[VIDEOS/PICTURES] The IPL 2020 (19th September - 10th November) Tournament Thread

Bumrah hasn't looked the same...ever since his comeback from stress fracture.

Will be interesting to see how he responds as the tournament progresses.

Yes hope he regains his form. Else, we may as well call off the Australia tour. He is the mvp in our test team.

Sam Curran is such a blessing for us , usually English players don't do zilch for CSK.

JaDed - Why is Hardik Pandya not bowling?

What back injuries impact the most is the ability of pacers to ball yorkers and looking at Bumrah I think he is clearly struggling at the moment. Will need to put in hard yards but, as said previously on few occasions its a difficult action to carry on for long time so will need some real effort which is not impossible but tough.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS WIN!

Trent Boult steps up to bowl the last over, but any lingering hopes for Mumbai Indians are eroded as Du Plessis lofts him for a four over backward point with the first ball of the over. The scores are tied with five balls remaining and Du Plessis seals the deal in style, pulling Boult to the fence, as the Super Kings end a run of five consecutive defeats against the defending champions!

Ambati Rayudu is adjudged the Man of the Match for his magnificent knock of 71 off 48 deliveries.

Dhoni - To make it happen there are a hundred different things; as cricketers we easily criticize stuff. To have the practice facilities like these at the ICC academy were fantastic. Unless you get practice facilities you won't play well in a tournament like this.

....

Guess maybe we need to improve our facilities further.

For such a high standard elite league, I was disappointed to see quite a few players looking out of shape and some with blatant bellies. Wth have they been doing in lockdown for the last 6 months?

Teams are also being careful against Bhumra by not giving him wickets and only punishing his really bad deliveries

Delhi Capitals have been dealt a blow ahead of their match against Kings XI Punjab as pace spearhead Ishant Sharma injured himself during training on Saturday and will have to be assessed before the start of their opening game on Sunday to see if he is fit to play. Speaking to ANI, a DC support staff member confirmed that while Ishant injured himself at training on Saturday, a final call will be taken before the game. "He did injure himself while training yesterday, but we will see how it goes. We will assess his injury status before the game and will take a call accordingly. We have the medical team which takes a final call on these matters," he said.

Chris Gayle – who is known for his ability to hit sixes at will – needs 16 runs to join David Warner in an elite club. Gayle could do it on Sunday when Kings XI Punjab lock horns with Delhi Capitals in their tournament opener in Dubai. Gayle could become the second overseas player to score 4500 runs in IPL. He currently has 4,484 runs in 125 matches.

It would also make the West Indies cricketer the sixth player to cross the mark. RCB skipper Virat Kohli (5,412 runs in 177 games) heads the list and is followed by CSK star Suresh Raina (5,368 runs in 193 games). Rohit Sharma (4,898 in 188 games) is next in the list and he is followed by SRH’s Warner (4,706 in 126 games).

On the other hand, KXIP skipper KL Rahul also has something to look forward to this evening. He is 23 runs away from surpassing the 2000-run mark in IPL. He would become the 20th player to do so if he gets there.

Rahul spoke of KXIP’s chances ahead of their opener. He said that he looks forward to making this season memorable.

“The team has been fantastic, we’ve been getting along great and are looking forward to playing a good brand of cricket and making this season a memorable one,” Rahul said.

“We’re confident, we’re motivated and we are really excited to be a part of this edition of the Indian Premier League.”

Both sides will look to get their campaign off to a winning start as that would give them early momentum and in a tournament as long as the IPL, that could be the key. KXIP has a decent side and fans would hope they have a season to remember.

Don't worry about Bumrah's form people. He is a big engine with proper ignition timing. He will fire all cylinders in time.

Look at the bounce on this pitch. And man man Shami is such a good bowler. World Class.

Wow Shreyas in form looks like Sharma initially, also great to see Sarfaraz's fitness JattMaula, launda lockdown main workout kiya hai, hopefully still has the powerful game.

Delhi looking weak here , they have been not being able to get things right in IPL for long long time

Shots Iyer hits are so amazing and amazing, but poor bowling.

DC 93/5 (15) CRR: 6.2

Kings XI Punjab opt to bowl

Good first game by Bishnoi, 22/1 in 4 overs.. Look like Mujeeb will sit out most of the matches..
And Axar Patel gone..

DC missed the trick. Iyer should bat at 3 and Pant at 4. Keep Hetmyer for lower order hitting.

Bishnoi was the highest Wicket taker in U-19 WC and has had a good first match, so much eagerness in his eyes glad he is under Kumble but seems more like a LOI player.
