How many of you feel that he can do it? :therock

200 Vs West Indies in West Indies
211 Vs New Zealand in INdore
235 Vs England in Mumbai
205 Vs Bangladesh in Hyderabad

xxx Vs Australia in India????

Also predict Virat's highest score in this series... Lets see who comes close. I predict 207 :kohli2

I predict 2 doubles from him this series....4 match series in India against Australia! A lot of indian centuries coming up

Virat will get a triple. However, I don't see him as a player who plays for personal records and he's very much got an Imran Khan-esque approach where the team and winning is paramount. However, he might get a triple if India bat first and lose a couple of early cheap wickets.

Lol and than you people saying he hasn't achieved anything in tests.

He'll get more than 1 century in this series

Virat's highest score this series will be around 150. He wont score a double.

Just a random guess. No calculations.

Should be a walk in the park for him at home, the best FTB in history; take it as a compliment @ the fangirls , such runs are very valuable

So much bitterness... lol...

calm down... he might never score another double 100 again.

Scoring 200's is not easy

If this pitch is an indication, I don't see any batsman scoring a 200 this series.

I feel Starc has got his number. Don't see him scoring much this series though I hope I am wrong

Exactly. This looks like a pitch out of the Ind-SA series and we all know how that turned out for the batsmen, before the dead rubber that was played on a flatter pitch.

This one is slightly different though. So far, the spin doesn't seem impossible to handle. Pacers with the older ball could pose the biggest threat.

Oh yeah? I haven't seen the match so I'm going by what people have said and all indication is that this is a rank turner. Let's see what happens tomorrow on day 2.

When Younis Khan scores double tons in the UAE = FTB!!!

When Younis Khan scores a double ton overseas = Still FTB!! UAE khan!

When Virat scores double ton at Home: ATG!

Well, I'm a huge Kohli fan and don't like YK much either, but double standards have to be pointed out.

These home tons won't excite me unless he can do something overseas.

Averages 62 in Australia, 72 in NZ and 68 in South Africa.

YK won't be labelled a HTB if he had a similar record away.

Going by stats, YK has a pretty good record overseas. Kohli has yet to prove himself against lateral movement.

Doesn't make him a HTB like the poster above claimed, does it?

Most cricket ATGs have had problems somewhere. Ponting was rubbish in India, Waqar was beyond pathetic in India and extremely poor in Australia.. but they are both regarded as ATGs. So I don't see why we need to set the standard so high for Kohli.

He's highlighting the double standards not discrediting Kohli's statistical achievements.

I'm glad you started quoting numbers.

Younis Khan averages ~51 in Australia, ~51 in England, 43 in New Zealand.

And this is over 200 friggin' innings of a sample set. Do you NOW understand the logic and hypocrisy? WAIT... you're the same one I was referring to!

And fell in the trap. :najam

Will you now start praising YK too and have a single standard?

I'm glad you got it but Zak had a comprehension fail.

There are no double standards at play. Kohli failed in England but that was when he was pretty much a rookie at Test level, but he has come a long way since and has watertight technique now, as well as incredible mental application.

He is the most complete batsman in the game today by some distance. The closest competitor is Root but he is well behind in the mental aspect of the game at the moment, hopeful he will get into the zone with the added challenge of captaincy, which has worked wonders for Kohli.

Younis on the other hand, is a veteran of 100+ Tests and 16 years. Yet, he has never been good enough to score against lateral movement and has never been able to dominate pace. The way Kohli got on top of the Australian bowling and scored 4 hundreds in 4 matches is something Younis can't dream of doing, and the way he averaged 4 on the green-tops in New Zealand few months back sums up his technique, which cannot be modified at this stage of his career.

Kohli is twice the batsman Younis ever was and ever will be. He belongs in the league of Tendulkar, Lara and Ponting, and Younis cannot tie shoelaces of these batsmen. He is a B grade player.

Kohli is far ahead of Younis . I agree with Mamoon.

He is different breed

What? Aren't you using a wrong thread to prove your point? I have no knowledge of YK's record, nor did I ever call him a HTB, so I don't know how I have been trapped or proven a hypocrite here.

I could only go by what your post implied, and I corrected you on the part I knew was incorrect.

All stats aside, who would in their right mind choose Younis over Kohli in any format in any country? Kohli is mentally and technically so much tougher.

Umm.

We aren't comparing who is a better Test batsman.

The point is - inflating your stats at home series after series makes some players look bad, they're termed as FTBs and ridiculed.

While having the double standards - we end up praising those "we" like even if they're scoring such soft runs at home.
