[VIDEOS] Sir Ravindra Jadeja tributes thread

Better batsmen than Ashwin and an excellent bowler who can do the job for India when Ashwin is not there or bowling poorly. Example- Australia tour of India 2017.

Carrying the burden of lower order on his shoulders these days and playing the role of finisher. Well played Jadeja. For me you were the MOTM today. :inti

Highest ODI Score by No.7 Indian Player in Australia

75 - Kapil Dev (1980)
66* - Ravindra Jadeja (Today)
60* - Hemang Badani (2004)
51 - Robin Uthappa (2008)

He might have hogged the limelight for his four wickets in the third Test, or for his electric fielding effort that saw him brilliantly run out Steve Smith. But bowling coach Bharat Arun feels the rise of Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder is a huge bonus for India. Before being ruled out of the final Test against Australia, Jadeja played a key role in the visitors' win in the second Test. The left-handed batsman also notched up an important 28 off 37 balls in the first innings of the third Test. Arun was in awe of Jadeja's all-round skills and said that his batting has made him the most complete all-rounder for the Virat Kohli-led side.

"Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been magnificent. They are number one spinners in the world plus Jadeja's rise as an all-rounder is a huge bonus for the country. The way he is batting, Jadeja is today the most complete all-rounder we have and it is an exceptional sign for India," Arun said in a virtual press conference on Friday.

''Chinaman'' Kuldeep Yadav didn't get to play in Australia during the Test series, but the bowling coach is aware of the spinner's skills. He feels Kuldeep will be a major force to reckon with if he plays against England in February.

"Kuldeep Yadav is working hard enough. He has been excellent. Horses for courses is the best thing and when he will get a chance to play, he can show what he can do because he is been bowling magnificent and when in India he will play that will be his best form," said Arun.

"The only chance he got in the T20 game he bowled a fantastic spell. Every player in the team knows that when his role will come it will of great importance for the team," he added.

The Ajinkya Rahane-led side beat Australia by three wickets against all odds in the final Test at The Gabba on Tuesday to take the series 2-1.

India's historic win has also ensured they toppled Australia in the ICC Test Team Rankings to claim the second spot. The side will next lock horns with England in a four-match Test series in February.

Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on TV and said – are you out of your mind?! I'd like a drag of whatever it is you've been smoking, chump. Now get dressed…you are going to see an ophthalmologist!" – Sir Gary Sobers

"Technically, you can't fault Jadeja. Seam or spin, fast or slow every goddamn thing is a problem." – Geoffrey Boycott

"When I said I was 'smelling the ball' you found it funny. What does he do as batsman? He only smells" - Shahid Afridi.

"You know why I have a different hairstyle? Because it matched to his and Dhoni once mistakenly said to me, "Jaddu, come and bowl your bakery stuff" - Sachin Tendulkar.

"When it comes to the worst, he is up there with the Akmals" - Richie Benaud.

What an OP :))):))):)))

Just shows how much he used to get trolled.Even MS trolled him on twitter

Somehow he turned it around so much that we now miss him lol

lol I know it's not possible but if jadeja manages to end up with an average of 23 at the end of his career than he will truly need to be knighted lol!sir jadeja:bow:

Sir averages 24 with bowl till now, so not far off. Also, averages 35 with bat too :yk

Indeed it is. Great write up Dhoni183!

However I'm still not sold over his ODI batting. Still a weak link.

Let’s keep the batting and bowling aside which is pretty good
But his reputation as a fielder is extraordinary. Being called the best fielder in world by international cricketers and media is a huge honour.
Yes Catches win matches, but his fielding kills a contest ..

He has really come a long long way since his debut.

What a hitting today, 37 in an over off the purple cap holder, Harshal Patel.

This guy does not fail to fascinate me. He's regarded as a mediocre player yet he pulls off these extraordinary moments that nobody else in his team could do.

Freakish player.
If you give Sir Jadeja 2 runs to score from 1 ball he will win it with the ball left - MSD

Who even regards him as a mediocre player?

The guy's a borderline ATG in test cricket. Arguably the most valuable player going around in world cricket today because of his ability to contribute in all three disciplines.

I mean I've never seen him get the credit he deserves. The fact that he's not a permanent fixture in the side. I remember when Manjrekar called him a bits and pieces player. But still, I feel he just keeps defying odds and everyone's perceptions of him, which makes him so fascinating to me.

Head and shoulders above Shahid Afridi ,Ben Stokes,Woakes in tests and limited overs cricket ..

Indian team management does

Hasn't got the top contract and isn't a certainty in all conditions

Well he should get the top contract because he is a fixture in all three formats of the game.

The dilemma between Ashwin and Jadeja might have had some value in the past but it's now obsolete. Jadeja has taken his batting to a level where he can be arguably considered as a specialist batsman at 6 in test cricket while Ashwin showed his value with the ball in Australia by keeping Steve Smith in his pocket for a large part of the series. I think it's a no brainer that India have to play both Ashwin and Jadeja together in all overseas matches regardless now. Both complement each other very well in bowling and Jadeja's improvement with the bat means we don't need to make a decision on who to play and who to drop.

Greatest fielder I’ve personally seen after Symonds. Equally good as AB but more clutch. Don’t think anyone in history has taken more clutch catches than him

Given that he was ranked the #1 bowler in Tests, no one should ever regard him as a mediocre player.

Also his usual super fielding performance, a run out with a direct hit to go with his batting and bowling.

It was a treat to watch him play against RCB today. Sir Jadeja may have been put under spell by a magician to force him to think that he was the only player playing against RCB and he had to do it all.

I still consider Jonty Rhodes as the best fielder ever. The guy saved at least 30 runs per game at point and took some crazy good catches and he could hit the stumps at will.

Jonty Rhodes, Ricky Ponting, and Ravindra Jadeja .... 3 best fielders I have seen.

I stumbled upon this thread for first time.
Could not help notice the humour in the very first posts of trolls about Ravindra Jadeja,
Could not help notice the malice and cruelty in some of them either, which is pathetic and I feel no player deserves this.
IMHO along with Ishant, Hitman, Shami.. he has to be the biggest mover and shaker in his stats, one of the most improved player of the 2010's....
I feel he should be one of the first guys on the team sheet in a T20 and ODI.
In a test, its a marginal decision overseas but he's shown he can cause an impact cue Sydney and Mel bourne 2020.
I feel where he has improved tremendously is his ability to concentrate.
I happened to chance on a few u-tube videos of him say 2012-13 ish...and feel he would be easily distracted.
There is a calmness to him nowadays, probably has a fab effect on his focusing for longer periods.
I feel at the moment, he is in top allrounder bracket currently playing along with Stokes, Woakes, Dhananjaya, Shakib UH, Jamieson and the likes...
Go for it Darbar Bhaiyaad...Cheers :salute

That said, full of sympathy for Harshul Patel....dude had fab figures of 4 ov 3/13 - magnificient figures...but for that last over in which he ran into an exploding volcano ...ah the cruelty of the game and the format....what a leveler it is....

'One guy completely beat us': RCB captain Virat Kohli admits Ravindra Jadeja single-handedly won game for CSK

IPL 2021: Ravindra Jadeja left everyone shell-shocked when he helped CSK from 117/3 in 15 overs to 191/4 in 20 overs. Jadeja smashed 37 runs in the final over of the innings, against current Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel, and finished unbeaten on 62 off 28 balls.

Virat Kohli admitted that his side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were single-handedly beaten by Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in match 19 of IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. (IPL 2021 Full Coverage)

Jadeja left everyone shell-shocked when he helped CSK from 117/3 in 15 overs to 191/4 in 20 overs. Jadeja smashed 37 runs in the final over of the innings, against current Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel, and finished unbeaten on 62 off 28 balls.

In the second half, Jadeja rocked RCB's chase with an exceptional spell of 3/14 in 4 overs, which included the key wickets of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers.

Speaking on Star Sports during the presentation ceremony, Kohli said: "One guy completely beat us. Today his skill was there for everyone to see. He (Harshal Patel) bowled well and we will continue to back him. His two wickets of the set batters took the momentum away from CSK before Jaddu took it away in the final over."

Kohli also added that he is looking forward to sharing the dressing room with in-form all-rounder Jadeja, when the two regroup to play for India in about two months' time.

"His (Jadeja) ability has been there for everyone to see. I am very happy to see him perform with the bat, ball, and on the field. After two months, he will be back playing for India and it is always a pleasure to see your premier all-rounder do well with the bat. When he plays well and is confident, it lets out many opportunities," Kohli said.

RCB suffered their first defeat of the season after winning their first four and allowed CSK to displace them from the top of the standings. However, Kohli revealed that this result is good feedback for his side and that they are looking at it the right way.

CSK's next assignment is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 28. On the other hand, RCB locks horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, on April 27.

I guess ever since then he has never looked back! That comment from the ugly guy irked him and brought the best out of him till date! If he was supported in WC SF he would have probably got us home!

It seems as if the innings from the World Cup Semi-Final 2019 has totally changed Jadeja as a player and his game, especially his batting. From being quite a good-ish player, he has now, ever since that day, become a serious threat for the opposition. He even tonked Australia in Australia recently in an ODI and a T20I game, the latter of which was a brilliant innings which I happened to watch live. I think that one good innings on a big stage can do that to you. MS Dhoni too, from being a very good ODI batsman, become a world-beater within one night after doing that thing in Wankhede on 2nd April, 2011. Something similar seems to be happening with Jadeja. Also, a look deep into his eyes tells me that he perhaps enjoys being undermined and under-reckoned like this. He enjoys being not taken that seriously by the opposition, fans and experts alike. I somehow get this feeling.

All the fun and trolling aside, it is well documented in this thread itself that I´ve been an admirer of the guy right from early 2013 or so, from the home Test series against Australia, I remember. A good cricketer whom I´ve always wished well. It may not be easy for me to conclude, in one go, as to who the best batsman or the best bowler is from amongst the ones that I´ve seen play, but I can safely say that Ravindra Jadeja is, yes, is, the best fielder that I´ve seen in my entire lifetime. Well, I couldn´t have paid the man a better tribute than this. Well done, Jaddu!

Also, time for some light-hearted trolling....

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then Jadeja wins" - Mahatma Gandhi.

Never did I thought in 2013 that some day, he will become this good.

Jadeja is a GOLD standard player in Indian team.

Will never forget the Champions trophy 2017 final when Fakhar took him to the cleaners.

Very important knock today

Crazy how his spot is under fire still.

Him and Ashwin should both play unless extreme conditions

All-rounders with batting average of 35+ and bowling average under 25.

1. Imran khan
2. Ravindra Jadeja

Best test allrounder since Jacques Kallis. He is second best spinner in the world after Ashwin, yet his batting is extremely reliable. Jadeja is perhaps the most valuable player in Indian test team atm.

A complete all-rounder in test cricket.

Averages 35 with bat and 24 with bowl.

Earlier, you could make an argument that he doesn't play many away games so his stats is inflated but given the number of overseas tests India has played in last couple of years and will play till next year time or so, he is playing enough away games too.

He has been the most valuable player in test cricket for some time now.

Always kinda passes under the radar in the discussion about all rounders because he doesn't make centuries. He is easily the best all rounder in test cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja became the fifth fastest cricketer in the world to score 2000 runs and get 200 wickets in Tests. Jadeja got to 2000 runs on Day 3 of the India-England first Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Friday.

Jadeja completed the 2000 runs and 200 wicket combo in just 53 Tests. The ones who are ahead of him are England’s Ian Botham (42 Tests), India’s Kapil Dev (50 Tests), Pakistan’s Imran Khan (50 Tests) and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (51 Tests).

The left-hander, who was preferred over Ashwin in this Test match, is also only the fifth Indian after Kapil, Kumble, Harbhajan and Ashwin to score more than 2000 Test runs and claim 200 wickets.

Coming in to at No.7, Jadeja (27*) stitched an unbroken 46-run stand with opener KL Rahul (77*) to take India to 191 for 5 at lunch on Day 3 with a slender lead of 8 runs.

England took just one wicket in another rain-interrupted session, Rishabh Pant falling for 25.

India, following a second day cut short by bad weather, resumed on 125-4 after England great Anderson took two wickets with successive deliveries -- including a golden duck for India captain Virat Kohli.

That moved Anderson into joint third place in the list of all-time leading Test bowlers as he equalled retired India leg-spinner Anil Kumble's tally of 619 wickets.

Rahul, however, was still there on 57 not out after only being recalled to open when Mayank Agarwal was ruled out having been hit on the head batting in the nets on Monday.

But he should have been out for 52 when he edged Anderson only for Dom Sibley to drop a routine catch at second slip.

Left-hander Pant, seven not out overnight thrashed Anderson's fifth ball of the day through extra cover with a flourish for a typically aggressive four only for rain to then stop play for nearly an hour.

When play resumed, Rahul and Anderson were involved in an onfield row.

Rahul, with light rain falling, headed towards the pavilion because he thought the match should be halted again, prompting an angry response from Anderson, before umpire Michael Gough made it clear to the players that they were staying on the field.

Pant, meanwhile, continued to play his natural game, top-edging a six over fine leg off Ollie Robinson.

But Robinson, whose dismissal of Rohit Sharma had sparked India's collapse from 97-0, had his revenge when Pant mistimed a drive straight to short cover, with India now 145-5.

Rahul, already involved in the run-out of Ajinkya Rahane, nearly condemned Jadeja to a similar fate when he pushed Robinson into the covers and set off for a reckless single.

But Dan Lawrence missed with a shy at the stumps when he had time to throw the ball to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.

Stuart Broad, six years to the day since he took a stunning 8-15 in an Ashes Test against Australia at Trent Bridge, his Nottinghamshire home ground, came on as first-change Friday.

Broad thought he had Rahul, on 70, edging to Buttler and unleashed one of his trademark 'celebration appeals'.

But umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled in Rahul's favour and England used their last review of the innings trying to overturn a verdict upheld by replay technology.
