Think he deserves a thread! 18 year old from Kerala. Played some stunning shots one would not expect from a boy of his age... Surely will represent India in the days to come
 
the lad ll play for India...Nothing can stop that..I wud say he ll play 2015 WC for India..

If he makes his debut for India would be the first mallu BAT.... Come on kid lets gooo...
 
Haven't seen him, but we haven't had great experiences with Mallus in the national side of late. :)
 
No Keeper has a chance as long as Dhoni is in the side.

He needs totry his luck as a Batsman which is very difficult. Since he is only 18, May be in the next 3-4yrs we can see him in the side.
 
Amazing amazing talent this kid is! I hope he keeps getting better, but boy.. hasn't he shown both class and power. Much much better than over-hyped Unmukt Chand or Vohra.
 
:umarakmal? That's a big compliment to the young lad... hopefully develops some muscles like him! Infact, I get reminded of Angelo Mathews when he's batting.. similar audacious style and good under pressure
 
Boy is talented for sure, Clean hitting. Don't hype him up yet, he needs to be selected for A tours to Eng,SA,AUS etc. to know his real worth.

he is a class of his own. He can bat with proper shots and what i like the most about him is .. HE DOES NO SLOG! He uses his Arms with Power and Middle's the bat. I love this guy!

He's the find of the IPL. Has all the potential to be Dhoni v2, as destructive as Dhoni but with a far better range of authentic cricket shots.
 
Chekkan looks good with the bat and behind the stumps, however he needs to stay away from that clown Sreesanth.........
 
Solid talent. One for the future, if they groom him properly.

Right when Dhoni retires, Samson should be on the verge of his prime years.

At the moment from all of the Indian talents, Pujara is the real beast. That guy is gonna be one of the greats of this game by the end of his international career.
 
I have never hyped any Indian batsman after looking few perfomances in IPL.
But I can confidently say that Sanju Samson is such a talented batsman at just 18 yers of age.
He looks far far better than Manoj Tiwary, Rahane, Unmukt Chand.

I just loved his footwork and style of batting.
I can easily say he is the next big thing for India after Pujara.

thats what IPL do for Indian talent, within 1 month people know you if you are good
If there was no IPL, Sanju would be any other ordinary Indian cricketer rubbing his heals in domestic Ranji trophy for 5 years before someone identified him
 
My assumption will be, he is better than dhoni already in test.
 
for the first time i am seeing my fellow mallu who can really bat.Great going sanju and also be level headed like us instead of that stupid sreesanth.

Clean hitter, unless you can show me an 18 year old kid that looks better or as good playing against international level competition. If he does not turn into a ftb like Jayawardene India would be well served..

He's a good timer but unless I see his defensive game can't comment

Good hitter, no doubt, but I still feel Babar Azam are the most talented u19 batsman from Subcontinent.
 
If the Indian Selectors are wise enough, they should give him an early opportunity as he is in-form.

They shouldn't keep prolonging his selection for the next 10 years and finally say, he is too old now.

Chekkan kidilamaa, have seen him playing for clubs 2 years back. Solid shots and excellent temperament.
 
Saw some of his shots on Youtube, looks a good hitter of the ball can play the short balls well too.

obviously you would know the talent from IPL, but not from Ranji trophy!

Clown or not, but I heard from Sanju's interview that Sreesanth was the one who supported him all through his career with state side and he helped him get into RR side.

Good talent. Like his batting stand, so still and then bang! India already have a substitute for Dhoni and this lad can play many many years.

Yes but pls remember .... All that giltters doesnt turn out to be gold and this is well fitting in Indian players's case. Players looking gr8 at youth sometimes dont do well wheras others who r average at younger level go onto do well.

It all depends on how hard you work on the god given talent.If sanju keeps his head and works hard nothing can deter him.supremely talented youngster

totally agree and this is reason to have many many good players at this level as most of them wont make it..but its always good sign when young kid comes up and performs so well.
 
This Kid is a special talent, but I am afraid he wont be successful in Indian colors due to regional politics in Indian Cricket. I will be happy if I am proved wrong.

How lucky are India they have :msd and talents like this guy waiting!!

Regional politics cud have practically killed the game in India. But one man fought against everything with his blade and another leader fought with his brains and now the system is definitely more merit based than earlier. Still regional politics arnd but now people are aware of the talents in India so questions are asked when someone doesnt get a chance. One wonders how many talents the politics wud have destroyed in the middle period.
 
He has a great technique and temperament.

And he has age on his side. Looking forward to seeing this guys career develop.

No ordinary 17, not even the great SRT in his teenage had this sort of strength at the age of 17

He will come into recognition because of the exposure they get in Ipl and champions league.

lets hope he does well in the future. But someone like rohit and rahane despite their IPL exploits has not been at their best in the international arena.

I hope samson does not follow this trend.

may be MSD... comes from a small town with not much cricketing history and certainly no lobbying power behind him (when he was new at least)

Rohit and rahane came into recognition not because of Ipl .
They did well in domestic matches.
Samson looks a special talent though. He will come into recognition very soon.

Maybe to you Indians because you people follow your cricket more closely. Both came into limelight thanks to IPL though I came to know of rohit in the 2007 WT20.

Lets hope Sanju becomes a good player for India(until England snaps him uo)
 
samson made good start in ranji too..hope people dont forget that ..this guy is no ipl hack

rohit debuted and played 2 great innings even before ipl was created
infact he was in t20 world cup and played decently from what i remember

rahane has average of over 60 in ranji so that is that..

You certainly didn't read Greg Chappell's recent article on impact of gully cricket on Indian players.

they haven't been failures either. Sharma averages 32+ in ODIs in on and off international cricket that he has got to play, and i don't think many non-Indian batsmen who have debuted in the last 5 years have better averages? He may not have fulfilled his own potential, but his performance has been creditable (not great) in international cricket.

I actually got to know about his great ranji average while he was playing in the IPL.

that is your lack of information .
selectors and people who select these players and some fans who follow ranji had these guys marked long before ipl was even created ..

pujara,rahane etc were scoring ton after ton ..infact 300 of pujara got him lot of hype
 
Played well today. But inexperience showed! Needs to concentrate on fitness, to play longer innings. Guy's got all the ingredients to play for the Indian team..
