lot.

In terms of ODI and T20s, he's already very good. He will disappear from time to time but that is the nature of the game these days. You just have to accept it and move on.

The boy has won the crickter of the year award :)

First pakistani crickter to win this award.

Almost pulled his arm out!

World's best bowler vs world's best batter in PSL Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars!

Shaheen Shah Afridi vs Babar Azam.

Let's see who is who!

I am concerned and nervous at the way Shaheen Afridi is diving around in the PSL Final. Somebody needs to have a word with him. Pakistan needs him for the next decade.

Shaheen Shah Afridi gave Pakistan the perfect start in the tri-series final by removing Pathum Nissanka for 11 with a clever slower ball that deceived him and shattered the stumps, leaving Sri Lanka one down early.
