This commentator lmao, "Pakistan should bat all day and the morning session tomorrow." Lol does she understand how test cricket works.

Babar should come in at 3 ahead of Azhar. Azhar is only going to be a run rate killer here.
Even with flying edges, Imran butt is unable to put the bat to the ball and getting leg bye fours. :))
 
Excellent proactive batting from these two so far. Did not expect this. Yes, they’ve been lucky at times, but gotta give credit where it’s due. Came out with a plan and it’s working very well so far.
 
The way forward for our openers - come in and just go for it.

Hey Azhar did have that hundred in our maghrib chase lol, but I agree Babar should come in next.
 
Wow. Just goes to show, at this level, it is all about how well you can take pressure. Without pressure, everyone is a capable batsman! 47 for no loss

Both openers are actually batting at good rate even for ODI game let alone test match
 
I will repeat, intent makes a huge difference. WI bowlers know that batsmen are going after them and thus are trying to change things up rather than sticking to good length

Really helps that they don't have as much pressure as the other innings'. And also clarity of mind and a license to play shots
Mental strength is the real differentiator

Funny seeing them score when there's barely any pressure in the game.

And playing in an aggressive attacking method is working a lot better than playing tuk-tuk and forcing the opposition to bowl defensive lines than consistent attacking ones.

Azhar and Fawad, both, should be shuffled around. Depending upon when these two get out PAK should look to have any one of Babar, Rizwan, Faheem or Hasan. If these two streak their way to ~250 lead, can send Hasan in straightaway.
 
Rizwan or babar should come in next, or even hasan Ali.
 
Lol will take these runs however they come but has there ever been an uglier 50 run opening stand.
 
What lead should be enough here ? I would say 320+ , spare around 110-120 overs to dismiss WI in the final innings.

300-20 agreed and we need most of last session tonight bowling at WI.
 
Imran and Abid can get away with this approach now - which is needed. But they are not Pakistan’s opening solution. No matter how much their positive mindset is helping them, test cricket has rules - a tight technique is rule no 1. They don’t have it.
 
Quick 100 more and get WI in. 65 overs remaining, considering bad light it would be more like around 55.

Pak should be able to get 100 safely in around 20 overs and give WI around 30 overs or so tonight.
 
55 overs remaining today and 90 tomorrow (?). This assumes no bad light and rain. I would say they need to bat 45 overs more today, add 175 to this total and then bowl.

Misbah and selectors will not drop them if they make good scores in this innings.They will forget about their awful techniques.These two are not test openers.If Pakistan can find proper openers then Babar will not be under pressure all the time.Azhar is past his best and should be replaced.

pakistan once they get lead over 300 need to think bout taking 10 wickets to win game.

Kid you not, these WI commentators (save Ian Bishop) make our sikandar bakhts and other local "expert" commentators sound like great analysts/pundits

Azhar should try to see off few overs to make the ball older for rest of the batting :smith
