Wahab Riaz in an interview lambastes Shahnawaz Dahani on following grounds:

"Shahnawaz Dahani made his debut in the PSL in 2019 and has been a consistent part of the team since then. However, there has been a lack of significant performances from him and he has been inactive during some of the tours where he was part of the squad."

"It's worth noting that there were discussions about including Dahani in the Pakistan team for the Australian tour, but this idea was dropped at the last moment. When he joined the camp, he informed the doctor that he would not be bowling. When questioned about his decision, he explained that he hadn't engaged in any activity for the past 20 days due to a viral infection that forced him to return home. Despite initial expectations that his condition would improve there was no improvement and he continued to be inactive. The team eventually notified the concerned authorities about the situation considering it unprofessional behavior on Dahani's part."

"As a player, being fit and part of the system requires being prepared for team obligations. During the few tours he participated in, Dahani did not secure a spot in the playing eleven, which was unfortunate. Additionally, there were complaints about his attitude and behavior and various coaches reported similar issues. Upon meeting with him it was conveyed that he needed to address these concerns."

"Complaints were also received about his reluctance to bowl in the nets and his tendency to evade responsibility. These factors contributed to a decline in his bowling performance. The advice given to him was to actively engage in red-ball cricket. Currently, he is playing for the Sui Northern team and has recently claimed a hat-trick, which is a positive development."

Would like to listen to Dhani's side of the story

Lets not forget PCB made him travel to Asia Cup at last minute, only to be diverted back home. Also Wahab became selector just now. So who did he get the history from?

During the months of November and December, there was a viral chest infection going on, so if Dhani couldn't bowl in nets like a regular bowler and needed rehab that makes sense. No need for Wahab to throw him to the media like that.

Also, the players who were part of the camp were not part of the department first class tournament going on, so if Dhani opted for first class cricket over uselss camp net bowling, than he made the right decision.

Look at Shadab who again decided to skip first class cricket and took part in the camp bowling.

I think I would wait for Dhani's side of the story.

It seems as ever since Dhani took the hattrick in domestic cricket, there have been questions why this guy wasnt selected and so now Wahab is throwing him under the bus

Well don't know about anything else. But he is right about Dahani's below par performance. If Dahani really wants to be a part of the team then we need something extraordinary or X factor type of stuff from him

Wahab is right. I haven't such much hunger or enthusiasm from Dhani to represent Pakistan.

I dont rate Dahani but the CS shouldn't be making these types of statements in public. Particularly about players that aren't even on the radar for selection at the moment.

Funny thing is Dahani reminds me a bit of Wahab in terms of his limitations and lack of bowling IQ.

Haven’t watched the interview but Wahab Riaz is the only current national selector that goes throws his players under the bus in the media.

Zero professionalism. He’s trying too hard, he thinks he’s being transparent, but in reality he’s just a dk.
He says this is being transparent 😂

Sorry but a Chief Selector shouldn't be airing the dirty laundry like this.

Dhani needs to get himself together but whatever discussions you want to have, have them in private.

I think our Pakistani players need tough love and for the full facts to come out. Otherwise the players agents and the player themselves play the sympathy conspiracy card in the media.

Why is he going after the easy targets through?

You think the 4 horseman haven’t thrown their own tantrums at these guys? Why not hand them out to pasture too?

I get the transparency but maybe don't go into so much detail.

A player can end up getting labeled as lazy or greedy even if they want to change and then it's impossible to shake the tag. It's better to either keep it in-house or give a more reserved explanation without airing everything to the public.

Well it is easy to discipline and bully poor old Dahani, so lets go after him and show him who is the boss.

Ordinarily this would be true but this is Pakistan cricket. Not defending such unprofessional media statements but sometimes it could be good as certain players are cry babies and run to the media when they don’t get selected. Remember Junaid Khan

Sometimes it’s good to just tell the public reasons for non selection to nip dissent in the bud.

Agreed but sometimes a public shaming focuses minds

This guy thinks he is better than he actually is. We have better bowlers than him, don’t need a ‘drama baaz’ get rid

Wahab and Hafeez talk way too much.
Guess they've found out that it's much easier to criticise the setup from the outside . Getting frustrated when they are directly accountable.

Well, this is surprising because Dahani must understand he is on the verge to get neglected with such behaviour and if it happens so it would become so difficult for him to make a comeback.

I don't see him in the picture

There's one good bowler in domestic who is tall lean sinewy and looks a very good bowler with some good pace and that is kashif ali .

Dahani is already a non-serious guy just like Hassan Ali. He focuses more on pointing his fingers in the air and run rather than working hard to make a comeback.

Dahani dismisses the danger man Saim Ayub in the match against PZ in PSL 9. His figures so far 1/17 in 2 overs.

Shahnawaz Dahani took 6 wicket for 38 runs against KRL while playing for SNGPL in the ongoing President's Cup. He took his first 5 wickets in his first 4 overs with the new ball.

Funny thing is, Wahab probably thinks he is doing a great job in his role making these statements to the media, to him it must reinforce his leadership position and management of the talent.

His brain cells have not evolved since leaving the pitch unfortunately.

Shahnawaz Dahani was awarded the title of Best Bowler of the Tournament for his exceptional performance as the top wicket-taker while representing SNGPL. During the tournament he claimed 19 wickets with an average of 16, an economy rate of 5.8, and achieved two five-wicket hauls.
