[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Watch out for 147 KPH Under-19 fast-bowler Mohammad Amir Khan

He is mind boggling quick considering his lethargic approach to crease, shades of Bhumrah and Naseem as well.

Run up is very similar to Mark Wood and bowling action is hybrid of Andre Russel and Naseem Shah.

Exciting talent. Height is an issue though. Hope he grows few inches in next 1 year. Looks genuine 18 Shukarr hai :-)

Dare i say it, i see a hint of Bumrah and Naseem just before the release. Videos can be misleading but he looks very quick but it maybe that its a quick pitch and our BD bros are little scared.

hahhah... get ready for bangla bashing ... lol how dare u call em scared lol hahaha

That's we all love about Pak cricket, raw pacy and scary fast bowlers keep coming and in the last 2 years it looks like we might have made a record for finding so many 145k+ bowlers.

reminds me of Mr Mark Wood..... lol too much effort in last few strides and lot of shoulder jerk...

will need to work hard on fitness... isnt a natural like SSA or Naseem

This is exactly my concern. Looks a tremendous talent. But it's an injury prone action.

This kid is gonna be a real Asset.
Make me wonder what the domestic teams have been doing in the last 10 years playing the Same Pacers and now we suddenly have tape ball bowlers and kids bowling 90Mph.

Well, well, well.

What have we here.

This boy looks sharp.

The new domestic format and PSL will help Pakistan cricket unearth talent.Previously there were too many mediocre teams which made it difficult to identify real talent

Wow, this guy looks genuinely good. Can't wait to watch him in action at the PSL.

Hearing good things about this boy from various coaches.

Love it when we see bowlers who are unorthodox and have natural flair.

Let's see how he goes. Hopefully he'll get a chance in the PSL.

Approach to the crease looks like Mark Wood. He defintely has pace. Excited to see how quick he is in the PSL. He has a high arm too.

Commentators critical of his run up - why dont our coaches see this?

Another hyped up player, look at his runup, how much fast he can get from this ?

Ijaz Ahmed saying Amir Khan had not bowled properly for last 3-4 days as was struggling with hamstring today.

He has what many don’t have. Pace and ability to deliver the slower ones.

However needs to work on few aspects that can be easily improved ie run up.

We going to lose this game due to this guy, so much hype for -----this ??

I think 1 or 2 matches are definitely not enough to judge anyone let alone U19 guy who is still developing.

Considering how fast we judge players and completely right them off now a days imagine Saeed Anwer debuting in this era and playing his first 11 ODIs like he did when he debuted.

Yes not everybody becomes an international star but everybody who once selected should be given proper opportunities. If someone is not a good enough potential than he shouldnt be selected in the first place.

probably copying bumra. Needs to work on his runup. will be much much better if he developes a smoother run up.

his run up was awful but his delivery stride was very smooth...he just couldt bowl line and lenghth for some reason and still ended with 3fer i think he will definately improve...no idea what rao iftikhar is doing if he cant sort his run up out

He is one of the guys who don't rely on a runup, he can stand still and still manage to deliver 130k+ deliveries. Very strong shoulders I must say MASHALLAH.

But for an international U19 bowler it's the duty of a coach to at least make his runup okish if not perfect.

It's difficult to change a run-up during a tournament.

They'll work with him after this tournament I guess.

Absolutely, otherwise he is well built, not short and his final delivery stride generates pace. Good potential but needs coaching over time before considering him for higher level cricket. At this stage , he is just above Musa, which is good at under 19 level, but not at FC level.

Ijaz Ahmed saying Amir Khan had not bowled properly for last 3-4 days as was struggling with hamstring today.

Need to be firing on all cylinders today - hopefully no injuries

Can He and Tahir do what Anwar & Jamshedpur did against Ind U19 few years back ?

If Amir is fully fit than he will bowl the fastest ball of U19 WC 2020. Hope his hamstring is fine now.

Fingers crossed.

Why is the u19 management playing an injured Amir Khan ?

This is what Ijaz Ahmed " Amir Khan had not bowled properly for last 3-4 days as was struggling with hamstring today."

If he aggravates this injury at his age . it could be career threatening. Really sad to see.

Not fully fit and as usual, fans right at it with asking questions on the basis of one match.

If he is not fit, why is he playing? Secondly he is diving around at boundary and doesn’t look unfit so what is truth?

A 147 kph bowler can’t be bowling 130 kph. He seems fine running around. We need to acknowledge that he’s a trundler and Ijaz Ahmed lied

Lol! Why would Ijaz lie? Would he have landed some sort of bonus if Amir would have bowled at 147 kph?

He is clearly struggling which is evident even his walk towards his mark. Ofcourse he is gonna try when is he is playing a semi of 19 WC but body cant always bend to ones wishes.

Naseem was called a 130 kph trundler by many when he bowled in national T20 cup. Lets wait for PSL if he is fully fit by then than we can see.

Lol he is diving around d and running full speed. What injury?

Lol he is diving around d and running full speed. What injury?

Because he is a kid who is trying to give it his all in probably the biggest game of his life so far. Is that hard to understand Mr Smart Alec ?

Trying to give ones best doesnt mean he is 100%. Fast bowling takes a lot more fitness the running around and produce one odd dive.

Naseem clocked 147 kph on first ball in international cricket. He is a progidy not everyone is like him. Let’s see even in PSL, this guy is a trundler it is clear you can shut your eyes on evidence

Ijaz likes limelight and wanted Naseem. He wanted to show he found another genuine quick bowler if his claim had come out right he would have taken credit of discovering him

Trundling at 125kph now, this is next level military medium, truly impressive stuff.

Amir has a good future- he may not be the 90mph bowler but he is quick enough and will only get quicker. He hits the bat hard, so anywhere near 85mph will be fine.

Well we have other 140kph bowlers :)

But this guy is a big let down. Not he’s fault. Blame the hype.

I just watched Amir's 1st spell, I think the guy has a lot going for him. This is U19 level and you expect uncut diamonds and that's what he is. As I said earlier he bowls a hard bowl at good pace( 82mph is decent) , and those people that have played bowlers that bowl a hard bowl, you feel the bat vibrate. His run up is poor but that will improve with guidance, he cuts the ball sharply away from left handers, and the same ball will be cutting into right handed batsmen and the way modern batsmen play, flat footed, he will be an interesting prospect. The big unknown is his desire and bowling intelligence.

I would wait for another spell probably in PSL or afterwards before rejecting Ijaz's statement. To my eye he didnt look fully fit but I can be wrong so that is why its better to wait and see him in few weeks before passing any outright judgement.

He is part of Peshawar Zalmi in PSL this season so will get a great chance to improve his skills and speed playing with Wahab, Hasan and being coached by M Akram.

Trundlers don't get PSL contract Even before playing a single u19 game, that guy definitely not 100% in last 2 games, against BD his pace was noticeably high

Yeh bhi din dekhney kou aney thay, jabb indians humarey fast bowlers kou insult karein gaye.

Fans are too impatient. He can bowl mid to high 130s off a couple of strides, so he will definitely be able to bowl 140-145 with a proper run up.

You hshould not be jumping in the air on the basis of ome spell. lets wait may be he was not fit as people say.

You guys too should not be hyping up players to the Moon who mostly turn out to be utter garbage.

OK , we will not do it but you reactions here looks immature to be honest. I know posters here who post continuously and I also know the quality posters and those who run their mouths too much.

PP hype brigade was burning the mid night oil for wht?? A trundler... ?? Pretty deplorable state of affairs going by current hype around mediocre bowlers & batsmen.. god knows wht would hv happened if tyagi nd Jaiswal happened to be Pakistani...

Not necessarily, but he isn't as good as we had hoped and not as bad as some are making out. He is the uncut diamond, let's hope he kicks on.

I suspect that 6’6 Shaheen Shah Afridi will single-handedly take more Test wickets than:

5’9 Naseem Shah PLUS
5’8 Mohammad Amir Khan PLUS
5’7 Musa Khan

Perhaps more than Naseem but not more than him combined with two other bowlers. E.g. Wasim > Waqar but it is not true to say Wasim > Waqar + Aaquib + M Zahid

Naseem is a potential great, so is Shaheen. Shaheen especially due to his height, ability to move ball both ways, and most importantly hunger to learn

Amir probably won’t play international cricket

Who knows.

Sometimes a player learns more from a loss than 100 wins.

The defeat to India could be a wake-up call for some of the Pak Under 19s.

I feel Hurraira and Rohail need to learn the most. Hurraira for throwing his innings away (good to learn at this stage rather than ending up like an Umar Akmal or Fakhar Zaman) and Rohail for his selfish innings — Rohail will learn purely because he is the captain and the responsibility fell squarely on his shoulders, and he must realize how the innings went wrong in terms of how he built it, and how he rotated the strike (or lack thereof). Both have potential, I hope they build some character from this loss.

I would give him a little more time it could be that he was suffering from some sort of injury, after 1-2 telivised matches I think we will be better able to pass some judgement about his pace
