What's new

West Indies (184/5) secure a thrilling 5-wicket victory over Pakistan (171/7) via the DLS method, leveling the series 1-1 with one match remaining

Our batting is atrocious. The timid approach by many is the real issue. No ability to hit the ball into gaps.

Australia was 6/75 against RSA today (albeit a different format), yet their batsmen did not go into their shells but kept attacking/rotating the strike.

They were still able to post a formidable 178 against a decent bowling attack. This is called batting

Bringing back Babar, Rizwan for ODI,s was a mistake ..they should have continued with youngsters in this series. They would not have done worse than these two.. Hasan Nawaz and Talat make decent contribution in both the games. The senior batters are struggling big times and playing for their place

I wouldn’t trust Rizwan to make a Chapli Kebab let alone pick up a Bat, he is the Ja Ja Binks of cricket

Hassan Ali shaheen, and Rizwan has no business in this team. Kick them out. Bring a new captain with new fast bowlers, and things might get a bit better.

The whole batting sucks at the moment, apart from Hassan Nawaz
I’ve told you. You’ve got your bearings completely wrong. And stop making match by match reactionary posts.

Think long term. Even if Babar and Rizwan score runs next game, Pakistan will suffer in the long run.

West Indies beat England at home recently, so a series loss here won’t surprise me one bit.

Our batsmen are kittens, specially the dynamic duo.

Mohammad Rizwan at the post-match presentation:

"We put in a good effort. It was difficult to bat out there, with both spin and seam playing a part. Rutherford’s attacking approach shifted the momentum, and Roston Chase finished the game well for them.

Yes, you could say our fifth bowler gave away too many runs. But in recent years, Salman Agha and Saim Ayub have both bowled well for us. Saim didn’t have the best day today, but he performed well in the T20Is. That’s just part of the game.

Honestly, the weather forecast has been completely different from expectations, and it’s hard to read. We’re keeping our options open and will finalise the XI after assessing the conditions."'

West Indies Level Series with Five-Wicket Win Over Pakistan in Rain-Affected ODI

West Indies clinched a series-levelling five-wicket victory over Pakistan in a rain-hit second ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday evening.

Chasing a revised target of 181 in 35 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, the hosts reached the mark with 10 balls to spare, thanks to a match-winning unbeaten 77-run partnership between Player of the Match Roston Chase and Justin Greaves.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 171-7 in 37 overs, with Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Talat contributing valuable thirties in a rain-interrupted innings.

Chase, who top-scored with 49* off 47 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes), arrived at the crease with West Indies struggling at 102-4 in the 20th over. He was joined by Greaves, who added a steady 26* off 31 balls, including one six. The pair initially endured 29 boundary-less deliveries before Chase broke the shackles with two sixes in the 27th over, reducing the equation to 47 needed off 48 balls. From there, they maintained a steady flow of boundaries to seal the win.

Pakistan had made early inroads in the chase, with Hasan Ali removing both openers for just 12 runs. Abrar Ahmed then dismissed Keacy Carty for a slow 16 off 42 balls, leaving the hosts at 48-3.

Captain Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford revived the innings with a blistering 54-run stand. Rutherford unleashed a flurry of boundaries in the 17th and 18th overs, smashing three sixes and four fours off Shaheen Shah Afridi and Salman Ali Agha, scoring 37 runs in just 12 balls.

Mohammad Nawaz broke the momentum by dismissing both Hope (32 off 35) and Rutherford (45 off 33) in quick succession, leaving West Indies needing 73 off 78 balls. Chase and Greaves then calmly guided their side home.

Pakistan’s bowlers had their moments, with Hasan Ali claiming two wickets, Nawaz returning with 2-17, and Abrar conceding just 23 runs in his seven overs.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan were put in to bat and lost Saim Ayub (23 off 31) and Babar Azam (duck) to Jayden Seales in the ninth over with just 37 on the board. Mohammad Rizwan (16 off 38) tried to stabilize the innings with partnerships alongside Abdullah Shafique (26 off 40) and Hussain Talat (31 off 32), but regular strikes from the West Indies bowlers kept Pakistan in check.

After Salman Ali Agha fell for nine, Hasan Nawaz’s explosive 36* off 30 balls, featuring three sixes, and Shaheen Afridi’s quick 11 off seven balls helped Pakistan reach a competitive 171-7 before rain ended their innings prematurely.

Jayden Seales led the West Indies bowling attack with three wickets, while Chase, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Jediah Blades chipped in with one wicket each.

Good win for westindies. They needs another win to improve the ICC rankings. They are already at 9th after this win and now Bangladesh is 10th rankins team . They can directly qualifies if they maintain this ranking because top 8 team excluding the host will directly qualify for the World Cup 2027.

:kp

Windies cricket board post even highlights of t20 matches for 30 minutes duration on YouTube. After the blockathon of Riz, they have posted only 16 mnts.Thank u Riz.

Saim Ayub needs to pull his socks up and get more consistent. No look shots are good but if you cannot be consistent you don't belong at this level.

Rizwan and Babar don’t deserve to be called senior players, when all they do is stat-pad and look up to junior players to win them games.

The team culture due to this inherent selfish attitude clearly shows in all our batting performances.

They have both become a baggage, not just because of their batting but due to their mere toxic presence.

Who won the SF of T20 WC 2022? Who won T20 WC 2021 vs India (our only win vs India to date in WC)? Who won ODI series vs Aus in Aus and SA in SA?

Saim Ayub and our pace bowling attack.

Babar and Rizwan should both be removed asap, you cannot continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.

Come on Chadda bro, care to post Rizwan's scores in the Aus ODI series? This is the problem we always blame Rizwan and Babar for everything. Ayub has failed now as well and does not have the body of work of Babar. Should we drop him too?

You blame the incompetent fools who give us hits like 22/2 in 10 overs and 38-ball 16 runs consistently. It's the same thing literally every single game, how much more can we endure this nonsense?

Ayub has to be given a longer rope since he has done well in his limited ODI career so far. If he continues to fail, he will also be replaced. Not hang around like a leech and keep losing us games, while securing their own runs to make themselves look good.

@shaz619

I see my brothers Chadha, Deadly Venom and Redwood as the new Sting, Micheals and DDP.

They are reformed men MashaAllah

22/2 in 10 overs must have removed any respect for these two from any self-respecting fan. Only their social media warriors will ever defend them moving forward

Mere bhai the writing was already on the wall in 2023 when Pakistan were scoring 120 runs short every game batting first in the World Cup

You took Imam ul Haq as your opener on decks where guys who played with aggression could rack up runs at a fast pace with positive intent.

The niyyat was always 270-280 scores because Bobsy and Rizzu never wanted to push themselves.

Here is the result.

I wouldn’t trust Rizwan to make a Chapli Kebab let alone pick up a Bat, he is the Ja Ja Binks of cricket

and his acting is so cringe.. Everytime batsman misses , this guy throws the ball in the air or celebrates first and appeal later.. Yesterday Hassan Ali defeated the bat of Chase , This dramaybaz threw the ball in the air and started celebrating and ball was no way near the edge

But he looks like the best batter in the middle. So what’s the argument?
Exactly he was selected purely based on his current form and if rain not intervened he would have got his second fifty in a row.
With more matches he will become better, Pak finally found someone who is tall and can hit cleanly with sheer power and can bat sensibly at no.5/6. Fans cry over this too omg.

But he looks like the best batter in the middle. So what’s the argument?
Some players just have natural talent. This guy hit a 44 ball 100 in conditons where Pakistan have been bunnies in.

To top it off they were seaming conditons and Hasan Nawaz is considered a spin basher and not a pace basher.

This guy is special.

If Rizwan and Babar struggle to find get going against WI , no point in expecting them to bat like Ponting and Gilchrist against top tier teams. If Rizwan is adamant to bat like this , then sorry no need a another Misbah version in LOIs that too in 2025. It is better to drop Rizwan and go with Haris..

Babar has not scored a century for more than 2 years now in ODIs and his last century was 150 against Nepal, shouldn’t be considered big as well. If we take when he last scored a 100 against top six teams then the gap is even wider. For a no.3 and that too for Pakistan like team where middle order is non existent + Rizwan hogging around no.4 it’s like playing with zero batting prospects, they rode on Ayubs purple patch and with him now not scoring that hundreds they are exposed again

Sending Rizwan home for his poor performance with the bat after so many chances will bring discipline to the side and so sending a message that the team cannot hold on to players who wants to play tuk tuk and try to make up for it in the end to try and statpad causing damage to other cricketers career in the team.

Kill that mindset , never give space to grow even if it is the captain himself. With Agha very clear about this as captain rest assured things will be back in order

WI win is good for the game.

Pak loss is also good for the game as the shenanigans of Naqvi/Hesson should not go unnoticed.

I can see why Rizwan / Babar are no longer in T20 team and deserves to be out. Rizwan is a batting liability. He makes low quality bowlers like Moti and Chase look like world class bowlers. The dropped catches by Rizwan though difficult and the easy one by Abrar off Rutherford came back to bite them.

If the keep a decent coach with a run upto 2027, I cant see Babar/Riz being a part of it. They're not the batters who can get you a target of 320/350 anymore.

Unfortunately, we don't have anyone who can ....
