Virender Sehwag Slams Glenn Maxwell Again, Says Australian Just Comes to IPL to Enjoy Free Drinks

“He (Maxwell) doesn’t take pressure at all (In IPL). He is there only for enjoyment. He will do everything in the match encourage players, roam around, dance other than scoring runs. As soon as the match is over, if he is getting free drinks, he will take that to his room or go to the room and have a lot of drinks.

lol these T20 leagues aren't meant to be taken seriously. It's tamasha cricket and most are either trying to make a name for themselves or just earn a quick buck. And really for the boards, it's just a cash grab and not much more than that.

Glenn Maxwell really turning it on for Kohli's RCB this year. A match winning 50 on a sluggish pitch after a nice bit of cameo in first game.

In his latest book, Glenn Maxwell shares his experiences during a turbulent time with Punjab Kings (PBKS), alleging that former captain Virender Sehwag's dominance in team selection and decision-making led to the team's downfall:

“When it came to selection, I thought it might be a good idea to bring the coaches into a WhatsApp group to make our decisions. Everyone agreed to this and shared their teams, with the exception of Sehwag. At the end of the process, he made it clear that he would pick the starting XI, end of story. We were losing on and off the field by now, with Sehwag on more than one occasion making decisions that didn't necessarily make sense.”

"I volunteered to do press that night, but Sehwag said he would instead. Upon getting onto the team bus, I found I'd been deleted from the main WhatsApp group. What was going on here? By the time we reached the hotel my phone was blowing up, with Sehwag having unloaded on me as a 'big disappointment', blaming me for not taking responsibility as captain, and all the rest. It was unpleasant, especially when I thought we had parted on good terms.”

"I texted him to say how much it hurt to read those comments and added that he had lost a fan in me for the way he had conducted himself. Sehwag's response was simple: 'Don't need fan like you.' We never spoke again. I knew my time was at an end and told the owners as much: if Sehwag was going to stick around, they were making a mistake and not to bother with me. He only lasted one more season."

Reading what Maxwell has wrote in his book, I believe him and think he is 100% in the right. Sehwag's behavior in all of this sounds like that of petulant child. You question his mental maturity and level of professionalism on each occasion. Since when does a mentor have the sole power to select the team anyway? And even if he did, this is not how you deal with your team captain.

I think Indians will fully agree with criticism against Sehwag. He has always come across as very immature, bitter and ignorant. I'm happy to be proved wrong but I've always felt Sehwag has rarely showed tact.
