Yes they will be hot favorites for the encounter and are the team of the tournament but one thing that will be going for us that unlike India or Australia we do not have a mental block against England and in a pressie game that counts for a lot. Also I feel after years and years of receiving battering from Wasim & Waqar England do get slight intimidated by us.

I am not saying we are guaranteed to win and they will beat us 8 times out of 10 to win but I am glad its not Australia or India we are up against.

Lol Wasim and Waqar were ages ago. Pakistan has not won a series against England in god knows when. This England team smashed Pakistan back to back in the UAE and England.

Well by that logic I dont know why are we intimidated by India then. We have given them a heavy battering all through the 90s, much more than England maybe. Its more about the team confidence and the opposition on the day. For some reason we are intimidated by India despite having a superior record almost everywhere except WCs.

We are playing the best LOI team in the world right now. The batting depth scares me. Even if you have them 3-4 down for nothing, they can come out all guns blazing and smash you around like nothing happened. The bowling attack has been a good foil for this batting line-up too. If there ever was an impossible match to win, it was against England.

When teams play it is the current teams that play not historical teams. When Pakistan play India they lose because they are inferior. Superior record doesn't count for anything as they are due to far superior players in yesteryears against inferior opposition. Hafeez cannot conjure up the ghost of Miandad or Wahab conjure up Wasim's spirit and make Kohli bat like Manjrekar and Jadeja bowl like Raju.

Are we talking about one series here? As Pakistan won the test series in UAE and drew the test series 2-2 in England while won the T20 series in England.

Complete mismatch

Trying to think of ways pak could win but honestly there is a 5% chance of that.

Regardless of how well we may bowl, our batting will always let us down.

This is the same team that smashes us England recently scoring a world record 444 on the way

Against the weakest bowling-line up of the tournament on a good batting pitch, if not for the horrible fielding - this batting lineup would have failed to chase 230, and it would not have been surprising. That is how horrible Pak's batting is.

If, and it is a big if, the conditions suit fast bowling and Pakistan bowlers are at their absolute best on that day, then maybe they will have a chance against England. Otherwise, I can't see how this England side could lose to Pakistan.

And I think it is highly unlikely that it will be anything but a flat pitch, Morgan made it clear he wanted that.
Chances look bleak, but nothing to lose for Pakistan I guess.:sarf

If England bat first and the Pak bowlers can restrict them to 220-230, then Pakistan has a chance.

At best we will score what 260-70 v England who will chase that in 40 overs

Probably the worst batting line up in international cricket against the best.

One team that plays an exciting modern day brand and the other still stuck in the last 90s

We need to bowl first if we are to have any control of the game, give Hassan Ali the new ball and see England openers go cheaply, Haffez if he makes the team has to be 1st change! Over confidence and a little pressure will be Englands downfall.

Look back at the odi scorecards in 1992, the year wasim and waqar were at their peak and you will see that even in that odi series England beat Pakistan fair and square.

In fact in the past it's only because the English don't rate ODI's as much as Test cricket that it almost goes unnoticed that they hammer us in almost every single odi bilateral series. The media focus is almost always on their test losses.

Except of course last year when they broke all manner of records. Infact I'm sure they will be batting first if given the opportunity and will rack up 500 before you know and then beat us with their batting order reversed with overs to spare. Pakistan can't believe their luck that they've got this far and I'm sure their luck has run out. Unlike Other teams England won't gift their wickets or drop catches or give crucial overthrows.

We are in for a record breaking hammering

Eng bat till Adil Rashid or Chris Woakes. Only way to beat them is to bat first and score 350, otherwise no chance.

If we are talking of ODI tournament it is obviously ODI series.

Exactly! thats what my point was, perhaps didn't convey it very well. I am arguing against the OP's logic contesting that past record will not affect the result on the particular day. England by no means will have a fear factor playing Pakistan considering the Ws wreaked havoc in the past. We have to beat them on cricketing skills and not by wearing tags of Imrans and Wasims.

Not even gonna tune in as I'm sure this will be a thrashing.

Hopefully we don't completely embarrass ourselves though.
