A shocking case has surfaced from Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam where a 63-year-old man allegedly set himself on fire after Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s poor performance on day 1 of the first test between India and South Africa in Cape Town.
Babulal Berva was watching the match with much anticipation, but to his dismay, Kohli was dismissed just for five runs. Berva then picked up a can of kerosene oil and poured it over his face, police state. He has suffered around 50 to 60 percent burns.
Berva, a retired Railways employee, was rushed to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment under critical care. The police have recorded his statement as well as his family's statement.
Kohli has long struggled with the moving deliveries on the 'fourth stump'. Bits of it were seen in the forgetful England series in 2014 and then again in both of the Australia series in 2017. And on Friday, Morkel knocked in just at Kohli's weak point. A back of the length outswinger placed well outside off and the 29-year-old with a needless effort, poked the delivery. The ball nicked off the edge of his willow and was comfortably taken by Quinton de Kock behind the stumps.
Top order collapsed as India went down 28 for three at the end of the day 1 of the first Test. Much of it was same on the second day as well. South Africa pace brigade ruptured some of the past collectors of appreciations until young Hardik Pandya's brilliant 93 helped the visitors cross the 200-run mark. India ceased at 209, trailing still then by 77 runs at the end of the second day.
