Basit Ali speaking about Mohammad Haris' statement:

"Agar Mohammad Haris Babar Azam ke liye baat karay k unko improvement ki zarurat hai to Mohammad Haris ko dande se maarna chahiye. Tum ho kya, k tum Babar Azam kay liye baat kar rahe ho. Babar Azam kaptaan hota toh, kya yeh bayaan deta woh?"

(If Mohammad Haris is talking about Babar Azam, that he needs improvement, he should be beaten up with a stick. Who are you that you are speaking about Babar Azam? If Babar had been the captain, would Haris have made such a statement?)

Sana Mir speaking about Mohammad Haris's statement during a TV show:

“Babar Azam is going through a tough time, and he’s a senior player. I didn’t like that statement at all. When we’re analyzing from the outside and critics are talking, it’s a different matter. But when you’re part of a team, no matter how many youngsters you look at globally, you won’t find examples where a senior player is simply replaced or dropped from the squad—and such statements are made. Making these comments only adds extra pressure on him, which isn’t good for his own career. It won’t affect Babar much, but young players especially need to keep in mind that respecting seniors is crucial. It is a part of their journey and character-building process.”

Haris should be more careful about what he is saying atm... He should focus on performing first and be a world class player.

Careful with his words?

Mate give it a rest. Haris has probably shut babar down the nicest way possible while encouraging him to up his game as a t20 player the nicest way possible.

Savage was sunny Gavaskar tearing babar apart. Granted sunny was correct about the technique but his other words were uncalled for.

SHut down babar???

Haris is gonna shut down babar now??? LOL.

OK

The way Haris is being attacked from all sides shows the level of toxic senior culture we have in the subcontinent and why seniors feel like they don't need to work hard or improve.

Senior superstars are never allowed to be criticized and if anyone dare does that, an entire gang starts bullying those who dare even question seniors. Social media, regular media, ex players, current players, all start bullying.

A third-class player like Haris won’t be able to match Babar’s career even if he plays for 20 years. Some of Babar’s best knocks across formats are bigger than his entire career.

However, these failures can have their moment in the sun for now and enjoy the temporary limelight because this drama will end soon, and it will end in tears.

Babar Azam’s criticism is reaching a point of ridicule now.

He has been a great player for Pakistan but is going through a bad phase in his career. So what? It doesn’t take long for things to turn upside down.

He has many years of cricket left in him and he will be back with a bang but third-class players like Haris will be lost in history. Also, these third-class fans who make a living out of bashing him will be lost in history as well.

It's been over two years now. The criticism from fans is more than justified.

And why you're blindly defending Babar at all cost? What's the reason? Are you works in babar PR agency ? :kp

Haris should be a little more careful when making remarks like these. Even if he was goaded into saying it, or even if it was meant in a light-hearted way, people in Pakistan cricket can use such remarks against you. Maybe even Babar himself didn’t take it seriously, but those running Pakistan cricket are notoriously thin-skinned and often look for reasons to punish players.

We’ve already seen how players like Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf have been treated over seemingly trivial and insignificant things. The PCB is filled with people carrying oversized egos, many of whom haven’t achieved anything of real note in their lives, and this is how they feed their egos.

In any other normal country, nobody would even pay heed to something as insignificant as this. In Pakistan it's a new story on which everyone and their dog will have an opinion.

So Mr haris Should babar bring change in his t20 game (like better his strike rate and add some innovative strokes)?
Haris: yes, faster (because we need him in the team and the coach wants him to better his strike rate and play some modern shots to come out of that defensive rut)
Can't we take these comments positively?
Is it necessary to take everything in negative aspects.
He just gave his opinion which was short and simple because he knows why Babar is not the team and reason is strike rate and not being able to play modern shots because lad is still in his 2011 era of classic drive shots.

Babar deserves criticism for his recent performance, but our players need to be more sensible when handling questions. it's not Haris place to tell Babar how to play, he is barely set in the team himself and should think twice before giving advice to others.

Our players need to learn to shut up, focus on their own development, and let the bat/ball do the talking. If Babar needs to bat faster, well then let the captain and coach tell him. You keep your head down and try to bang out runs.

Exactly!! He is a current player and at some point of time he will have to share the same dressing room with Babar. :kp

I agree that senior culture is suffocating in the subcontinent, but in my eyes, dressing room and team culture should trump everything else. A teammate should never dig out their teammate in public. No matter if he is junior or senior.

Unfortunately, we don't have a professional culture in Pakistan, and nuance is uncommon, so people are going from extreme to extreme in their defence of Haris or in their criticism. It is not Haris' job to tell Babar how to bat. It is the job of the coach, captain and selectors. If he is unable to do it, he should be discarded ( as has happened). Everybody else should focus on their own game, and give advice to themselves before giving it to others.

He can have his opinions about Babar the way I have an advice for him.
Learn to play cricket you loudmouth and let your performances set examples on how to play.
You're supposed to play not be loudmouth like your pathetic fans

You nailed it. This is pure old ugly desi mentality and you can see who here still has that mentality.

What were the exact words of Harris?

Cause whats written in OP contradicts on what is being said on social media where people are saying that harris said something along the lines that Babar should play faster and all.

Anyways, Harris is no one to be giving out comments like these in public. He himself is on the verge of being kicked out.

When harris pulled out that ribbon banner i said it than this guy behaves abit odd and wont be surviving in pakistan cricket

I do not understand why current cricketers make stupid statements like this. They are teammates in Peshawar Zalmi and potentially Pakistan cricket team. If you are going to publicly bring down a colleague, how are you going to share a dressing room together? Imagine the animosity. Our cricketers are truly illiterate.

I personally didn't see anything wrong with Haris saying this.

Babar needs to up his game, especially as a senior player. No more free rides.

Time to work, but not just him, others as well. So called senior players need to up their games.

How is he on the verge of being kicked out if he was selected for tri series + Asia cup?

It's been over two years now. The criticism from fans is more than justified.
There had to be some intelligence and merit to the criticism. The other day, a bunch of posters were mocking his decision to play in the flood relief charity match because he wants to stat-pad.

That is how low some people are stooping. That’s the gutter mentality of our fans. How shameful.

What’s happening in Punjab is a joke to these people living in the West.

Pretty sure the victims of the flood won’t be too pleased to have Babar coming out to bat.

The 10,000pkr per 6 for every flood victim will be impractical.

Haris needs advice himself first.. He needs to show why he an important person to be advising others.

His statement might sound ok for most of the guys because it is babar. He should be giving same advice to Salman ali agha for khushdil shah etc who are in the team.

How funny. I almost fell of my chair but was able to gather myself.

Now let me help you. It’s not just about the sponsorship, it’s about ticket sales too.

Babar is very popular in Peshawar and his popularity has increased ten folds because he’s the PZ captain.

Him showing up will have a positive impact on the ticket sales as some fans might show up to watch him play.

He didn’t have to do this but it’s a noble gesture on his part to play. It is a not an occasion to mock him over and make lame jokes.

We all know why he’s playing.

He’ll smash around all the 50 year old grandpas, score a 50 and post ‘alhamdulilah’ on IG, and his fan will tell us that he’s back.

So what’s he supposed to do when someone asks his opinion? Pull out a gun and shoot himself because he’s not an important person?

Let’s be real, even if Buttler or Kohli were to say this about Babar, you’d see the same reaction.

They’re upset that their master has been ridiculed. It was never about Haris’ own stats.

If he was an intelligent person, he would have handled this question differently, he could have said something like:

“It is not my position to give advice to others. I am focused on my own performance. Babar is an experienced player who knows his game well, and we are all hopeful that he will be back to his best soon”

That’s a smart answer to a stupid question. However, we know he is not smart. If he wasn’t, he would have improved as a player after all these years. He is still where he was in 2022.

Haris’ answer shows that our players clearly lack intelligence and are not quick on their feet.

It wasn’t an interview and he wasn’t supposed to give a 500 word answer to a 10 word question

It was a rapid fire round where the host asked him if Babar needs to improve in T20. He can only say Yes or no. He would be lying if he said No.

If he said no, it raises questions as to how the current PCB management have gone in a direction without Babar. The entire ethos of the revamping of Pakistan T20 cricket is built around the narrative of not having to depend on Babar and Rizwan because of their slow approach.

Saying no comment also would cause controversy. The only correct answer to this is “Yes”. This is exactly what Hesson has said, Aqib has said, Wahab has said, even Mickey Arthur has said. These guys have been shaping the direction of the PCB

“Harris is not important enough to give advice

But Rizwan is important enough to tell Pakistan that “me and Babar are the nation’s favourite jodi” 🤡

And what is happening now?

Babar is rushing to the nets, and getting a gym membership so that he can hit more sixes because a rubbish player, who is not worthy of lacing his boots, said so?

There is one catch though.

Haris is not fit to lace boots of either Babar or Rizwan.

GUYS!

We cannot babysit posters here - when you guys post whatever comes to your minds, you destroy the experience of other posters - no one wants to post in this thread

Keep it civil or don't post.

Babar has been posting his gym videos for years now

He’s been training at a Mickey Mouse institute run by Salman Butt for over a year or so. We’ve seen Peshawar Zalmi sharing nonsense videos of him ‘power-hitting”. For what?? What’s he trying to prove with those videos? I’ll share them here, it’s so easy to find material Babar and his PR have used to somehow deflect the criticism of his weak batting approach.

Very soon Babar will be back playing T20s. Sab Doodh ka Doodh, Paani ka Paani ho jaye ga.

My point is that Babar will not be bothered by the comments made by a vastly inferior player.

Learn to honour those who speak the truth!

Stop looking at the status, name, class of those who speak the truth!

The world truly needs it! The most powerful and influential people in the world are speaking blatant lies and justifying evil!

You don’t have to be someone special for your truth to not be any truer than it would have been had it been said by someone more powerful, famous or influential!

My point is that Babar will not be bothered by the comments made by a vastly inferior player.
If he is at the point of shamelessness, so be it. He is paying the consequences!

This is the same Babar Azam who didn’t pay attention to the advise of Wasim Akram who told him to bat at number 3 for KK. Baqi aap sab siyane ho.

Someone who debuted 3yrs ago, has an avg below 20 in t20is, has that audacity to talk about Babar publicly. ... ironic

Looking back at it now,

I so wish Harris never played that knock against SA, which gave Babar and Rizwan an extra year or so to completely bury Pakistan cricket.

This is honestly pathetic beyond belief. Haris doesn’t even deserve to be in the squad, his averages are poor across every format, even at domestic level, let alone international cricket. Babar carried this T20 team for so long and consistently scored runs, but now that he’s going through a lean patch, everyone’s turned against him. Typical mindset, kick someone when they’re down. He’ll be back soon, and a hack like Haris, who can barely hold his place even in T20s, will be forgotten. He hasn’t achieved a single thing in his career to speak about Babar like that. Just disgusting. These youngsters should show some respect to Babar and actually learn from him.

Only player at the point of shamelessness is a “batsman” who averages less than 26 in all formats of cricket at all levels.

The only thing Babar carried the team to was “10 runs short” 🤡

There have been a couple of threads where the flood relief efforts and initiative from Javed Afridi have resulted in name calling of Babar Azam.

We get it, you don't like him, however it seems incredibly bad taste, to frame the discussion of flood relief around your dislike for Babar, and it's sad to see posters behave this way given the misery that these floods have inflicted on our country.

Many people criticize Indians behaviour on this forum but I haven't seen them stoop to this level.

There is not a single batter in Pakistan cricket who even comes close to Babar’s class. All these third rate players are nothing in front of him. What’s unbelievable is how the fans, and even the clowns sitting in the PCB setup, have shamelessly turned against him. Pathetic, low level, small minded people who don’t respect greatness, probably don’t respect anyone in their own lives, and are nothing but low class human beings.

It was you guys who were bouncing up and down when he smashed Pakistan out of trouble against SA In Sydney. Now you guys hate him??
Based on one innings? Alhamdolillah I’ve never been a clueless fan.

In the same tournament he wet his pants in the final and scored an ugly 7 off 12 balls.

But I am not a hater and don’t go around highlighting only the poor performances of our players and put unnecessary pressure on them. There’s a difference between constructive criticism and unrealistic criticism.

Haris is part of the team right now and I hope he does well. I really doubt his abilities but he has my support for now.

His “class” is determined in Test cricket, and quite possibly the way he plays in ICC tournaments.

We’ve seen how he has continuously deserted Pakistan at their time of need in such stages. He was dropped from the Test side which resulted in a series win against England.

His form is questionable

His game awareness is non existent

His fitness isn’t ideal

His technique to spin and even pace right now is questionable.

What quality and class are you talking about? The last time he played a good innings in Test, Shan Masood of all people scored 150 in the same innings. So what is the point of this nonsense?

It was embarrassing to see. I don’t want to call these posters out but they know who they are.

But babar is not t20 level batsman....there is no point of 50 plus average with 125 strike rate in t20s....it only works I'd rest of them ate world class hitters.....rizwan is even worse

It’s sad because these Daddu fans can’t make Sehwag the new Imad Wasim. Sehwag said it publicly too. Babar is not a T20 player. Why can’t these guys man up and take on Sehwag?
The funniest part is that haris didnt even say anything. He said 2 words in a children game typically played by Americans on YouTube for views.

2 words and all this mental gymnastics. Good lord. Haris needs to beat his record and say one word now. 🤣🤣.

This is hilarious.

Agreed. I don't want Babar anywhere near the Pakistan T20 team at the moment, but those comments are in very poor taste. He is doing a great job showing up for his fans, when he could have easily refused.

We are in 2025

The whole senior junior business is now history

As long as Haris was not rude, he has the right so express himself.

For BA, this should be another opportunity to introspect. When you lose the respect of the juniors then what else is there to play for?

Very good point.

Babar has not done enough for him to be this untouchable batsman his fans seem to believe.

They may end up playing together in other formats. It will be awkward. There are some default answers to questions like this. There is a difference between a normal fan saying this and your colleague saying this.
