"Virat Kohli is a great example to Umar Akmal" : Aakash Chopra

He is averaging more than sharma and raina inspite of batting for a weak line up

Rainas strike rate is amazing and he has won india so many matches..

Akmal always succumbs under pressure.

raina has seven seasons of ipl under his belt plus a strong batting order. Not a fair comparison

Pakistani batting line up is always collapsing so I doubt Umar is that perfect to perform every time. Raina don't have to bat under situations Umar Akmal bats and with him coming at 6 he has only Afridi to bat with followed by the worst tail while Raina has more reliable Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Kumar. Give credit where it's due dude..

You started this comparison.

I only spoke about his average. He is averaging more than guys with as much talent in a stronger batting line up. Not their success under pressure

The chances of Raina coming to bat in a situation like 100/5 is like 1 out of 100 while it almost 70-80 out of 100 for Umar Akmal.

Akmal averaging onlly 31against non minnows in last 2.5 years.

Gets out mostly in powerplays over.

Cant be a middle order

Cant be a finisher

He is a confused fellow.

You haven't answered about the fact that he is batting for a weak batting side but continue your hating on Akmal and satisfy the parosees.

In a weak batting lineup lara averaged 50 plus.. chanderpaul averaging 50 plus.. thats a bad excuse.

He doesnt get out bcoz of weak batting lineup.. he throws it away if you actually watch match you would know that. He never takes responsibility.. nothing to do with a weak batting lineup.

Do they average 50 plus in ODI cricket? You are now expecting him to match Lara? I have mostly seen him bat in pressure situations where the team is chasing a big total and the team has lost early wickets and he is losing partners, I would rather he plays his natural game as opposed to a notorious other player who just stays at the wicket, does nothing but play for his average and brings the opposition back into the game.

I keep hearing that Kohli is a home track bully - that's utter nonsense.

5 of Kohli's 8 Test hundreds have been outside India.
His 4 highest Test scores have been outside India.
Home track bully - No !

He makes the most of excellent batting conditions, something which cannot be said about most of our batsmen.

It is too late for Umar Akmal he is a lost case. It is not all his fault but the whole cricket infrastructure in Pakistan is not tailored to groom batsmen to the next level barring the odd few like Younis Khan

Virat Kohli is an example to Umar Akmal the same way Ferrari 458 is an example to Toyota Corolla #KohliexampletoAkmal

Even in 2014... Umar Akmal was being egged on to improve himself.

Does Aakash chopra really know and watch cricket

I don't think he has a cricketing brain....
Picks his odi eleven... And to my surprise some of the players included are not able to get place in their own national team... His squad is:
Aakash Chopra’s current ODI XI: Rohit Sharma, Shai Hope (WK), Virat Kohli, Ross Taylor, Eoin Morgan (Capt.), Shakib Al Hasan, Ben Stokes, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Lockie Ferguson, Babar Azam (12th man)
Surprised Babar 12th man... No Root, no Williamson.... And Shami who hardly gets chance.....
This proves how successful chief selector will he be for India.....

That’s a fantastic team. Ross Taylor > Kane Williamson recently.

Only question mark is on Eoin Morgan and Shami.

How is Morgan a question mark? He is a World Cup winning captain, England's leading run-scorer in ODI cricket and also happens to be in the form of his life. Last year he averaged 52 with a strike-rate of 112. Those are insane numbers that only someone from his own team can top.

If anyone should be there its Buttler. Root as an ODI batsman is good but nothing special. If he was dropped from the team he could be easily replaced by Hales. Whereas, Taylor is sometimes just as important as Williamson, if not more. The only real surprise is Shai Hope who although talented does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as all these other players. He is nowhere near being a fully-formed batsman yet. He has serious strike rotation issues and the tendency to play clusters of dot balls. Also, why would anyone choose Hope over Roy, Finch, Warner, Bairstow, Dhawan, de Kock, Guptill?
