[VIDEOS] Will Babar Azam ruin Saim Ayub at Peshawar Zalmi?

Superb knock. Needs to be blooded in to the side with Huraira too... about time we get rid of the TTFs

Well he did look like a Baqri today against MS with the bat
Bro you're better than this, you're being disrespectful to Pakistan's best all format batsman. If saim is good he can show at no.3 also.

If Babar is good he can show it at number 3 as well can he not??

You dont understand my anger at this man!

I've been saying since the start of domestic season that Saim is the most talented player in domestic and its good to see him showing his worth. Was insanely impressive in T20 & List A. A bit of up & downs in FC but the talent is clear.

I figured he would be opening for Peshawar but I don't mind him at #3 either and it will good for him to develop his skills with minimal or no PP utilization. Having that flexibility and different skill sets is always useful.

Saim is a better batter against pace than Spin. The no look shot was incredible.

Down to Saim - he has to score runs and cannot make no 3 position an excuse.

Babar Azam in an interview:

"Saim Ayub is a brilliant and impactful player. What I liked about him is that he has improved his batting technique compared to his previous year's performance. As a player, he is confident, so I was happy to see him batting"

“His performances will benefit not only him but also the team because, as a youngster, if you play under pressure, no matter the scenario, your batting automatically improves"

Pick the kid

Ruin the kid

Haiku for Babar Azam

That is just pure bias. Coming in at number 3 you have more than enough time. If you can not make it, then you are not good enough. No one told him to get bowled to a part time off spinner.

Seems like he struggles a bit against spin. Definitely room for improvement

Saim has not lasted more than 5 balls in 3 of the 4 innings. Had got nothing to do with his batting position especially when he has come with plenty of overs to bat .

Apparently he will become Tendulkar if he opens.

He isn't a part time spinner.

The foundation had been laid by the PZ openers.

The rest of the batters including Saim made a total mess of the innings.

They should have got close to 200 against Islamabad.

Doing well Saim under Babar. Could well win the game tonight, some scintillating shots.

Classy innings. Good half century. Hope he can build on this for the rest of the tourney. Been inconsistent so far.

There's absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be opening instead of Babar for PZ. He would make far better use of the powerplay with his timing.

If he can develop his power hitting this guy will be seriously good.

Not sure he'll be ready for the 2023 World Cup but I think he will be for the 2024 WT20.

Agree with that but Babar is not the type who comes under the selfless bracket.

I think we need to be careful with the likes of Saim.

Yes give them opportunities but don't throw them into international cricket too soon.

I look at the likes of Saim and compare to TKC and there's still some work to be done.

This. A million times THIS.

In Pakistan, our cricketing fraternity prides ourselves on throwing youngsters into the deep end. Because, look at Wasim Akram! Look at Inzi! Look at Shaheen! Look at Amir!

Great.

A grand total of 4 truly outstanding players, in 30+ years, who never went through the honing of first class cricket, and still became successes. 4, in 30 years.

In Pakistan cricket, we are the unchallenged champions of sabotaging the development of talented young cricketers, by debuting them too early, seeing them found out and then them being put into a cycle of being discarded and re-picked. There are too many players to name who have stunted their development because of this very reason.

A recent example, a cautionary tale of a great talent whose development was utterly decimated is Haider Ali. In bowling you can see Hasnain as well.

Thus, if we truly, truly want to properly develop Saim, he has to play lots more domestic cricket, both in Pakistan and abroad.

I hope and pray he doesn’t get picked for Pakistan, but with this new selection committee, who knows?

Babar is so committed to the development of his youngsters he's getting out early to give them more balls to face.

Who says he's a selfish player? :inti

Babar not giving opening position to young stars even in league cricket. What a selfish player he is. Even kohli batted at different positions according to the requirements of the team even he has goat numbers playing at number 3.

He has far too many holes in his technique and temperament to be consider for national team , atleast two years away. I hope he doesn’t become another Shahid Yousuf who looked million bucks but sadly remain a 30 avg player in domestic cricket throughout his career.

Saim is in a different class than TKC. He has already handled ihsanullah and Shaheen better than anyone else this tournament.

And I’d rather see Saim in national colors than continue with Shan Masood.

Some T20 batters have impressed a lot. Players like Haris, Saim Ayub and Azam Khan should be part of the T20 national squad. Rizwan can open with Haris, Saim Ayub to play one down and Babar can play in middle order with Iftikhar while Azam Khan can be the finisher with Imad/Nawaz/Shadab and bowlers to follow.

We should stop talking about SHan masood, Sarfraz, Malik or Hafeez being part of T20 team.

You should want to see Saim Ayub in national colours if you absolutely hate Saim Ayub.

All of that is correct except for Saim. Fakhar plays at 3. Saim needs more time in domestic cricket, including letting his body develop.

forgot about Fakhar. Agree with you. Saim can still be part of the team of 14 and play if required

Credit to Babar to pushing Saim up to open. Well done.

Credit to Babar to pushing Saim up to open. Well done.

Credit for what?

It was a forced move. Just like the Harris inclusion into the World Cup XI v South Africa. Babar only reacts when he is really shoved into a corner due to his stupid tactics

So the moment he opens, he plays one of the best knocks in the PSL!

2 sixes to Rashid Khan
21 runs against Sikander Raza
Creaming Shaheen for boundaries again

Babar is an absolute tyrant! He knew what Saim was capable of as an opener and was purposely keeping out of the opening spot in order to save his own mediocrity

Finally they let him open.....the results were there to see.

The let him open because of Shaheen. They wanted a left-hand batsman.

Exactly

It was a forced move. Not because Babar realised that he is actually an opener and not a number 3

Agreed. Babar is so damn stubborn

The best young batters in the tournament all seem to be at PZ. Saim, Haris, now Haseebullah. Someone is doing something right selection-wise at Peshawar, this is what the league should be about.

If Babar wanted to he could have still kept him at 3 but he didn't so he should still get some credit.

Heard a few Commentators mention that they were reminded of Saeed Anwar

best young batters with Peshawar, while best young bowlers with Multan

Hope we see them in the green shirt soon. Let's just dump them in and see if they can swim..

Yes, as long as there is no proper system for grooming young talent, it's just better to throw them in. Bestides the step up from PSL to international cricket is not that big either.

The system is much better than it used to be for white ball..the red ball is another story.

May as well give them a shot..does anyone know if they have played first class cricket?

difficult to play all of them at once. I would want Ihsanullah and Zaman Khan be given a chance. Zaman Khan's death bowling is next level. But i dont think he will get selected as his speed i think isnt at 140plus which has become the criteria to play for Pakistan.

In batting, Saim Ayub is a gem, so lets deevelop him further through first class and A tours. Azam Khan can be thrown in even though the fitness issue is there.

Look we have Harris in the national team, so give him a full chance before either of haseeb or saim are thrown in aswell

The happiest day of my life will be to see Babar realising he cannot open, and has to drop down to 3 or in the middle somewhere

It will be like Dominic Cummings resignation from the prime minister’s cabinet!

Decent grasp of English. Will improve further as he comes into the National side. Future captain

Clearly enjoys playing with Babar, and is improving day by day.

I stick by this

I would think Babar would be exposed at 3.

If, Fakhar and Saim are selected for the Nation Team. Babar would not have the strike rate of a #3 batter. We would see 120 SR 20 and his average will plunge to Shan levels.

So he’s misusing power isn’t he? He is destroying the careers of proper openers to save his own isn’t he?

Rather have him out of the team. Him changing his batting position will be so negative too.

Saim and Fakhar deserve the opening slot by merit.

Babar is 30 and out of form. He should take retirement.

Thing we have to bear in mind is that the intl team will be facing world class bowlers and not the soda bowlers and retirees to which we've just witnessed.

Babar still has place in the Pak side but which spot is best for him, is open to discussion but can't see him relinquishing his opening spot.

Id say its a pretty sad life if something like this would make it the happiest

If babar is to play t20s for pakistan hez gonna have to open The best players in limited format usually do They bat and bat long

Babar Azam in presser:

“Saim is playing outstanding cricket throughout the tournament. The best part is that he is improving day by day. He doesn't slacken his grip after two or more innings. The way he is learning new things day by day and improving continuously is commendable. As a captain, of course, I have my eye on Saim and all other young players who have been performing deftly this season because, at the end of the day, we have to keep Pakistan on our top-most priority,"

He has started well but these are GUN barrel straight batting conditions with boundaries being brought it. We should not hype him based on these performances and let him improve slowly in domestic.

Alot if pitches are flat even in odis.

Saim doing well under Babar.

52*(30) so far and looks like he will get more

Babar just announced he will open against New Zealand C team with Rizwan

So what was the point of giving Saim and Harris that tough gig against Farooqi and Omarzai??? So Saim will bat at 3 or 4 now?? What about the guys who have worked hard for Pakistan in these positions???

Sensible decision after all they were the leading runs scorers evident from PSL. These guys should have worked harder and scored more then them which they didn’t.

If Saim is good, he will stand out as number 3 or 4 as well and then work his way up the order.

Dil se Baddua hai

He will fail at 3 and 4 or wherever Babar wants to adjust him to save his own position. And then Saim will be forgotten and discarded

I really want this to happen now

Why would he fail? He can be our SKY.

Why would he fail? He can be our SKY.

Why should he be our Sky when he should be our Smith, Gilchrist, Hayden, Trescothic, Dhawan, DeQock or any great left handed opener in the history of the game?

Why can’t you people understand the damage that is being caused by Babar? What is wrong with you?

You people, who supported Misbah’s vision have seen Pakistan’s best white ball batsman (Fakhar Zaman) ruined and destroyed

Now you people have hopes for Saim to become SKY.

For once. Do not delete my posts on the truth! You’ve silenced me enough. You can go back and revisit all of those posts that were deleted over the years and reflect on how true they were even back then.

This will age too.

Simply because with Babar at the top we are competitive. And Babar hasn't even hit his prime age yet. Why can't you see the obvious
