Sri Lanka just became the 1st team to defeat Pakistan in a series in UAE and thus made history. However perhaps more than anything the series was a victory for the game of test cricket as whole. It was a perfect endorsement of test cricket still providing more excitement or twists and turns than any form of the game.

The Final test in Dubai had extraordinary fluctuations similar to a total reversal of a plot in a Hollywood thriller.Pakistan were literally dead and buried before ressurecting themselves from the grave to come within touching distance of test cricket's most remarkable turnabout victories. To me the 4th day of the test was one of the most remarkable in the history of the game with level of ebb and flow taken to it's highest crescendo..Pakistan spectacularly skittled out Sri Lanka for 96 to give themselves an outside chance of chasing a target of 317 runs. But at 52.5 it looked all over bar the shouting before a spectacular stand of 146 runs between Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed which all but stitched the wound. It is rare in test cricket to witness such an organized or defiant resistance after half the side is dismissed.Coming in to the final day was reminiscent of reading the last chapter of an epic novel or a Hollywood thriller at it's highest crescendo.A final day could not have been more perfectly set up.

Had Pakistan won it could well have been their best test victory ever and made the game rank amongst the best 5-10 test matches of all time.Arguably the fact that Pakistan folded up 66 runs adrift robbed the game the tag of classic.Sri Lanka wining by about a margin of 16 runs or Pakistan wining by around 2 wickets would certainly have made this game one of test cricket's epics.
