What's new

Virat Kohli's ODI average by country

do indian's even care about averages in sri lanka? i thought series in srilanka are snooze fest and no one really bothered to show up from the fans ... turns out virat doesn't care much for them either :P

actually Kohli is found out in Srilanka. he doesn't have technique to counter there.

We have reached a point where Kohli fans need to stop being defensive about people undermining him. Kohli is already in ATG league and a few trolls aren't going to change that.

Another epic post that is worth savoring ....

BTW anyone notice the stats sophistry in this post ? Also the claim that Kohli is not even in the top 5 ODI batsman .... :91:

In an era of tons of pointless bilateral ODIs, what really sets batsmen apart are their performances in multi team tournaments where every match right until the final has much more meaning than the bilaterals with the NRR in the equation as well.

Virat Kohli's stats in tournaments of 3 teams or more against the Top 6 teams:

Meanwhile, Steven Smith, a batsman considered as a vastly inferior ODI batsman to Kohli has these performances in that regard:

It's hilarious really. Kohli is nowhere even Smith as an ODI batsman on the basis of performances in matches that actually matter. Kohli can score hundreds upon hundreds and average 300 in all of these useless bilaterals but as soon as the pressure of a tournament is on, the golden boy CHOKES. Not even one of the Top 5 ODI batsmen of this generation. The hype is just so so unwarranted.

Kohli being an ATG ODI batsman is not even debatable now.

The only debate is whether he can have a GOAT ODI career by dominating in the 2019 and 2023 WC.

And what exactly in this post been refuted in the recent India-SA series? Yeah right.. NOTHING. Stop being obsessed over the numbers that don't show your beloved Kohli in good light. :))

Keep up the good work brother. People will yet come to the light.

And where in my post did I claim that te recent series has anything to do with me responding to your EPIC post ? :)

Here is the reason why that post is worth savoring :

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...rnament_type=3;tournament_type=5;type=batting

Based on your mahan criteria the likes of Faf, Mahmudullah, Misbah ( lolz) >> Everyone else :)))

Secondly If EVERY match is soo important in these tournaments (as you loudly proclaim in your untiring effort to get Bilaterals excuded) why have you excluded BD and WI ? I suppose because they are not worthy ? If so please enlighten us how BD managed to get to the KO stages of more than one tournament.

There is more but for now this shall be enough to see you run for the door just like you did earlier in this thread before the BUMP.

That doesn't refute my point in the slightest. It actually enforces it :)). Many all time greats are unsurprisingly at the top of the list while Kohli is barely in the low 40s. And why would you discount Misbah an Mahmudullah's performances in Tournaments? Obviously they've performed much better in tournaments than Kohli which is a fact. It reflects more on how they are underrated rather than on Kohli.

I actually presented Kohli's KO stats including BD and WI but obviously you won't post them since it doesn't suit your narrative.

Cute coming from the guy who ran away from the Australia of the 2000s thread after making posts like "Australia of 2017 was almost as good as Australia of 2004" and that " Choosing the better team is a matter of opinion" :)) :)).

look what happens after BD and WI are included ... Virat Kohli above Viv Richards , Lara , Ponting and Tendulkar ( and so are Faf , Misbah lol and Mahmudullah )

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...rnament_type=3;tournament_type=5;type=batting

Now what are you going to do to get out of this pickle ? Your own stats going against you :))

He is doing well playing at top of his game! Needs a few Muhammad Amir deliveries to send him back to the pavilion early:amir3 We know our lad has his number!

You do realize that I said about stats in KO games in the last post, right? Also, comparing the numbers during Viv and Lara's time to today when 300 is the par score? Yeah that's a reach :)).

AND YOU do realize that Your post from August 22 has stats with the same filters minus BD AND WI ? :))

Now that the usual suspects have quietly slipped away from this thread ... here is Kohli's Away , Home , Neutral record :

Away:

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...;home_or_away=2;template=results;type=batting

85 inngs 4K runs at 57 Avg 91 SR 17 Hundreds (atleast 1 each in each country)

Home :

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...;home_or_away=1;template=results;type=batting

76 inngs 3.8K runs at 58 Avg 94 SR 14 Hundreds

Neutral :

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...;home_or_away=3;template=results;type=batting

39 inngs 1741 runs at 60 avg 89 SR 4 Hundreds

A very consistent and great record all around but no our fans cant be happy with this ... :91:

Come again when he scores in CT final against PAK on Father's day, until then he is nothing player, every other PAK player has similar stats like him, you can find player like Kohli in every gully and every mohalla in PAK, you just do not know because they do not get chances in national team......

BUMP

AND YOU do realize that Your post from August 22 has stats with the same filters minus BD AND WI ? :))

No Response ? I think I know why though ... this is what happens when you get checkmated by our own stats and theories such as this gem :91:

In an era of tons of pointless bilateral ODIs, what really sets batsmen apart are their performances in multi team tournaments where every match right until the final has much more meaning than the bilaterals with the NRR in the equation as well

Guess what turns out that Kohli is one of only 6 batsmen to avg above 50.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...rnament_type=3;tournament_type=5;type=batting

Remove Ban and WI and the average crashes to 41, making Kohli 12th amongst players who played in the 2000s and beyond. You sure you're not proving my point here? :))

Hold on ... who said these Epic words ? you or me ?

In an era of tons of pointless bilateral ODIs, what really sets batsmen apart are their performances in multi team tournaments where every match right until the final has much more meaning than the bilaterals with the NRR in the equation as well.

Another thread exit incoming ? :91:

You do realize that the statement is on the FORMAT rather than the opposition right? Stay ignorant :))

so every single match in the tournament does not mean every match ? is that the new gyan you are going to preach now ? :91:

Whether it's the South African bowlers in South Africa, the English in England or Pakistan in India, Kohli has consistently failed against seam and swing bowling. There isn't any doubt that he's a bunny against the moving ball, even his supporters have no choice but to agree.

However, his choking and lack of match-winning ability even on the flat pitches of Australia must really hurt.

And then I found this:

Nearly a month later complete radio silence from Bilal7 on Kohli's performance in SA. Difficult times I suppose.
