Virat Kohli suffers first series whitewash as captain as New Zealand seal 7-wicket win in 2nd Test

But the criteria as per OP was no loss in 10 years.

Don’t agree. I think criterion should be beat every side once At home and atleast draw away test series against everyone if not win outright over 10 year period. Both Aussie and WI did that.

India have already lost to SA and Eng in their
Recent away tours

I agree with your criteria. India is noway near the ATG Aussie or Windies teams and not even the most die-hard Indian fan would deny that.

South Africa of 2006-2015 won everywhere as well apart from India, where they drew two series( 2008 and 2010, both times 1-1).

Lol Nichols seems nervous

But not cool From virat. I see this as throwing in the towel

Dont think they beat Aus at home tho.

Regardless I do consider them among the 3rd best team of all time along with Pakistan 80s team from eras I’ve followed and studied (1975 onwards)

Congratulations Newzealand!

Congratulations Kiwis for whitewashing India after the horrible run in Australia. Bowled and batted really well and schooled Indians how to play test cricket in these conditions.Thoroughly deserved series win.

The GOAT Aussie team murdered teams home and away. They are called GOAT for a reason.

Stupid people who know little about the game call this Indian team GOAT.

To be called GOAT, you have to win home and away and not lose any Test series for 10 years.

Goat aussie team will get butchered in India though. You have to beat the GOAT home bullies of all time to be the true GOAT.

Again, India always have struggled in n.z even with sachin and other personnel.

We will bounce back I am sure. Good learning experience for the young guns of india.

congrats n.z. well played. thoroughly deserved. Great test series. Great pitches. Brilliant performance by n.z. Out played india.

not pakistan. They lacked wins. 14 wins is not enough.

Yeah I reckon it will be Australia vs India final with India winning it. India are still favorites

I can't wait to tour australia. This result will have no bearing on the outcome of that series. You guys will learn about it soon.

England please come to india. We are waiting for you.

14 is Imran khans wins. Javed captained to similar number in same time too.

But yes I agree that side didn’t have the ruthlessness but were damn hard to beat.

I think current India team is GOAT team in Asia whereas the 80s Pakistan team is GOAT Asian team away

Great series win but we're like everybody else away.

Would only be massive if we could put together performances like this away.

that's fair. But results wise wasn't 2006-2011 india better away from home?

Time for Wagner to be dropped and play Ferguson instead and the team is going to win 9 out of 10 matches.

We need to sweep Pakistan and Bangladesh to be in the hunt for the WTC.

We have WI at home too.

Pakistan at home and Bangladesh away will be tough though.

India should be a tad nervous because it's not a difficult schedule, all we need to do is win.

Spark Sports better get Ian Smith.

It's not the summer of cricket without him.

Man idk if I even want us to qualify.

I can't take more heartbreak.

It's the hope that kills you.

I just realized NZ actually have a pretty good chance here. Their opponents are relatively easy (BD, West Indies, and Pakistan).

Pakistan would've been a tough opponent if game was in Pakistan/UAE but Kiwis should beat them at home.

Aus will hammer us like they always do.

Probably would be better off not qualifying and letting India take the phainty in our place. That way everyone can meme them rather than feel sorry for us.

Yeah 2019 World Cup final must have been hard on you, but that was the best final I have ever seen in cricket :bobs

man you guys really need to get over the mental block vs Aussies. They aren't that good. Just home bullies. Yea they can win SENA because the conditions in SENA are similar to their home grounds. Winning in Asia is harder for them.

Vice versa for india.

Well done, NZ. Deserving winners.

Congratulations.

As for us, what can I say!

Kohli has to be stripped of captaincy in all formats, won't happen though. His ego is too big to take it lying down.

We desperately need our best batsman back.

How come Rahane is still part of India's test team, is beyond me! He has been dire for 3-4 years, if not more. One more player, playing on a very distant past reputation.

Rahane is gareebon ka Rahul Dravid. He should be kicked. :inti

Well done NZ! Aman Your boys completely exposed us. What a disastrous tour this has been. Jamieson was the difference imo. Gotta take it on the chin and move on.

This is what you call an epic phainta! Utterly humiliated.

India had 4 wickets in the bag when day 3 started, they were leading by 97 runs and there was still hope that the lower order would drag the lead to close to 200. However, on a surface which was assisting the seamers, the hosts took only 47 minutes to take the four remaining wickets. Then the openers added 103 runs for the first wicket and this helped them take the match by 7 wickets.

Speaking at the end of the match, the skipper said that his side was not able to execute the right plans and that, the batsmen failed to step up and get the runs.

“I think it was a matter of not having enough intent in the first game. We played well in the first innings here with the bat. It was a combination of us not having the right kind of execution and New Zealand playing well. Batsmen didn’t do enough for the bowlers to attack. It’s disappointing as a side when the batsmen don’t back up the effort of the bowlers,” he said.

“We need to go back, understand what went wrong and move forward. We are not a side that thinks about the result of the toss. We are not going to take excuses from this tour, just the learning. In the ODIs it was good to see the youngsters stepping up with Rohit not being available and me not getting runs. We need to accept we were not good enough, take it on the chin and move on,” he further added.

With this win, New Zealand pocketed all the 120 points which were on offer in the ICC World Test Championship points table. They now have 180 points and are placed at the third position. India, with 360 points, are still placed at the top of the points table.

Can't even rub it in because Indians have been gracious in defeat. That and our own pathetic performances away from home.

Rahane and Pujara are still much better than the over hyped youngster beauties in Pant, Shaw, Gill.

There is no other choice left anyway. Some of them were pretty arrogant before this tour when I predicted NZ to win this test series. :inti

Captain Kane Williamson is a happy man having overseen a stunning turnaround for New Zealand who returned bruised from the Test tour of Australia before India added to their wounds with a 5-0 clean sweep in T20Is.

New Zealand recovered from the T20I thrashing by returning the favour in a three-match ODI series which they won 3-0 but would have been more satisfied beating the world’s top-ranked Test side in a 2-0 clean sweep.

“A fantastic series from outside and the way the guys stuck in,”Williamson said during the post-match presentation. “India are a world-class side and to beat them is quite satisfying. Outstanding feeling. Fairly sporting surfaces in both Tests. Bowlers had to put it in the right areas, but this pitch played well on all the days, even though history suggests it flattens out after doing a bit initially.”

India were bundled for 124 in their second dig in second test in Christchurch thus setting New Zealand 132 to win which they achieved for the loss of three wickets. Williamson said the scoreline might suggest it to be a one-sided contest but it wasn’t. “I don’t think the end result shows how tight that match was. We saw how many times the ball beat the bat,” he said.

He added, “The guys had to be disciplined, and the wicket was doing enough, but the fast outfields did allow runs, and it was important to hang in there. A few heavy learning curves, a few good bits in this summer, but these are all part of it. You’re always trying to improve and the two games here have been opportunities to learn too.”

Kyle Jamieson, who took a five-wicket haul apart from scoring 49 runs in the first innings, was chosen as the player-of-the-match. Williamson praised his effort saying it has been a ‘great progress’ for the tall fast bowler who made his Test debut during the series.

“Jamieson’s a very exciting talent, and contributed incredibly well with both bat and ball in both games. He’s tall and gets bounce which is very helpful in these conditions. The runs he scored in the backend of both games were very valuable. Great progress for him,” he said.

i said it before. We have a chance to beat n.z if we win the toss. We will compete hard if we lose the toss but it's most likely for a losing cause. We lost both tosses.

No guarantee we could have won had we won the toss but definitely a better chance.

New Zealand have an excellent chance of getting to the test championship final. Their next 3 series are winnable. Also same with England.

India and Australia are probably still the favourites. But can't rule out England and New Zealand.

Would be interesting to see who gets the boot after this performances

My predictions:

Gill (for not carrying water bottles properly)
Shaw (to make space for Rohit)
Vihari (not aggressive enough, need Rahane at home)
Pant (Saha in home Tests and again Pant overseas, rinse and repeat)
Saini

Rahane,Pujara will stay

Congrats Aman and Space Cat for the thrashing you gave us.

Aman's NZ best bet would be to face India in the finals at Lords.

Australia would be the last team they would want to play.

Personally, will like to watch India Vs Aus or Ind Vs NZ in finals. NZ Vs Aus will be too one-sided. Even as neutral, you don't want a final like that.
