Wahab Riaz "I'm Fast and Furious"

Yup he has that ability but along with that he has ability to bowl absolute filth at times. That aspect makes him "not so brilliant" test bowler. He has a role though which is to bowl full tilt in short spells and target heads of people like Mo. Ali and Broad who are weak against short ball and he can also run through tail which is very important and can be a major difference between win and loss.

So you are picking 30% of your attack because you are worried about Moeen
Ali and Stuart Broad the batsman?

Are they, like most batsmen, also not weak against swinging deliveries,
seaming deliveries. In other words, good bowling?

Should not any bowler worth his salt be able to run through a tail?

Imran Khan recently took a 5fer mopping up a tail; how many 5fers has
Wahab taken recently?

Fast and furious spray gun... He didn't complete the sentence.

I am a pretty much IK jr supporter and want to see him in XI.

Broad and Mo. Ali was just an example, Infact whole of England unit has many times succumbed to well dircted short stuff. Wahab can over do it at times and is not a perfect test bowler but we dont have any other bowler who could fulfill this role.

Wahab hasnt been too shoddy in tests. He played 2 tests in LAnka and looked very good and despite being statistically bad in UAE he did produce a match winning spell, so I will have him, Amir and IK jr as my first choice pacers. Rahat will have to warm the bench because we cant afford monotony of 3 Left armers.

Another thing is Old trafford and Oval encourage reverse swingers. Remember Amir's match winning spell was with Old ball in 2010. So these are 2/4 grounds where wahab's old ball skills will come in handy.

He is like the Fast and Furious franchise

Always comes up with a lot of hype and gives the fans hope

But usually flatters to deceive

I like him but too inconsistent and doesn't know what areas to bowl at key times. Has the pace but not the brains

Yes he is!! Let's hope Wahab bhai manages to break into Top40 in world-rankings soon. A bowler this good deserves to be there.

He is the perfect example of why pace isn't always everything. So overrated by many here just because of his pace.

Watched him play for Essex against Surrey last night in the T20 blast and his shocking brainless last over cost his team the match. Keep him out of the limited overs side.

Watching him bowl is the ongoing tournament is not a pleasant sight. He looks to be all over the place, no control and no bowling intelligence.

He has never been a wicket-taker, a 2-3 wicket bowler at best, but I am concerned about his economy rate.

England play an attacking brand of cricket these days and guys like Stokes, Bairstow, Hales, Moeen and Root himself all look to score quickly.

If he bowls like he has been recently, we could see him go at over 4 runs per over in a spell.

Wahab shouldnt start, he bowls gun barrel straight and I would rather start with Imran, Amir and Rahat, all of whom offer something with ball.

Wahab could be handy only if pitch assists reverse or is a bouncy one. So He should play at Oval, but at other grounds, he shouldnt be first pick among 2 left armers we would play

Wahab will be important for Australia and New-Zealand tour. These are the places where bowlers like him do well.

Pakistan think tank does not believe in horses for courses theory; it is highly unlikely that Wahab will be benched.

I would swap his pace for some brains. He has everything apart from accuracy and brains

He can bowl a decent yorker and a decent slower ball. But shows how low we have gone that he is a regular for us

Slower ball never works in Test Cricket and most batsmen in tests can dig even good yorkers out if its not swinging. Wahab is only dangerous in tests when there is reverse on offer otherwise he is mostly useless.

In odis when he bowls them he looks good. I like him but I will admit he's been a let down for the majority of his career

in the same league as Sami.
Sami was a decent LOI bowler, very similar to the calibre of Aqib Javed in this format.

Just like how Sami was atrocious in tests, Wahab is equally bad but in LOI. The latter is a handy bowler on flat decks and bouncy wickets in tests only.

Best to sit him out v England if the ball is expected to seam and swing because his natural length wouldn't be suited to such conditons.

Will take a 10-fer in Australia this year, InshAllah. Second best pacer in Pakistan but of course, our kaum is quite the wrist-slitting one.

I think we need his type in the team especially if pitches are going to be the way i hope ie sunbaked and flat. I would be a lot more comfortable if hafeez could bowl to his level which would allow the wahab to bowl 15 overs in the day just doing role of enforcer

So you mean he is better than Mohammad Amir?

Amir is obviously the best in Pakistan. Asif is second best but he doesnt count these days. Based on skills Rahat and Ehsan are ahead of Wahab but Rahat has mental issues while Ehsan has technical issues. Hassan Ali will be up there soon as well

Guess he is fast but he is furious why he still leaks so many runs :)))

This guy is far from furious. 1-2 sixes from Yuvraj, Kohli and you should see his expression.

Bilal bhai. Wahab will never take a tenfer in his life. He was never that good. All he has is the ability to hit the deck hard but when youre constantly bowling no balls and spraying it both sides of the wicket, is there any use?

Wahab is the cricket version of Pastor Maldonado, he'll just crash and burn. There's absolutely nothing dangerous about his bowling and the only thing he brings is his run-leaking self.
